When Did Registration and Choice Filling Open?

Registration for Round 3 opened on October 26, 2026, at 5 PM and closed on October 28, 2026, at 2 PM. Only candidates who paid the required counselling fee during this window appear in the merit list. If you missed the registration deadline, you will not be eligible for Round 3 and will have to wait for mop-up or stray vacancy rounds.

Choice filling began immediately after registration closed, on October 28, 2026, at 5 PM. Round 3 offers state quota MBBS and BDS seats in government and private medical and dental colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The exact number and distribution of seats varies by college and course. Before filling your choices, check the seat matrix (the official list of available seats by college, course, and category) to understand which colleges have vacancies in your category.

Your eligibility depends on your NEET UG rank, your category (General, OBC, SC, ST), and whether you qualify for any reserved seats. Not all colleges will be open to all ranks. Use your merit list rank to shortlist colleges where you have a realistic chance of admission.

How to Fill and Lock Your College Choices

Log in to the upneet.gov.in portal using your credentials. You will see a list of available colleges and courses. Rank them in order of your preference—place your most-preferred college first, second-most-preferred second, and so on. You can add as many choices as you wish, but the order matters: the system will allot you the highest-ranked college from your list where you are eligible.

After arranging your choices, you must lock them before the deadline. Locked choices cannot be changed. If you do not lock your choices manually, the system will automatically lock all your choices at 5 PM on October 31, 2026. Once locked, your choices are final and will be used for seat allotment.

  • Log in to upneet.gov.in with your roll number and password
  • View the list of available colleges and courses
  • Rank colleges in order of preference (most preferred first)
  • Lock your choices before October 31, 2026, 5 PM
  • Unlocked choices will auto-lock at the deadline

What Happens After Choice Filling Closes?

After the choice-filling window closes on October 31, 2026, at 5 PM, the DGME will process all submitted preferences and generate the seat allotment result. This result will be released on November 2, 2026. Seat allotment is based on your merit rank and your preference order—the system will try to allot you the highest-ranked college from your list where a seat is available.

Once the result is out, you will be able to download your allotment letter from the portal. If you are allotted a seat, you must report to the allotted college between November 3 and 7, 2026, to complete admission formalities. Failure to report within this window may result in forfeiture of your seat.

Why Round 3 Is Your Last Chance Before Mop-Up

Round 3 is the final main counselling round in Uttar Pradesh before mop-up and stray vacancy stages begin. If you did not secure a seat in Rounds 1 and 2, this is your last opportunity to participate in the regular counselling process. After Round 3, any remaining vacant seats will be filled through mop-up rounds, which typically have fewer seats and stricter timelines.

Mop-up and stray vacancy rounds are unpredictable—the number of seats available, the colleges participating, and the eligibility criteria can vary. Participating actively in Round 3 gives you a better chance of securing a seat in a college of your choice rather than waiting for mop-up, where options are limited.

Key Dates to Remember for Round 3

Mark these dates on your calendar to avoid missing any deadlines. The choice-filling window is very short—only three days—so plan ahead. If you are unsure about your eligibility or which colleges to choose, reach out to your school counsellor or the DGME helpline before October 31.

After allotment, the reporting window is also tight (November 3–7). Ensure you have all required documents ready and plan your travel to the allotted college in advance. Missing the reporting deadline will result in cancellation of your seat.

  • October 28, 2026, 5 PM: Choice filling opens
  • October 31, 2026, 5 PM: Choice filling closes (FINAL DEADLINE)
  • November 2, 2026: Seat allotment result released
  • November 3–7, 2026: Reporting window at allotted college

What to Do If You Don't Get a Seat in Round 3

If you are not allotted a seat in Round 3, do not lose hope. The DGME will announce mop-up rounds to fill any remaining vacancies. Watch the upneet.gov.in portal and official DGME announcements for mop-up round notices. Mop-up rounds typically have shorter timelines and fewer seats, but they are still an opportunity to secure admission.

In some cases, colleges may also announce stray vacancy rounds for seats that remain unfilled even after mop-up. These rounds are usually announced by individual colleges and may have different eligibility criteria. Stay alert and check the portal regularly.
