On 14 September 2026, Chhattisgarh's Directorate of Medical Education released the official schedule for Round 2 scrutiny and admission in MBBS and BDS programmes. This is the second round of seat allotment after the first round. If you have been allotted a seat in this round, you must now complete scrutiny (document verification) at your allotted college and formally join by the deadline. Missing these dates will result in forfeiture of your seat and registration fee. This notice sets out the exact dates, colleges where scrutiny happens, and what you must do to secure your admission.

Scrutiny (document verification) runs 16–22 September 2026 in physical mode at your allotted college; you must join by 22 September 5:00 PM or lose your seat and fee.

What is Round 2 Scrutiny and Admission?

Round 2 is the second phase of seat allotment in Chhattisgarh's NEET UG counselling for MBBS and BDS courses. After the first round, some seats remain vacant because candidates either did not join or declined their allotment. These vacant seats are now being filled in Round 2.

Scrutiny is the formal document verification process. Once you are allotted a seat in Round 2, you must physically visit your allotted college during the scrutiny window, present your original documents, and have them checked by the college authorities. This is not optional—it is mandatory. Without completing scrutiny, your admission is not confirmed.

After scrutiny, you must formally join the college by submitting the required paperwork and paying any applicable fees. Joining means you are officially enrolled as a student for the 2026–27 academic session.

Important Dates for Round 2 Scrutiny and Admission

All dates and times are in Server Time (IST). The scrutiny and admission process is conducted in physical (offline) mode only—there is no online option. All holidays are treated as working days for this round, so the process continues even on public holidays.

Mandatory Scrutiny and Joining Rules – Read Carefully

The Chhattisgarh Medical Undergraduate Admission Rules 2025, Rule 7(viii), state that after allotment, all candidates must personally appear at their allotted college during the scrutiny window, present their original documents for verification, and complete the joining process by the deadline. This is not optional.

**For Government Medical Colleges:** Joining is mandatory. If you do not join a government medical college by the deadline, you will be automatically removed from the counselling and admission process for the current academic session.

**For Private Medical, Government Dental, Private Dental Colleges:** Joining is not mandatory, but scrutiny (document verification) is mandatory for all allotted candidates. You must complete scrutiny and be found eligible. If you do not appear for scrutiny, you will be disqualified from the counselling process.

**Critical Rule on Forfeiture:** If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 or any subsequent round and you do not join by the deadline, or if you join and then abandon the seat, your entire registration fee will be forfeited (kept by the state). You will not get a refund. This applies to all candidates, regardless of college type.

Who Does NOT Need to Appear for Scrutiny?

Two categories of candidates are exempt from appearing for scrutiny in this round:

**Candidates with Seat Retained:** If your seat was retained from Round 1 (meaning you were already allotted and joined in Round 1), you do not need to appear for scrutiny again in Round 2.

**Candidates with Upgrade and Valid Medical Certificate:** If you were allotted in Round 1, you received an upgrade (a better college or course) in Round 2, and you have already obtained a valid medical certificate in the proper format from your previous allotted college, you do not need to undergo medical examination again at your new college. However, you must still complete the joining process at your new college within the deadline.

Candidates Upgraded to a New College – Relieving Letter Required

If you were allotted in Round 1 and have now received an upgrade to a different college in Round 2, you must obtain a Relieving Letter from your previous college before joining your new college. A Relieving Letter is an official document confirming that your previous college has released you and you are free to join the new college.

You must obtain this letter from your previous college and submit it to your new college during the joining process. Without a Relieving Letter, your joining at the new college may not be completed. Ensure you collect this document immediately after the allotment is announced.

Documents You Must Bring for Scrutiny

When you appear for scrutiny at your allotted college, you must bring all original documents listed below. The college will verify each document against your application. If any document is missing or does not match the information in your application, your scrutiny may be rejected and you could lose your seat.

Bring originals, not photocopies, unless specifically stated. The college will check them and may ask for certified copies of some documents.

  • NEET UG 2026 admit card and score card
  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
  • Caste/Category certificate (if applicable) — must be issued by the competent authority in your district
  • Income certificate (if applicable) — issued by the competent authority
  • Domicile/Residence certificate — issued by the competent authority in your district
  • Medical fitness certificate (if required by the college)
  • Character certificate from your school or college
  • Passport-size photographs (as per college requirement)
  • Any other document specified in your allotment letter or by the college

Critical Trap: Caste and Category Certificates

If you have claimed a reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, etc.) in your NEET application, you MUST bring an original caste certificate issued by the Competent Authority (usually the District Magistrate or Tehsildar) of your district. The certificate must clearly state your caste and the category (SC/ST/OBC/General).

**Important:** A caste certificate issued by a municipal corporation, gram panchayat, or any unofficial source will NOT be accepted. It must be from the official Competent Authority. If your certificate is not from the correct authority, your scrutiny will be rejected and you will lose your seat. Do not wait until the last day to verify this—check now and obtain a fresh certificate if needed.

How to Prepare and What to Do Now

**Step 1: Check Your Allotment Letter.** Log in to the official counselling portal (https://cgdme.admissions.nic.in or www.cgdme.in) and download your Round 2 allotment letter. It will show your allotted college, course (MBBS or BDS), and the scrutiny centre.

**Step 2: Gather All Documents.** Collect all original documents listed above. If any document is missing or incorrect, obtain it immediately. Do not wait until 22 September.

