Rajasthan's NEET UG counselling board has opened Round 3 upgradation for all candidates who joined a college in Round 2. If you are currently seated at a medical or dental college and want to try for a better college or course, you can now fill fresh choices. The critical deadline is 11:45 PM on 7 October 2026 — after that, the system auto-locks and no further changes are allowed. Your current joined college is automatically set as your last choice; if you do not get upgraded to a better option, you will retain your current seat. This is your final chance to move up in this admission cycle.
If you joined a college in Round 2, you have until 11:45 PM on 7 October 2026 to fill fresh choices for upgradation; your current college is auto-locked as your safety option.

Unlock My College ListWhat is Round 3 Upgradation?
Round 3 upgradation is a final counselling round designed for candidates who have already joined a medical or dental college in Round 2. It gives you a chance to move to a better college, a different course (MBBS to BDS or vice versa), or a different location — all while keeping your current seat as a fallback.
Unlike earlier rounds where you competed for a fresh allotment, upgradation works differently: you are already secured in a seat, and you are now trying to improve it. If the system finds you a better option based on your new choices and merit rank, you will be allotted the upgraded seat. If not, you automatically stay in your current college.
Who Can Participate in Round 3 Upgradation?
Only candidates who have already joined a college in Round 2 are eligible to participate in Round 3 upgradation. This means you must have received an allotment in Round 2, reported to your college, and completed the joining formalities (submission of documents, payment of fees, and signing of bonds if applicable).
If you did not join any college in Round 2, or if you resigned from your Round 2 seat, you are not eligible for Round 3 upgradation. Candidates who resigned from Round 1 but joined in Round 2 are eligible.
- You must have joined a college in Round 2 (not Round 1 alone)
- You must have completed all joining formalities at your college
- You must not have resigned from your Round 2 seat
Important Dates for Round 3 Upgradation
The choice-filling window for Round 3 upgradation is now open. You must fill and save your fresh choices on the counselling portal (ug.neetrajasthan.com) by the deadline. After 11:45 PM on 7 October 2026, the system will auto-lock — no further changes or additions will be allowed.
Once the deadline passes, the board will process all saved choices and generate the Round 3 allotment list. Candidates who are upgraded will receive a new allotment letter; those not upgraded will retain their Round 2 seat.
- Choice filling window: now open (as of 30 September 2026)
- Last date and time for choice filling and auto-locking: 11:45 PM on 7 October 2026
- No changes allowed after auto-locking
How Your Current College is Treated
Your joined college from Round 2 is automatically set as your last choice in the Round 3 upgradation system. This is a safety mechanism: it ensures that even if you do not get upgraded, you do not lose your seat.
You do not need to manually add your current college to your choice list — the system does this for you. If you fill fresh choices for better colleges and the allotment algorithm does not upgrade you to any of them, you will be retained in your current college with no penalty or loss of seat.
- Your Round 2 joined college is auto-locked as your last choice
- You do not need to add it manually
- If not upgraded, you keep this seat automatically

Seat Availability and Seat Matrix
The board has released the vacant seat matrix for Round 3, showing which colleges have seats available after Round 2 allotment and joining. This matrix includes seats across all categories: general, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, and PwBD/PwD (persons with benchmark disability or persons with disability).
Before filling your choices, download and review the Round 3 seat matrix from the counselling website. This will tell you exactly which colleges have vacancies in MBBS and BDS, and in which categories. Note that seat availability can vary by category; a college may have MBBS seats in the general category but not in SC, for example.
The board has also released the fee structure for all medical and dental colleges. These fees will be applicable at the time of admission. Review the fees for colleges you are interested in so there are no surprises later.

