What This Schedule Covers

This is the official timeline for Madhya Pradesh's First Round of NEET PG 2026 counselling. It applies to all candidates who have qualified NEET PG 2026 and wish to pursue MD, MS, PG Diploma, or DNB courses in Madhya Pradesh government and private medical colleges. The schedule is tentative, meaning dates may shift if the authority decides to do so — always verify on the official DME Madhya Pradesh portal (dme.mponline.gov.in) before taking any action.

The First Round is the initial allocation of seats. If you do not get a seat in this round, or if you wish to upgrade to a better college or course after the First Round, subsequent rounds will follow (though their dates are not yet published). This schedule is your starting point.

MP NEET PG 2026 First Round Counselling Schedule

Registration: 10–20 October (Your First Step)

Registration is the first and most critical step. You must create your profile and register on the official portal between 10 October 2026 and 20 October 2026 at 12:00 midnight. Do not wait until the last day — the portal may experience heavy traffic, and you do not want to miss the deadline.

To register, you will need to log in to the candidate portal using your NEET PG 2026 credentials (usually your roll number and password). Once logged in, you can create your profile, fill in your details, and submit your registration. The portal allows you to edit your profile and registration information during this 11-day window, so if you make a mistake, you can correct it before the deadline.

If you do not register by 20 October 2026 at midnight, you will not appear on the merit list and cannot participate in choice filling or allotment. This is non-negotiable.

  • Log in using your NEET PG 2026 credentials
  • Create and complete your profile
  • Submit your registration
  • You can edit your profile until 20 Oct midnight
  • Missing this deadline means no seat in this round

Merit List and Vacancy Publication: 21 October

On 21 October 2026, the DME will publish two critical documents: the Merit List of all registered candidates and the list of available Vacancies (seats) in all colleges and courses.

The Merit List shows your rank among all registered candidates. Your rank determines the order in which you will be offered seats during choice filling. The Vacancy list shows exactly how many seats are available in each college, course (MD/MS/DNB/PG Diploma), and category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, etc.). Study both lists carefully to understand your chances and plan your choices.

On 22 October, the authority invites objections against the vacancy list (for example, if you believe a seat count is wrong). On 23 October, objections are disposed of and the Final Vacancies list is published. This is the list you will use when filling your choices.

  • Merit list published 21 Oct — check your rank
  • Vacancy list published 21 Oct — see available seats
  • Objections invited 22 Oct (if you spot an error)
  • Final vacancies published 23 Oct — use this for choice filling

Choice Filling: 24–27 October (Critical — Plan Ahead)

Choice filling runs from 24 October 2026 to 27 October 2026 at 12:00 midnight. This is when you tell the authority which colleges and courses you want, in order of preference. The system will allocate you a seat based on your rank and your choices.

See My Colleges

You can fill as many choices as you wish — there is no limit. The strategy is to list colleges and courses in order of your true preference, starting with your first choice (the one you most want) and going down. The system will offer you the highest-ranked choice for which you are eligible and for which a seat is available when your turn comes.

The portal allows you to edit your choices during this 4-day window. If you change your mind, you can log in and modify your list. However, once you lock your choices (by clicking the 'lock' button), you cannot edit them further. The notice emphasizes: if you edit your choices through the candidate login, you must lock them using the OTP (one-time password) sent to your registered mobile or email. If you do not lock your edited choices, the system will use your previously locked choices for allotment. This is a common trap — do not fall into it.

On 27 October at midnight, the choice-filling window closes. After that, no further edits are allowed.

  • Fill choices 24–27 Oct (12:00 midnight deadline)
  • List colleges and courses in order of preference
  • No limit on number of choices
  • You can edit choices during the window
  • ⚠️ If you edit choices, you MUST lock them using OTP, or old choices will be used
  • After 27 Oct midnight, no edits allowed

Allotment Result: 29 October

On 29 October 2026, the DME will publish the First Round Allotment Result. This is the seat you have been offered based on your rank, your choices, and seat availability. Log in to the portal and check your allotment immediately. The result will show the college, course, and category under which you have been allotted.

If you have been allotted a seat, you must report to the college in person by 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM) to complete admission. If you do not report within this window, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate.

If you have not been allotted a seat in the First Round, do not panic. Subsequent rounds will be held (dates to be announced). You will get another chance to fill choices and compete for remaining seats.

