Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU) has released the revised schedule for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling for MD, MS, Post-MBBS Diploma, and Post-DNB candidates in Uttarakhand. Registration opened on 22 October 2026 and will close on 27 October at 5:00 PM. This is the first and critical round of state-level counselling where eligible NEET PG 2026 qualified candidates must register, pay the fee, fill choices, and secure their allotted seat. The entire process—from registration through joining—spans just 20 days, so timing and accuracy are essential.

Register by 27 October 5:00 PM (₹8000 fee), fill choices by 30 October 11:59 PM, and join your allotted college by 10 November—missing any deadline will cost you your seat.

What is this counselling round and who must participate?

This is Round 1 of Uttarakhand's state-level centralized counselling for NEET PG 2026. It is open to all candidates who have qualified NEET PG 2026 AND meet the eligibility criteria set by the Government of Uttarakhand. The counselling covers MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), Post-MBBS Diploma, and Post-DNB (Diplomate of National Board) broad-speciality postgraduate seats in Uttarakhand medical colleges.

Only registered candidates are allowed to participate in Round 1. If you do not register during the specified window, you cannot proceed to choice filling or allotment. Registration is mandatory and is your first step into the counselling process.

Eligibility: who can register?

You are eligible to register if you meet BOTH of these conditions:

1. You have qualified NEET PG 2026 (i.e., you have a valid NEET PG 2026 score and admit card). 2. You meet the eligibility criteria set by the Government of Uttarakhand. This typically includes domicile or other state-specific norms. The notice does not detail these state norms—you must check the Uttarakhand government's official guidelines or contact the counselling board directly.

If you are unsure whether you meet Uttarakhand's eligibility criteria, contact the helpline (8006516772) or email ukneetcounselling@gmail.com before registering, as ineligible registrations may be rejected later.

  • NEET PG 2026 qualified (valid score and admit card)
  • Meet Government of Uttarakhand eligibility norms (check state guidelines)

Merit list: what it is and how to check it

On 28 October (after 3:00 PM), the university will display the Provisional State Merit List on the website www.hnbumu.ac.in. This list ranks all registered candidates based on their NEET PG 2026 score and other criteria (such as category, state quota, etc.). Your rank on this list determines the order in which you will be offered seats during allotment.

Check the merit list to confirm your name, rank, and category. If you spot an error (e.g., wrong name, wrong score, wrong category), report it immediately to the counselling board via email (ukneetcounselling@gmail.com) or phone (8006516772). Errors must be corrected before choice filling begins on 29 October.

  • Display date: 28 October (after 3:00 PM)
  • Check your rank, name, and category
  • Report errors immediately—do not wait until after choice filling

Choice filling: how to rank colleges and specialities

After the merit list is published, you will have a 48-hour window (29 October 9:00 AM to 30 October 11:59:59 PM) to fill and lock your choices. During this time, you must log into the counselling portal and rank the colleges and specialities you wish to be considered for, in order of your preference.

You can fill as many choices as you wish—there is no limit. Rank them from most preferred to least preferred. The allotment algorithm will offer you the highest-ranked choice for which you are eligible based on your merit rank and the seat availability. Once you lock your choices at 11:59:59 PM on 30 October, you cannot change them. So think carefully before locking.

The notice does not specify which colleges or specialities are available in Round 1. This information will be provided on the website during the choice-filling window. Visit www.hnbumu.ac.in on 29 October to see the full list of available seats and colleges before you start filling choices.

  • Window: 29 Oct 9:00 AM to 30 Oct 11:59:59 PM
  • Fill choices in order of preference (most preferred first)
  • No limit on number of choices
  • Lock your choices before 11:59:59 PM on 30 Oct—no changes allowed after locking
  • Check available colleges and specialities on the website during this window

Data processing and result declaration

After you lock your choices on 30 October, the counselling board will process all registrations and choices on 31 October and 1 November. During this time, the allotment algorithm will run and assign seats to candidates based on their merit rank, category, quota, and choice order.

