What is the Special Stray Round?

The Special Stray Round is a final counselling round conducted by GGSIPU for NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates who have not been allotted any MBBS seat through any counselling process — whether state quota (conducted by state authorities), central/AIQ quota (conducted by MCC, DGHS, or other central bodies), or any other counselling across India. It is designed to fill remaining vacant seats in MBBS (Code 103) programmes at GGSIPU-affiliated medical colleges in Delhi.

Admissions in this round are made purely on merit, based on your NEET UG 2026 All India Rank (AIR). There are no separate category-based quotas or regional preferences — only rank matters. This is a one-time opportunity; if you do not secure a seat in this round, no further counselling will be conducted by GGSIPU for the 2026–27 session.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

You are eligible for the Special Stray Round if you meet ALL of the following conditions:

You must have qualified NEET UG 2026 and achieved the minimum required cut-off percentile and score as per NMC/DCI/NICSM regulations. You must NOT hold any seat — either through state quota counselling (conducted by state authorities), central/AIQ quota (conducted by MCC, DGHS, or central government bodies), or any other counselling process across the country. If you have already been allotted a seat anywhere in India, you are ineligible, even if you have not joined that seat. You must either be registering for the first time (fresh registration) or have already registered and paid the ₹2,500 registration fee with GGSIPU but have not been allotted any seat in previous rounds (Rounds 1, 2, 3, or Stray Vacancy Round).

  • Qualified NEET UG 2026 with minimum required cut-off percentile and score
  • Do NOT hold any seat through state quota, central/AIQ, or any other counselling across India
  • Either registering fresh OR already registered with ₹2,500 fee paid and not allotted in Rounds 1, 2, 3, or Stray Vacancy Round
  • Must have filed fresh choices/preferences for this Special Stray Round

Who is NOT Eligible?

The following candidates cannot participate in the Special Stray Round, even if they have qualified NEET UG 2026:

Any candidate who is currently holding or has joined any seat through state quota, central/AIQ, or any other counselling across the country. Candidates who were allotted a seat in the Stray Vacancy Round but did not follow the required procedure — specifically, did not pay the part academic fee of ₹96,000, did not verify their documents, and did not report at the allotted college. Candidates who have not registered in any previous round (Rounds 1, 2, 3, or Stray Vacancy Round) and have not filed choices/preferences. Candidates who registered in Rounds 1, 2, 3, or Stray Vacancy Round, were not allotted any seat, and have not filed fresh choices/preferences for this Special Stray Round.

  • Holding or joined any seat through state/central/AIQ/any other counselling
  • Allotted in Stray Vacancy Round but did not pay ₹96,000 fee, verify documents, or report to college
  • Never registered in any previous round and have no choices on file
  • Registered in earlier rounds, not allotted, and did not file fresh choices for Special Stray Round

Important Dates and Timeline

The Special Stray Round operates on a very tight schedule. All key activities — registration, document upload, and choice filing — must be completed within just 4 days. Missing any deadline will result in your exclusion from the round.

The result of the Special Stray Round will be declared on 10 November 2026 (Tentative). After the result is declared, further detailed procedures for joining and reporting will be notified separately by GGSIPU. Do not assume the process ends with allotment; you must follow all subsequent instructions to confirm your seat.

Documents You Must Upload

During registration or correction/edit, you must upload clear, legible copies of the following documents. Incomplete or incorrect documentation will result in rejection of your application and cancellation of any allotted seat. Ensure every document is in the correct format and meets the specifications mentioned below.

All documents must be uploaded as PDF files (or as specified by the portal). The portal will guide you through the upload process. Do not wait until the last moment — upload documents early to avoid technical issues or portal congestion.

  • Educational Testimonials (Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets or equivalent qualifying examination certificates)
  • Valid Reserved Category Certificate (if claiming SC/ST/OBC/EWS or other reserved category) — must clearly show the category and sub-category if applicable
  • NEET UG 2026 Score Card (official document showing your NEET score and All India Rank)
  • Class 11 and Class 12 mark sheets (both in a single PDF) — MANDATORY for candidates who studied 10+2 from a recognized school/college in Delhi and passed the qualifying examination from any school/college located in Delhi only. These candidates are eligible for Delhi Category/Quota seats only. Candidates with 'compartment' in their qualifying examination will NOT be considered for admission.

Critical Eligibility Rule for Delhi MBBS Seats

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you studied Class 11 and Class 12 from a recognized school/college in Delhi AND passed your qualifying examination from a school/college located in Delhi, you are eligible ONLY for Delhi Category/Quota seats. You must upload BOTH your Class 11 and Class 12 mark sheets in a single PDF file during document upload.

