Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Andhra Pradesh, has opened a Special Stray Round of counselling for MBBS and BDS admission under Management Quota for the 2026–27 academic year. This round is for candidates who did not secure a seat in earlier All India Quota or State Quota rounds. MBBS seats are available only in the NRI Lapsed (Category-C) category, while BDS seats are open in both Category-B and NRI Lapsed categories. A total of 69 MBBS vacancies are available across 13 colleges. Applications open on 04 November 2026 at 6:00 PM and close on 06 November 2026 at 2:00 PM. This is your last chance to secure a medical or dental seat for 2026–27 if you have not yet been allotted.
Apply by 06 Nov 2026 at 2:00 PM for 69 MBBS (NRI Lapsed) or BDS (Category-B/NRI Lapsed) Management Quota seats; allotment on 09 Nov, reporting by 11 Nov.

Unlock My College ListWhat is the Special Stray Round?
The Special Stray Round is a final counselling round held after all regular counselling rounds are complete. It is designed to fill any remaining vacant seats in medical and dental colleges. In this round, NTRUHS is offering 69 MBBS seats (all in the NRI Lapsed category) and an unspecified number of BDS seats (in Category-B and NRI Lapsed categories) under Management Quota.
This round is open only to candidates who have NOT been allotted any seat in earlier rounds of All India Quota (AIQ) or State Quota (Competent Authority Quota or Management Quota) counselling, regardless of whether they applied for MBBS or BDS. If you already hold a seat from any earlier round, you are not eligible for this Special Stray Round.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
You are eligible if you meet ALL of the following conditions:
You must have a valid NEET UG 2026 rank card. You must NOT be holding any seat in MBBS or BDS from earlier counselling rounds (All India Quota or State Quota). You must not be on the All India Quota Special Stray Round list that will be released on 07 November 2026 by the Medical Counselling Committee. You must be applying for the first time in this Special Stray Round (not a repeat application).
- Valid NEET UG 2026 rank card
- No seat held in any earlier round of AIQ or State Quota (CQ or MQ)
- Not on the AIQ Special Stray Round exclusion list (to be published 07 Nov 2026)
- First-time applicant in this Special Stray Round
Important Eligibility Trap: You Cannot Hold Two Seats
This is critical: if you are currently holding ANY seat in MBBS or BDS from earlier counselling rounds—whether in All India Quota or State Quota, whether in Competent Authority Quota or Management Quota—you are NOT eligible to apply in this Special Stray Round. The university will reject your application if you attempt to apply while holding a seat.
Additionally, if you applied for Competent Authority (Convener) Quota seats in an earlier round, that application will NOT be considered for Management Quota seats in this round. Each quota has separate applications, and you cannot transfer between them.
- Holding any MBBS/BDS seat from earlier rounds = automatic ineligibility
- Competent Authority Quota applications do NOT carry over to Management Quota
- Attempting to apply while ineligible may result in rejection and loss of application fee
Important Dates and Timeline
The entire Special Stray Round process is compressed into a very short window. You must act quickly and meet every deadline. Missing even one date will cost you your seat.
Note: Classes for MBBS have already begun on 15 September 2026. If you are allotted a seat, you will join mid-semester and must catch up with the curriculum.

Application Fees: What You Must Pay
The application fee depends on your category and whether you are applying for the first time or upgrading from Category-B to NRI Lapsed status.
For MBBS (NRI Lapsed Category-C): If you are applying for the first time, the fee is ₹31,000 (New Registration). This includes the application fee, processing fee, and verification fee. For BDS (Category-B to NRI Lapsed upgrade): If you were previously in Category-B and are now upgrading to NRI Lapsed status, the fee is ₹6,000.
CRITICAL: Once you pay the fee, it is NON-REFUNDABLE and will NOT be adjusted to any future round or date, even if you do not get a seat or if you withdraw. The university will not refund or adjust the fee under any circumstances. Therefore, verify your eligibility carefully before paying.