The result (allotment list) will be declared on 2 November after 8:00 PM. You will be able to check your allotment on the website www.hnbumu.ac.in. The allotment list will show which college and speciality you have been assigned. If you are allotted a seat, you must join that college by 10 November. If you are not allotted in Round 1, you may be eligible to register for Round 2 (details to be announced separately).

  • Data processing: 31 Oct & 1 Nov
  • Result declared: 2 Nov (after 8:00 PM)
  • Check allotment on www.hnbumu.ac.in
  • Joining deadline: 10 Nov 2026

Joining: what you must do after allotment

If you are allotted a seat in Round 1, you MUST join the allotted college by 10 November 2026. Joining means physically reporting to the college, submitting your original documents, and completing the admission formalities. If you do not join by this date, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.

The notice does not specify the exact joining procedure or documents required at the college. This information will be provided in the allotment letter or on the website. Contact the allotted college directly or visit www.hnbumu.ac.in for joining instructions.

Quota and seat availability: state quota, all-India open quota, and Round 2

The notice mentions that State Quota and All India Open Quota seats are available in Round 1. However, it does not provide a breakdown of how many seats are in each quota or which colleges have which quotas. This information will be available on the website during the choice-filling window.

The notice also states that 'New/Fresh registration may be permitted for Round-II' and that details will be notified separately. This means if you are not allotted in Round 1, you may have a chance to register afresh for Round 2 without paying the fee again (since your Round 1 fee covers Rounds I, II, and III). However, the exact eligibility and procedure for Round 2 will be announced later. Keep checking the website for Round 2 updates.

  • State Quota and All India Open Quota seats available in Round 1
  • Seat matrix and quota details will be on the website during choice filling
  • Round 2 may allow fresh registration—details to be announced separately
  • Your ₹8,000 fee covers all three rounds

Common mistakes that get applications rejected

**Missing the registration deadline (27 October 5:00 PM).** If you do not register and pay the fee by this time, you cannot participate in Round 1. There is no grace period. Mark this date on your calendar and register at least 1–2 days early to avoid last-minute technical issues.

**Paying the wrong fee or using an invalid payment method.** The fee is exactly ₹8,000 and must be paid online (Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking). Cheques, cash, or bank transfers are not accepted. Ensure your payment goes through successfully and you receive a confirmation receipt.

**Not locking your choices by 30 October 11:59:59 PM.** If you fill choices but forget to lock them, they will not be saved. The system will not automatically lock them. You must manually click the 'Lock' button before the deadline.

**Filling choices without checking eligibility.** Some colleges or specialities may have eligibility criteria (e.g., minimum marks, category-specific seats). Filling a choice for a seat you are not eligible for will waste that choice. Check the eligibility criteria on the website before filling.

**Not joining by 10 November.** If you are allotted a seat and do not join by 10 November, your seat will be cancelled. There is no extension. Plan your travel and document submission in advance.

This means if the board issues an update (e.g., a date change, a new eligibility rule), that update becomes the rule—not the original notice.

**No separate notifications will be sent to candidates.** The board will not email or SMS you about updates. It is YOUR responsibility to check the website www.hnbumu.ac.in regularly—at least once every 2–3 days—for any changes or new instructions. Missing an update could cost you your seat.

**The board reserves the right to modify the schedule if needed.** While the dates above are the current plan, the board may postpone or reschedule any stage if there are technical issues, government directives, or other unforeseen circumstances. The registration fee is ₹8,000 for all categories. Payment is online only—by Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. You must pay during registration (22–27 October). This fee is valid for all three rounds of counselling (Rounds I, II, and III), so you do not need to pay again for later rounds.

Joining is mandatory and means physically reporting to the college, submitting original documents, and completing admission formalities. Plan your travel and document submission in advance.

Will I have to pay the registration fee again for Round 2 or Round 3?

The notice says the schedule may be modified. How will I know if dates change?