**Step 3: Verify Caste and Category Certificates.** If you have claimed a reserved category, ensure your caste certificate is from the Competent Authority of your district. If it is not, apply for a fresh one now.

**Step 4: Plan Your Travel.** Note the scrutiny centre address and plan to arrive well before 4:00 PM on 22 September 2026. Scrutiny happens in physical mode only—you must be present in person.

**Step 5: Complete Joining.** After scrutiny, complete the joining formalities at the college by 5:00 PM on 22 September 2026. This includes submitting documents, paying any applicable fees, and signing the admission form.

**Step 6: Monitor Official Websites.** Check www.cgdme.in and https://cgdme.admissions.nic.in regularly for any updates, further rounds, or additional instructions.

What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?

If you do not complete scrutiny by 4:00 PM on 22 September 2026, or if you do not join by 5:00 PM on 22 September 2026, your seat will be cancelled. You will be removed from the counselling process for the current academic session (2026–27).

**Your registration fee will be forfeited.** This means the money you paid to register for counselling will be kept by the state and you will not receive a refund. You will not be eligible for any further rounds of counselling in 2026–27.

If you have a genuine emergency (medical, family, etc.) that prevents you from appearing, contact the Directorate of Medical Education immediately with proof. However, extensions are rarely granted, so do not rely on this.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between scrutiny and joining?

Scrutiny is document verification—the college checks your original documents against your application to confirm you are eligible. Joining is the formal admission process where you submit documents, pay fees, and sign the admission form. Both must be completed by 22 September 2026. Scrutiny must be done by 4:00 PM, and joining must be completed by 5:00 PM.

I was allotted in Round 1 and joined. Do I need to appear for scrutiny again in Round 2?

No, if your seat was retained from Round 1 (you were already allotted and joined), you do not need to appear for scrutiny in Round 2. However, if you received an upgrade to a different college, you must complete the joining process at your new college by 22 September 5:00 PM, and you must bring a Relieving Letter from your previous college.

What documents must I bring for scrutiny?

Bring all original documents: NEET admit card and score card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, caste/category certificate (if applicable), income certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, medical fitness certificate (if required), character certificate, and passport-size photographs. Do not bring photocopies unless the college specifically asks for them.

My caste certificate is from the municipal corporation, not the District Magistrate. Will it be accepted?

No. Caste certificates must be issued by the Competent Authority (District Magistrate, Tehsildar, or equivalent official authority) of your district. Certificates from municipal corporations, gram panchayats, or unofficial sources will not be accepted. If your certificate is not from the correct authority, your scrutiny will be rejected and you will lose your seat. Obtain a fresh certificate from the Competent Authority immediately.

What happens if I do not appear for scrutiny by 22 September 4:00 PM?

Your seat will be cancelled and you will be removed from the counselling process. Your registration fee will be forfeited (kept by the state) and you will not receive a refund. You will not be eligible for any further rounds in 2026–27.

I joined a government medical college in Round 1. Is joining mandatory in Round 2 if I get an upgrade?

Yes. If you receive an upgrade to a different college in Round 2, you must join that new college by 22 September 5:00 PM. Joining is mandatory for government medical colleges. If you do not join, your seat will be cancelled and your fee will be forfeited.

Can I do scrutiny and joining online?

No. Scrutiny and joining are conducted in physical (offline) mode only. You must appear in person at your allotted college with all original documents. There is no online option.

I have a medical emergency and cannot appear by 22 September. Can I get an extension?

Extensions are rarely granted. However, if you have a genuine emergency with proof (medical certificate, etc.), contact the Directorate of Medical Education immediately. Do not wait until the last day. Extensions are not guaranteed, so plan to appear on time.

Where do I find my allotment letter and which college I have been allotted to?

Log in to the official counselling portal at https://cgdme.admissions.nic.in or www.cgdme.in using your NEET roll number and password. Download your Round 2 allotment letter. It will show your allotted college, course, and the scrutiny centre address.

I received an upgrade from a private college to a government college. Do I need a Relieving Letter?

Yes. If you were allotted to any college in Round 1 and have now received an upgrade to a different college in Round 2, you must obtain a Relieving Letter from your previous college before joining the new college. Submit this letter during the joining process at your new college.

Are holidays treated as working days for scrutiny and joining?

Yes. The notice states that all holidays are treated as working days. Scrutiny and joining will continue even on public holidays. The deadline remains 22 September 2026 at 4:00 PM for scrutiny and 5:00 PM for joining, regardless of whether it falls on a holiday.

What is the difference between government and private college scrutiny?

Scrutiny happens at your allotted college, whether it is government or private. The process is the same: document verification in physical mode. However, joining is mandatory for government medical colleges but not mandatory for private colleges (though scrutiny is mandatory for all). If you do not join a government college, you lose your seat. For private colleges, if you do not join, you lose your seat but joining itself is not legally mandatory—scrutiny is.

Your Round 2 allotment is now live. Download your allotment letter from https://cgdme.admissions.nic.in or www.cgdme.in immediately. Gather all original documents, verify your caste certificate is from the Competent Authority, and plan to appear for scrutiny at your allotted college by 22 September 2026 at 4:00 PM. Complete joining by 5:00 PM the same day. Missing this deadline will result in forfeiture of your seat and registration fee. Do not delay—act now.
