The notice says three private medical/dental colleges are in the process of becoming private universities. Because this conversion is not yet complete, these colleges will not take part in the First Admission Round of Maharashtra's CAP (Centralised Admission Process) counselling for the 2026–27 academic year. Which colleges are affected
The State CET Cell has named three institutions that are in the process of setting up their own private universities. Until this process is legally complete, they are being kept out of the first round of state counselling.

Why they are skipping the First Admission Round
According to the notice, these colleges are each in the process of establishing a private university. Setting up a private university requires completing certain legal and administrative formalities. Until that process is finished for each college, the State CET Cell has decided they will not be included as options in the First Admission Round of MBBS/BDS CAP counselling for 2026–27.
The notice states that once a college completes the formalities and gets recognition/approval as a private university, it can join a subsequent (later) admission round. Candidates should therefore not expect to see these three colleges in the Round 1 choice-filling list, but should keep checking later rounds if they are interested in these institutions.
New rules that apply once a college becomes a private university
The notice refers to Clause 9.3 of the NEET UG 2026 Information Brochure, which lays down special conditions that apply to a college after it is officially recognised as a private university. These are different from the rules that apply to ordinary private (non-university) medical/dental colleges, so candidates need to understand them before choosing these colleges in later rounds.
- Domicile reservation: 40% of the college's institutional-quota seats will be reserved only for candidates holding a Maharashtra Domicile Certificate.
- Fees: The fee will be whatever the college's own private university Fee Fixation Committee decides — not the fee approved by the state's regular Fee Regulating Authority for other private colleges.
- No government financial help: Students admitted to these colleges will NOT be eligible for any government scholarship scheme or any fee reimbursement scheme.
What this means if you are targeting one of these colleges
If any of these three colleges was on your shortlist, keep two things in mind. First, you will not be able to select them in the Round 1 option form of Maharashtra CAP 2026 — plan your Round 1 choices around colleges that are actually available in that round. Second, if and when these colleges appear in a later round (after they get private university status), the seat, fee and scholarship rules will be different from a normal private college: fewer government-regulated fee seats, a fixed 40% domicile quota, and no eligibility for any state scholarship or EBC/other fee-reimbursement scheme.
This matters most for candidates who are counting on a government scholarship or fee reimbursement scheme (for example, schemes for reserved categories, EWS, or minority students) to afford their MBBS/BDS fees — such support will not be available if you take admission in these colleges after they convert to private universities.
Candidates without a Maharashtra Domicile Certificate should also note that 60% of the seats will remain open to them, while 40% will be locked for domicile holders — this affects how competitive a seat may be for outstation candidates.
Important note on language of the notice
The notice was issued in both Marathi and English. The State CET Cell has clarified that if there is any difference or inconsistency between the Marathi and English versions, the English version will be treated as final and binding.

Can I select these three colleges in the Round 1 option form for Maharashtra CAP 2026?
