Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana, has opened online registration for admission into postgraduate medical degree and diploma courses under the Competent Authority Quota for the 2026-27 academic year. This is a state-level counselling process for NEET-PG 2026 qualified candidates seeking seats in medical colleges affiliated to KNRUHS and NIMS Hyderabad. Registration is open from 15 October to 23 October 2026, and you must upload all mandatory certificates during this window to be considered for merit ranking. This is the first step toward admission—a merit list will be prepared after certificate verification, and the actual choice-filling and seat allocation will happen in a separate round to be announced later.
Register online by 23 October 2026 at https://tspgmed.tsche.in with all mandatory certificates; you must be a Telangana local candidate, have completed internship by 30 September 2026, and meet the NEET-PG cutoff score for your category.

Unlock My College ListWhat is Competent Authority Quota and who can apply?
Competent Authority Quota is a set of postgraduate medical seats that the Telangana government fills through its own counselling process, separate from the national MCC counselling. These seats are reserved for candidates who are local to Telangana and have studied in the state. This notification is for both in-service candidates (doctors already working in government health departments) and non-service candidates (fresh MBBS graduates).
Only candidates who are Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin, or Overseas Citizens of India card holders are eligible. Critically, you must be a local candidate of Telangana—this means you must have studied in educational institutions in Telangana for at least four consecutive years ending with the academic year in which you appeared for your qualifying exam (MBBS). Candidates from other states are not eligible for these seats, even if they scored well in NEET-PG.
Eligibility criteria: the complete checklist
Before you register, verify that you meet every single eligibility requirement. Missing even one will result in rejection during final verification, and your allotment will be cancelled. The University will verify all your claims against uploaded certificates, so accuracy is critical.
You must have passed your MBBS or equivalent degree from a medical institution in Telangana State or from Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada (a state-wide institution recognized by the National Medical Commission). Your MBBS must be from an NMC-recognized college. You must hold a valid Permanent Registration Certificate from the Telangana State Medical Council—this is issued only after you complete your compulsory rotating internship. Your internship must be completed on or before 30 September 2026 from an NMC-recognized medical college. If you are an in-service candidate (working in government service), your service will be calculated as of 30 September 2026.
- Indian national, Person of Indian Origin, or OCI card holder
- Local candidate of Telangana (studied in Telangana institutions for ≥4 consecutive years)
- NEET-PG 2026 qualified with cutoff score or above (see cutoff table below)
- MBBS/equivalent degree from Telangana or Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada (NMC-recognized)
- Permanent Registration Certificate from Telangana State Medical Council
- Internship completed on or before 30 September 2026
- NOT admitted to MBBS under Non-Local Quota in Telangana (if you were, you are ineligible)
NEET-PG 2026 cutoff scores by category
Your NEET-PG 2026 score must meet or exceed the cutoff for your category. The cutoff is based on percentile rank, not raw marks. If you fall below the cutoff, you cannot be admitted under Competent Authority Quota, regardless of your merit position. The internship cutoff date is 30 September 2026—you must have completed your internship by this date.
Note: PWD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates in the General category get a lower cutoff (45th percentile, score 244) than General/EWS candidates (50th percentile, score 262). SC/ST/OBC candidates, including those with PWD status within these categories, have a 40th percentile cutoff (score 226).
| Category | Minimum Eligibility (Percentile) | Cutoff Score |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | 50th percentile | 262 |
| General PWD | 45th percentile | 244 |
| SC / ST / OBC (including PWD of SC/ST/OBC) | 40th percentile | 226 |
Registration dates and portal
Online registration is open from 4:00 PM on 15 October 2026 to 4:00 PM on 23 October 2026. This is a strict deadline—applications submitted after 4:00 PM on 23 October will not be accepted. You must register and upload all mandatory certificates during this window. Registration is done only once; you do not need to register again for each counselling round or choice-filling exercise.
The registration portal is https://tspgmed.tsche.in. You can access it from any computer with an internet connection. After the registration window closes, the University will scrutinize all uploaded certificates and prepare a Provisional Merit List, followed by a Final Merit List. The dates for exercising web options (choosing colleges and specialties) will be notified separately on the KNRUHS website.

