What is this notification about?

This is an application-opening notice for Management Quota (MQ) seats in postgraduate medical courses (MD, MS, PG Diploma) in Andhra Pradesh for the 2026–27 academic year. Management Quota seats are 50% of the total intake in each specialty at each private medical college, and a portion of seats in new government medical colleges. These seats are filled through a separate counselling process run by Dr NTR UHS, distinct from the All-India Quota (AIQ) and state-quota counselling.

The notice invites online applications and document uploads for verification. Candidates must have qualified NEET-PG 2026 and achieved the prescribed cutoff score for their category. The application portal is https://drntr.uhsap.in.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must have qualified NEET-PG 2026 and scored at or above the cutoff percentile for your category. The cutoff is based on your NEET-PG score and your category (General, EWS, PwBD, SC, ST, OBC). Your internship must have been completed by 30 September 2026.

Candidates from Andhra Pradesh and other states/union territories can apply, but eligibility rules differ by seat category (see 'Seat Categories and Eligibility' below). Candidates from outside India must check the prospectus for NRI eligibility rules.

Seat categories and eligibility rules

Management Quota seats are divided into three categories: Category-B (S1), Category-C NRI (S2), and Category-C Institutional (S3). The rules differ for private non-minority colleges, private minority colleges, and new government medical colleges. Understanding which category you are eligible for is crucial.

**Private Non-Minority Colleges:** Category-B (S1) is further split into S1A (15% open to all-India candidates) and S1B (85% for local candidates of Andhra Pradesh only, i.e., Andhra University or Sri Venkateswara University areas). Category-C NRI (S2) is for NRI/NRI blood relatives. Category-C Institutional (S3) is for candidates sponsored by the college management.

**Private Minority Colleges:** Category-B (S1) is 25% filled on general merit. Category-C NRI (S2) is 15% for foreign students/NRI/NRI blood relatives. Category-C Institutional (S3) is 10% for institutional preference/in-service management quota.

**New Government Medical Colleges (from 2023–24 onwards):** After 50% goes to AIQ, the remaining 50% state quota is split: 50% Competent Authority (General), 35% Competent Authority (Self-Finance) for local candidates, and 15% Competent Authority (NRI). The self-finance and NRI seats are filled under Management Quota rules.

  • Category-B (S1): 25% of seats, filled on merit
  • Category-C NRI (S2): 15% of seats, for NRI/NRI blood relatives
  • Category-C Institutional (S3): 10% of seats, for college-sponsored candidates

NRI Lapsed Category and vacant seat conversion

If NRI seats (Category-C S2) remain vacant after Phase-III (Mop-Up) counselling, they are converted to 'NRI Lapsed' seats and filled from other eligible Management Quota candidates. Those admitted to NRI Lapsed seats pay the NRI tuition fee (₹66,12,500 for clinical, etc.), not the Category-B fee.

If NRI Lapsed seats and Institutional seats (S3) both remain vacant, they are converted to Category-B (Management Quota) seats and filled in Stray Round(s) from eligible Category-B candidates. Those admitted pay the Category-B tuition fee.

**For Minority Colleges:** Minority candidates are given preference for NRI Lapsed seats. If no minority candidates are available, non-minority candidates are considered, but non-minority admissions must not exceed 30% of total seats in the college.

  • Vacant NRI seats → NRI Lapsed seats (filled at NRI fee)
  • Vacant NRI Lapsed + Institutional seats → Category-B seats (filled at Category-B fee)
  • Minority colleges: preference to minority candidates for NRI Lapsed seats
  • Non-minority admissions in minority colleges capped at 30% of total seats

Common mistakes that get applications rejected

**Applying after the deadline:** The application window closes at 10:00 PM on 24 October. Applications submitted after this time are not accepted, even if you have a late fee. There is no extension.

**Paying the wrong fee or forgetting to pay:** You must pay the registration fee before submitting your application. If you apply without paying, your application will not be processed. If you apply on 24 October, you must pay the late fee (₹20,000 additional) or your application will be rejected.

**Uploading unclear or incomplete documents:** Scans must be clear and legible. If a document is blurry, cut off, or missing pages, it may be rejected during verification. Upload documents well before the deadline.

**Misunderstanding your eligibility:** If you are applying for S1B (local) seats but are not from Andhra University or Sri Venkateswara University areas, you are ineligible. If you are applying for NRI seats but are not an NRI or NRI blood relative, you will be rejected. Read the eligibility rules carefully.

**Forgetting the internship cutoff date:** Your internship must be completed by 30 September 2026. If it is not, you are ineligible, regardless of your NEET-PG score.

**Not meeting the cutoff score:** If your NEET-PG score is below the cutoff for your category (262 for General, 244 for PwBD, 226 for SC/ST/OBC), you cannot apply. Check your score carefully before applying.

  • ⚠️ Do not apply after 24-10-2026, 10:00 PM — no extension
  • ⚠️ Pay the registration fee before submitting — no fee, no application
  • ⚠️ Pay the late fee (₹20,000) if applying on 24 October
  • ⚠️ Upload clear, legible scans — blurry documents are rejected
  • ⚠️ Check your eligibility for the seat category (S1A, S1B, S2, S3)
  • ⚠️ Internship must be completed by 30-09-2026

What happens after you apply?

After you submit your application, Dr NTR UHS will verify your documents and prepare a merit list. The merit list will be published on the website https://drntr.uhsap.in. You must check the website regularly for announcements — no individual communications will be sent.

If your name appears on the merit list, you will be eligible to participate in the counselling rounds (Phase-I, Phase-II, Phase-III/Mop-Up). During counselling, you will be asked to choose colleges and specialties in order of preference. Seats will be allotted based on your merit rank, preferences, and seat availability.