If you have 'compartment' (a failed subject that you are retaking) in your qualifying examination, you will NOT be considered for admission to MBBS, regardless of your NEET score. This is a strict eligibility criterion. Ensure your qualifying examination is complete and passed without compartment before applying.

The university will verify your eligibility based on the documents you upload. If your documents show compartment or if you do not upload the required mark sheets (when applicable), your seat will be cancelled and all fees forfeited. This is your responsibility to ensure accuracy.

How to Register and File Choices: Step-by-Step Process

The Special Stray Round uses online counselling conducted by GGSIPU. Follow these steps carefully:

**Step 1: Check Your Eligibility.** Before registering, confirm that you meet all eligibility criteria listed above. If you are unsure, contact GGSIPU or review the eligibility section again.

**Step 3: Correct/Edit (if you have already registered).** If you registered in a previous round and paid ₹2,500, log in to the portal using your credentials. Select 'Correction/Edit' for Special Stray Round. Review and update your documents if needed. Ensure all documents are correct and complete.

**Step 4: File Fresh Choices/Preferences.** After registration or correction is complete, you MUST file fresh choices/preferences for the Special Stray Round. This is compulsory — without filing choices, you will not be allotted any seat, even if you are eligible. Log in to the portal. Select the colleges and programmes you wish to be considered for, in order of preference. The portal will show you the available seats in each college. Rank your choices from most preferred to least preferred. Submit your choices before 9 November 2026 at 11:59 p.m. You cannot change your choices after the deadline.

**Step 5: Wait for Result.** The result will be declared on 10 November 2026 (Tentative). Check the portal on that date to see if you have been allotted a seat. If allotted, follow all further instructions issued by GGSIPU for joining and reporting.

The fee is non-refundable, meaning you will not get your money back even if you do not get allotted a seat or if you withdraw from the process. What Happens After Allotment?

If you are allotted a seat in the Special Stray Round, you MUST join the allotted college. Joining is not optional — if you are allotted a seat and do not join, your admission will be cancelled and all fees forfeited.

After the result is declared on 10 November 2026, GGSIPU will issue detailed instructions on how to join, what documents to bring, and the reporting date and time. These instructions will be notified separately — do not assume the process is complete once you see your allotment. You must carefully read and follow all joining instructions.

It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you meet all minimum eligibility criteria for the programme you seek admission to. If at any stage of the admission process your information is found to be incorrect or false, your admission will be cancelled and all fees paid will be forfeited. This includes false claims about category, region, or educational qualifications.

  • Joining is compulsory if allotted; non-joining results in cancellation and fee forfeiture
  • Detailed joining instructions will be issued separately after result declaration
  • You are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all information provided
  • False or incorrect information at any stage will result in cancellation and fee loss

Important Traps and Common Mistakes to Avoid

**Trap 1: Holding a Seat Elsewhere.** If you have already been allotted a seat in any other counselling (state, central, or any other state's counselling), you are ineligible for this Special Stray Round, even if you have not joined that seat. The rule is clear: 'do not hold any seat.' If you are unsure whether you hold a seat, check all counselling portals before applying.

**Trap 2: Not Filing Fresh Choices.** Many candidates register but forget to file fresh choices/preferences. Without filing choices, you will NOT be allotted any seat, even if you are eligible. Filing choices is compulsory and separate from registration. Do not assume registration alone is enough.

**Trap 3: Uploading Wrong Documents.** If you studied Class 11 and 12 in Delhi and passed your qualifying exam in Delhi, you MUST upload both Class 11 and Class 12 mark sheets in a single PDF. If you do not upload these, or if you upload only one, your eligibility for Delhi seats will be questioned and your seat may be cancelled. Similarly, if you claim a reserved category, your category certificate must clearly show the category and sub-category (if applicable).

**Trap 4: Compartment in Qualifying Exam.** If your Class 12 or qualifying examination shows 'compartment' (a failed subject you are retaking), you are ineligible for MBBS admission. Do not apply if you have compartment. If you apply and this is discovered later, your admission will be cancelled.

**Trap 5: Missing the Deadline.** The choice-filing deadline is 9 November 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The portal will close after this time, and no late submissions will be accepted. Do not wait until the last moment — file your choices early to avoid technical issues or internet problems.

**Trap 6: Incorrect Category or Region Information.** If you claim a category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) or region (Delhi) that you are not entitled to, and this is discovered during verification, your admission will be cancelled and all fees forfeited. Ensure all information is accurate and supported by valid certificates.

The certificate must be issued by the competent authority. If your certificate does not clearly show the category or sub-category, your claim may be rejected and your seat cancelled.

Is it my responsibility to ensure I meet all eligibility criteria?

If at any stage your information is found to be incorrect or false, your admission will be cancelled and all fees paid will be forfeited.