Registration and processing fee
You must pay a non-refundable registration and processing fee to submit your application. The fee varies by category. General and OBC candidates pay ₹10,000 plus bank transaction charges. SC and ST candidates pay ₹8,000 plus bank transaction charges. Payment is online only, via Debit card, Credit card, or Net Banking.
⚠️ CRITICAL: Once you pay the fee, it is NOT refundable under any circumstances and cannot be adjusted to a future date. If your payment fails and you make a second successful payment (double payment), you must email knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com with proof of the duplicate transaction. The University will verify and refund the duplicate amount only after the closure of all admissions—this can take weeks or months. Do not assume the fee will be returned quickly.
- General / OBC candidates: ₹10,000 + bank charges
- SC / ST candidates: ₹8,000 + bank charges
- Payment method: Debit card, Credit card, or Net Banking
- Fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable
- Double payment refund email: knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com (refund only after admissions close)
Mandatory documents to upload during registration
You must upload scanned copies of all the following documents during online registration. If any mandatory document is missing, your application will be rejected automatically. The University will verify these documents against originals when you join the allotted college. Discrepancies between uploaded and original documents can result in cancellation of your allotment.
Read each requirement carefully. Some documents have specific issue dates or issuing authorities—missing these details is a common reason for rejection. For example, caste certificates must be issued in 2026 (the current year), and service certificates must be issued after 1 September 2026. Study certificates must cover your entire MBBS course and your schooling from 6th class onwards.
- Passport-size photograph (recent, clear)
- NEET-PG 2026 Admit Card and Rank Card
- Original or Provisional MBBS Degree Certificate
- Aadhaar Card
- Study Certificate(s) from 1st MBBS to Final MBBS course
- Study certificates from 6th class to Intermediate/12th standard
- Latest Caste Certificate issued in 2026 (for BC/SC/ST candidates only; issued by Competent Authority of Government of Telangana)
- Minority Certificate (if applicable; issued by Competent Authority of Government of Telangana)
- Latest Service Certificate (if applicable; issued after 1 September 2026 by DME/DH/Director ESI/Commissioner VVP/MD Singareni Collieries or other Competent Authority as notified by Government of Telangana)
- Internship Completion Certificate (must be completed by 30 September 2026)
- Valid Permanent Medical Registration Certificate issued by Telangana State Medical Council, Hyderabad
- Post Graduate Medical Diploma Certificate (if applicable)
- Photo Identity proof (Aadhaar)
⚠️ Critical trap: Caste certificate issue date
If you are applying under SC, ST, or OBC category, your caste certificate MUST be issued in 2026 (the current year). An old caste certificate from 2024 or 2025 will not be accepted. This is a strict requirement and is a leading cause of rejection. If your caste certificate is older, you must obtain a fresh one from the Competent Authority of the Government of Telangana before uploading it.
Similarly, if you are in-service, your Service Certificate must be issued after 1 September 2026. A service certificate dated before this will not be accepted. Plan ahead and obtain these documents well before the registration deadline.
- Caste Certificate must be issued in 2026 (current year only)
- Service Certificate must be issued after 1 September 2026
- Old certificates will result in automatic rejection

Incomplete applications or those without mandatory documents will be rejected automatically.

PWD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates: special procedure
If you are applying under the PWD category, you must mention this in your online application form. After registration, you will be required to appear before a Medical Board constituted by the University to assess your eligibility for PWD status. The University will notify the schedule for this medical examination separately. You must attend this examination; failure to do so may result in your PWD claim being rejected.
PWD candidates get a lower NEET-PG cutoff score (45th percentile for General PWD, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC PWD) compared to non-PWD candidates. Ensure you have proper medical documentation of your disability before applying.
- Mention PWD category in online application
- Attend Medical Board examination as per University schedule
- Lower cutoff scores apply (see cutoff table)
- Schedule for Medical Board will be notified separately
What happens after registration: merit list and verification
After the registration window closes on 23 October 2026, the University will scrutinize all uploaded certificates. A Provisional Merit List will be prepared based on your NEET-PG 2026 rank and other eligibility criteria. After further verification, a Final Merit List will be released. The University will verify your educational qualifications, validity of your Telangana State Medical Council registration, internship completion, local area status, and category status.
⚠️ Important: Obtaining a merit position does NOT mean your candidature is automatically accepted. The University will verify all information you provided in your application. If any information is found to be incorrect or if any certificate is invalid, your candidature will be cancelled and further action may be taken. You will be required to submit original certificates and self-attested copies to the Principal of your allotted college at the time of joining for final verification. Any discrepancy between uploaded and original documents will result in cancellation of your allotment.
- Provisional Merit List prepared after registration closes
- Final Merit List released after certificate verification
- Merit position does not guarantee admission
- University verifies all eligibility conditions
- Original certificates must match uploaded copies
- Discrepancies result in cancellation of allotment

