What is this list and why does it matter?

This is the official provisional list of candidates eligible to fill choices in West Bengal's Special Stray Round (for MBBS seats) and Round 5 (for BDS seats) under NEET UG 2026 counselling. The list was published on 6 November 2026 and contains 4,046 candidates ranked by their All India Rank (AIR).

Your appearance on this list is mandatory to participate in the upcoming counselling round. If your name is not here, you cannot register or fill choices, even if you qualified NEET. This is a provisional list — it may be updated if errors are found or if candidates withdraw. Always cross-check your details against the official document.

How to find your name on the list

The list is arranged by serial number (Sr.No.) and includes your All India Rank, full name, category, PwD status, and candidate type. Search by your All India Rank or name using the PDF's search function (Ctrl+F on Windows, Cmd+F on Mac).

The list spans 71 pages. If you cannot find your name quickly, verify that you have the correct NEET UG 2026 list for West Bengal Special Stray/Round 5, not an earlier year's list or a different state's list. The document header clearly states 'West Bengal UG Medical and Dental Counselling 2026'.

Understanding the columns in the list

Each row contains six key pieces of information about you:

**Sr.No.** — your serial number on this list (1 to 4046). **All India Rank** — your NEET UG 2026 rank across all of India. **Name** — your full name as registered in NEET. **Category** — General, Other Backward Class (OBC), Schedule Caste (SC), Schedule Tribe (ST), or a category with EWS (Economically Weaker Section) or PwD (Person with Disability) suffix. **PwD Status** — 'Yes' if you have registered as a person with disability, 'No' otherwise. **Candidate Type** — 'State Quota' (eligible for West Bengal state seats), 'Private Management Only' (eligible only for private medical/dental colleges), or 'NRI Quota' (if applicable).

  • Sr.No. — your position on this list
  • All India Rank — your NEET score rank nationally
  • Name — as registered in NEET
  • Category — General, OBC, SC, ST, or with EWS/PwD suffix
  • PwD Status — disability status (Yes/No)
  • Candidate Type — State Quota, Private Management Only, or NRI Quota

What does 'Candidate Type' mean?

Your candidate type determines which seats you can apply for in counselling. **State Quota** means you are eligible for West Bengal government medical and dental college seats reserved for state candidates. This is the most common type and gives you access to the widest range of seats. **Private Management Only** means you can apply only to private medical and dental colleges in West Bengal; you are not eligible for government seats. This status is typically assigned to candidates who do not meet the state residency or domicile criteria. **NRI Quota** (if shown) means you are eligible for seats reserved for Non-Resident Indians; this is rare and applies only to specific candidates.

Check your candidate type carefully. If it says 'Private Management Only' but you believe you should be eligible for state quota seats, contact WBMCC immediately with proof of your eligibility (domicile certificate, etc.) before counselling begins.

Category and PwD status — what they mean for your counselling

Your **Category** determines which seats you compete for. General candidates compete for unreserved seats. OBC candidates compete for OBC-reserved seats (27% of seats in West Bengal). SC candidates compete for SC-reserved seats (15%). ST candidates compete for ST-reserved seats (7%). Some candidates have a suffix like 'EWS' (Economically Weaker Section) or 'PwD' (Person with Disability), which may entitle them to additional reservations or relaxations.

Your **PwD Status** shows whether you registered as a person with disability in NEET. If it says 'Yes', you are eligible for PwD-reserved seats and may receive relaxations in cutoff marks. If it says 'No' but you believe you should have PwD status, contact WBMCC with your disability certificate before counselling. Do not assume you can add or change your PwD status during counselling — it must be corrected now.

What happens next? Timeline for Special Stray Round and Round 5

This provisional list is the first step. WBMCC will announce the exact dates for choice filling, processing, and allotment for the Special Stray Round (MBBS) and Round 5 (BDS) in a separate notification. These dates have not yet been published as of 6 November 2026. Watch the official WBMCC website (wbmcc.gov.in) and your registered email and phone number for updates.

Typically, after a provisional list is released, WBMCC allows 2–3 days for candidates to report errors or objections. If you spot a mistake in your name, rank, category, or candidate type, file a formal objection immediately with supporting documents. After the objection window closes, the list becomes final, and counselling dates are announced. You will then have a set window (usually 2–3 days) to log in, fill your choices of colleges and courses, and submit.

Important: Verify your details now

Do not wait until counselling begins to check this list. Verify your name, All India Rank, category, PwD status, and candidate type immediately. If any detail is wrong, contact WBMCC at the address or phone number provided in their official notification as soon as possible. Errors in category or candidate type can disqualify you from seats you are entitled to, or lock you into seats you are not eligible for.

Common errors include: name spelled differently than in your NEET registration, wrong category (e.g., listed as General when you are OBC), PwD status marked 'No' when you registered as PwD, or candidate type showing 'Private Management Only' when you should be State Quota. If you spot any of these, do not assume it will be corrected automatically — raise it immediately.

Who is NOT on this list and why?

If your name does not appear on this list, it means you are not eligible for the Special Stray Round (MBBS) or Round 5 (BDS) in West Bengal. This can happen for several reasons: you did not qualify NEET UG 2026 (score below the cutoff), you are from a state other than West Bengal and are not eligible for West Bengal seats, you have already been allotted a seat in an earlier round and have not withdrawn, or there is an administrative error in your registration.

If you believe you should be on this list, contact WBMCC immediately with your NEET admit card, score card, and any other relevant documents. Do not assume you will be added later — the counselling process moves quickly, and missing the choice-filling window means you lose your chance for this round.

Special Stray Round vs. Round 5 — which applies to you?