  • Allotment result published 29 Oct
  • Check your allotted college, course, and category
  • If allotted, you must report to college by 11 Nov (06:00 PM)
  • If not allotted, wait for subsequent rounds

Reporting to College: 30 October–11 November (Mandatory)

If you have been allotted a seat, you must report to your allotted college in person between 30 October 2026 and 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM). This is not optional. Reporting means you must physically go to the college with all required documents for verification and complete the admission process.

During reporting, you will undergo document verification (the college will check your MBBS degree, NEET PG scorecard, category certificate, and other documents). You will also be asked to exercise your option for upgradation. Upgradation means: if you wish to try for a better college or course in a subsequent round, you can choose YES; if you want to lock in your current seat and not participate in further rounds, you can choose NO. The notice states that exercising the upgradation option is mandatory — you must make a choice.

After document verification and upgradation choice, you will complete your admission at the college. The college will issue you an admission letter and other documents. If you do not report by 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM), your seat will be cancelled.

  • Report in person to your allotted college
  • Dates: 30 Oct to 11 Nov 2026 (by 06:00 PM)
  • Bring all original documents for verification
  • ⚠️ You MUST exercise upgradation option (YES or NO) — it is mandatory
  • Complete admission formalities at the college
  • Missing the deadline = seat cancellation

Upgradation Option: What It Means and Why It Matters

The notice makes clear that all candidates must exercise an upgradation option at the time of admission at the college. This is a YES/NO choice, and it is mandatory — you cannot skip it.

If you choose YES for upgradation, you are saying: 'I accept this seat, but I want to participate in subsequent counselling rounds. If a better seat becomes available in a later round, I am willing to move.' If you choose NO, you are saying: 'I accept this seat and do not want to participate in further rounds. Lock me in here.'

The notice also states that candidates can edit their upgradation option at their candidate login until 11 November 2026 (up to 11:59 PM). This means even after you report to the college and make your initial choice, you have until 11:59 PM on 11 November to change your mind and edit your upgradation option online. However, once 11:59 PM on 11 November passes, your choice is final.

Think carefully about this. If you are happy with your allotted seat and college, choose NO. If you believe you might get a better seat in a later round and are willing to move, choose YES. But remember: if you choose YES and a better seat is offered in a later round, you will have to move, which may involve travel and logistical hassle.

  • Upgradation option is mandatory — you must choose YES or NO
  • YES = willing to move to a better seat in later rounds
  • NO = lock in this seat, no further rounds
  • You can edit your choice until 11 Nov 2026 (11:59 PM) online
  • After 11:59 PM on 11 Nov, your choice is final

Online Resignation/Cancellation of Admission

Between 30 October 2026 and 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM), you can also resign from your allotted seat online at the college level. This means you can cancel your admission if you change your mind or if you have received a better offer elsewhere.

The notice specifies that a 'seat leaving bond on resignation' is NOT APPLICABLE. This means if you resign, you do not have to pay any penalty or bond amount — you can simply walk away. However, once you resign, your seat will be offered to the next candidate, and you will not be able to reclaim it.

Resignation is different from choosing NO for upgradation. If you resign, you are out of the counselling process entirely. If you choose NO for upgradation, you are locked into your current seat but remain in the system.

  • You can resign online between 30 Oct and 11 Nov (06:00 PM)
  • No seat-leaving bond or penalty applies
  • Your seat will be offered to the next candidate
  • Resignation is final — you cannot reclaim the seat

Documents You Will Need at College Reporting

The notice does not provide a detailed list of documents required at the time of college reporting. However, based on standard NEET PG counselling practice in Madhya Pradesh, you should bring the following originals and photocopies:

Original documents typically include: MBBS degree certificate, NEET PG 2026 admit card and scorecard, category certificate (if applicable — SC/ST/OBC/EWS), domicile certificate, identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, passport), and any other documents specified in the college's admission prospectus. Check the college's website or the DME portal for the exact list before you report. Bringing incomplete documents can delay your admission or result in rejection.

The notice emphasizes that document verification is mandatory during reporting. The college will cross-check your documents against the information you provided during registration. Any discrepancy can lead to rejection of your candidacy.

  • MBBS degree certificate (original + photocopy)
  • NEET PG 2026 admit card and scorecard (original + photocopy)
  • Category certificate if applicable (original + photocopy)
  • Domicile certificate (original + photocopy)
  • Identity proof — Aadhaar, PAN, or passport (original + photocopy)
  • Check the college's admission prospectus for the complete list
  • Bring all documents — incomplete documentation can lead to rejection

Common Mistakes That Get Applications Rejected

Based on the notice and standard counselling practice, here are the traps to avoid:

1. **Missing the registration deadline (20 Oct midnight)**: If you do not register by this date, you will not appear on the merit list and cannot participate in counselling. There is no extension or grace period.

