Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU), Himachal Pradesh has released the official schedule for the 2nd Stray Round of MBBS/BDS counselling for the 2026–27 academic session. This round fills seats that remain vacant after the main counselling rounds. If you did not get a seat in earlier rounds, or if you want to change your college or course, this is your opportunity. The entire process — from application to joining — happens in just over a week, so timing is critical. All dates and deadlines are fixed; missing even one can cost you your seat.
Apply online by 5 November 11:00 AM, lock your choices on 6–7 November, and join your allotted college by 10–11 November.

Unlock My College ListWhat is the 2nd Stray Round?
A stray round is a final counselling round held after the main counselling rounds are complete. It fills seats that remain empty — either because candidates did not report to their allotted colleges, or because colleges have additional capacity. In Himachal Pradesh, this is the 2nd (and likely final) stray round for MBBS and BDS admissions in 2026–27.
If you did not secure a seat in the main counselling rounds, or if you were allotted a seat but want to try for a different college or course, you can participate in this round. Your NEET UG 2026 score and rank remain valid. This is often the last chance to get into a medical college for this academic year.
Important Dates at a Glance
The entire 2nd Stray Round process runs from 3 November to 11 November 2026. Every step has a fixed date — there are no extensions. Below is the complete timeline you must follow.
| Step | Activity | Date & Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fill fresh online counselling application form | 3 Nov to 5 Nov 2026, up to 11:00 AM |
| 2 | Merit list released | 5 Nov 2026 |
| 3 | Vacancy position displayed | 5 Nov 2026 |
| 4 | Fill and lock choices (Course/College/Quota) | 6 Nov & 7 Nov 2026 |
| 5 | Seats allocation list released | 9 Nov 2026 |
| 6 | Join allotted college | 10 Nov & 11 Nov 2026 |
Step 1: Online Application (3–5 November, 11:00 AM Deadline)
The first step is to fill a fresh online counselling application form. This is not the same as your NEET registration — you must complete a new form specifically for the 2nd Stray Round. The form will be available on the AMRU website (www.amruhp.ac.in) from 3 November 2026.
You have exactly three days to submit your form. The deadline is 5 November 2026 at 11:00 AM. After 11:00 AM on 5 November, the form will close and no further applications will be accepted. There is no grace period or extension. If you miss this deadline, you cannot participate in this round.
Keep your NEET UG 2026 admit card, roll number, and score handy — you will need these details to fill the form. Make sure all information is correct before submitting; errors in your application can lead to rejection or allotment issues.
- Application window: 3 November to 5 November 2026, 11:00 AM
- Form type: Fresh online application (not a modification of an earlier form)
- Website: www.amruhp.ac.in
- Required documents: NEET UG 2026 admit card, roll number, score
Step 2: Merit List & Vacancy Display (5 November)
On 5 November 2026, AMRU will release two critical documents: the merit list for the 2nd Stray Round and the display of vacancy positions. The merit list shows all candidates who have applied, ranked by their NEET score. The vacancy display shows which colleges have empty seats, in which courses (MBBS or BDS), and under which quotas (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.).
Check both documents carefully. The merit list confirms that your application was received and processed. The vacancy display tells you which seats are actually available for you to choose from. If your name is not on the merit list, contact AMRU immediately — your application may not have been submitted successfully.
- Merit list released: 5 November 2026
- Vacancy position released: 5 November 2026
- Both documents available on: www.amruhp.ac.in
- Action: Check that your name appears on the merit list and review available seats
Step 3: Choice Filling & Locking (6–7 November)

Official 2023–2025 closing ranks and fees, matched to your rank.
After the merit list and vacancy display are released, you have two days (6 and 7 November 2026) to fill and lock your choices. This means you must select which colleges and courses you are willing to accept, and in what order of preference. You can choose from the vacant seats shown in the vacancy display.
Once you lock your choices, you cannot change them. The system will use your locked preferences to generate the allotment list. If you do not lock your choices by the end of 7 November, you will not be considered for allotment in this round. Locking is mandatory — simply filling choices is not enough.
Think carefully about your preferences. Rank colleges and courses in the order you prefer them. The allotment algorithm will try to match you to your highest-ranked available choice. If that seat is taken by a higher-ranked candidate, you will be offered your next choice, and so on.
