The Stray Vacancy Round is the final round of NEET UG counselling conducted by MCC for All India Quota seats. It is held after all previous rounds (Round 1, Round 2, and mop-up rounds) to fill any remaining vacant seats in MBBS and BDS colleges across India.
In this round, candidates who were not allotted a seat in earlier rounds, or who did not accept their earlier allotment, get another chance to apply for available vacancies. The Stray Vacancy Round typically has the lowest cutoff scores because it fills whatever seats remain.

A provisional result is not final. It shows the allotments made based on the applications received and the merit order, but it is subject to verification of documents and eligibility. MCC will review the results to ensure all candidates meet the eligibility criteria before issuing the final result.
If there are any discrepancies, errors, or if a candidate's eligibility is found to be incorrect during verification, the allotment may be cancelled or changed. Therefore, do not assume your seat is confirmed until MCC publishes the final result.

Every kind of MBBS/BDS seat, one rank
See the real seats your NEET rank can reach.
If you have been allotted a seat, you must report to your college on the date specified by MCC with all required documents (mark sheets, category certificate, domicile certificate, etc.). Failure to report on time may result in your seat being cancelled.
What If You Were Not Allotted a Seat?
If your name does not appear in the provisional result, it means no seat was available for you in the Stray Vacancy Round. This does not mean you cannot pursue MBBS or BDS — you may be eligible for seats in private colleges, deemed universities, or other counselling processes.
Check the official MCC announcements for any further rounds or alternative counselling options. Some states also conduct their own counselling for state quota seats, so stay in touch with your state medical authority.
Important: Verify Your Details Immediately
As soon as you see the provisional result, check every detail carefully: your name, registration number, category, college name, course, and seat type. If you spot any error — a wrong name spelling, wrong category, or wrong college — report it to MCC immediately.
Errors in the provisional result can sometimes be corrected before the final result is published, but you must flag them quickly. Contact MCC's helpline or email with proof of the error and a request for correction.

What is the difference between provisional and final result?
The provisional result shows allotments based on merit and applications, but it is subject to verification of your documents and eligibility. The final result is issued after MCC has verified all candidates' documents and confirmed their eligibility. Your seat is not confirmed until the final result is published.
If I am allotted a seat in the provisional result, is it guaranteed?
No. The allotment is provisional and can be cancelled if your documents are found to be incomplete, incorrect, or if you do not meet the eligibility criteria. You must report to your college with all required documents on the date specified by MCC to confirm your seat.
What should I do if I find an error in my allotment letter?
Contact MCC immediately through their official website, email, or helpline. Provide proof of the error and request a correction. Errors in the provisional result may sometimes be corrected before the final result, but you must report them quickly.
What happens if I was not allotted a seat in the Stray Vacancy Round?
If your name does not appear in the result, no seat was available for you in this round. Check for other counselling options, such as private college counselling, deemed university admissions, or state-level counselling. Stay updated with MCC and your state medical authority for any further rounds.
When do I need to report to my college after the provisional result?
MCC will announce the reporting date and deadline in a separate notification after the provisional result is published. Check the official MCC website regularly for this announcement. Failure to report by the deadline may result in your seat being cancelled.
Can I reject my allotment in the Stray Vacancy Round?
Yes, you can reject your allotment if you wish. MCC will announce a deadline for accepting or rejecting your allotment. If you reject, you will not be eligible for any further rounds of counselling in NEET UG 2026.
What documents do I need to bring when I report to my college?
Typically, you will need your mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, identity proof, and your allotment letter. Your college will provide a detailed list of required documents in a separate notification. Check your college's website or the MCC portal for the complete list.
Is the Stray Vacancy Round the last round of NEET UG 2026 counselling?
Yes, the Stray Vacancy Round is typically the final round of MCC counselling for All India Quota seats. After this round, no further counselling rounds are conducted by MCC for NEET UG 2026.
What if my college is very far from my home?
You must still report to your allotted college on the date specified by MCC. If you cannot travel, you may contact your college to request a postponement or alternative arrangement, but this is at the college's discretion. Failure to report without valid reason will result in cancellation of your seat.
Check the official MCC portal (mcc.nic.in) immediately to view your provisional allotment result. Verify all details on your allotment letter, and watch for MCC's next announcement regarding the reporting date and final result. If you have been allotted a seat, prepare your documents and plan to report to your college on the date specified.
