Odisha stray vacancy round allotted candidates must report on 22 Oct 2026 at OJEE office with original documents, fees, and bond. Non-reporting cancels allotment permanently.

MedAdmit News Desk 20 Oct 2026 8 min read

Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) has released the schedule and instructions for the Stray Vacancy Round provisional admission for MBBS and BDS candidates. All candidates who received an allotment in this round must report in person at the OJEE office in Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar on 22 October 2026 between specific time slots (depending on their college and stream) with all original documents, certificates, bonds, and fees. This is a critical step—if you do not report on the scheduled date and time, your allotment will be cancelled permanently and you will be removed from the entire counselling process with no chance of further consideration. After reporting, OJEE will conduct an upgradation process for any remaining vacant seats, and a physical spot round may follow if seats are still unfilled.

If you are allotted in the stray vacancy round, you must report in person at OJEE office on 22 October 2026 at your assigned time slot with all original documents and fees—failure to report cancels your allotment permanently.

What is the Stray Vacancy Round?

The Stray Vacancy Round is the final counselling round in Odisha's NEET UG 2026 admission process. It is conducted to fill any MBBS and BDS seats that remain vacant after the main counselling rounds. Candidates who did not get an allotment in earlier rounds but filled their choices in the stray vacancy round are eligible for this round.

This round is your last opportunity to secure a medical or dental seat in Odisha. If you have received an allotment letter for the stray vacancy round, it means a seat has been reserved for you at one of the participating colleges. However, this allotment is provisional—it becomes final only when you report in person at the OJEE office with all required documents and complete the admission formalities.

Reporting Schedule: Date, Time & Venue

All allotted candidates must report at the OJEE office located at Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar on 22 October 2026. The reporting is divided into four time slots based on your allotted college and stream. You must arrive during your assigned time slot—arriving late or on a different date will result in your allotment being cancelled.

The schedule is strictly organized by college and stream to manage the large number of candidates. Check your allotment letter to find which time slot applies to you. NRI category candidates (both MBBS and BDS) have a separate slot from 12:00 noon to 12:30 PM.

Critical Trap: Non-Reporting Cancels Your Allotment Permanently

This is the most important rule to understand: if you do not report at the OJEE office on 22 October 2026 during your assigned time slot, your allotment will be cancelled immediately. You will be treated as a non-reported candidate and marked as 'not interested for admission.' Once this happens, you are permanently removed from the entire counselling process.

There is no second chance, no grace period, and no way to recover your seat after the reporting deadline. Even if you report one day late or at a different time slot, your allotment will be cancelled. This rule applies to all candidates, regardless of the reason for missing the deadline. If you have any doubt about your time slot or cannot make it on 22 October, contact OJEE immediately before the deadline.

  • Missing your reporting slot = allotment cancelled permanently
  • You will be removed from all future counselling rounds
  • No exceptions, no grace period, no appeals after the deadline
  • Report only during your assigned time slot on 22 October 2026

Freeze or Float Option: What You Must Do Before Reporting

Before you report at the OJEE office, you must exercise the 'Freeze' or 'Float' option using your login ID on the OJEE portal and complete the payment process. This step is mandatory for all allotted candidates. The Freeze or Float option you choose will be considered only if an upgradation process happens after reporting.

Freeze means you are satisfied with your current allotment and do not want to participate in any upgradation. Float means you are willing to move to a better college or course if one becomes available during the upgradation process. Choose based on your preference, but do not skip this step—it is a prerequisite for completing your admission.

  • Log in to your OJEE portal using your credentials
  • Select either 'Freeze' (stay with current allotment) or 'Float' (open to upgradation)
  • Complete the payment process online
  • This must be done before you report on 22 October 2026

Documents Required: Complete Checklist

You must bring all documents in original form along with one complete set of photocopies. The OJEE office will verify your originals and keep the photocopies on file. Missing even one required document can delay your admission or result in rejection. Prepare your documents well in advance and double-check against this list before you leave for the OJEE office.

The most critical documents are your Nativity Certificate and CLC (Character and Conduct Certificate). These must be submitted in original to receive your provisional admission letter. Your bond (if applicable based on your category or college type) must also be brought in original. All mark sheets and certificates from your 10th, 12th, and graduation (if applicable) must be present.

