The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME) has released the official schedule for Round 1 PWD (Persons with Disability) counselling for postgraduate MD, MS and Diploma courses in government medical colleges for the 2026–27 academic year. This is the first and only counselling round specifically for candidates in the PWD quota. Registration, choice filling and fee payment all happen on the same day — 30 October 2026 — with a tight 3-hour window (12:01 PM to 3:00 PM). Allotment results will be published on 30 October itself, and candidates must join their allotted college by 10 November 5:00 PM or face automatic cancellation of their admission. This notice is critical for all PWD-eligible NEET-PG candidates in Tamil Nadu.
PWD counselling Round 1 registration and choice filling is TODAY (30 Oct 2026, 12:01 PM–3:00 PM); you must pay fees, fill choices and lock them within 3 hours, or you will miss this round entirely.

This is Round 1 PWD counselling — a dedicated counselling round for candidates with disabilities (PWD/differently abled status) who have qualified in NEET-PG 2026 and are eligible for the PWD quota in Tamil Nadu government medical colleges. The round covers postgraduate degree courses (MD, MS) and diploma courses (PG Diploma) across all government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Only candidates whose names appear on the official PWD-eligible list published by the DME are permitted to participate. If you are PWD-registered and have a valid PWD certificate, you must check the official website (www.tnmedicalselection.net) to confirm your eligibility before attempting to register. Participation is limited to the PWD quota only — you cannot apply for general or other reserved seats in this round.
Critical dates: Registration, choice filling and allotment
All key events happen within a compressed timeline. Registration, payment of fees, choice filling and locking of choices all occur on a single day: 30 October 2026. The window is extremely narrow — you have only 3 hours, from 12:01 PM to 3:00 PM, to complete all steps. Once 3:00 PM passes, the portal closes and you cannot register or fill choices.
Allotment results will be published on the same day (30 October 2026). You can download your provisional allotment order from 5 November 2026 onwards, up to 10 November 2026 at 3:00 PM. The final deadline to join your allotted college is 10 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. If you do not report to the college by this date and time, your admission will be cancelled automatically without further notice.

Fees you must pay: Registration and security deposit
You must pay two separate fees at the time of registration. First, a non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,000 is mandatory for all candidates participating in choice filling for government quota seats. This fee is not returned under any circumstances, even if you do not get an allotment or if you withdraw later.
Second, you must pay a refundable security deposit of ₹30,000 for government medical college seats. This deposit is held by the college and is refundable after you complete your course or withdraw, subject to the college's refund policy. Both fees must be paid during registration on 30 October 2026 before you can proceed to choice filling. Ensure you have the funds ready and use a valid payment method (online banking, debit card, or credit card as accepted by the portal).
- Non-refundable registration fee: ₹1,000 (for government quota)
- Refundable security deposit: ₹30,000 (for government medical colleges)
- Total to pay at registration: ₹31,000
- Payment must be completed before choice filling can begin
| Fee Type | Amount | Refundable? |
|---|---|---|
| Registration Fee | ₹1,000 | No |