If you are on the merit list for Category-S1A or S1B seats but wish to apply for Category-S2 (NRI) or S3 (Institutional) seats after Phase-I, you can submit documents with a late fee of ₹10,000 before the notice for Phase-II web options is issued. This allows you to change your seat category mid-process.

  • Merit list published on https://drntr.uhsap.in
  • Check website regularly — no individual communications
  • If on merit list, participate in counselling rounds (Phase-I, II, III)
  • Choose colleges and specialties in order of preference
  • Seats allotted based on merit, preferences, and availability
  • Can change seat category (S1 to S2/S3) after Phase-I with ₹10,000 late fee

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Management Quota and AIQ seats?

Management Quota (MQ) seats are 50% of the total intake in each specialty at private medical colleges, and a portion of seats in new government medical colleges. They are filled through a separate counselling process run by Dr NTR UHS based on NEET-PG merit and seat category eligibility. AIQ (All-India Quota) seats are 15% of seats in government colleges and are filled through MCC's all-India counselling. MQ seats are state-level and have different eligibility rules (e.g., local area restrictions for S1B seats).

I scored 260 in NEET-PG and I am General category. Can I apply?

No. The cutoff for General/EWS category is 262 (50th percentile). Your score of 260 is below the cutoff, so you are not eligible to apply for Management Quota seats in Andhra Pradesh. You can only apply if your score is 262 or above.

I am from Tamil Nadu. Can I apply for S1B (local) seats in Andhra Pradesh?

No. S1B seats are reserved for local candidates of Andhra Pradesh only, i.e., candidates from Andhra University or Sri Venkateswara University areas. If you are from Tamil Nadu, you are not eligible for S1B seats. You can apply for S1A seats (15% of Category-B), which are open to all-India candidates, if you meet the cutoff score.

What is the late fee and when do I pay it?

The late fee is ₹20,000, payable only on 24 October 2026 (9:00 AM to 10:00 PM). If you apply by 23 October, you do not pay a late fee. If you apply on 24 October, you must pay the late fee in addition to the registration fee. After 24 October, the portal closes and no applications are accepted.

Can I get a refund of my registration fee if I do not get a seat?

No. The registration and processing fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. Once you pay and submit your application, the fee is not returned or adjusted to any future round, even if you do not get a seat or withdraw from counselling. The notice strongly advises you to read the prospectus carefully before paying.

My internship will be completed on 15 October 2026. Am I eligible?

No. The internship cutoff date is 30 September 2026. Your internship must be completed by this date to be eligible. If your internship is completed after 30 September, you are not eligible for Management Quota counselling, regardless of your NEET-PG score.

I am an NRI. Which seat category should I apply for?

You should apply for Category-C NRI (S2) seats, which are reserved for NRI/NRI blood relatives. These seats are 15% of the total intake in each specialty. You will be ranked on merit among other NRI applicants. If you are not an NRI or NRI blood relative, you are not eligible for S2 seats and cannot apply for them.

What is the difference between Category-B, Category-C NRI, and Category-C Institutional seats?

Category-B (S1) seats are 25% of the total intake, filled on general merit. Category-C NRI (S2) seats are 15%, reserved for NRI/NRI blood relatives. Category-C Institutional (S3) seats are 10%, reserved for candidates sponsored by the college management. Each category has different eligibility rules and tuition fees. Category-B seats have lower fees; Category-C seats (NRI and Institutional) have much higher fees.

I applied for S1A seats in Phase-I but did not get a seat. Can I apply for S2 (NRI) seats in Phase-II?

Yes, but only if you are on the merit list for S1A or S1B seats. If you are on the merit list and wish to apply for S2 (NRI) or S3 (Institutional) seats after Phase-I, you can submit documents with a late fee of ₹10,000 before the notice for Phase-II web options is issued. This allows you to change your seat category.

What happens if NRI seats remain vacant after Phase-III counselling?

Vacant NRI (S2) seats are converted to 'NRI Lapsed' seats and filled from other eligible Management Quota candidates in order of merit. Those admitted to NRI Lapsed seats pay the NRI tuition fee (₹66,12,500 for clinical, etc.), not the Category-B fee. If NRI Lapsed and Institutional seats both remain vacant, they are converted to Category-B seats and filled in Stray Round(s) at Category-B fees.

I completed my MBBS from Govt. Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada. How is my local area decided?

Your local area is decided by considering the maximum study period of 4 years out of 7 years of study from 6th class to Intermediate/10+2 in Andhra Pradesh. For example, if you studied in AP for 4 years during this period, you are considered local. The specific local area (Andhra University or Sri Venkateswara University) is determined based on where you studied the most.

What is the total cost of admission if I get a clinical degree seat in a private medical college?

The total cost includes: Registration fee (₹7,000–₹14,000 depending on location), University Fee (₹54,600), and Tuition Fee (₹11,42,640 for Category-B or ₹66,12,500 for Category-C NRI/Institutional). For a Category-B clinical seat, the total is approximately ₹12,13,240 (registration + university + tuition). For Category-C, it is approximately ₹67,21,100. These are one-time or annual fees; tuition may be paid in installments as per college policy.

Apply now at https://drntr.uhsap.in between 19–23 October (no late fee) or 24 October (₹20,000 late fee). Ensure you meet the cutoff score for your category, have completed your internship by 30 September 2026, and upload clear scans of all required documents. Read the prospectus and user manual carefully before applying — the registration fee is non-refundable. Monitor the website for the merit list and further counselling notices; no individual communications will be sent.
