Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana, has opened the Mop Up phase of web-based counselling for MBBS admissions under Competent Authority Quota (CQ) for the 2026–27 academic year. This is the final counselling round for vacant MBBS seats across government, private un-aided non-minority, and minority medical colleges in Telangana. Eligible candidates who were on the final merit list and participated in the first phase of counselling can now exercise web options to change or secure their college choice. The window is extremely tight: options must be submitted online between 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026 and 5:00 PM on 14 October 2026. This is a critical opportunity for candidates to move to a preferred college, but joining after allotment is mandatory—candidates who do not join or who withdraw after this phase face a ₹20 lakh penalty and a 3-year debarment from KNRUHS MBBS admissions.
Telangana MBBS Mop Up counselling web-option window is 12–14 October 2026 (5 PM to 5 PM); joining after allotment is mandatory, and withdrawal incurs a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment.

Unlock My College ListWhat is the Mop Up Phase and Who Can Apply?
The Mop Up phase is the final round of counselling for MBBS admissions under Telangana's Competent Authority Quota. It is designed to fill any vacant seats that remain after earlier counselling rounds. This phase allows candidates who were eligible in the first phase to exercise fresh web options—meaning they can change their college choice or secure a seat they may have missed earlier.
Competent Authority Quota (CQ) seats are those filled directly by the state government through its own counselling process, as opposed to seats filled through the national-level MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) process. In Telangana, CQ seats are available in government, private un-aided non-minority, and minority medical colleges affiliated to KNRUHS.
The Mop Up phase includes seats across all categories: General, EWS (Economically Weaker Section), PWD (Persons with Disability), and CAP (Competent Authority Placement). Two colleges have also increased their MBBS intake: TRR Institute of Medical Sciences and Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences have each expanded from 150 to 200 seats, with 50% of the new seats available under CQ and 50% under Management Quota (MQ).
Who Is Eligible to Exercise Web Options in Mop Up?
To be eligible for the Mop Up phase, you must meet ALL of the following conditions:
First, your name must appear on the final merit list for Competent Authority Quota published on the KNRUHS website on 28 August 2026 or in any subsequent addendums or corrigendums. This means you must have qualified NEET UG 2026 and been deemed eligible by the university's verification process.
Second, you must have exercised web options in the first phase of counselling. If you did not participate in the first phase, you are not eligible for the Mop Up phase, even if your name is on the merit list. This is a strict eligibility rule.
Third, your certificates must have been uploaded at the time of online registration and provisionally verified by the concerned departments. If your documents were not uploaded or were not verified, you cannot participate.
Important: If you were allotted a seat in an earlier phase and have NOT joined the course (i.e., you did not report to the college), you are NOT eligible for Mop Up. Similarly, if you were allotted a seat, joined, and then discontinued the course, you are also not eligible. However, if you were allotted a seat in an earlier phase, joined the course, and are still continuing, you ARE eligible to exercise fresh options in Mop Up—this allows you to slide to a better college while remaining enrolled.
Candidates admitted under MCC (national-level) counselling up to the third phase are not eligible for Mop Up counselling under KNRUHS CQ.
- Name on final KNRUHS CQ merit list (28 August 2026 or later addendums)
- Must have exercised web options in first phase of counselling
- Certificates uploaded and provisionally verified at registration
- NOT eligible if: allotted in earlier phase but did not join, or joined and discontinued
- ELIGIBLE if: allotted in earlier phase, joined, and still continuing the course
- NOT eligible if admitted under MCC counselling (phases 1–3)
Important Dates and Timeline
The web-option exercise window is extremely short and must be completed within the specified time frame. There is no extension or grace period.
Web options can be exercised from 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026 to 5:00 PM on 14 October 2026. You must log in to the portal https://tsmedadm.tsche.in/ and submit your choices within this window. After 5:00 PM on 14 October, the portal will close and no further options can be submitted.
After the web-option window closes, the university will process the options and generate allotments. You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number informing you of your allotment and whether you have slid to a different college. You should also log in to the portal to check your allotment status.
Once allotted, you must download your allotment order from the portal after paying the university fee (₹12,000). You then have a deadline to report to the Principal of your allotted college and submit original certificates, relevant bonds, and pay tuition fees. The exact reporting deadline will be specified on your allotment order.
