Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, has released its official admission prospectus for MD/MS postgraduate medical courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The prospectus outlines all rules, regulations, fees, mandatory bonds, documents required at admission, and the complete framework for candidates allotted seats through either the All India Quota (MCC) or the Andhra Pradesh state quota (Dr NTRUHS). SVIMS offers 67 MD/MS seats across 21 specialties, with 29 seats under AIQ and 38 under state quota. This is a critical document for every candidate who has been allotted a seat at SVIMS—missing even one requirement can lead to rejection or cancellation of admission.
You must submit two indemnity bonds (on Rs. 100 stamp paper each) with two gazetted officer sureties, pay fees in three instalments starting with Rs. 25,600 university fee, and complete Andhra Pradesh Medical Council registration within one month of joining, or face stipend suspension and course termination.

The Two Mandatory Indemnity Bonds: What They Are & Why They Matter
Every candidate admitted to an MD/MS course at SVIMS must execute two indemnity bonds on non-judicial stamp paper worth Rs. 100 each. These bonds are legal documents that bind you to financial penalties if you violate certain conditions. Both bonds must be submitted on or before the date of commencement of the course—failure to submit them will result in your admission being cancelled.
**Indemnity Bond-I (Discontinuation Bond):** This bond commits you to pay Rs. 3,00,000 (three lakhs) if you discontinue or cancel your course at any time after admission. In addition to this penalty, you must also refund the full stipend amount you have received from SVIMS up to that point. This bond protects the institute against candidates who drop out mid-course.
**Indemnity Bond-II (Compulsory Service Bond):** This bond commits you to work in the post and pay offered by SVIMS for a period of one year after successful completion of your course. If you refuse to join the post offered or fail to complete the one-year service, you must pay Rs. 40,00,000 (forty lakhs). In-service candidates (those already employed in a government or private institution) are exempt from submitting this bond.
**Critical requirement:** Both bonds must have two sureties who are gazetted officers working in either the state government or the Government of India. Each surety must provide a copy of their Aadhar card and PAN card along with the bond. The bond proformas are provided in Appendix-I of the prospectus. Failure to arrange gazetted officer sureties or to submit the bonds on time will result in cancellation of your admission.
- Bond-I: Rs. 3,00,000 penalty + full stipend refund if you discontinue the course
- Bond-II: Rs. 40,00,000 penalty if you refuse compulsory service after course completion
- Both bonds require two gazetted officer sureties with Aadhar and PAN copies
- Bonds must be on Rs. 100 non-judicial stamp paper
- Submission deadline: on or before course commencement date
- In-service candidates are exempt from Bond-II only
Monthly Stipend: How Much You Earn & Important Conditions
SVIMS pays a monthly stipend to all admitted MD/MS candidates for the full duration of their course (up to 36 months), provided they maintain the required monthly attendance. The stipend is paid directly and is subject to your monthly attendance record. In-service candidates (those already employed in a government or private institution) do NOT receive any stipend; instead, they draw leave salary from their parent institution.

**Important:** Your stipend will be stopped immediately if you fail to register with the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council within one month of joining. Registration is mandatory and is a prerequisite for attending to patients in the hospital. Without registration, you cannot perform clinical duties, and your stipend payment will be suspended until registration is completed.

Compulsory Service & Bonds: One Year of Mandatory Work After Course Completion
After you successfully complete your MD/MS course, you are required by Andhra Pradesh government order (G.O.RT. No. 144, dated 20-04-2018) to serve in a post offered by SVIMS for a period of one year. This compulsory service must begin immediately after course completion. During this one-year service, you will be paid an honorarium (a fixed amount, not a salary).
**Exemptions:** In-service candidates (those already employed in a government or private institution) and candidates who are selected for super-speciality courses (DM/MCh) are exempt from compulsory service.
**Penalty for non-compliance:** If you refuse to join the post offered by SVIMS or fail to complete the one-year compulsory service, you must pay Rs. 40,00,000 (forty lakhs) as per the indemnity bond. Additionally, any unnecessary delay in joining without a valid reason will result in execution of the bond and withholding of your degree certificate. This means you will not receive your MD/MS degree until the bond is settled.
**Important:** The compulsory service bond (Indemnity Bond-II) is a legal commitment. Before signing it, ensure you understand the terms and are prepared to fulfil the one-year service obligation. Consult the prospectus and the government orders (G.O.Ms. No. 251, dated 02-10-2022) for complete details on the conditions of service.
- Compulsory one-year service in SVIMS post immediately after course completion
- Honorarium paid during service (amount as per government orders)
- Exemptions: in-service candidates and DM/MCh selected candidates
- Penalty for refusal: Rs. 40,00,000 and withholding of degree certificate
- Unnecessary delay in joining results in bond execution and degree withholding

