What is this counselling round and who can participate?

This is Round 1 of the official online counselling for DNB postgraduate courses in Tamil Nadu government medical colleges. It covers two types of DNB qualifications: (1) DNB 2-year diploma courses (post-MBBS), and (2) DNB broad-specialty courses (post-MBBS). Both are recognized postgraduate medical qualifications at the same level as MD and MS degrees.

All candidates who appear on the official NEET-PG merit list and are eligible as per the prospectus can participate. The counselling is conducted online on the basis of your rank and the rule of reservation (General, OBC, SC, ST, and other applicable categories). Participation is voluntary — if you do not register, you forfeit your chance in this round.

Important dates: registration, choice filling, allotment, and joining

The entire Round 1 process spans from 31 October to 10 November 2026. Below is the complete timeline. Mark every date on your calendar — missing even one deadline will result in cancellation of your admission.

Fees you must pay during registration

When you register online, you must pay two separate amounts. Both are mandatory — you cannot proceed without payment.

The first is a non-refundable Registration Fee of ₹1,000. This is a one-time charge and will not be returned under any circumstance, even if you do not get a seat or withdraw later.

The second is a Refundable Security Deposit of ₹30,000 for government medical college seats. This deposit is held by the authority and will be refunded to you after the counselling process is complete, provided you have not forfeited your seat or violated any rules. If you withdraw or your admission is cancelled due to non-reporting or suppression of facts, this deposit may be forfeited.

  • Non-refundable Registration Fee: ₹1,000
  • Refundable Security Deposit (Government Medical Colleges): ₹30,000
  • Total to be paid at registration: ₹31,000

How to register and fill your course choices

Registration and choice filling happen on the same online portal. You will log in using your credentials (login ID and password), which you will have received when you registered for NEET-PG. The portal is www.tnmedicalselection.net.

Step 1: Log in with your credentials. Step 2: Pay the registration fee (₹1,000) and security deposit (₹30,000). Step 3: Read the prospectus thoroughly — it contains the seat matrix, course details, and college information. Step 4: Select your preferred courses and colleges in order of preference. You can choose multiple options. Step 5: Edit your choices as many times as you wish before the deadline. Step 6: Once you are satisfied with your order of preference, click 'Lock' before 5 PM on 3 November 2026. After locking, you cannot edit or change your choices.

⚠️ CRITICAL TRAP: Once you lock your choices, you cannot change them. The selection committee will not allow any edits after locking, and you cannot request a change of course or college after final locking. Therefore, verify your choices and their order very carefully before clicking 'Lock'.

  • Portal: www.tnmedicalselection.net
  • Registration window: 31 Oct 12:01 PM to 3 Nov 5:00 PM
  • You can edit choices unlimited times before locking
  • Once locked, no edits are allowed
  • No change of course or college permitted after locking

What happens after you lock your choices?

After the choice-filling deadline (3 November 5:00 PM), the selection committee processes all locked choices. This processing happens on 4 November 2026. The committee applies the rule of reservation (your category — General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.) and your rank to allocate seats.

On 5 November 2026, the allotment result is declared. This means the committee announces which candidate gets which seat. You will not receive a phone call or email — you must log in to the portal and download your Provisional Allotment Order yourself.

You have until 10 November 2026 at 3:00 PM to download your allotment order. If you do not download it by this time, you will not know where you are allotted, and you may miss the joining deadline.

  • Processing: 4 Nov 2026
  • Result declared: 5 Nov 2026
  • Download window: 5 Nov to 10 Nov 3:00 PM
  • No direct communication from the committee — check the portal yourself
  • Seat Matrix available on official websites

Downloading your allotment order and joining your college

Once the result is declared on 5 November, log in to www.tnmedicalselection.net and download your Provisional Allotment Order. This document will state which college and course you have been allotted, and the exact date and time by which you must report to that college.

You must join your allotted college on or before the date and time specified in your Provisional Allotment Order. The overall last date for joining is 10 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. If you do not report to the Head of the Institution by this deadline, your selection and admission will be cancelled immediately without any further notice or opportunity to explain.

⚠️ CRITICAL: Non-reporting by the deadline results in automatic cancellation. There is no grace period, no appeal, and no second chance. If you are allotted a college far away and cannot reach by the deadline, you will lose your seat.

  • Download allotment order from www.tnmedicalselection.net
  • Check the exact reporting date and time in your order
  • Report to the Head of the Institution in person
  • Last date to join: 10 Nov 2026, 5:00 PM
  • Non-reporting = automatic cancellation of admission

Documents you must bring when you join

When you report to your allotted college, you must bring your original certificates in person. You must also bring scanned copies of all original certificates for verification by the college. The college will verify that your documents are genuine and that you meet all eligibility criteria.

At the time of reporting, you must also sign a self-declaration form stating that you are liable for forfeiture of your selection and admission if any suppression of facts or misinterpretation is found at any time during or after admission. This means if the college later discovers that you provided false information (e.g., a fake caste certificate, false MBBS degree, or incorrect category), your admission will be cancelled and you may face legal action.

  • Original certificates (in person)
  • Scanned copies of original certificates
  • Self-declaration form (to be signed at the college)
  • Any other documents as specified in the prospectus

Common mistakes that get your admission cancelled

1. **Not reporting by the deadline**: If you do not join your allotted college by 5 PM on 10 November 2026, your admission is cancelled without notice. There is no flexibility.

2. **Locking the wrong choices**: Once you lock, you cannot change. If you lock the wrong course or college by mistake, you are stuck with that choice.

3. **Not downloading your allotment order**: The committee does not send you a letter or email. If you do not log in and download your order, you will not know where you are allotted or when to report.

4. **Bringing incomplete or wrong documents**: If your original certificates do not match your application, or if you bring photocopies instead of originals, the college may reject you at the time of joining.

5. **Suppression of facts**: If you hide information (e.g., you are not actually eligible, your MBBS degree is under dispute, your category certificate is fake), the college can cancel your admission even after you have joined.

6. **Sharing your login credentials**: The notice explicitly warns: do not share your login ID, password, or OTP with anyone. If someone else logs in and changes your choices, you will have no recourse.

What you must read before starting: the prospectus

The notice emphasizes that all candidates must read the Prospectus thoroughly before starting choice filling. The prospectus contains critical information: the seat matrix (how many seats are available in each course and college), eligibility criteria, reservation rules, course details, college locations, and any special instructions.

Do not skip this step. Many candidates lose seats because they did not read the prospectus and did not understand the eligibility rules or the seat availability. The prospectus is available on the official website www.tnmedicalselection.net.

  • Read the prospectus before choice filling
  • Understand the seat matrix for each course and college
  • Check eligibility criteria for each course
  • Verify reservation rules for your category
  • Prospectus available at www.tnmedicalselection.net

Important rules and disclaimers

The selection committee does not take responsibility for connectivity errors or procedural errors on your part. If your internet connection drops while you are filling choices, and you do not lock in time, that is your loss — the committee will not extend the deadline or allow a re-do.

No communication will be sent directly to you. All updates, schedules, results, notices, and news will be posted on the official website www.tnmedicalselection.net. You are responsible for checking the website regularly. The committee will not contact you individually.

If you share your credentials, someone else can log in and change your choices, and you will have no way to recover your seat.

Keep your credentials safe. Use a strong password. Do not write them down in a place where others can see them. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact the selection committee immediately through the official website.