Critically, the last date for free exit (withdrawal without penalty) was 8 October 2026. If you are allotted a seat in the Mop Up phase (after 8 October), there is NO free exit option. If you join and then withdraw, you will face the full ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment.
- Web-option window: 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026 to 5:00 PM on 14 October 2026
- Portal: https://tsmedadm.tsche.in/
- Allotment result: SMS notification + check portal after processing
- Reporting deadline: As specified on your allotment order
- Last date for free exit: 8 October 2026 (already passed)
- No free exit after 8 October 2026
How to Exercise Web Options: Step-by-Step Process
Exercising web options is an online process that you must complete yourself from a computer with an internet connection. The university strongly recommends you read the full prospectus and government orders on admission rules before you begin, so you understand the regulations and category-specific rules.
Step 1: Log in to the portal https://tsmedadm.tsche.in/ using your credentials (registration number and password). Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
Step 2: Review the seat matrix and list of available colleges. The university has published details of vacant seats and enhanced seats on the KNRUHS website (http://knruhs.telangana.gov.in). You can see which colleges have vacancies and in which categories.
Step 3: Select the colleges and seats you wish to apply for, in order of your preference. There is NO limit on the number of colleges you can choose. You can exercise options for any number of colleges you are interested in joining, as per your eligibility. The system will rank your choices by priority.
Step 4: A one-time password (OTP) consisting of a six-letter code (A–Z capital letters) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this password to confirm your options.
Step 5: Save your options and take a printout. This is important for your records.
Step 6: Submit your options before 5:00 PM on 14 October 2026. After submission, you cannot change your options.
Important: The university advises you to exercise options for ALL colleges in which you are interested, even if the seat matrix shows no vacant seats currently. This is because vacancies will arise during the counselling process as candidates slide from their earlier allotted seats to new seats based on their Mop Up options. If you do not exercise an option for a college, you cannot be allotted there even if a seat becomes available.

Fees: University Fee and Tuition Fee
If you are allotted a seat in the Mop Up phase, you must pay two types of fees: the university fee and the tuition fee.
University Fee: You must pay ₹12,000 to KNRUHS through the online payment gateway using a debit card, credit card, or internet banking. This fee must be paid before you can download your allotment order. However, if you already paid the university fee in the first or second phase of counselling and you slide to a different college in Mop Up, you do NOT need to pay the university fee again.
Tuition Fee: This is the college-specific fee and varies by college type. For government medical colleges, the tuition fee is as notified on each college's website. For private medical colleges, the tuition fee is as per Government Order G.O.Ms.No. 98, HM&FW(C1) Department, dated 7 August 2026. You must pay this fee at your allotted college at the time of joining.
Important: The university fee, once paid, is non-refundable under any circumstances. If you are allotted a seat and do not join, or if you join and later withdraw, you will not get this fee back. Additionally, you will face the ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment.
- University fee: ₹12,000 (online payment gateway only)
- Pay before downloading allotment order
- If already paid in phases 1–2 and sliding in Mop Up: no need to pay again
- Tuition fee: varies by college (government or private)
- Tuition fee paid at college at time of joining
- University fee is non-refundable
Critical Trap: The ₹20 Lakh Penalty and 3-Year Debarment
This is the most important rule to understand. After the Mop Up phase, joining is MANDATORY. If you are allotted a seat and do not join, or if you join and then withdraw, you will face severe penalties.
Penalty for Non-Joining: If you are allotted a seat in Mop Up and do not join the course, you must pay a penalty of ₹20 lakhs to get your original certificates back. You will also be debarred from MBBS admission under KNRUHS for 3 years. This is to prevent 'seat blocking'—where candidates secure seats but do not use them, wasting opportunities for other eligible candidates.
Penalty for Withdrawal After Joining: If you join the course after Mop Up allotment and then discontinue (withdraw), you must pay the same ₹20 lakh penalty to get your original certificates back, and you will be debarred for 3 years from KNRUHS MBBS admissions.
No Free Exit After 8 October: The last date for free exit (withdrawal without penalty) was 8 October 2026. If you are allotted in Mop Up (which happens after 8 October), there is NO free exit. Any withdrawal after joining will trigger the full penalty.
What This Means: Before you exercise web options in Mop Up, be absolutely certain that you are ready to join the college you are choosing. Do not exercise options for colleges you are not genuinely interested in. Do not hope to withdraw later—the penalty is severe and the debarment will block your path to MBBS for 3 years.