- Choice filling window: 6 November & 7 November 2026
- You must both fill AND lock your choices
- Choices cannot be changed after locking
- Failure to lock = no allotment in this round
- Rank your preferences carefully — the algorithm respects your order
Step 4: Seat Allotment (9 November)
On 9 November 2026, AMRU will release the Seats Allocation List. This list shows which college and course you have been allotted, based on your NEET rank, your locked choices, and the available vacancies. Your allotment is final — you cannot appeal or request a change.
Check the allotment list carefully. Verify that your name, roll number, allotted college, course (MBBS or BDS), and quota are all correct. If there is an error, contact AMRU immediately. If you have been allotted a seat, you must join the college on the dates specified (10–11 November). If you do not join, your seat will be forfeited and offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.
- Allotment list released: 9 November 2026
- Allotment is final — no changes or appeals
- Check all details: name, roll number, college, course, quota
- Report any errors to AMRU immediately
Step 5: Joining the College (10–11 November)
If you have been allotted a seat, you must join your allotted college on 10 or 11 November 2026. Joining means physically reporting to the college with all required documents and completing the admission formalities. The college will verify your documents, collect fees, and issue your admission confirmation.
Do not delay. If you do not join by 11 November, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate. There is no extension for joining. Bring all original documents (NEET admit card, 10th and 12th certificates, category certificate if applicable, medical fitness certificate, etc.) and be prepared to pay the admission fee on the spot.
After joining, you will be enrolled as a student of AMRU for the MBBS or BDS programme. Your admission in the 2nd Stray Round is final and binding.
- Joining dates: 10 November & 11 November 2026
- Joining is mandatory — no extensions
- Bring all original documents and be ready to pay fees
- Failure to join = seat cancellation and forfeiture
Who Can Apply?
Any candidate who appeared in NEET UG 2026 and has a valid score can apply for the 2nd Stray Round, regardless of whether they participated in earlier counselling rounds. This includes candidates who did not get a seat in the main rounds, candidates who were allotted a seat but did not join, and candidates who want to try for a different college or course.
Your NEET UG 2026 score and rank are your eligibility. You must meet the basic eligibility criteria for MBBS/BDS (Indian national, passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, age 17 or above as on the date of admission). If you were allotted a seat in an earlier round and joined, you cannot apply again in the stray round.
- Valid NEET UG 2026 score required
- Indian national
- Passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English
- Age 17 or above on date of admission
- Did not join an earlier allotted seat (or did not get one)
Category & Quota Information
Seats in the 2nd Stray Round are allocated under different quotas: General, OBC (Other Backward Classes), SC (Scheduled Caste), and ST (Scheduled Tribe). Your eligibility for each quota depends on your category certificate and the state's reservation policy. The vacancy display (released on 5 November) will show how many seats are available under each quota.

See the real seats your NEET rank can reach.
If you belong to a reserved category (OBC, SC, ST), you must have a valid category certificate issued by the competent authority. The certificate must be in the format prescribed by the state. If your certificate is invalid or missing, you will not be considered for reserved seats and will only be eligible for General seats (if any are available). Ensure your category certificate is in order before applying.
- Quotas: General, OBC, SC, ST
- Reserved category candidates must have a valid category certificate
- Certificate must be issued by competent authority in prescribed format
- Invalid or missing certificate = only General seats available
- Check the vacancy display to see which quotas have vacant seats
Documents You Will Need
When you join the college after allotment, you must bring all original documents. The college will verify these before completing your admission. Missing or incorrect documents can delay or prevent your admission. Below is the complete list of documents typically required — check with your allotted college for any additional requirements specific to that institution.
- NEET UG 2026 admit card (original)
- NEET UG 2026 score card / result (original)
- 10th class certificate or equivalent (original)
- 12th class certificate or equivalent (original)
- Category certificate (if applicable, original)
- Caste certificate (if applicable, original)
- Medical fitness certificate (issued by a registered medical practitioner)
- Character certificate from school/college
- Passport-size photographs (as per college requirement)
- Aadhaar card or other government-issued ID
- Proof of Indian nationality (passport, birth certificate, or Aadhaar)
Common Mistakes That Get Applications Rejected
Many candidates lose their seats due to preventable errors. Below are the most common mistakes — avoid them at all costs.
**Missing the application deadline:** The form closes at 11:00 AM on 5 November. Submitting even one minute late will result in rejection. Do not wait until the last day; apply as soon as the form opens on 3 November.