  • NEET admit card and score card
  • Allotment letter from OJEE
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Nativity Certificate (original) — required for provisional admission
  • CLC (Character and Conduct Certificate) in original — required for provisional admission
  • Bond (if applicable, as per guidelines or government notification)
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Income certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • Medical fitness certificate (if required)
  • One complete set of photocopies of all documents
  • Demand draft or proof of online fee payment

Admission Fees: How Much to Pay and How to Pay

The admission fee you must pay depends on whether your allotted college is a government or private institution. Government colleges charge a fixed annual fee of Rs. 37,950, while private colleges charge varying amounts based on the institution and course. NRI candidates in private colleges must pay four times the standard fee. You must pay this fee either online through your OJEE login or by demand draft before or at the time of reporting.

If you choose to pay by demand draft, it must be drawn in favour of 'OJEE' from any Nationalised bank and made payable at Bhubaneswar. Write your name and NEET application number on the back of the draft. Bring the original draft to the OJEE office on your reporting date. If you pay online, bring proof of payment. Additionally, all admitted candidates must pay Rs. 3,500 towards University Registration fees at their respective colleges during admission.

  • Government Medical/Dental Colleges: Rs. 37,950 per annum
  • HiTech MCH Bhubaneswar (MBBS): Rs. 11,56,000 per annum

If better seats become available (a different college or course), you may be upgraded to one of these seats.

Your Freeze or Float choice determines whether you participate in upgradation. If you chose Float, you are eligible for upgradation. If you chose Freeze, you will not be upgraded. If you are upgraded to a different college or course, you must download a fresh admission letter from your OJEE login and report to your new college on the date and time specified in that letter. If you are not upgraded, you will proceed to your originally allotted college.

  • Upgradation is based on reported candidates and candidates with unfilled choices
  • Your Freeze/Float option determines your eligibility for upgradation
  • If upgraded, download your new admission letter from your login
  • Report to your new college on the date and time in the new admission letter
  • If not upgraded, proceed to your originally allotted college

Physical Spot Round: If Seats Remain Vacant After Upgradation

If seats are still vacant after the upgradation process, OJEE may conduct a physical spot round counselling on 24 October 2026 at the OJEE Cell, Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar. This is a final attempt to fill remaining seats and to meet the Medical Council of India (MCI) timeline for admission. The detailed schedule for the spot round, if conducted, will be notified by OJEE in due course.

The spot round is open to all eligible candidates, including those who did not participate in earlier rounds. If you are interested in participating in the spot round, watch the OJEE website regularly for the announcement and detailed instructions.

  • Spot round may be conducted on 24 October 2026 if seats remain vacant
  • Venue: OJEE Cell, Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar
  • Detailed schedule will be notified separately
  • Watch OJEE website for updates

No Withdrawal or Resignation After Stray Vacancy Round

Once you complete provisional admission in the stray vacancy round, you cannot withdraw or resign from your seat. This is a final, binding commitment. If you accept admission in this round, you are committing to join the college and pursue the course. There is no option to back out later.

This rule is strict and applies to all candidates. If you have any doubts about your choice of college or course, resolve them before you report on 22 October 2026. Once you submit your documents and fees, you are locked into your admission.

  • No withdrawal allowed after stray vacancy round provisional admission
  • No resignation allowed after stray vacancy round provisional admission
  • This is a final, binding commitment
  • Decide carefully before reporting on 22 October 2026

Refunds: When and How You Get Money Back

If you are eligible for a refund (for example, if you shift from a private college to a government college in a later round), the refund will be processed only after the final admission dates are completed. OJEE will process the refund and pay it to you according to government procedure. Do not expect immediate refunds—the process takes time after all admissions are finalized.

Refunds are rare in the stray vacancy round because this is the final round. However, if circumstances change and you become eligible for a refund, OJEE will handle it through official channels.

  • Refunds processed only after final admission dates
  • Refund applies only to students shifting from private to government colleges in different rounds
  • OJEE processes refunds as per government procedure
  • Refunds are not immediate—allow time after final admissions

Important: Keep Checking OJEE Website for Updates

OJEE regularly updates its website with new information, schedule changes, and clarifications. The stray vacancy round is the final round, and any changes to the schedule or process will be announced on the OJEE website. It is your responsibility to check the website regularly and stay informed.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I don't report on 22 October 2026?

