What is this counselling round?

This is Round 1 of Uttarakhand's state-level centralized counselling for NEET PG 2026. It covers MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), Post-MBBS Diploma, and DNB (Diplomate of National Board) broad-speciality seats offered by medical colleges in Uttarakhand. The counselling is conducted by HNBUMU on behalf of the Uttarakhand government and follows the guidelines of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and National Medical Commission (NMC).

This is a state quota counselling — it allocates seats reserved for Uttarakhand domicile candidates and also includes All India Open Quota seats. Only candidates who have qualified NEET PG 2026 and meet Uttarakhand state eligibility norms can register. The registration fee of ₹8000 is valid for all three rounds (Round I, II, and III) of counselling, so you pay only once.

Who is eligible to register?

You are eligible to register for Round 1 if you meet BOTH of these conditions:

1. You have qualified NEET PG 2026 (your score is above the cutoff set by MCC). 2. You meet the eligibility norms set by the Government of Uttarakhand. These norms typically include domicile requirements, educational qualifications, and other state-specific criteria. The notice does not detail these norms — you must check the Uttarakhand government's official guidelines or contact the helpline (see contact details below).

Only registered candidates will be allowed to participate in Round 1. If you do not register by the deadline (27 October 5:00 PM), you cannot participate in this round, even if you are eligible. You may be able to register afresh in Round 2, but details will be notified separately.

  • NEET PG 2026 qualified (score above MCC cutoff)
  • Meet Uttarakhand state government eligibility norms (domicile, education, etc.)
  • Registration must be completed before 27 October 5:00 PM

Registration: dates, fee, and how to pay

Registration for Round 1 is open from 22 October 2026 at 1:00 PM to 27 October 2026 at 5:00 PM (server time). You must complete your registration and pay the fee within this window. After 5:00 PM on 27 October, the registration portal will close and no further registrations will be accepted for Round 1.

The registration fee is ₹8000 for all candidates, regardless of category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.). You must pay this fee online using a Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. The fee is non-refundable. Importantly, this single payment is valid for all three rounds of counselling (Round I, II, and III) — you do not need to pay again for subsequent rounds.

To register, visit the official website www.hnbumu.ac.in and follow the online registration portal. You will need to provide your NEET PG 2026 roll number, qualification details, and other personal information. After completing the registration form, you will be directed to the payment gateway to pay the ₹8000 fee. Keep your registration confirmation and payment receipt safe — you will need them for choice filling and joining.

  • Registration window: 22 October 1:00 PM to 27 October 5:00 PM (server time)
  • Fee: ₹8000 (all categories)
  • Payment method: Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking
  • Fee validity: covers all three rounds (I, II, III)
  • Portal: www.hnbumu.ac.in

Important dates for Round 1 — timeline at a glance

The entire Round 1 process follows a strict timeline. Missing any deadline will result in your exclusion from that step. Below is the complete schedule:

After the merit list is displayed on 28 October, you will have until 30 October 11:59:59 PM to fill and lock your choices. This is your opportunity to rank the colleges and specialities you wish to be considered for. Once you lock your choices, you cannot change them, so choose carefully. Data processing happens on 31 October and 1 November, and the result (your allotment) will be declared on 2 November after 8:00 PM. You must then join your allotted college by 10 November 2026 — this is the final deadline. If you do not join by this date, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate.

Merit list and choice filling — what you need to know

On 28 October after 3:00 PM, HNBUMU will display the Provisional State Merit List on its website. This list ranks all registered candidates by their NEET PG 2026 score. Your rank on this list determines your priority for seat allotment — a higher rank (lower number) gives you a better chance of getting your preferred college and speciality.

See My Colleges

Once the merit list is published, you have until 30 October 11:59:59 PM to fill and lock your choices. 'Filling choices' means you rank the colleges and specialities you wish to be considered for, in order of preference. For example, you might choose: (1) MD Medicine at College A, (2) MS Surgery at College B, (3) MD Paediatrics at College C, and so on. You can fill as many choices as you wish — the more choices you fill, the higher your chances of getting a seat.

'Locking' your choices means finalizing them — once locked, you cannot edit or change them. The system will not allow you to unlock and re-fill after the deadline. Therefore, fill your choices carefully and lock them only when you are certain. If you do not fill and lock any choices by 30 October 11:59:59 PM, you will not be considered for allotment in Round 1.

  • Merit list published: 28 Oct after 3:00 PM on www.hnbumu.ac.in
  • Your rank on the merit list determines your priority for seats
  • Choice filling window: 29 Oct 9:00 AM to 30 Oct 11:59:59 PM
  • Rank your preferred colleges and specialities in order
  • Fill as many choices as possible to increase your chances
  • Lock your choices before 30 Oct 11:59:59 PM — no changes allowed after locking

How allotment works and when you will know your result

After you lock your choices, the counselling board processes all registered candidates' choices and merit ranks to allocate seats. This data processing happens on 31 October and 1 November. The allotment algorithm assigns each candidate to the highest-ranked college and speciality on their choice list for which they are eligible, based on their merit rank and the availability of seats.

The result of allotment will be declared on 2 November 2026 after 8:00 PM. You will be able to view your allotment on the website www.hnbumu.ac.in using your registration credentials. The allotment result will show which college and speciality you have been assigned. If you are allotted a seat, you must join that college by 10 November 2026. If you are not allotted a seat in Round 1, you may be eligible to register afresh for Round 2 (details to be notified separately).

