Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has released the official schedule for the 2nd round of online counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions under NEET UG 2026. The 2nd round runs from 3 September to 18 September 2026 and is open to candidates who did not secure a seat in Round 1, those whose Round 1 seats were cancelled during document verification, and those who wish to upgrade their Round 1 seat. What is the 2nd Round of Counselling and Why Does It Matter?

The 2nd round of counselling is a second chance to secure an MBBS or BDS seat at a college in Punjab. Not all candidates get a seat in Round 1 — some have lower merit scores, some did not fill choices, and some had their Round 1 seats cancelled because their documents were incomplete or they did not meet eligibility criteria. The 2nd round allows these candidates, plus those who already joined a Round 1 seat but want to upgrade to a better college or course, to participate again.

The 2nd round is also the last opportunity before Round 3 (if it happens). If you do not join your Round 2 allotted seat, your security deposit is forfeited and you must register fresh for Round 3 with a new deposit. So this round is your chance to secure a seat without losing money.

Who Is Eligible for the 2nd Round?

BFUHS has defined five groups of candidates who are eligible for Round 2. Read carefully — if you do not fall into one of these groups, you cannot participate.

**Group I:** You registered in Round 1 but did not get any seat allotment. This is the largest group — if you applied in Round 1 and your name did not appear in the allotment result, you are in this group.

**Group II:** You got a seat in Round 1, reported to the college, but your seat was cancelled during document verification because your documents were incomplete or you did not meet the eligibility criteria. You can apply again in Round 2, but your category may change based on the documents you now submit.

**Group III:** You got a seat in Round 1, reported and joined the college, and now want to upgrade to a better college or course. You must have submitted 'Yes' for willingness to participate in Round 2 when you joined in Round 1.

**Group IV:** You got a seat in Round 1 but did not join the college at all. You can now participate in Round 2.

**Group V:** You got a seat in Round 1, joined the college, but then resigned online within the allowed time frame. You can now participate in Round 2.

**Who is NOT eligible:** If you did not register in Round 1 or Round 2, you cannot participate. If you became ineligible due to inadequate documents (as per Punjab Government or MCC eligibility criteria), you cannot participate.

The 2nd round runs on a tight schedule. Missing even one deadline can cost you your seat and your security deposit. Below are all the key dates. Mark them in your calendar and set phone reminders.

**Registration and willingness:** If you are a new applicant (Group I or IV), you must register between 3–5 September 2026 by 5:00 PM. If you already registered in Round 1, you do not need to register again. All eligible candidates must submit 'willingness to participate' between 3–7 September 2026 by 5:00 PM. Willingness is mandatory — without it, you will not be considered for allotment.

**Merit list and objections:** The provisional merit list will be displayed on 8 September 2026. If you believe there is an error in your merit position or category, you must visit the Admission Branch in person on 9 September 2026 by 3:00 PM with relevant documents to lodge an objection. Email objections will not be accepted. The revised merit list (if any) will be displayed on 9 September 2026.

**Choice filling:** This is critical. You must fill your course, college, quota, and category preferences online between 8–10 September 2026 by 5:00 PM. Choices submitted in Round 1 are null and void — you must fill fresh choices. Once the deadline passes, choices are locked automatically and cannot be changed. Do not wait until the last minute.

**Seat allotment and reporting:** Seats will be processed on 11–12 September 2026. The provisional allotment result will be displayed on 12 September 2026. If you have an objection, you must visit the Admission Branch in person on 14 September 2026 by 4:00 PM with documents. The revised allotment (if any) will be displayed on 15 September 2026. Security Deposit and Fees: What You Must Pay

To participate in Round 2, you must pay a security deposit. This is not tuition fee — it is a refundable deposit that ensures you are serious about joining. If you join your allotted seat, the deposit is adjusted against your tuition fee. If you do not join, the deposit is forfeited (not refunded).

The security deposit amount depends on your category (General or SC/BC) and the type of college (Government or Private). See the table below for exact amounts. Note that the application/registration fee (₹5,000 for General, ₹2,500 for SC/BC, plus 18% GST) is separate and is charged only for fresh applicants.