If you do not report at the OJEE office during your assigned time slot on 22 October 2026, your allotment will be cancelled immediately. You will be treated as a non-reported candidate and marked as 'not interested for admission.' You will be permanently removed from the entire counselling process and will not be considered for any further counselling rounds. There is no grace period, no second chance, and no way to recover your seat.

Can I report at a different time slot than the one assigned to me?

No. You must report during your assigned time slot only. If you report at a different time slot or on a different date, your allotment will be cancelled. Each time slot is strictly for a specific college and stream. Check your allotment letter to find your exact time slot and arrive within that window.

What is the difference between Freeze and Float options?

Freeze means you are satisfied with your current allotment and do not want to participate in any upgradation process—you will stay with your allotted college and course. Float means you are willing to move to a better college or course if one becomes available during the upgradation process. You must choose one of these options on the OJEE portal before reporting on 22 October 2026.

What documents must I bring in original, and what can be photocopies?

Nativity Certificate and CLC (Character and Conduct Certificate) must be in original—these are mandatory for receiving your provisional admission letter. Your bond (if applicable) must also be in original. All other documents (mark sheets, certificates, NEET admit card, allotment letter, caste certificate, income certificate, etc.) should be brought in original, and you must also bring one complete set of photocopies of all documents. The OJEE office will verify the originals and keep the photocopies.

How much admission fee do I need to pay, and how do I pay it?

The fee depends on your allotted college. Government colleges charge Rs. 37,950 per annum. Private colleges charge between Rs. 3,00,000 and Rs. 11,56,000 per annum depending on the institution. NRI candidates in private colleges pay four times these amounts. You can pay online through your OJEE login or by demand draft (drawn in favour of 'OJEE' from a Nationalised bank, payable at Bhubaneswar). Additionally, you must pay Rs. 3,500 towards University Registration fees at your college during admission.

Can I come with both my parents to the OJEE office, or only one?

You can come alone or with only one of your guardians. You cannot bring both parents or multiple people. Only you and one guardian (if you choose to bring one) are allowed to complete the admission formalities at the OJEE office.

What happens if I am upgraded to a different college after reporting?

If you chose the Float option and are upgraded to a different college or course, you must download a fresh admission letter from your OJEE login. This new letter will specify the date and time you must report to your new college. You will then report to your new college instead of your originally allotted college. If you are not upgraded, you proceed to your originally allotted college as planned.

Can I withdraw or resign from my seat after completing provisional admission?

No. Once you complete provisional admission in the stray vacancy round, you cannot withdraw or resign from your seat. This is a final, binding commitment. If you have any doubts about your choice, resolve them before you report on 22 October 2026.

What is the physical spot round, and when will it happen?

If seats remain vacant after the upgradation process, OJEE may conduct a physical spot round counselling on 24 October 2026 at the OJEE Cell, Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar. This is a final attempt to fill remaining seats. The detailed schedule will be notified separately on the OJEE website if the spot round is conducted.

When will I get a refund if I am eligible for one?

Refunds are processed only after the final admission dates are completed. If you are eligible for a refund (for example, if you shift from a private college to a government college in a later round), OJEE will process it according to government procedure. Refunds are not immediate—allow time after all admissions are finalized.

What should I do if I cannot make it to the OJEE office on 22 October 2026?

Contact OJEE immediately before 22 October 2026. However, be aware that missing your reporting slot will result in your allotment being cancelled permanently. There is no grace period or alternative date. If you have a genuine emergency, contact OJEE as soon as possible to explore any possible options, but do not expect an extension.

Where exactly is the OJEE office, and how do I reach it?

The OJEE office is located at Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar. All reporting for the stray vacancy round must be done at this office on 22 October 2026. Plan your travel in advance to ensure you arrive on time during your assigned time slot. Do not rely on last-minute travel arrangements.

If you are allotted in the stray vacancy round, your next critical action is to exercise the Freeze or Float option on the OJEE portal and complete the payment process immediately. Then, on 22 October 2026, report in person at the OJEE office at Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar during your assigned time slot with all original documents, photocopies, and your admission fee. Bring your Nativity Certificate and CLC in original—these are mandatory. Do not miss your reporting slot under any circumstances; missing it will cancel your allotment permanently.