Sliding and Penalties: If you slide to a different college during Mop Up (i.e., you were allotted in an earlier phase, joined, and now get allotted to a better college in Mop Up), your earlier allotment is automatically cancelled and given to the next candidate. You must get relieved from your previous college, obtain a custodian certificate, collect your fees, and report to your new college before the joining deadline. You are still bound by the no-withdrawal rule after Mop Up.
- Allotted in Mop Up but do not join: ₹20 lakh penalty + 3-year debarment
- Join in Mop Up then withdraw: ₹20 lakh penalty + 3-year debarment
- No free exit after 8 October 2026
- Debarment applies to KNRUHS MBBS admissions only for 3 years
- Original certificates not returned unless penalty paid
- Exercise options only for colleges you genuinely want to join
Special Rule for Minority Medical Colleges
Telangana has minority medical colleges (colleges run by religious or linguistic minorities). Competent Authority Quota seats in these colleges are reserved for Muslim Minority candidates only.
If you are a Muslim Minority candidate, you are eligible for CQ seats in minority medical colleges. You are also eligible for CQ seats in all other medical colleges (government and private non-minority).
If you are not a Muslim Minority candidate, you cannot apply for CQ seats in minority medical colleges, but you can apply for CQ seats in all government and private non-minority colleges.
When exercising web options, ensure you understand which colleges are classified as minority colleges and whether you are eligible for their CQ seats.
- CQ seats in minority medical colleges: Muslim Minority candidates only
- Muslim Minority candidates: eligible for CQ seats in all colleges
- Non-Muslim candidates: eligible for CQ seats in government and private non-minority colleges only
- Check college classification before exercising options
Colleges with Enhanced MBBS Seats
Two medical colleges in Telangana have increased their MBBS intake for 2026–27:
TRR Institute of Medical Sciences: increased from 150 to 200 seats (50 new seats)
Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences: increased from 150 to 200 seats (50 new seats)
Of the total enhanced seats at each college, 50% are available under Competent Authority Quota (CQ) and 50% are available under Management Quota (MQ). This means 25 new CQ seats and 25 new MQ seats at each college.
These enhanced seats are available for allocation in the Mop Up phase. If you are interested in either of these colleges, you can exercise options for them. Details of all vacant seats are available on the KNRUHS website.
- TRR Institute of Medical Sciences: 150 → 200 seats
- Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences: 150 → 200 seats
- 50% of enhanced seats under CQ, 50% under MQ
- Details on KNRUHS website: http://knruhs.telangana.gov.in
| College Name | Previous MBBS Seats | New MBBS Seats | CQ Seats (50%) | MQ Seats (50%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRR Institute of Medical Sciences | 150 | 200 | 25 (from enhanced) | 25 (from enhanced) |
| Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences | 150 | 200 | 25 (from enhanced) | 25 (from enhanced) |
What Happens After You Submit Web Options: Allotment and Joining
After the web-option window closes on 14 October 2026 at 5:00 PM, the university will process all submitted options and generate allotments based on merit and your preferences.
You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number informing you of your allotment result and whether you have slid to a different college. You should also log in to https://tsmedadm.tsche.in/ to check your allotment status after each phase of counselling.
Every kind of MBBS/BDS seat, one rank
See the real seats your NEET rank can reach.
Once you know your allotment, you must download your allotment order from the portal. To do this, you must first pay the university fee of ₹12,000 through the online payment gateway (debit card, credit card, or internet banking). After payment, your allotment order will be available for download.
Your allotment order will specify the college allotted to you, the seat category, and the last date for joining. You must report to the Principal of your allotted college on or before this date with all original certificates, relevant bonds, and proof of payment of tuition fees.
If you do not report by the joining deadline, your admission will be automatically cancelled and the ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment will apply.
If you slide to a different college during Mop Up (because you were allotted in an earlier phase and now get a better college in Mop Up), your earlier allotment is automatically cancelled. You must get relieved from your previous college, obtain a custodian certificate, collect any fees owed to you, and report to your new college before the joining deadline.
Final Certificate Verification: When you report to your allotted college, the college will conduct a final verification of your original certificates. If any discrepancy is found (e.g., a certificate is forged, does not match your application, or is invalid), your provisional allotment will be cancelled and action will be initiated against you and your parents as per university regulations. This is a serious matter—ensure all your certificates are genuine and match your application exactly.