How to register and fill your choices: Step-by-step process
Know the exact MD/MS/DNB seats your rank can get
Official round-wise closing ranks with fee and stipend, matched to your rank.
Log in to the official counselling portal (www.tnmedicalselection.net) using your NEET-PG roll number and password. Do not share your login credentials, password or OTP with anyone — these are personal and confidential. Once logged in, you will see the registration form. Fill in all required details accurately and completely.
After registration, you will be prompted to pay the registration fee (₹1,000) and security deposit (₹30,000). Complete the payment using the available online methods. Once payment is confirmed, you will gain access to the choice-filling interface. The portal will display a list of available seats (specialties and colleges) based on the seat matrix. Carefully review the prospectus and seat matrix before making your choices.
Select your preferred courses and colleges in order of preference. You can edit your choices as many times as you wish before locking. However, once you click 'Lock', your choices become final and cannot be edited, changed or cancelled. Before locking, double-check the order of your preferences — the algorithm will allot seats strictly according to your locked preference list and your rank. After locking, you cannot request a change of course or college.
- Log in with your NEET-PG credentials at www.tnmedicalselection.net
- Complete registration form with accurate details
- Pay ₹1,000 registration fee + ₹30,000 security deposit
- Review the prospectus and seat matrix thoroughly
- Fill in your course and college preferences in order of priority
- Edit choices as many times as needed before locking
- Lock your choices before 3:00 PM on 30 Oct 2026
- After locking, no changes are allowed
Important trap: Choice locking is final — no changes allowed
This is the single most common reason candidates lose their seats or end up in unwanted colleges. Once you click 'Lock' on your choice list, the portal will not allow you to edit, add, remove or reorder your preferences. The allotment algorithm will process your locked list exactly as you submitted it. If you lock your choices in the wrong order, or if you accidentally include a college you do not want, you are stuck with that preference.
The notice explicitly states: 'Request for change of course or College, from one to another is not permitted after final locking.' This means even if you are allotted a seat you did not intend, you cannot swap it for another. Before you lock, spend time reviewing your choices. Read the prospectus carefully to understand which colleges offer which specialties, and arrange your preferences in genuine order of priority. Only lock when you are 100% certain.
- ⚠️ Once locked, choices CANNOT be edited, changed or cancelled
- ⚠️ Allotment will follow your locked preference list exactly
- ⚠️ No request for course or college change is permitted after locking
- ✅ Edit as many times as you need BEFORE locking
- ✅ Take time to review the prospectus and seat matrix first
- ✅ Arrange preferences in genuine order of priority before locking
Fee exemption for PWD candidates
Eligible PWD candidates receive a significant financial benefit: exemption from tuition fee and special fee during the NEET-PG counselling and admission process for the 2026–27 academic year. This means that once you are allotted a seat and join the college, you will not be charged tuition fees or special fees by the college. However, this exemption applies only to tuition and special fees — other fees (such as examination fees, library fees, or hostel fees, if applicable) may still be charged by the college.
The registration fee (₹1,000) and security deposit (₹30,000) are still payable by all candidates, including PWD candidates, at the time of registration. The exemption kicks in only after admission. Ensure you understand the full fee structure of your allotted college by reviewing the prospectus.
- PWD candidates are exempt from tuition fee during 2026–27
- PWD candidates are exempt from special fee during 2026–27
- Exemption applies after admission, not at registration
- Registration fee (₹1,000) and security deposit (₹30,000) are still payable
- Other fees (exam, library, hostel, etc.) may still apply — check with your college
Downloading your allotment order and joining your college
After allotment results are published on 30 October 2026, you can download your provisional allotment order from the portal starting 5 November 2026. The download window remains open until 10 November 2026 at 3:00 PM. Your allotment order will specify the college, course (specialty), and the exact date and time by which you must report to the college. Save and print a copy of this order — you will need it when you join.
You must report to the Head of the Institution (the college) on or before the date and time specified in your allotment order. Bring your original certificates (MBBS degree, NEET-PG scorecard, PWD certificate, and any other documents required by the college) along with scanned copies for verification. If you do not report by the deadline, your admission will be cancelled automatically without any further notice or opportunity to appeal.
- Download allotment order from 5 Nov to 10 Nov 2026, 3:00 PM
- Allotment order specifies college, course and joining date/time
- Report to the college Head on or before the date in your order
- Bring original certificates + scanned copies for verification
- Failure to report by deadline = automatic cancellation of admission
Documents you must bring when joining the college
When you report to your allotted college, you must produce your original certificates in person. The college will verify these documents against scanned copies you provide. The following documents are typically required: MBBS degree certificate, NEET-PG scorecard, PWD certificate (original), Aadhaar card, and any other documents specified in the prospectus or allotment order.
Every kind of PG seat, one rank
See the real seats your NEET-PG rank can reach.
Do not delay in obtaining these documents. If your MBBS degree is still pending, contact your medical school immediately to expedite issuance. If your PWD certificate has expired or is about to expire, renew it before joining. The college will not admit you without valid original documents. Keep both originals and scanned copies ready and organized in a folder so you can submit them quickly on joining day.
- MBBS degree certificate (original + scanned copy)
- NEET-PG scorecard (original + scanned copy)
- PWD certificate (original + scanned copy)
- Aadhaar card or other government ID (original + scanned copy)
- Any other documents specified in the prospectus or allotment order
- Self-declaration form (to be signed at the college)
Self-declaration form and liability for false information
When you report to the college, you will be asked to sign a self-declaration form. This form states that you are liable for forfeiture (loss) of your selection and admission if any suppression of facts or misinterpretation is found at any time during or after your admission to the course. In plain language: if you have provided false information in your application, or if you have hidden any fact that would have made you ineligible, the college can cancel your admission even after you have joined.
This applies to all information you provided during registration and counselling — your NEET-PG score, your PWD status, your educational qualifications, your category, and any other detail. Be truthful in every field. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for the PWD quota, clarify with the DME before registering. Signing this form is mandatory; you cannot join without it.
- You must sign a self-declaration form at the college
- Form confirms you are liable for forfeiture of admission if facts are suppressed or misrepresented
- Applies to all information provided during registration and counselling
- College can cancel admission even after you have joined if false information is discovered
- Be truthful in every field of your application

