What is the Stray Vacancy Round?

The stray vacancy round is the final round of seat allotment in Rajasthan's NEET UG 2026 counselling. It fills seats that remain vacant after Rounds 1, 2, and 3 are completed. These are seats that were not filled by candidates who were allotted them, or seats that were never allotted in earlier rounds because no eligible candidate chose them.

This round is open to candidates who did not secure a seat in any of the three main rounds, as well as to certain categories of candidates who exited earlier rounds under specific conditions (see eligibility section below). It is your last opportunity to secure an MBBS or BDS seat in Rajasthan through the state counselling process.

Who is Eligible to Apply for Stray Vacancy Round?

You are eligible for the stray vacancy round if you fall into one of the following categories. Read carefully — some categories have strict conditions that disqualify you.

Candidates who did not get allotment in any of Rounds 1, 2, or 3 are automatically eligible. Candidates who got allotment in Round 1 and exited without forfeiture (meaning you resigned and did not lose your security deposit) or resigned without forfeiture on not upgrading in Round 2 (resignation submitted by 16 September 2026 at 5:00 PM) and did not get any allotment in Round 3 are also eligible. Candidates who got allotment or upgrade in Round 2, did not join, and were not allotted a seat in Round 3 after re-registration are eligible. All newly registered candidates and re-registered candidates (as per norms) can participate. Candidates who fall under clause XI ("Other" category — All India candidates) are eligible to be considered for vacant seats after the state merit list is exhausted.

  • Did not get allotment in Round 1, 2, or 3
  • Got allotment in Round 1, exited without forfeiture, and did not get allotment in Round 3
  • Got allotment in Round 2, did not join, and were not allotted in Round 3 (on re-registration)
  • Newly registered candidate
  • Re-registered candidate (as per norms)
  • Candidate under clause XI (All India/non-domicile candidate)

Who is NOT Eligible — Critical Disqualifications

Several categories of candidates are explicitly barred from the stray vacancy round. If you fall into any of these, you cannot participate, no matter what. Pay close attention to these rules — they are strict and have no exceptions.

You are NOT eligible if: (1) You exited with forfeiture of security amount in Round 2 allotment and did not register in Round 3 — unless you now register fresh for stray vacancy round and meet all other eligibility criteria. (2) You have a joined status after Round 3 as per information on the MCC website — this means you have already joined a seat elsewhere and cannot participate. (3) You were allotted or upgraded a seat in Round 3 but did not join — you are permanently barred from stray vacancy round. (4) You have already joined a seat in another college or institute through All India Counselling or any other counselling as of the specified date — you cannot join two colleges at the same time.

  • ⚠️ Already joined a seat in Round 3 or any other counselling — permanently barred
  • ⚠️ Allotted/upgraded in Round 3 but did not join — cannot participate in stray vacancy
  • ⚠️ Have joined status on MCC website after Round 3 — ineligible
  • ⚠️ Exited with forfeiture in Round 2 and did not register in Round 3 — can only participate if you register fresh now

Important Dates and Deadlines

The stray vacancy round runs on a tight 11-day schedule from 16 to 26 October 2026. Every date is critical — missing even one deadline will disqualify you. Mark these dates on your calendar and set reminders.

Document verification happens 18–20 October (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at SMS Medical College, Jaipur. Security deposit must be made online by 21 October 2026 at 5:00 PM. Application Fee — Who Pays What

All fresh candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee. The amount depends on your category. Candidates already registered in earlier rounds do not need to pay the registration fee again if they are eligible for stray vacancy round.

General category (UR/EWS) and reserved category candidates (SC, ST, ST-STA, OBC, MBC) of Rajasthan state domicile pay ₹2,500 plus applicable transaction charges. SC, ST, and ST-STA category candidates of Rajasthan state domicile pay a reduced fee of ₹1,500 plus applicable transaction charges. This fee is non-refundable and must be deposited online by 17 October 2026 at 4:00 PM. If you do not pay the fee by this deadline, your application will not be processed.

  • General/EWS/OBC/MBC (Rajasthan domicile): ₹2,500 + transaction charges
  • SC/ST/ST-STA (Rajasthan domicile): ₹1,500 + transaction charges
  • Already registered candidates: No fee required
  • Deadline: 17.10.2026 at 4:00 PM

Security Deposit — Amount by Seat Type and Course

In addition to the application fee, you must deposit a security amount (refundable if you join a seat, forfeited if you do not join). The amount varies depending on the type of seat and course you wish to pursue. This is a mandatory step — without it, you will not be considered for allotment.

For MBBS in government medical colleges, government-society medical colleges, RUHS CMS, and ESIC MC: ₹50,000 for UR/EWS, SC/ST/ST-STA/OBC/MBC candidates opting for government seats. For MBBS in management seats at government-society colleges and RUHS CMS: ₹2,00,000. For MBBS in private medical colleges: ₹5,00,000. For BDS in government dental colleges, RUHS CDS, and private dental colleges: ₹10,000. Candidates who deposit ₹2,00,000 or ₹5,00,000 are automatically eligible to fill choices for government medical/dental colleges, government-society colleges, RUHS CMS, RUHS CDS, ESIC MC, and private dental colleges.

If you deposited security in Round 1 or Round 2 (and your deposit was not forfeited due to non-joining in Round 2), you do not need to deposit again — but you must deposit any applicable difference amount based on the seat type or course you now wish to pursue. If you did not deposit security in any earlier round, you must deposit the full applicable amount now. If you deposited security in earlier rounds but were never allotted a seat, you do not need to deposit in stray vacancy round — but you must deposit any applicable difference amount. Deposit must be made online by 21 October 2026 at 5:00 PM.