**Special Stray Round** is for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) seats. **Round 5** is for BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) seats. Both are being conducted together, and this single list covers eligible candidates for both. When you fill your choices, you will select colleges and courses separately — you can choose MBBS colleges, BDS colleges, or both, depending on your preference and eligibility.

If you are interested in MBBS only, you will fill only MBBS college choices. If you are interested in BDS only, you will fill only BDS college choices. If you are open to either, you can fill both. The counselling system will then allot you a seat based on your choices, merit rank, category, and availability.

Private Management Only candidates — what you need to know

If your candidate type is listed as 'Private Management Only', you are eligible to apply only to private medical and dental colleges in West Bengal. You cannot apply to government college seats, even if your rank is high. This status is usually assigned to candidates who do not meet the domicile or residency requirements for state quota seats.

Private colleges in West Bengal charge significantly higher fees than government colleges. Before counselling, research the fees, infrastructure, and reputation of private colleges you are interested in. Also check whether the college is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or Dental Council of India (DCI) — only recognized colleges award degrees that are valid for practice. If you believe you should be eligible for state quota seats, contact WBMCC with proof of domicile before counselling begins.

How to prepare for choice filling

Once WBMCC announces the choice-filling dates, you will have a limited window (usually 2–3 days) to log in to the counselling portal, review available colleges and courses, and submit your ranked list of choices. Preparation now will save you time and help you make better decisions. Research West Bengal's government and private medical and dental colleges: their location, infrastructure, faculty, placement record, and fees. Decide which colleges you prefer and in what order. Understand the cutoff marks for your category and candidate type in previous rounds (if available) to gauge your chances.

Keep your NEET admit card, score card, and all required documents (domicile, caste certificate if applicable, PwD certificate if applicable) ready. Have a stable internet connection and a device (computer or phone) ready for the choice-filling window. Do not wait until the last day — the portal often becomes slow, and you risk missing the deadline. Fill and submit your choices at least a few hours before the deadline.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am eligible for the Special Stray Round or Round 5?

If your name appears on this provisional list released on 6 November 2026, you are eligible. Search the list by your All India Rank or name. If you are not on the list, you are not eligible for this round. Eligibility depends on your NEET UG 2026 score, category, state of domicile, and whether you have already been allotted a seat in an earlier round.

What is the difference between 'State Quota' and 'Private Management Only' candidate types?

State Quota candidates can apply for government medical and dental college seats in West Bengal. Private Management Only candidates can apply only to private colleges. Your candidate type is determined by your domicile and eligibility criteria set by WBMCC. If you believe your type is wrong, contact WBMCC immediately with proof of domicile.

I found an error in my name, category, or rank on the list. What should I do?

Contact WBMCC immediately with your NEET admit card, score card, and any supporting documents. Do not wait for counselling to begin. WBMCC typically allows 2–3 days after releasing the provisional list for candidates to report errors. After that window closes, the list becomes final, and corrections become much harder to make.

My PwD status is marked 'No' but I registered as PwD in NEET. Can I change it during counselling?

No. Your PwD status must be corrected before counselling begins. Contact WBMCC immediately with your disability certificate and NEET admit card. Do not assume it will be corrected automatically during counselling — it will not be.

When will the choice-filling window open for Special Stray Round and Round 5?

WBMCC has not yet announced the exact dates as of 6 November 2026. Watch the official WBMCC website (wbmcc.gov.in) and your registered email and phone number for updates. Typically, choice filling opens 2–3 days after the provisional list is released and remains open for 2–3 days.

Can I apply for both MBBS and BDS in the same counselling round?

Yes. This list covers eligible candidates for both Special Stray Round (MBBS) and Round 5 (BDS). When you fill your choices, you can select MBBS colleges, BDS colleges, or both. The system will allot you a seat based on your choices and merit rank.

I am on the list but my rank is very high (low number). Does that guarantee me a seat?

No. A high rank improves your chances, but a seat is not guaranteed. Your final allotment depends on your choices, the number of seats available in your category, and how many candidates ahead of you also choose the same college and course. Always fill multiple choices in order of preference.

What if I am not on this list? Can I still participate in counselling?

No. Only candidates on the official provisional list can participate in Special Stray Round or Round 5 counselling. If you are not on the list, you are not eligible for this round. If you believe this is an error, contact WBMCC immediately with your NEET documents.

Is this list final, or can it change?

This is a provisional list. WBMCC may update it if errors are found or if candidates withdraw. However, the core list is unlikely to change significantly. Always check the official WBMCC website for any updates or corrections before counselling begins.

I am a Private Management Only candidate. Can I apply for government college seats?

No. Private Management Only candidates can apply only to private medical and dental colleges. You cannot apply for government seats. If you believe you should be eligible for state quota (government) seats, contact WBMCC with proof of domicile before counselling.

What documents do I need to have ready for counselling?

Keep your NEET admit card, NEET score card, domicile certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), and any other documents mentioned in WBMCC's counselling notification. Have these ready before the choice-filling window opens so you can upload them quickly if required.

How many choices should I fill, and in what order?

WBMCC will specify the maximum number of choices you can fill in the counselling notification. Fill as many as possible, in order of your genuine preference. Rank colleges and courses from most to least preferred. The system will allot you the highest-ranked choice for which you are eligible based on your rank and category.

Check this provisional list immediately to confirm your eligibility for Special Stray Round (MBBS) or Round 5 (BDS) counselling. If your name is on the list, verify all details — name, rank, category, PwD status, and candidate type — and report any errors to WBMCC within the objection window (typically 2–3 days). Watch the official WBMCC website for the choice-filling dates and counselling schedule. Prepare now by researching colleges and keeping your documents ready.
