KNRUHS opens web-option exercise for Stray Vacancy Phase (Management Quota B & C/NRI) on 23–24 Oct 2026. Eligible candidates must apply by 10:30 AM on 24 Oct or lose eligibility. Last joining date: 26 Oct 2026.

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana, has opened the Stray Vacancy Phase of web-based counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions under Management Quota (B & C/NRI categories) for the 2026–27 academic year. This is the final opportunity for eligible candidates on the Management Quota merit list to secure a seat in private medical and dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS, Army College of Dental Sciences, and Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences. The web-option exercise window is extremely tight — just 31 hours — and candidates who do not participate will lose all eligibility for future phases. Joining must be completed by 26 October 2026, the national deadline set by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Eligible candidates must exercise web options between 3:30 PM on 23 October and 10:30 AM on 24 October 2026; failure to do so bars them from all future counselling phases, and non-joining after allotment triggers a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment.

What is the Stray Vacancy Phase?

The Stray Vacancy Phase is the final round of counselling for Management Quota seats. It fills seats that remain vacant after all previous counselling rounds (first phase, second phase, Mop Up phase, etc.). This phase is open only to candidates whose names appear on the final Management Quota merit list published by KNRUHS and who meet specific eligibility conditions.

This is your last chance to secure a Management Quota seat. Once this phase closes, no further counselling rounds will be held for Management Quota admissions in Telangana for the 2026–27 academic year. If you are eligible and interested in a medical or dental seat, you must act now.

Who is Eligible to Exercise Web Options?

To be eligible for the Stray Vacancy Phase, you must satisfy ALL of the following conditions. If you fail even one, you cannot participate:

First, your name must appear on the final Management Quota merit list published on the KNRUHS website. Second, you must have exercised web options in the first phase of counselling — if you did not, you are permanently barred from all subsequent phases, including this one. This rule exists to prevent 'seat blocking' (candidates holding seats without genuine interest). Third, you must not have been allotted a seat in any previous phase of counselling under either Competent Authority Quota or Management Quota. Fourth, you must not have been allotted a seat under MCC counselling up to and including the fourth phase. Fifth, you must not be admitted in any other state as per MCC portal records. Sixth, if you were allotted a seat in a previous phase and joined the course, you are ineligible — you cannot hold two seats simultaneously.

  • Your name is on the final Management Quota merit list (KNRUHS website)
  • You exercised web options in the first phase of counselling
  • You were NOT allotted a seat in any previous phase (Competent Authority or Management Quota)
  • You were NOT allotted a seat under MCC counselling (phases 1–4)
  • You are NOT admitted in any other state (per MCC records)
  • You did NOT join a course after allotment in a previous phase

Critical Trap: The First-Phase Rule

This is the single most important eligibility rule, and it catches many candidates off guard. If you did not exercise web options in the first phase of counselling, you are permanently ineligible for the Stray Vacancy Phase and all future phases. The university will not make exceptions. This rule is enforced to prevent candidates from blocking seats by participating only in later phases.

If you are unsure whether you exercised options in the first phase, check your email and SMS records for confirmation from the counselling portal. If you did not receive any confirmation, you likely did not participate. Contact the university immediately using the support numbers at the end of this article to verify your status before the deadline.

Important Dates and Deadlines

The web-option exercise window is extremely short. You have only 31 hours to complete your options. Missing this deadline means you lose all eligibility for Management Quota admissions in Telangana for 2026–27.

After allotment, you must join your allotted college by 26 October 2026 — the national deadline set by the Medical Counselling Committee. This is a hard deadline; no extensions are granted. If you do not join by this date, your admission will be cancelled automatically, and you will face a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment from KNRUHS admissions.

  • Web-option exercise opens: 3:30 PM on 23 October 2026

University Fees and Tuition Fees

If you are allotted a seat, you must pay two types of fees: a University fee (paid online immediately after allotment) and a tuition fee (paid at your college). The University fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. The tuition fee varies by college and category.

The University fee is paid online through the payment gateway using a debit card, credit card, or internet banking. You must pay this fee to download your allotment order. The tuition fee is paid directly to your allotted college and is set by the Government of Telangana or by the college itself (in the case of Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences).

CategoryCourseUniversity Fee

B CategoryBDS₹40,000
C Category / NRIMBBS₹2,00,000
C Category / NRIBDS₹80,000

Tuition Fees by College

For most private medical and dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS, the tuition fee is set by the Government of Telangana as per Government Order G.O.Ms.No. 98, HM&FW(C1) Department, dated 07.08.2026. You must check the KNRUHS website or contact your allotted college for the exact tuition fee applicable to your course and category.

For Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences (a private university), the tuition fee is fixed as follows: ₹16,50,000 per annum for B Category and ₹24,75,000 per annum for C/NRI Category. This fee is significantly higher than government-regulated colleges and is non-refundable.

  • Most colleges: As per Government of Telangana G.O.Ms.No. 98 (check with your college)
  • Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences: ₹16,50,000/year (B Category), ₹24,75,000/year (C/NRI)

Category-Specific Rules and Reservations

Different categories have different rules and seat reservations. Understanding these is crucial to know where you can apply.