Seat matrix and prospectus: Read before you fill choices
Before you begin filling your choices, you must read the prospectus thoroughly and review the seat matrix. The prospectus contains detailed information about each course, college, eligibility criteria, fee structure, hostel facilities and other important details. The seat matrix shows exactly how many seats are available in each specialty at each college, and how many are reserved for PWD candidates.
The seat matrix is available on the official website. Download it and study it carefully. Understand which colleges offer which specialties, how many PWD seats are available in each, and which colleges are in your preferred location. This information will help you make informed choices. The notice states: 'Selection committee does not take responsibility of Connectivity error and Procedural error.' This means if you make a mistake due to not reading the prospectus or seat matrix, the committee will not correct it or offer you a second chance.
- Read the prospectus completely before filling choices
- Download and study the seat matrix
- Understand which colleges offer which specialties
- Check how many PWD seats are available in each specialty/college

Security and confidentiality: Protect your login credentials
The notice emphasizes in bold red text: 'DON'T SHARE YOUR LOGIN-ID, PASSWORD AND OTP WITH OTHERS.' Your login credentials are personal and confidential. Never share them with anyone — not even family members, friends, or counsellors. If someone else logs in using your credentials, they can change your choices, lock your preferences, or withdraw your application without your knowledge.
When you receive an OTP (one-time password) on your phone or email, use it immediately and do not share it. If you suspect your credentials have been compromised, contact the DME immediately. See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
I am PWD-registered. Am I automatically eligible for this counselling round?
No. You must check the official PWD-eligible list published by the DME on www.tnmedicalselection.net to confirm your eligibility. Only candidates whose names appear on this list can participate in PWD counselling. Having a PWD certificate is necessary but not sufficient — you must also have qualified in NEET-PG 2026 and be registered in the PWD quota system.
What happens if I miss the 3:00 PM deadline on 30 October 2026?
If you do not register, pay fees and lock your choices by 3:00 PM on 30 October 2026, you will not be able to participate in this round. The portal will close and you will have missed the entire PWD counselling round. There is no extension, no second chance, and no way to register late. Mark this date and time in your calendar and ensure you complete all steps well before the deadline.
Can I edit my choices after I lock them?
No. Once you click 'Lock', your choices become final and cannot be edited, changed or cancelled. The allotment algorithm will process your locked list exactly as you submitted it. This is why you must review your choices carefully and arrange them in genuine order of priority before locking. Do not lock until you are 100% certain.
What if I am allotted a seat but I do not want it? Can I change my course or college?
No. The notice explicitly states: 'Request for change of course or College, from one to another is not permitted after final locking.' Once you are allotted a seat, you cannot swap it for another course or college. You can only accept the allotment and join, or reject it and forfeit your admission. Plan your choices carefully before locking to avoid this situation.
What is the deadline to join my allotted college?
The last date to join is 10 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. You must report to the Head of the Institution on or before this date and time. If you do not report by this deadline, your admission will be cancelled automatically without any further notice. There is no extension.
Do I have to pay the registration fee and security deposit even though I am PWD?
Yes. All candidates, including PWD candidates, must pay the non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,000 and the refundable security deposit of ₹30,000 at the time of registration. The fee exemption for PWD candidates applies only to tuition fee and special fee after admission, not at registration.
What documents must I bring when I join the college?
You must bring your original MBBS degree certificate, NEET-PG scorecard, PWD certificate, Aadhaar card and any other documents specified in the prospectus or allotment order. You must also bring scanned copies of all these documents for verification by the college. Do not delay in obtaining these documents — if your MBBS degree is pending, contact your medical school immediately.
What happens if I provide false information in my application?
You will be asked to sign a self-declaration form at the college confirming that you are liable for forfeiture of your admission if any suppression of facts or misinterpretation is found. The college can cancel your admission even after you have joined if false information is discovered. Be truthful in every field of your application.
How will the DME contact me with updates and results?
The DME will NOT contact you individually. All official announcements, results, schedules and updates are published only on www.tnmedicalselection.net. You must check this website regularly — at least once every day during counselling — to stay informed. Missing an update is not an excuse for missing a deadline.
What should I do if I suspect my login credentials have been compromised?
Contact the DME immediately. Do not share your login ID, password or OTP with anyone. Use a secure internet connection (not public WiFi) when logging in, and always log out properly after each session. These precautions will protect your admission from unauthorized access.
Is the security deposit refundable?
Yes, the security deposit of ₹30,000 is refundable. However, it is held by the college and will be refunded only after you complete your course or withdraw, subject to the college's refund policy. The registration fee of ₹1,000 is non-refundable under all circumstances.
Where can I find the seat matrix and prospectus?
Both are available on the official website www.tnmedicalselection.net. Download and read them thoroughly before filling your choices.