**Not locking choices:** Filling choices is not enough — you must lock them. If you do not lock by the end of 7 November, you will not be allotted a seat. Many candidates forget this step and lose their opportunity.
**Invalid or missing category certificate:** If you claim a reserved category (OBC, SC, ST) but do not have a valid certificate, you will only be eligible for General seats. If the certificate is in the wrong format or issued by the wrong authority, it may be rejected. Verify your certificate well in advance.
**Not joining on time:** If you do not join the college by 11 November, your seat will be cancelled. There is no extension. Plan your travel and be ready to join immediately after allotment.
**Incomplete or incorrect documents at joining:** Bring all original documents. If any document is missing or incorrect, the college may not complete your admission. Photocopies are not accepted for verification.

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
What is the 2nd Stray Round and who should apply?
The 2nd Stray Round fills seats that remain vacant after the main counselling rounds. You should apply if you did not get a seat in earlier rounds, or if you want to try for a different college or course. Any candidate with a valid NEET UG 2026 score can apply, except those who already joined a college in an earlier round.
When is the application deadline and how do I apply?
The application window is 3 November to 5 November 2026, closing at 11:00 AM on 5 November. You must fill a fresh online application form on the AMRU website (www.amruhp.ac.in). There is no extension — missing this deadline means you cannot participate in this round.
What happens after I submit my application?
On 5 November, AMRU will release the merit list (showing all applicants ranked by NEET score) and the vacancy display (showing which seats are available). You then have 6–7 November to fill and lock your college and course preferences. On 9 November, the allotment list is released. If you are allotted a seat, you must join the college on 10–11 November.
What does 'locking choices' mean and why is it important?
Locking choices means finalizing your preferences for colleges and courses. Once you lock, you cannot change them. The allotment algorithm uses your locked preferences to assign you a seat. If you do not lock your choices by 7 November, you will not be allotted a seat in this round. Locking is mandatory.
Can I change my allotted college or course after the allotment list is released?
No. The allotment is final and binding. You cannot appeal or request a change. If you are unhappy with your allotment, you can only decline it and not join — but then you will lose your seat and cannot participate in any further rounds.
What happens if I do not join the college by 11 November?
If you do not join by 11 November, your seat will be cancelled and forfeited. It will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list. There is no extension for joining. If you are allotted a seat, you must be ready to join immediately.
I belong to a reserved category (OBC/SC/ST). What documents do I need?
You must have a valid category certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format. If your certificate is invalid, missing, or in the wrong format, you will only be eligible for General seats. Verify your certificate well in advance and bring the original when you join the college.
What documents must I bring when I join the college?
Bring all original documents: NEET admit card and score card, 10th and 12th certificates, category certificate (if applicable), medical fitness certificate, character certificate, passport-size photographs, Aadhaar card, and proof of Indian nationality. Photocopies are not accepted for verification. Missing documents can delay or prevent your admission.
Is there a fee for the 2nd Stray Round counselling?
The notice does not mention a counselling fee. However, you will need to pay the college admission fee when you join. The amount varies by college and course. Confirm the fee structure with your allotted college.
What if there is a change in the schedule or a 3rd stray round?
Any changes to the schedule or information about a subsequent round will be uploaded on the AMRU website (www.amruhp.ac.in). Check the website regularly. You can also contact AMRU at coemedicaluniv.mandi@gmail.com or 01905-243967 for updates.
Can I apply if I already have a seat from an earlier round but did not join?
Yes, you can apply for the 2nd Stray Round if you did not join your earlier allotted seat. However, once you are allotted a seat in the stray round and join, you cannot participate in any further rounds.
What is the difference between MBBS and BDS seats in the stray round?
MBBS is a 5.5-year medical degree; BDS is a 5-year dental degree. Both are offered in the stray round. The vacancy display will show how many seats are available for each course. You can choose either course based on your preference and available vacancies.
The 2nd Stray Round is your final opportunity to secure a seat in an MBBS or BDS college in Himachal Pradesh for 2026–27. Act immediately: apply online by 5 November 11:00 AM, lock your choices by 7 November, and be ready to join by 11 November. Check www.amruhp.ac.in daily for updates and ensure all your documents are in order. Do not miss any deadline — there are no extensions.