Document Verification — What You Must Submit and When

Document verification is mandatory and must be done in person. You must bring all original documents to SMS Medical College, Jaipur, Academic Block, between 18 and 20 October 2026 (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM). If you do not verify your documents or do not submit them within this window, you will not be allowed to participate in the stray vacancy round — there are no exceptions.

At the time of document submission, you must also submit a bond in the prescribed format (available on the website). This bond contains important conditions about joining, resignation, and forfeiture of security. Failing to submit the bond will make you ineligible for the stray vacancy round. The board will keep your original documents after verification. You will need to bring them again when you report at your allotted college desk (if allotted).

The notice does not list specific documents in detail — you must refer to the Information Booklet and college information sheet on the website (https://ug.neetrajasthan.com) for the complete list of required documents. Typically, these include NEET admit card, NEET scorecard, 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates, caste/domicile certificates (if applicable), and other eligibility documents. Bring 2 copies of your application form and 2 sets of photocopies of all relevant documents to the college desk at reporting.

Choice filling is the process where you rank colleges and seats in order of preference. You can fill, save, and change your choices multiple times during the choice-filling window (19–21 October 2026). However, there is one critical rule: all choices you filled in Rounds 1, 2, and 3 will be automatically deleted and will not be considered for stray vacancy round. You must fill completely fresh choices for stray vacancy round.

Choice filling will be enabled only for candidates whose verified documents and prescribed bond have been deposited with the board within the stipulated time (by 20 October 2026). If your documents are not verified or your bond is not submitted, you will not be able to fill choices. Choices will auto-lock at 11:45 PM on 21 October 2026 — after this time, you cannot make any changes. If you do not fill fresh choices for stray vacancy round, you will not be considered for allotment, even if you are eligible.

The order in which you rank colleges matters. Allotment is based on your merit rank and your choice order. Rank colleges in the order you genuinely prefer them, considering location, reputation, and course (MBBS vs. BDS). You can choose from government, government-society, RUHS, ESIC, and private colleges as per your security deposit and eligibility.

  • ⚠️ Old choices from Rounds 1, 2, 3 are automatically deleted — you must fill fresh choices
  • ⚠️ If you do not fill fresh choices, you will NOT be allotted a seat
  • ✅ Choice filling window: 19–21 October 2026
  • ✅ Auto-lock at 11:45 PM on 21 October — no changes after this
  • ✅ You can fill, save, and change choices multiple times before auto-lock
  • ✅ Rank colleges in order of genuine preference

Allotment, Reporting, and Joining

Allotment results will be published on 22 October 2026. You must print your allotment letter from the website (22–26 October; printing disabled at 2:00 PM on 26 October). If you are allotted a seat, you must deposit the prescribed one-year tuition fee online by 26 October 2026 at 5:00 PM. Then, you must report in person at your allotted college desk at SMS Medical College, Academic Block, between 22 and 26 October 2026 (9:00 AM–4:00 PM on 23–25 October; until 8:00 PM on 26 October).

At reporting, bring: (1) Printout of allotment letter, (2) All original documents, (3) Required bonds, (4) 2 copies of application form, (5) 2 sets of photocopies of all relevant documents (as listed in the Information Bulletin), (6) 4 copies of allotment letter, (7) Fee receipt. If you do not report within the deadline, your seat will be cancelled and your security deposit will be forfeited.

Once you join a seat in stray vacancy round, you cannot resign or return your documents on or before the last date of admissions as scheduled by MCC/NMC/DCI. The bond conditions will apply. If you do not join the allotted seat, you must fulfil the bond conditions and your security deposit will be forfeited. The academic session commences on 15 September 2026 (note: this date has already passed; the notice may contain an error or refer to the ongoing session).

  • ✅ Allotment result: 22 October 2026
  • ✅ Print allotment letter: 22–26 October (disabled at 2:00 PM on 26 Oct)
  • ✅ Deposit one-year tuition fee: 22–26 October (by 5:00 PM on 26 Oct)
  • ✅ Report at college desk: 22–26 October (9:00 AM–4:00 PM on 23–25 Oct; until 8:00 PM on 26 Oct)
  • ⚠️ Bring all documents, bonds, 2 copies of application form, 2 sets of photocopies, 4 copies of allotment letter & fee receipt
  • ⚠️ If you do not report by deadline, seat is cancelled and security is forfeited
  • ⚠️ Once joined, you cannot resign before the last date of admissions

Common Mistakes That Get Your Application Rejected

Many candidates lose their seats or are disqualified due to preventable errors. Here are the most common traps:

Not filling fresh choices for stray vacancy round. Your old choices from Rounds 1, 2, and 3 are automatically deleted. If you do not fill new choices, you will not be allotted a seat, even if you are eligible and have completed all other steps. Not depositing security by the deadline (21 October at 5:00 PM). Without security deposit, you will not be considered for allotment. Not verifying documents in person by 20 October 2026. If your documents are not verified or you do not submit the bond, you cannot participate. Not reporting at the college desk by 26 October 2026 at 8:00 PM. If you do not report, your seat is cancelled and security is forfeited. Applying when you are ineligible (e.g., you already joined a seat in Round 3 or another counselling). This will result in rejection. Not bringing all required documents and copies at reporting. Missing even one document can delay or prevent your admission.

  • ⚠️ Not filling fresh choices = no allotment
  • ⚠️ Missing security deposit deadline = ineligible for allotment
  • ⚠️ Not verifying documents in person = cannot participate
  • ⚠️ Not reporting by deadline = seat cancelled, security forfeited
  • ⚠️ Applying when already joined elsewhere = rejection
  • ⚠️ Missing documents at reporting = admission delayed or denied