Category and Quota Information
Rajasthan's NEET UG counselling allocates seats across multiple categories: General, OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes — Non-Creamy Layer), SC (Scheduled Caste), ST (Scheduled Tribe), EWS (Economically Weaker Section), and PwBD/PwD (persons with benchmark disability or disability). Your eligibility for each category is determined by your NEET application and verified documents.
When filling choices, you will see seats listed by category. You can only apply for seats in the category(ies) for which you are eligible. If you are unsure of your category eligibility, check your NEET application or contact the counselling board before filling choices.
Note: An OBC-NCL certificate is valid for the MBC-NCL (Most Backward Classes — Non-Creamy Layer) category reservation as well, as per government orders.
- Categories: General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, PwBD/PwD
- Your category is determined by your NEET application and verified documents
- You can only apply for seats in your eligible category
- OBC-NCL certificate is valid for MBC-NCL category as well
NRI Seats and Special Categories
Some colleges in Rajasthan have NRI (Non-Resident Indian) seats reserved for candidates of Indian origin living abroad. If you are eligible as an NRI, you may see NRI seats listed in the choice-filling portal. NRI seats have different fee structures and eligibility criteria; the board has published a separate list of NRI-eligible candidates and their fee details.
Additionally, there are seats reserved for WDP (Widows, Divorced, and Separated women) and WPP (Widows of Police Personnel) categories. If you fall into these categories and have been verified by the board, you will see these seats available in the portal.
- NRI seats are available at select colleges with separate fee structures
- WDP and WPP seats are reserved for eligible candidates
- Check the board's published lists to confirm your eligibility for these categories

What Happens After You Save Your Choices
Once you save your choices and the 7 October 2026 deadline passes, the counselling board will process all saved choices using the allotment algorithm. The algorithm considers your NEET merit rank, your category, your saved choice order, and the availability of seats. It will attempt to allot you the best available seat from your choice list.
If you are allotted a seat better than your current college (higher-ranked college, preferred course, or preferred location), you will receive a new allotment letter for Round 3. You will then be required to join the new college and complete fresh joining formalities. If you are not allotted any seat better than your current one, you will automatically be retained in your Round 2 joined college with no action needed from you.
- Board processes all saved choices using the allotment algorithm
- Algorithm considers your merit rank, category, choice order, and seat availability
- If upgraded: you receive a new allotment letter and must join the new college
- If not upgraded: you are automatically retained in your Round 2 college
Resignation from Round 2 Seat (Before Upgradation)
If you have joined a college in Round 2 but now wish to resign and not participate in Round 3 upgradation, you may do so. However, the board has announced that resignation is permitted only on 2 and 3 October 2026 (10 AM to 5 PM) at your respective college. You must produce your Round 2 allotment letter and will forfeit your security deposit upon resignation.
If you resign, you will not be eligible for Round 3 upgradation. This option is only for candidates who wish to exit the counselling process entirely. Do not resign if you wish to try for upgradation.
- Resignation window: 2 and 3 October 2026, 10 AM to 5 PM, at your college
- You must produce your Round 2 allotment letter
- Your security deposit will be forfeited
- If you resign, you cannot participate in Round 3 upgradation
- Only resign if you wish to exit the admission process
Common Mistakes to Avoid
**Not saving your choices:** Many candidates fill choices but forget to click the 'Save' button. Unsaved choices are not considered in the allotment. Always verify on screen that your choices have been saved before leaving the portal.
**Filling choices after the deadline:** The system auto-locks at 11:45 PM on 7 October 2026. Any attempt to fill or edit choices after this time will fail. Do not wait until the last minute; fill your choices well in advance.
**Applying for seats in the wrong category:** If you apply for a seat in a category for which you are not eligible, your application for that seat will be rejected. Verify your category eligibility before filling choices.
**Not reviewing the seat matrix:** Applying for colleges with no vacant seats in your category is a wasted choice. Always check the Round 3 seat matrix to confirm seat availability before adding a college to your list.
**Ignoring fee structures:** Some colleges have very high fees. Review the fee structure before choosing a college to avoid financial surprises later.
**Resigning by mistake:** If you resign from your Round 2 seat before the upgradation window closes, you lose your seat and cannot participate in Round 3. Do not resign unless you are certain you want to exit.

These fees are applicable at the time of admission and vary by college type (government, private, ESIC, NRI) and course (MBBS or BDS).