- Allotment result: SMS + check portal after processing
- Download allotment order after paying ₹12,000 university fee
- Report to college Principal by joining deadline with original certificates and bonds
- Failure to report: admission cancelled, ₹20 lakh penalty, 3-year debarment
- If sliding to new college: get relieved from previous college, obtain custodian certificate
- Final certificate verification at college: discrepancies lead to cancellation and action
Important Rules About Sliding and Changing Colleges
Sliding is the process by which a candidate who was allotted a seat in an earlier phase moves to a different (usually better) college in a later phase based on their new web options.
If you were allotted a seat in the first or second phase of counselling, joined the course, and are still continuing, you are eligible to exercise web options in Mop Up. If your new options result in an allotment at a different college, you will slide to that college.
When you slide, your earlier allotment is automatically cancelled and that seat is given to the next eligible candidate in the merit order. This is why the university advises you to exercise options carefully—sliding can create vacancies for other candidates.
If you slide to a new college, you must follow this process: (1) Get relieved from your previous college by obtaining a relief letter. (2) Obtain a custodian certificate from your previous college (this certifies that you have returned all college property and settled all dues). (3) Collect any fees owed to you by your previous college. (4) Report to your new allotted college before the joining deadline with your allotment order, relief letter, custodian certificate, and original certificates.
After you slide and join your new college in Mop Up, you are bound by the same no-withdrawal rule. You cannot discontinue the course after Mop Up allotment without facing the ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment.
Important: The university will send your original certificates to your new college after the closure of admissions. You do not need to carry them yourself; the university handles this transfer.
- Sliding: moving from earlier allotment to new college in Mop Up
- Eligible to slide if: allotted earlier, joined, and still continuing
- Earlier allotment automatically cancelled when you slide
- Process: get relieved, obtain custodian certificate, collect fees, report to new college
- Original certificates transferred by university after admissions close
- No withdrawal allowed after sliding in Mop Up
Common Mistakes That Get Your Application Rejected or Cancelled
Certificate Discrepancies: If your original certificates do not match your application (e.g., name spelling differs, date of birth is different, category certificate is invalid or expired, or the certificate is forged), your allotment will be cancelled during final verification at the college. Ensure all your certificates are genuine, valid, and match your application exactly.
Not Exercising Options in First Phase: If you did not exercise web options in the first phase of counselling, you are not eligible for Mop Up, even if your name is on the merit list. This is a strict rule with no exceptions.
Not Reporting by Joining Deadline: If you are allotted a seat and do not report to the college by the deadline specified on your allotment order, your admission is automatically cancelled. You will face the ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment.
Exercising Options for Colleges You Don't Want: If you exercise options for a college out of curiosity or as a backup and then get allotted there, you are bound to join. Do not exercise options for colleges you are not genuinely interested in.
Missing the Web-Option Deadline: The window is only 12–14 October 2026, 5:00 PM to 5:00 PM. If you miss this deadline, you cannot exercise options. There is no extension.
Not Paying University Fee: If you are allotted but do not pay the ₹12,000 university fee, you cannot download your allotment order and cannot join. Your admission will be cancelled.
Withdrawing After Joining: If you join the course after Mop Up allotment and then withdraw, you face the ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment. Do not join unless you are certain.
Incorrect Category Certificate: If your category certificate (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PWD) is invalid, expired, or does not match the category you applied under, your allotment will be cancelled. Ensure your category certificate is valid and matches your application.
- Certificate mismatch or discrepancy: allotment cancelled
- Did not exercise options in first phase: ineligible for Mop Up
- Did not report by joining deadline: admission cancelled, ₹20 lakh penalty
- Exercised options for unwanted colleges: bound to join if allotted
- Missed web-option deadline (12–14 Oct, 5 PM–5 PM): cannot participate
- Did not pay ₹12,000 university fee: cannot download allotment order
- Withdrew after joining: ₹20 lakh penalty, 3-year debarment
- Invalid or expired category certificate: allotment cancelled

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
I was allotted a seat in the first phase of counselling but did not join. Can I exercise web options in Mop Up?
