The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has issued a notice for candidates going through the WB UG Medical and Dental 2026 admission process (NEET UG 2026). This is not a new round announcement — it is a set of important instructions for candidates who are already being allotted seats, telling them exactly what to bring, what to sign, and what mistakes will get their admission cancelled. It also lists which physical location — 'admission kiosk' — several private colleges are using instead of their own campus for document verification. If you or your child has an allotment in WB counselling, this notice affects what happens at the college on admission day.
Every allotted candidate must physically report to the allotted college (or its designated admission kiosk) with the original documents, the verified slip, the allotment letter, 4 passport photos and the required bond — and must ensure the admission is finally confirmed on the NIC server, or the seat will be treated as vacant.
How the allotment letter and admission process work
Once WBMCC publishes the result of a counselling round, successful candidates can download their individual allotment letter by logging into the counselling website. This download stays available until the schedule for that round closes.
Allotted candidates must report to the allotted college within the date and time given in the counselling schedule (note: WBMCC's server time, not your local clock). This applies even if you are allotted to a private college — see the admission kiosk locations below, because several private colleges do not verify documents on their own campus.
The notice reiterates that there will be another round of physical document verification at the college itself, even though documents may have been checked earlier online or at a facilitation centre. Do not skip carrying originals thinking they were already checked.
Documents and items you must carry to the allotted college
The candidate must carry all original documents listed in the earlier WBMCC notice (Memo No. HFW-23099/320/2026/M/2054 dated 11.08.2026), along with one full set of self-attested photocopies. In addition, this notice requires the following:
- The successfully verified slip — one original and one self-attested photocopy
- The allotment letter — one original and one self-attested photocopy
- 4 recent passport-size photographs
- A signed undertaking that you are not presently admitted anywhere else through AIQ (All India Quota) or SQ (State Quota) counselling in 2026 or any earlier year — this must also be signed again on the allotment letter itself
- The requisite admission fee, payable to the college by the applicable payment method
- The relevant bond as described below
Which original documents the college will keep
Out of all the original documents you bring, the college is only allowed to retain a few of them — the rest stay with you. The college must give you a receipt for whatever it keeps.
The college will mandatorily deposit and keep: your original Class 12 certificate, your original Class 12 mark sheet, and (only for State Quota candidates) your original domicile certificate. Your caste certificate and ID cards do NOT need to be kept by the college — you should get these back after verification.
Bonds you may have to sign
Depending on which type of college you are admitted to, you will need to submit a specific bond at the time of admission:
- Government colleges in West Bengal: a Rs 1 lakh discontinuation bond, notarized on non-judicial stamp paper with demy paper of not less than Rs 100 value — this is meant to discourage seat-blocking or dropping out later without cause.
- Private colleges, trust colleges and central institutes: a bond or bank guarantee as required by that specific college. If you have a choice between the two, preference is given to whichever the candidate prefers to provide.
Category certificate trap: what happens if you can't produce it
This is one of the most important — and most misunderstood — parts of the notice. It applies to SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates.
If you applied under SC/ST/OBC/EWS but your NEET UG 2026 rank is good enough to clear the unreserved (general) cutoff on its own, and you fail to produce your caste/category certificate at verification, you will still be admitted — but your candidature will be edited to 'Unreserved'. You can then try to upgrade in a later round only as an unreserved candidate, not under your original category.
But if you were allotted a seat specifically reserved for your category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) and you cannot produce a valid category certificate, the college will edit your candidature to unreserved and CANCEL your seat for that round. You will only be allowed into the next round if you separately meet the unreserved cutoff. If you don't meet the unreserved cutoff, you are out of the counselling process entirely.
Lesson: never assume a category certificate can be sorted out later. Carry the correct, valid certificate — showing the right sub-category where applicable — to every round of verification.
PwD (disability) certificate: the same trap applies
The rule for PwD (Person with Disability) candidates works exactly the same way as the category certificate rule above.
If you are eligible and allotted a NON-PwD seat but cannot provide a valid PwD certificate from a centre designated by MCC New Delhi (the national counselling authority), you will still be admitted, but your status will be edited to non-PwD, and you may only try to upgrade later as a non-PwD candidate.
If you were allotted a seat specifically reserved for PwD candidates and cannot produce a valid PwD certificate, your candidature will be edited to non-PwD and your seat for that round will be CANCELLED. You can enter the next round only if you meet the non-PwD cutoff; otherwise you are out of counselling.
You must finish admission on the NIC server — or the seat is lost
All admissions must be finalised on the NIC (National Informatics Centre) server that the counselling committee provides to colleges, and this must happen within the round's schedule. This is not optional paperwork — it is what makes your admission official in the system.
You must personally make sure you get a server-generated admission letter (or cancellation letter, if that's the outcome). If this step is skipped, your admission will not be considered valid, and the seat will be released as vacant for the next round — even if you have physically submitted documents and paid fees at the college.
Not happy with your seat? Seat surrender process
If, after being admitted, you decide you don't want to keep the seat, you can appear in person before the college authority for seat surrender (resignation). This can only be done as per the seat surrender schedule that WBMCC will publish separately on the counselling website.
The surrender slip must also be generated through the NIC server by the college. If this is not done properly, the seat will not appear as vacant for the next round — meaning another candidate cannot get it, and your surrender may not be recognised.
NRI category candidates — a strict rule
Candidates who chose NRI (Non-Resident Indian) category during their online WBMCC registration are directly allowed to fill choices as NRI category candidates during counselling.
However, at the physical document verification stage at the allotted college, if the documents you submit to prove your NRI status are found inadequate, your candidature and allotted seat under the NRI category will be cancelled immediately — and you will be removed from the entire counselling process, not just that round. NRI candidates should double-check their supporting documents well before the verification date.
Admission kiosks for private colleges — check the venue before you travel
Several private medical and dental colleges are not conducting admission/verification at their own campus. Instead, WBMCC has set up shared 'admission desks/kiosks' at government college premises for these institutions, for ALL rounds. If you are allotted one of these colleges, go to the listed venue, not the college campus.

Where do I get my allotment letter?
You download it yourself from the WBMCC counselling website by logging into your individual candidate account, after the round's result is published. It remains downloadable until that round's schedule closes.
What exactly must I carry on admission day?

The same logic as category certificates applies — if allotted a non-PwD seat, you're admitted but reclassified as non-PwD. If allotted a PwD-reserved seat without a valid certificate, that seat is cancelled for the round unless you meet the non-PwD cutoff.
I was allotted a private college — do I go to the college campus?
Not always. Several private colleges are using shared admission kiosks at nearby government colleges for all rounds (see the table above). Check the correct venue before travelling.
What if I don't like the seat I got — can I back out?
Yes, through the official seat surrender/resignation process at the college, but only as per the surrender schedule WBMCC will separately publish on the counselling website. The surrender must be recorded on the NIC server, or the seat won't be freed up for other candidates.
What happens if my admission isn't confirmed on the NIC server?
Your admission will not be considered valid at all, regardless of documents submitted or fees paid at the college, and the seat will be released as vacant in the next round. Always ensure you receive the server-generated admission letter.
If you have an allotment in WB UG Medical or Dental 2026 counselling, prepare your document folder now — including the exact items and bonds listed above — and confirm the correct reporting venue, especially if allotted to one of the private colleges using a shared admission kiosk.