Critical Trap: False Certificates & Admission Cancellation
⚠️ **This is a major trap that has caught many candidates.** If any certificate you submit at the time of joining is found to be false, forged, or not genuine by the competent authority at ANY TIME during or after your course, your admission will be cancelled and your degree will be revoked. This applies even if the certificate is discovered years after you have completed the course.
Additionally, if you are found to have supplied false information, withheld information, or concealed certain facts in your application or during the admission process, you will be debarred from continuing the course. Your name will be referred to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Medical Council of India for further action, which can result in permanent damage to your medical career.
**What this means for you:** Ensure that every certificate you submit is genuine and issued by the authorized body. Do not attempt to use provisional certificates where original certificates are required. Do not alter or modify any document. If you have any doubt about the authenticity of a certificate, clarify it with the issuing authority before submission. The consequences of submitting false documents are severe and irreversible.
- False certificates = admission cancellation + degree revocation (even years later)
- Withheld or concealed information = debarment from course + NMC referral
- Ensure all certificates are genuine and from authorized bodies
- Do not use provisional certificates where originals are required
- Do not alter or modify any document

The hostel authority can evict you forcibly if you remain in unauthorized occupancy. You are responsible for the proper upkeep of furniture and fixtures in your room; any damage or loss will result in a penalty assessed by the hostel wardens. Discipline, Conduct & Grounds for Termination of Service
As a postgraduate resident at SVIMS, you are required to maintain strict discipline and adhere to the institute's conduct rules at all times. You must not participate in strikes, protests, or any form of agitation during your course. You are not permitted to criticize the institute's policies in print or electronic media or anywhere else, as this amounts to dereliction of duties. If you have grievances, you must submit them to the Dean through the proper channel. You are not permitted to approach legal authorities, the NMC, or the government without prior written permission from the institution.
**Grounds for termination of service:** The Director-cum-Vice Chancellor can terminate your service without prior notice on the following grounds: (1) If you are found to be medically unfit and unable to discharge your duties for a considerable period; (2) If you are guilty of insubordination, interference with patient care or university administration, or misconduct; (3) If you fail to attend duties, air your views against the institute in media, participate in strikes, or affect patient care; (4) If you are absent continuously for more than 30 days without intimation to the office—in this case, a course completion certificate will be issued and a deemed penalty will be levied.
**Performance evaluation:** Your performance will be evaluated periodically by a committee. If your performance is found to be unsatisfactory, the institute has the right to extend your training period, detain you, make you ineligible for the final examination, or remove your name from the rolls of the institute. Violation of conduct rules can also result in cancellation of your admission and invocation of the bond terms.
- Maintain strict discipline and adhere to conduct rules
- No strikes, protests, or agitation during course
- No criticism of institute policies in media or elsewhere
- Submit grievances to Dean through proper channel only
- No approach to legal authorities/NMC without prior permission

Ragging: Prohibition & Affidavit Requirement
Ragging is strictly prohibited in all educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Act No. 26 of 1997 (dated 21-08-1997) and subsequent amendments, as well as under the NMC/UGC (Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Medical Colleges/Institutions) Regulations, 2009. SVIMS has zero tolerance for ragging.
**Consequences of ragging:** If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the institute authorities, the student involved will be given an opportunity to explain. If the explanation is not found satisfactory, the student will be expelled from the institution immediately. The information will be forwarded to the NMC and UGC for further action, which can result in permanent debarment from medical education.
**Affidavit requirement:** After admission, you must submit an anti-ragging affidavit duly signed by yourself and your parent or guardian. The affidavit format is available on the website www.amanmovement.org. This affidavit must be submitted at the time of admission and is a mandatory document. Failure to submit it will result in your admission being cancelled.
- Ragging is prohibited under AP Act No. 26 of 1997 and NMC/UGC Regulations 2009
- Zero tolerance policy at SVIMS
- Ragging = expulsion + NMC/UGC referral + permanent debarment
- Anti-ragging affidavit (signed by student and parent) must be submitted at admission

Mandatory AP Medical Council Registration Within One Month
This is a critical requirement that many candidates overlook. You must register with the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council within ONE MONTH of joining your course. This is not optional—it is mandatory and is a prerequisite for performing any clinical duties in the hospital.
**Consequences of non-registration:** If you fail to register within one month, you will NOT be permitted to attend to patients in the hospital. Your monthly stipend will be stopped immediately and will remain suspended until you complete the registration. This can create severe financial hardship and can also result in your course being terminated for non-compliance.
**What to do:** Contact the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council immediately after joining and submit all required documents for registration. Do not delay this process. Ensure you have all necessary certificates and documents ready before joining so that you can complete the registration quickly. If you have any doubts about the registration process, contact SVIMS administration at the contact details provided in the prospectus.
- AP Medical Council registration mandatory within 1 month of joining
- Registration required to attend to patients
- Non-registration = stipend suspension + possible course termination