No. If you were allotted a seat in an earlier phase and did not report to the college (did not join), you are not eligible for Mop Up. The rule is strict: only candidates who either (1) did not get allotted in earlier phases, or (2) were allotted, joined, and are still continuing the course, can exercise options in Mop Up. If you did not join earlier, you have lost your opportunity.
I was allotted a seat in the first phase, joined the course, and am still studying. Can I slide to a better college in Mop Up?
Yes. If you were allotted in an earlier phase, joined the course, and are continuing, you are eligible to exercise web options in Mop Up. If your new options result in an allotment at a different college, you will slide to that college. Your earlier allotment will be automatically cancelled and given to the next candidate. You must get relieved from your previous college, obtain a custodian certificate, and report to your new college before the joining deadline.
What is the penalty if I am allotted a seat in Mop Up but do not join?
If you are allotted a seat in Mop Up and do not join the course, you must pay a penalty of ₹20 lakhs to get your original certificates back. You will also be debarred from MBBS admission under KNRUHS for 3 years. This penalty is to prevent seat blocking. Do not exercise web options for colleges you are not genuinely interested in.
Can I withdraw from the course after joining in Mop Up?
No. After the Mop Up phase, withdrawal is not permitted. The last date for free exit (withdrawal without penalty) was 8 October 2026. If you are allotted in Mop Up (after 8 October) and join, you cannot withdraw without facing a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment. Be absolutely certain before you exercise web options and join.
I did not exercise web options in the first phase. Can I exercise them in Mop Up?
No. To be eligible for Mop Up, you must have exercised web options in the first phase of counselling. If you did not participate in the first phase, you are not eligible for Mop Up, even if your name is on the final merit list. This is a strict eligibility criterion.
How many colleges can I choose when exercising web options in Mop Up?
There is no limit on the number of colleges you can choose. You can exercise web options for any number of colleges you are interested in joining, as per your eligibility. The system will rank your choices by priority. However, only exercise options for colleges you genuinely want to join—do not add colleges just to have more choices.
What if I am allotted a seat but the seat matrix showed no vacancies at that college?
This can happen because vacancies arise during the counselling process as candidates slide from their earlier allotted seats to new seats based on their Mop Up options. This is why the university advises you to exercise options for all colleges you are interested in, even if the seat matrix shows no vacant seats currently. If you do not exercise an option for a college, you cannot be allotted there even if a seat becomes available.
Do I have to pay the university fee again if I was allotted in an earlier phase and slide in Mop Up?
No. If you already paid the ₹12,000 university fee in the first or second phase of counselling and you slide to a different college in Mop Up, you do not need to pay the university fee again. However, you must still pay the tuition fee at your new college.
What happens if my original certificates have a discrepancy when I report to the college?
If the college finds any discrepancy during final verification of your original certificates (e.g., name spelling differs, date of birth is different, category certificate is invalid, or the certificate is forged), your provisional allotment will be cancelled. Action will be initiated against you and your parents as per university regulations. Ensure all your certificates are genuine, valid, and match your application exactly before you join.
I am a Muslim Minority candidate. Which colleges can I apply for under CQ?
As a Muslim Minority candidate, you are eligible for CQ seats in minority medical colleges (reserved for Muslim Minority candidates only) and also for CQ seats in all government and private non-minority medical colleges. You have the widest choice among all candidates. When exercising web options, ensure you understand which colleges are classified as minority colleges.
What is the last date to exercise web options in Mop Up?
The last date to exercise web options is 5:00 PM on 14 October 2026. The window opens at 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026. You must submit your options within this 48-hour window. After 5:00 PM on 14 October, the portal will close and no further options can be submitted. There is no extension.
If I slide to a new college in Mop Up, how do I transfer my original certificates?
You do not need to carry your original certificates yourself. The university will send your original certificates to your new college after the closure of admissions. When you report to your new college, you must bring your allotment order, relief letter from your previous college, and custodian certificate. The university handles the transfer of certificates automatically.
The Mop Up phase web-option window is open from 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026 to 5:00 PM on 14 October 2026. If you are eligible (on the final merit list, exercised options in phase 1, and either did not get allotted earlier or were allotted, joined, and are continuing), log in to https://tsmedadm.tsche.in/ immediately and exercise your web options carefully. Remember: joining after allotment is mandatory, and withdrawal incurs a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment. Do not exercise options for colleges you are not genuinely interested in. If you face any technical issues, contact the support numbers provided. Do not wait until the last moment.