B Category: In Management Quota B Category, 85% of seats are reserved for local candidates of Telangana, and 15% are open to candidates from all over India. The 15% unreserved (all-India) seats are allotted first, followed by seats reserved for Telangana locals. If you are from outside Telangana, you can only compete for the 15% unreserved seats.

C Category / NRI: These seats are open to all candidates, including Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). If you are allotted a seat under NRI quota, you must produce an original sponsorship letter from your NRI relative, along with a copy of the sponsor's passport, residence proof, bank statement, or passbook at your allotted college.

Private Minority Medical Colleges: Management Quota seats in private minority medical colleges are reserved for Muslim Minority candidates only. If Muslim Minority candidates are not available, up to 30% of these seats may be filled with non-minority students during the final phase of counselling.

Army College of Dental Sciences: Management Quota seats at Army College of Dental Sciences are reserved exclusively for wards (children) of Army personnel as per AWES (Army Welfare Education Society) regulations.

  • B Category: 85% for Telangana locals, 15% for all-India candidates
  • C Category / NRI: Open to all; NRI candidates must provide sponsorship letter and sponsor's documents
  • Private Minority Colleges: Reserved for Muslim Minority candidates; up to 30% may go to non-minority students if needed
  • Army College of Dental Sciences: Reserved for wards of Army personnel only

The Joining Process and What Happens After Allotment

After you are allotted a seat, you must complete several steps to finalize your admission. Failure to complete any step by the deadline will result in automatic cancellation of your seat and a ₹20 lakh penalty.

Step 1: Download your allotment order from the portal after paying the University fee online. Step 2: Report to the Principal of your allotted college on or before the date specified in your allotment order. Step 3: Submit all original certificates (10th, 12th, NEET admit card, NEET result, caste certificate if applicable, domicile certificate, etc.). Step 4: Submit any relevant bonds required by the college. Step 5: Pay the tuition fee to the college. Step 6: Complete the admission process. The college will conduct a final verification of your original certificates. If any discrepancy is found, your allotment will be cancelled and action may be initiated against you.

The absolute last date to join is 26 October 2026. If you do not report to your college and complete all steps by this date, your admission will be cancelled automatically. You will then face a penalty of ₹20 lakhs and will be debarred from all KNRUHS admissions for 3 years.

  • Download allotment order after paying University fee
  • Report to college Principal by the date in your allotment order
  • Submit all original certificates
  • Submit relevant bonds
  • Pay tuition fee to the college
  • Complete admission by 26 October 2026 (hard deadline)

Critical Penalty: Non-Joining and Discontinuation

The university has strict penalties to prevent seat blocking. If you are allotted a seat and do not join, or if you join and then discontinue, you will face severe consequences.

If you are allotted a seat and do not join the course by 26 October 2026, the following will happen: (1) Your admission will be cancelled automatically. (2) You will be required to pay a penalty of ₹20 lakhs. (3) You will be debarred from all KNRUHS admissions for 3 years. (4) The matter will be reported to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Dental Council of India (DCI) for further action, including possible cancellation of your seat if you are admitted elsewhere.

If you join the course and then discontinue after the Mop Up or Stray Vacancy Phase, the same penalties apply: ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment. Additionally, you will have to pay this penalty to get your original certificates back from the college. The university takes these penalties very seriously and will pursue legal action to recover the amount.

Do not exercise web options for a college unless you are genuinely committed to joining. If you are unsure, it is better to skip this phase than to face these severe consequences.

  • Non-joining after allotment: ₹20 lakh penalty + 3-year debarment + possible NMC/DCI action
  • Discontinuation after joining: ₹20 lakh penalty + 3-year debarment + legal action by university
  • Original certificates not returned unless you pay the penalty and discontinue
  • University will pursue legal action to recover penalty amounts

Document Verification and Certificate Requirements

Your admission is provisional until your original certificates are verified at your allotted college. The college will check your 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, NEET admit card, NEET result, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and any other documents required by the college.

If any discrepancy is found during verification — for example, if your name is spelled differently, if your date of birth does not match, if your caste certificate is invalid, or if your NEET score is different from what you claimed — your allotment will be cancelled immediately. The university may also initiate action against you, including lodging a criminal case if the discrepancy is deemed fraudulent.

For NRI candidates, you must also produce an original sponsorship letter from your NRI relative, along with a copy of the sponsor's passport, residence proof, bank statement, or passbook. If you cannot produce these documents, your NRI quota allotment will be cancelled.

Original certificates submitted at the time of admission will not be returned to you unless you discontinue the course (in which case you must pay the ₹20 lakh penalty). Plan accordingly if you need your certificates for other purposes.

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets
  • NEET admit card and result
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate
  • For NRI candidates: Original sponsorship letter + sponsor's passport/residence proof/bank statement
  • Any other documents required by your college

Important Notes on Seat Allocation and Regulations

Seats in Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences are distributed according to the 'Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2018'. This means the allocation process may differ slightly from other colleges. Check the KNRUHS website for specific details.