Documents Required: Complete Checklist
You must upload scanned copies of ALL the documents listed below. Each document must be in PDF format (except photo and signature, which are JPG/JPEG) and must not exceed the file size limit. If you miss even one mandatory document, your application will be automatically rejected and you will not be considered for merit ranking.
The university will not accept incomplete applications or applications with missing documents. Verify that every document is clear, legible, and within the file size limit before uploading.
| Document | File Type | Max Size | Mandatory? |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEET UG 2026 Rank Card | 500 KB | Yes | |

| Candidate's Latest Passport Size Photo | JPG/JPEG | 100 KB | Yes |

Critical Document Trap: Qualifying Exam Certificate
The university will ONLY accept Intermediate Marks Memo or an Equivalent Grade Certificate as proof of your qualifying exam (12th standard). A Grade Certificate alone is NOT accepted. If you submit only a Grade Certificate without the Intermediate Marks Memo, your application will be rejected.
Make sure you upload the Intermediate Marks Memo (the official marks sheet from your board) or an equivalent document that shows your marks. Do not rely on a Grade Certificate alone.
- Intermediate Marks Memo = ACCEPTED
- Equivalent Grade Certificate = ACCEPTED (if it shows marks)
- Grade Certificate alone (without marks) = REJECTED
- Upload the correct document or your application will be rejected
NRI Lapsed Category: The Notarized Affidavit Requirement
If you are applying for an NRI Lapsed seat (Category-C for MBBS or NRI Lapsed for BDS), you MUST upload a Notarized Affidavit of Parental Financial Status. This is a legal document that your parent or guardian must sign before a notary public. The affidavit must declare your family's total annual income, the sources of that income, and confirm that your parents have the financial capacity to pay the full tuition fee for the entire course duration (4.5 years for MBBS, 4 years for BDS).
The affidavit template is provided in Annexure-II of this notification. Your parent must fill it out completely, sign it, and have it notarized by a notary public. The notarized document must then be scanned and uploaded as a PDF (max 2000 KB). If you do not upload this affidavit, your NRI Lapsed application will be rejected.
- Required for all NRI Lapsed category applicants
- Must be notarized by a notary public (not just signed)
- Must declare family income and sources of funds
- Must confirm financial capacity to pay full course fees
- Use the template provided in Annexure-II
- Upload as PDF, max 2000 KB
- Missing affidavit = automatic rejection
How to Apply: Step-by-Step Process
The application process is entirely online. You must use a desktop or laptop computer with a stable internet connection. Mobile phones and tablets are not supported and may cause errors.
Follow these steps carefully:
- Visit the online application portal: https://apuhs-ugadmissions.aptonline.in/MBBSMQ/Home/StudentLogin
- Log in or create a new account using your NEET Roll Number and other credentials
- Fill in all required information in the application form (name, address, category, course preference, etc.)
- Upload all scanned documents in the correct format and within file size limits
- Upload your passport-size photo (JPG/JPEG, max 100 KB) and specimen signature (JPG/JPEG, max 100 KB)
- Review all information for accuracy before submitting
- Submit the application and note your application reference number
- Pay the application fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking
- Keep a copy of your application receipt and reference number for future reference
- After 06 Nov 2026 at 8:00 PM, check the eligible candidates list to confirm your application was accepted
Web Options (Choice Filling) and Allotment
After your application is accepted and you appear on the eligible candidates list (06 Nov 2026, 8:00 PM), you will be allowed to fill your web options (preferences) during the specified window. For MBBS NRI Lapsed seats, the web options window is 07 Nov 2026, 9:00 AM to 09 Nov 2026, 11:00 AM. For BDS seats, the schedule will be issued separately.
During web options, you will rank the colleges and courses in order of your preference. The allotment algorithm will match your preferences with available vacancies based on your NEET rank. However, exercising web options does NOT guarantee admission—it only expresses your preference.
For MBBS NRI Lapsed seats, you must pay a Security Deposit of ₹3,00,000 before or during the web options window. This deposit is refundable if you do not get a seat, but it is mandatory to participate in the allotment process.
Allotments will be released on 09 Nov 2026. You will receive a message (SMS/email) if you are allotted a seat. You must then download your allotment order by paying the University Fee of ₹70,100 through the online payment gateway (Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking).

Reporting to College: Mandatory and Final
If you are allotted a seat, you MUST report to the allotted college by 11 November 2026 with all original certificates, your provisional allotment order, and your final application copy. You must also pay the prescribed tuition fee at the college.

