What is Competent Authority Quota and who is eligible?
Competent Authority Quota (CQ) is a set of MBBS seats that the Telangana government fills through its own counselling process, separate from the national NEET counselling. These seats are available in government, private un-aided, and minority medical colleges affiliated to KNRUHS.
To be eligible for this first phase of web-option counselling, you must: (1) have qualified NEET UG 2026, (2) appear on the final merit list for Competent Authority Quota published by KNRUHS on 28 August 2026, (3) have uploaded your certificates (caste, income, domicile, etc.) at the time of online registration, and (4) have had those certificates provisionally verified by the university staff. If your name is on the final merit list, you are eligible.
The quota includes seats reserved for EWS (Economically Weaker Section), PWD (Persons with Disability), PMC (Physically Handicapped), CAP (Creamy Layer), and SCCL (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) categories. How to exercise web options: step-by-step process
Log in to the counselling portal https://tsmedadm.tsche.in/ using your registration credentials (roll number and password). You must access the portal from a computer with an internet connection; mobile access is not recommended for this process.
Once logged in, you will see a list of all MBBS colleges affiliated to KNRUHS where seats are available under Competent Authority Quota. Review the seat matrix (available at http://knruhs.telangana.gov.in) to understand how many seats each college has and which categories apply to you.
Rank the colleges in order of your preference. There is no limit on the number of colleges you can rank — you can rank as many colleges as you wish, in any order. The system will allot you a seat at the highest-ranked college where you are eligible and where a seat is available.
After you have ranked all your preferred colleges, save your options. You will receive a one-time password (OTP) consisting of a six-letter code (A–Z capital letters) sent to your registered mobile number. Use this to confirm your submission.
Print a copy of your saved options for your records. This is important in case you need to verify what you submitted.

Critical trap: what happens if you don't exercise web options now?
This is the most important rule to understand. If you are on the final merit list and do not exercise web options during this first phase (29 Aug–1 Sep), you will be permanently barred from exercising web options in any subsequent phase of counselling. This means you will lose your chance at an MBBS seat entirely.
Similarly, if you exercise web options, are allotted a seat, but do not join the college by the date specified on your allotment order, you will also be barred from all future counselling rounds. Submit a request for refund of the duplicate amount by emailing knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com with proof of the duplicate transaction. The university will verify and refund the duplicate amount to your bank account after the closure of admissions. However, this process takes time, so try to avoid double payments by checking your bank statement before retrying.

Tuition fee and college-specific charges
The ₹12,000 university fee is separate from tuition fees charged by the college. After you are allotted a seat and join the college, you will be required to pay additional tuition fees.
For government medical colleges, tuition fees are notified on each college's website. Check your allotted college's website for the exact amount.
For private medical colleges, tuition fees are set according to Government Order G.O.Ms.No. 98, HM&FW(C1) Department, dated 7 August 2026. Again, check your allotted college's website or contact the college directly for the exact fee structure.
You must pay the tuition fee at the college itself when you report for admission, along with submitting your original certificates and signing any required bonds.

Reporting to college and completing admission
After you download your allotment order (which requires payment of the ₹12,000 university fee), you must report to the Principal of your allotted college on or before the date and time specified on the allotment order. Do not miss this deadline — if you do not report by the specified date and time, your admission will be cancelled automatically and you will be barred from all future counselling rounds.
When you report to the college, bring all original certificates (10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, NEET admit card, NEET score card, caste certificate if applicable, income certificate if applicable, domicile certificate, medical fitness certificate, etc.). The college will conduct a final verification of these documents. If any discrepancy is found between your submitted documents and the originals, your provisional allotment will be cancelled and action will be taken as per university regulations.

What happens after you exercise web options?
After the web-option window closes on 1 September 2026 at 12:00 Noon, the university will run an allotment algorithm. This algorithm considers your ranked preferences, your eligibility for each college, and the number of seats available. It will allot you a seat at the highest-ranked college where you are eligible and where a seat is available.