All seat allotments are made according to the selection procedure notified in multiple Government Orders (G.O.Ms.No. 115, 116, 117, 118, 125, 130, 33, and 150) and relevant High Court and Supreme Court orders. These regulations are complex and have been amended multiple times. If you have questions about how seats are allocated, contact the university using the support numbers provided.

You will be considered only for the category/categories you registered for (B and/or C/NRI). If you registered for B Category only, you cannot be allotted a C/NRI seat, even if you are eligible. If you registered for both, you can be allotted either, depending on your options and merit rank.

The University fee, once paid, is non-refundable under any circumstances. Even if you do not join or if your allotment is cancelled due to a discrepancy, the University fee will not be refunded.

  • Neelima Institute seats allocated per Telangana Private Universities Act, 2018
  • Allotments follow Government Orders and court orders on selection procedure
  • You are considered only for categories you registered for
  • University fee is non-refundable in all circumstances

Frequently asked questions

I did not exercise web options in the first phase of counselling. Can I still participate in the Stray Vacancy Phase?

No. If you did not exercise web options in the first phase, you are permanently ineligible for the Stray Vacancy Phase and all future phases. This rule is strictly enforced to prevent seat blocking. There are no exceptions. If you are unsure whether you participated in the first phase, check your email and SMS records immediately and contact the university support team.

I was allotted a seat in a previous phase but did not join. Can I participate in the Stray Vacancy Phase?

No. If you were allotted a seat in any previous phase of counselling (first phase, second phase, Mop Up, etc.), you are ineligible for the Stray Vacancy Phase, regardless of whether you joined or not. The rule is designed to prevent candidates from holding multiple seats.

What is the deadline to exercise web options, and what happens if I miss it?

The deadline is 10:30 AM on 24 October 2026. If you miss this deadline, you lose all eligibility for Management Quota admissions in Telangana for 2026–27. There is no extension. You must exercise options between 3:30 PM on 23 October and 10:30 AM on 24 October — a window of only 31 hours.

I am allotted a seat. What is the last date to join my college?

The last date to join is 26 October 2026. This is the national deadline set by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). If you do not report to your college and complete the admission process by this date, your admission will be cancelled automatically, and you will face a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment from KNRUHS admissions.

What fees do I have to pay if I am allotted a seat?

You must pay two fees: (1) University fee, paid online immediately after allotment through the payment gateway (₹1,00,000 for MBBS B Category, ₹2,00,000 for MBBS C/NRI, ₹40,000 for BDS B Category, ₹80,000 for BDS C/NRI). This fee is non-refundable. (2) Tuition fee, paid at your college (varies by college and category; for Neelima Institute, it is ₹16,50,000/year for B Category and ₹24,75,000/year for C/NRI).

I am from outside Telangana. Can I apply for B Category seats?

Only for 15% of B Category seats. In Management Quota B Category, 85% of seats are reserved for Telangana locals, and 15% are open to all-India candidates. The 15% unreserved seats are allotted first. If you are from outside Telangana, you can only compete for these 15% seats.

I am allotted a seat but I am not interested in joining. What should I do?

Do not join. If you are allotted a seat and do not join by 26 October 2026, your admission will be cancelled. However, you will face a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment from KNRUHS admissions. To avoid this, do not exercise web options for colleges you are not genuinely interested in. Only select colleges you are committed to joining.

I am allotted a seat under NRI quota. What documents do I need to submit?

You must submit an original sponsorship letter from your NRI relative, along with a copy of the sponsor's passport, residence proof, bank statement, or passbook. If you cannot produce these documents at your college, your NRI quota allotment will be cancelled.

What happens if there is a discrepancy in my certificates during verification?

If any discrepancy is found during certificate verification at your college — such as a spelling error in your name, a mismatch in your date of birth, or an invalid caste certificate — your allotment will be cancelled immediately. The university may also initiate legal action against you, including lodging a criminal case if the discrepancy is deemed fraudulent.

Can I get my original certificates back after admission?

No. Original certificates submitted at the time of admission will not be returned to you unless you discontinue the course. If you discontinue, you must pay a ₹20 lakh penalty to get your certificates back, and you will be debarred from KNRUHS admissions for 3 years.

I am allotted a seat but I want to discontinue after joining. What are the consequences?

If you join the course and then discontinue after the Mop Up or Stray Vacancy Phase, you will face a ₹20 lakh penalty and 3-year debarment from KNRUHS admissions. You must pay this penalty to get your original certificates back. The university will pursue legal action to recover the penalty amount.

Where can I find the list of vacant seats and exercise my web options?

The list of vacant seats is available on the KNRUHS website at http://knruhs.telangana.gov.in. You can exercise web options on the official portal at https://tspvtmedadm.tsche.in/ using your registration credentials. You will need a computer with internet access.

If you are eligible and on the final Management Quota merit list, log in to https://tspvtmedadm.tsche.in/ between 3:30 PM on 23 October and 10:30 AM on 24 October 2026 to exercise your web options. Select colleges and courses carefully — only choose colleges you are genuinely committed to joining. After allotment, download your allotment order, pay the University fee, and report to your college by 26 October 2026 with all original certificates and the tuition fee.