Joining means physically reporting to the allotted college, submitting your original documents, and completing the admission formalities. The college will specify the exact joining procedure and documents required. If you do not join by 10 November, your seat will be forfeited and you will not be able to participate further in Round 1. You may then be eligible for Round 2 or Round 3, depending on the board's decision.

  • Data processing: 31 Oct & 1 Nov
  • Result declared: 2 Nov after 8:00 PM
  • Check your allotment on www.hnbumu.ac.in
  • If allotted: join the college by 10 Nov 2026
  • If not allotted: wait for Round 2 details (to be notified separately)

Seats available: state quota, all India open quota, and future rounds

Uttarakhand's NEET PG counselling allocates two types of seats: State Quota (reserved for Uttarakhand domicile candidates) and All India Open Quota (open to candidates from any state). The exact number of seats in each category and speciality will be detailed in the seat matrix, which should be available on the website or will be notified separately.

The notice mentions that 'Availability of State Quota and All India Open Quota seats and New/Fresh registration may be permitted for Round-II.' This means that if seats remain vacant after Round 1, they may be offered in Round 2. Additionally, if you did not register for Round 1 or were not allotted a seat, you may be allowed to register afresh for Round 2. However, the exact details, eligibility, and schedule for Round 2 will be notified separately — keep checking the website for updates.

The board reserves the right to modify the counselling schedule if needed, so stay alert for any announcements on the website.

  • State Quota seats: for Uttarakhand domicile candidates
  • All India Open Quota seats: for candidates from any state
  • Seat matrix details: check www.hnbumu.ac.in
  • Round 2 details: to be notified separately
  • Fresh registration for Round 2: may be permitted (details awaited)

Documents you will need — checklist

The notice does not provide a detailed list of documents required for registration or joining. However, based on standard NEET PG counselling procedures, you will typically need: (1) NEET PG 2026 admit card and score card, (2) MBBS degree certificate or provisional certificate, (3) Medical Council registration certificate (MCI/NMC), (4) Category certificate (if applicable — SC, ST, OBC, etc.), (5) Domicile certificate (for Uttarakhand state quota), (6) Identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, etc.), and (7) Address proof.

The exact list of documents required for registration and joining will be provided in the detailed counselling procedure and instructions, which the notice states will be updated on the website from time to time. You must visit www.hnbumu.ac.in regularly to download the complete document checklist and instructions. Do not assume — missing even one required document can result in rejection of your registration or cancellation of your allotment.

For joining, the allotted college will provide a separate list of documents to be submitted at the time of admission. Ensure you have all original documents and certified copies ready before the joining deadline (10 November).

  • NEET PG 2026 admit card and score card
  • MBBS degree certificate or provisional certificate
  • Medical Council registration certificate (MCI/NMC)
  • Category certificate (if SC, ST, OBC, etc.)
  • Domicile certificate (for state quota)
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, etc.)
  • Address proof
  • Check www.hnbumu.ac.in for the complete official checklist

Common mistakes that get applications rejected — avoid these traps

**Missing the registration deadline (27 October 5:00 PM).** This is the most common mistake. The portal closes at exactly 5:00 PM server time — do not wait until the last minute. If you miss this deadline, you cannot register for Round 1. Plan to register at least 1–2 days before the deadline.

**Not paying the ₹8000 fee.** Registration is incomplete without payment. Simply filling the form is not enough — you must pay the fee online before the deadline. If payment fails, try again immediately or contact the bank technical help number (9520652292).

**Not filling and locking choices by 30 October 11:59:59 PM.** If you do not fill any choices, you will not be considered for allotment. If you fill choices but forget to lock them, they will not be saved. Always lock your choices before the deadline.

**Not joining by 10 November 2026.** If you are allotted a seat but do not join the college by this date, your seat will be cancelled. Mark this date on your calendar and plan your travel and document submission in advance.

What happens after Round 1 — Round 2 and beyond

If you are allotted a seat in Round 1 and join by 10 November, your admission is confirmed and you will not participate in further rounds. However, if you are not allotted a seat in Round 1, or if you do not join your allotted seat, you may be eligible for Round 2.

The notice states: 'Availability of State Quota and All India Open Quota seats and New/Fresh registration may be permitted for Round-II. Details of which, will be notified separately.' This means that Round 2 will likely offer remaining vacant seats, and candidates who did not register in Round 1 may be allowed to register afresh. However, the exact eligibility, schedule, and procedure for Round 2 have not yet been announced.

You must keep checking www.hnbumu.ac.in for Round 2 details. The board will notify the Round 2 schedule, registration dates, and any changes to the procedure. Do not assume Round 2 will follow the same dates or process as Round 1.

  • Round 1 allotted and joined: admission confirmed, no further rounds

  • Did not register in Round 1: may register afresh for Round 2 (details to be notified)

The registration fee is ₹8000 for all candidates, regardless of category. You must pay this fee online using a Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Importantly, this single payment is valid for all three rounds of counselling (Round I, II, and III) — you do not need to pay again for subsequent rounds.

Who is eligible to register for Round 1?

You are eligible if you have (1) qualified NEET PG 2026 (your score is above the MCC cutoff) and (2) meet the eligibility norms set by the Government of Uttarakhand, which typically include domicile requirements and educational qualifications. 'Filling choices' means ranking the colleges and specialities you wish to be considered for, in order of preference. 'Locking' means finalizing them — once locked, you cannot change them. Yes, the notice states that 'New/Fresh registration may be permitted for Round-II.' If you are not allotted a seat in Round 1, you may be eligible to register afresh for Round 2.