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
I am an MBBS graduate from another state. Can I apply for Telangana Competent Authority Quota seats?
No. Candidates from other states are not eligible for Competent Authority Quota seats. You must be a local candidate of Telangana, meaning you studied in Telangana educational institutions for at least four consecutive years ending with the academic year in which you appeared for your qualifying exam. If you did your MBBS outside Telangana, you are not eligible for these seats.
My NEET-PG 2026 score is 260. I am a General category candidate. Can I apply?
No. The cutoff score for General/EWS candidates is 262. Your score of 260 is below the cutoff, so you are not eligible for admission under Competent Authority Quota, even if you meet all other eligibility criteria. You cannot apply.
I completed my internship on 5 October 2026. Am I eligible?
No. The internship cutoff date is 30 September 2026. You must have completed your internship on or before this date. If you completed it after 30 September, you are not eligible for admission under Competent Authority Quota.
My caste certificate is from 2024. Can I use it for this application?
No. The notification explicitly states that the caste certificate must be issued in 2026 (the current year). An old caste certificate from 2024 will not be accepted and your application will be rejected. You must obtain a fresh caste certificate from the Competent Authority of the Government of Telangana before uploading it.
I paid the registration fee but my application was not submitted. Can I get a refund?
The registration and processing fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. However, if you made a duplicate payment due to a failed transaction, you can email knruhs.doublepayments@gmail.com with proof of the duplicate transaction. The University will verify and refund the duplicate amount only after the closure of all admissions, which may take several weeks or months.
What is the difference between Provisional Merit List and Final Merit List?
The Provisional Merit List is prepared after the registration window closes, based on your NEET-PG rank and uploaded documents. The Final Merit List is prepared after the University and departmental officials verify all uploaded certificates for eligibility conditions like educational qualifications, registration validity, internship completion, local area status, and category status. Only the Final Merit List is used for seat allocation.
I got a merit position. Does this mean I am admitted?
No. A merit position does not guarantee admission. It only means you are eligible to participate in the choice-filling process. The University will verify all your information and certificates. If any information is incorrect or any certificate is invalid, your candidature will be cancelled. You must also submit original certificates and self-attested copies to the Principal of your allotted college at the time of joining. Any discrepancy will result in cancellation of your allotment.
When will the choice-filling (web options) dates be announced?
The dates for exercising web options will be notified separately on the KNRUHS website after the Final Merit List is released. You must monitor the KNRUHS website (http://knruhs.telangana.gov.in) and the counselling portal (https://tspgmed.tsche.in) regularly for updates. The total number of seats available will also be notified before choice-filling begins.
I am an in-service candidate. How is my service calculated?
For in-service candidates, government service rendered is calculated as of 30 September 2026. You must provide a Service Certificate issued after 1 September 2026 by your department (DME/DH/Director ESI/Commissioner VVP/MD Singareni Collieries or other Competent Authority as notified by the Government of Telangana). A service certificate dated before 1 September 2026 will not be accepted.
I am applying under PWD category. What is the process?
Mention the PWD category in your online application form. After registration, you will be required to appear before a Medical Board constituted by the University to assess your eligibility for PWD status. The University will notify the schedule for this medical examination separately. You must attend this examination; failure to do so may result in your PWD claim being rejected. PWD candidates get a lower NEET-PG cutoff score.
What if I cannot submit my application by 23 October 2026?
The registration deadline is strict: 4:00 PM on 23 October 2026. Applications submitted after this time will not be accepted. There is no extension. Plan ahead and submit your application well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
Do I need to register again for each counselling round?
No. Registration is done only once during the 15-23 October 2026 window. You do not need to register again for each counselling round or choice-filling exercise. Your merit position will be used across all rounds.
Register immediately at https://tspgmed.tsche.in between 4:00 PM on 15 October and 4:00 PM on 23 October 2026. Upload all 13 mandatory documents, pay the non-refundable registration fee (₹10,000 for General/OBC, ₹8,000 for SC/ST), and ensure your caste certificate (if applicable) and service certificate (if applicable) are dated in 2026 and after 1 September 2026 respectively. After registration closes, monitor the KNRUHS website for the Provisional and Final Merit Lists, and watch for the announcement of web options (choice-filling) dates. Do not delay—missing the 23 October deadline means you cannot participate in this round.