**Important:** If you already paid a security deposit in Round 1 and got a seat, you do not pay again for Round 2. Instead, your Round 1 deposit is adjusted, and you pay only the remaining tuition fee. However, if you paid more than ₹10,000 (₹5,000 for SC/BC) for a Government college or ₹2,00,000 for a Private college in Round 1, you do not need to pay any additional security deposit for Round 2.

How to Register and Submit Willingness

If you are a new applicant (did not register in Round 1), you must register between 3–5 September 2026 by 5:00 PM on the BFUHS online counselling portal. If you already registered in Round 1, you do not register again — you only submit willingness.

All eligible candidates, whether new or already registered, must submit willingness to participate in Round 2 between 3–7 September 2026 by 5:00 PM. Willingness is mandatory. Without it, you will not be considered for allotment, even if you are eligible. When you submit willingness, you must also deposit the required security amount. The portal will guide you through payment.

**Special note for candidates who got a Round 1 seat:** If you were allotted a seat in Round 1 and joined the college, you must still submit willingness for Round 2 if you want to participate. Your Round 1 security deposit will be adjusted, and you will pay only the remaining tuition fee (not a fresh deposit).

Merit List, Objections, and How Merit Is Calculated

After registration and willingness submission close, BFUHS will prepare a provisional merit list based on your NEET UG 2026 score and category. This list will be displayed on 8 September 2026. Check it carefully to ensure your name, score, category, and rank are correct.

If you find an error — for example, your category is wrong, your score is incorrect, or your name is misspelled — you must lodge an objection. Objections must be submitted in person at the Admission Branch, BFUHS, Faridkot, on 9 September 2026 by 3:00 PM. Bring all relevant documents (category certificate, NEET admit card, etc.). Email objections will not be accepted. After objections are considered, a revised merit list will be displayed on 9 September 2026.

Merit is based on your NEET UG 2026 score. Candidates are ranked from highest to lowest score within each category (General, SC, BC, etc.). Your rank determines your position in the queue for seat allotment.

Filling Your Choices: The Most Critical Step

After the merit list is finalized, you must fill your course, college, quota, and category preferences online between 8–10 September 2026 by 5:00 PM. This is the most important step in the entire counselling process. Your choices determine which seat you get.

**Important:** Choices submitted in Round 1 are null and void. You must fill fresh choices for Round 2. Do not assume your Round 1 choices will carry forward — they will not.

When filling choices, you can select multiple colleges and courses in order of preference. For example, you might choose: (1) MBBS at Government Medical College A, (2) MBBS at Government Medical College B, (3) BDS at Private College C, and so on. The allotment algorithm will match your merit rank with available seats in the order of your preferences.

**Critical trap:** Choices are locked automatically after 5:00 PM on 10 September 2026. Once locked, you cannot modify them. BFUHS will not accept any requests to change choices after the deadline. So fill your choices carefully and well before the deadline — do not wait until the last hour.

You can also select which quota (General, SC, BC, NRI, Sports, Minority) and category you want to apply under. Be strategic: if you are eligible for multiple quotas, you can list them in order of preference.

Seat Allotment: How Seats Are Assigned

After the choice-filling deadline, BFUHS will process seat allotment on 11–12 September 2026. The allotment algorithm matches your merit rank with available seats based on your choices and applicable counselling rules. The provisional allotment result will be displayed on 12 September 2026.

When you check the result, you will see which college and course you have been allotted, if any. If you are allotted a seat, note the college name, course, and reporting deadline. If you are not allotted a seat, you can still participate in Round 3 (if it happens), but you must register fresh and pay a new security deposit.

If you believe there is an error in the allotment — for example, you were allotted a course you did not choose, or your category is wrong — you can lodge an objection in person on 14 September 2026 by 4:00 PM at the Admission Branch with relevant documents. Email objections will not be accepted. After objections are considered, a revised allotment will be displayed on 15 September 2026.

Reporting to Your Allotted College: The Final Step

If you are allotted a seat in Round 2, you must report to your allotted college between 16–18 September 2026 by 5:00 PM. 'Reporting' means visiting the college in person, completing admission formalities, and joining the course. You must also pay the balance tuition fee through the BFUHS payment gateway on the university website before or at the time of reporting.