Once you report and join the college, you CANNOT resign from the seat. The university does not permit withdrawals after joining. You are committed to the course for the full duration. Important Warnings and Traps to Avoid
The university has issued several critical warnings. Be aware of these to protect yourself:
Beware of touts, brokers, and middlemen who claim to have connections in the university and promise to secure you a seat through unfair means. All counselling is conducted strictly according to rules and based on NEET merit and your web options. No one can guarantee a seat outside this process. Do not trust such persons or give them money.
If you submit false or forged documents, or if any information in your application is found to be incorrect or misleading, the university will cancel your admission without notice and take legal action against you. This applies even after you have joined the college.
An ineligible candidate obtaining a merit position does not become eligible for admission. If you are ineligible but somehow appear on the merit list, you will still not be admitted.
Do not attempt to apply while holding a seat from an earlier round. Your application will be rejected and your fee will not be refunded.
Classes have already started (15 Sept 2026). If you join now, you will be joining mid-semester and must catch up with the curriculum.
- Do not trust touts or brokers claiming to guarantee seats
- False or forged documents = admission cancellation + legal action
- Ineligible candidates will not be admitted even if they appear on merit lists
- Applying while holding a seat = automatic rejection + non-refundable fee
- Classes already in progress; you will join mid-semester
- No seat blocking or cancellation permitted; legal action for violations

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
I was allotted a seat in an earlier counselling round but did not join. Can I apply for the Special Stray Round?
No. If you were allotted any seat in MBBS or BDS in earlier rounds of All India Quota or State Quota (Competent Authority Quota or Management Quota), you are NOT eligible for the Special Stray Round, regardless of whether you joined or not. The university considers you as holding a seat. Your application will be rejected and your fee will not be refunded.
What is the difference between NRI Lapsed and Category-B seats?
NRI Lapsed (Category-C for MBBS, NRI Lapsed for BDS) seats are for candidates whose parents were Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) but have since returned to India and are now residents. Category-B seats in BDS are for local candidates of Andhra Pradesh. In this Special Stray Round, MBBS seats are only available in NRI Lapsed category, while BDS seats are available in both Category-B and NRI Lapsed categories.
I have a Grade Certificate but not the Intermediate Marks Memo. Can I apply?
No. The university will only accept the Intermediate Marks Memo (official marks sheet) or an equivalent document showing marks. A Grade Certificate alone is not accepted. If you submit only a Grade Certificate, your application will be automatically rejected. You must obtain your Intermediate Marks Memo from your board before applying.
What is the Notarized Affidavit for NRI Lapsed category, and where do I get it?
The Notarized Affidavit of Parental Financial Status is a legal document in which your parent declares your family's annual income, sources of income, and confirms they can pay the full tuition fee for the course. The template is provided in Annexure-II of this notification. Your parent must fill it out, sign it, and have it notarized by a notary public. You then scan and upload it as a PDF (max 2000 KB). Without this affidavit, your NRI Lapsed application will be rejected.
I paid the application fee but my application was rejected. Can I get a refund?
No. The application fee is non-refundable and will not be adjusted to any future round or date under any circumstances. This is stated clearly in the notification. Therefore, you must verify your eligibility carefully before paying the fee. Once paid, the fee is lost even if your application is rejected.
What happens if I do not report to the college by 11 November 2026?
If you do not report by 11 Nov 2026, your seat will be cancelled and you will not be eligible for any further rounds. There are no extensions or exceptions. This is a hard deadline. If you are allotted a seat, you must report on time with all original certificates, your allotment order, and final application copy, and pay the tuition fee at the college.
Can I resign from my seat after joining the college?

Additionally, no candidate is permitted to withdraw from the course until the closure of the admissions schedule.
What is the Security Deposit for MBBS NRI Lapsed seats, and is it refundable?
The Security Deposit for MBBS NRI Lapsed seats is ₹3,00,000. This deposit must be paid before or during the web options window (07–09 Nov 2026) to participate in the allotment process. The deposit is refundable if you do not get a seat, but it is mandatory to participate in allotment.
I applied for Competent Authority Quota seats in an earlier round. Can that application be considered for Management Quota in this Special Stray Round?
No. Applications submitted for Competent Authority (Convener) Quota seats will NOT be considered for Management Quota seats. Each quota has separate applications. If you want to apply for Management Quota in this Special Stray Round, you must submit a new application.
What if I submit false or forged documents?
If you submit false, incorrect, or forged documents, or if any information in your application is found to be misleading, the university will cancel your admission without notice and take legal action against you. This applies even after you have joined the college. The university takes document fraud very seriously.
When will the BDS web options schedule be released?
The schedule for web options for BDS seats will be issued separately by the university. Check the NTRUHS website (https://drntr.uhsap.in) frequently for updates. The MBBS web options window is 07–09 Nov 2026, but BDS may have a different schedule.
What if seats remain vacant after the Special Stray Round?
If any MBBS seats remain vacant after the completion of the reporting date (11 Nov 2026), they will be filled under Special Stray Round-2. The university will issue a separate notification for Special Stray Round-2. Check the university website frequently for updates.