**What is 'balance fee'?** It is the remaining tuition fee after your security deposit is adjusted. For example, if the total tuition fee is ₹15,000 and you paid a ₹10,000 security deposit in Round 1, your balance fee is ₹5,000. You must pay this balance fee to complete your admission.

**Critical trap:** If you do not report by 5:00 PM on 18 September 2026, your seat is forfeited. Your security deposit is not refunded. You cannot participate in Round 3 unless you register fresh and pay a new deposit. So mark this deadline in red and plan to report well before the deadline.

**Special note for Minority Quota candidates:** If you applied under the Minority Quota, you must report to your allotted Minority Institution on 7 September 2026 for verification of your eligibility before the main reporting deadline.

Special Categories: NRI, Sports, and Minority Quota

**NRI (Non-Resident Indian) Candidates:** If you are applying under the NRI Quota, you must submit a physical application form for the NRI Quota between 7–8 September 2026. The application forms (Eligibility Certificate form and Admission Application form) are available separately on the BFUHS website. Download them, fill them out, and submit them in person at the Admission Branch. Do not miss this deadline — NRI applications submitted after 8 September will not be accepted.

**Sports Category Candidates:** If you are applying under the Sports Category, you must submit two printed copies of your online application form, along with the Sports Gradation Certificate issued by the Director, Sports, Punjab, and self-attested copies of all supporting documents. Submit these in person at the Admission Branch on 7 September 2026 only. This is a strict deadline. If you applied in Round 1 but did not submit the hard copies, you can submit them on 7 September 2026 for Round 2. **Minority Quota Candidates:** If you applied under the Minority Quota, you must report to your allotted Minority Institution on 7 September 2026 for verification of your eligibility. What Happens If You Do Not Join Your Round 2 Seat?

If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 but do not report to the college by 5:00 PM on 18 September 2026, your seat is forfeited. Your security deposit is not refunded. You lose the money.

However, you can still participate in Round 3 (if it happens). But to do so, you must register fresh and pay a new security deposit. Your Round 2 deposit is gone. This is why it is critical to report by the deadline if you want to continue in the counselling process.

**Exception:** If you join your Round 2 seat but then want to resign (leave the seat), you can do so within the stipulated time frame. However, your security deposit will still be forfeited. You can then participate in Round 3 with a fresh registration and new deposit.

Common Mistakes That Get Your Application Rejected

**Mistake 1: Not submitting willingness by the deadline.** Willingness is mandatory. If you do not submit it by 7 September 2026 at 5:00 PM, you will not be considered for allotment, even if you are eligible. There is no exception.

**Mistake 2: Filling choices after the deadline.** Choices must be filled by 10 September 2026 at 5:00 PM. After this, the portal locks automatically. You cannot change your choices. If you do not fill choices, you will not be allotted a seat.

**Mistake 3: Not reporting by the deadline.** If you are allotted a seat but do not report by 18 September 2026 at 5:00 PM, your seat is forfeited and your deposit is not refunded. There is no grace period.

**Mistake 4: Submitting objections by email.** Objections to the merit list or allotment must be submitted in person at the Admission Branch. Email objections will not be accepted. If you have an objection, you must visit the branch in person with documents.

**Mistake 5: Missing the Sports or NRI submission deadline.** If you are applying under Sports or NRI quota, you must submit physical documents by the specified date (7–8 September for NRI, 7 September only for Sports). If you miss this, your candidature will not be considered under that quota.

Understanding Seat Conversion and Round 3

After Round 2, if there are still vacant seats in certain quotas (for example, NRI or reserved category seats), these seats may be converted to open merit seats in Round 3. This means a candidate from the General category can be allotted a seat that was originally reserved for another category, if all candidates in that reserved category have been exhausted.

If you do not join your Round 2 seat and want to participate in Round 3, you must register fresh and pay a new security deposit. Your Round 2 deposit is forfeited. The same rules apply: you must fill fresh choices, report by the deadline, and pay the balance fee.