2. **Editing choices but not locking them with OTP**: The notice explicitly warns: if you edit your choices through the candidate login, you must lock them using the OTP. If you do not lock, the system will use your previously locked choices. Many candidates edit their choices and forget to lock, resulting in the wrong choices being used for allotment.

3. **Not exercising the upgradation option**: The notice states this is mandatory. If you do not make a choice (YES or NO) at the time of college reporting, your admission may be rejected or delayed.

4. **Missing the college reporting deadline (11 Nov 06:00 PM)**: If you do not report to your allotted college by this date and time, your seat will be cancelled. There is no extension.

5. **Bringing incomplete documents to college**: Document verification is mandatory. If you do not bring all required originals and photocopies, the college may reject your admission.

6. **Providing incorrect information during registration**: Any discrepancy between your registration details and your documents can lead to rejection. Double-check all information before submitting.

  • ⚠️ Register by 20 Oct midnight or you are out
  • ⚠️ Edit choices? Lock them with OTP or old choices will be used
  • ⚠️ Upgradation option is mandatory — choose YES or NO
  • ⚠️ Report to college by 11 Nov 06:00 PM or lose your seat
  • ⚠️ Bring all original documents — incomplete docs = rejection
  • ⚠️ Ensure all registration details match your documents exactly

Frequently asked questions

What is the registration deadline, and what happens if I miss it?

Registration closes on 20 October 2026 at 12:00 midnight. If you do not register by this date and time, you will not appear on the merit list and cannot participate in choice filling or allotment. There is no extension or grace period. Register as early as possible to avoid last-minute portal issues.

I edited my choices but forgot to lock them with OTP. Will my old choices be used?

Yes. The notice explicitly states: if you edit your choices through the candidate login, you must lock them using the OTP. If you do not lock your edited choices, the system will use your previously locked choices for allotment. This is a critical trap — always lock your choices after editing.

What does the upgradation option mean, and is it mandatory?

The upgradation option is mandatory. You must choose YES or NO at the time of college reporting. YES means you accept this seat but are willing to move to a better seat in later rounds. NO means you lock in this seat and do not want to participate in further rounds. You can edit your choice online until 11 November 2026 (11:59 PM), but after that, it is final.

What is the college reporting deadline, and what happens if I miss it?

You must report to your allotted college in person between 30 October 2026 and 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM). If you do not report by this date and time, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate. There is no extension.

Can I resign from my allotted seat, and will I have to pay a penalty?

Yes, you can resign online between 30 October and 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM). The notice states that a 'seat leaving bond on resignation' is NOT APPLICABLE, meaning you do not have to pay any penalty. However, once you resign, your seat will be offered to the next candidate, and you cannot reclaim it.

When will the merit list and vacancy list be published?

Both the Merit List and Vacancy List will be published on 21 October 2026. The Merit List shows your rank among all registered candidates. The Vacancy List shows how many seats are available in each college, course, and category. Study both lists carefully to plan your choices.

How long do I have to fill my choices, and can I edit them?

Choice filling runs from 24 October 2026 to 27 October 2026 (12:00 midnight) — a 4-day window. You can fill as many choices as you wish and edit them during this period. However, once you lock your choices (using OTP), you cannot edit them further. After 27 October at midnight, the window closes and no edits are allowed.

What documents do I need to bring when I report to the college?

The notice does not provide a detailed list, but you should bring originals and photocopies of: MBBS degree certificate, NEET PG 2026 admit card and scorecard, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, or passport). Check your allotted college's admission prospectus for the complete list before reporting. Incomplete documentation can lead to rejection.

What happens if I do not get a seat in the First Round?

If you are not allotted a seat in the First Round, you will get another chance in subsequent rounds (dates to be announced). You will be able to fill choices again and compete for remaining seats. Do not panic — the First Round is just the beginning.

Is this schedule final, or can dates change?

The notice states that this is a 'tentative' schedule, meaning dates may change at the authority's discretion. Always check the official DME Madhya Pradesh portal (dme.mponline.gov.in) regularly for any updates or changes before taking any action.

What is the difference between resigning and choosing NO for upgradation?

If you resign, you cancel your admission entirely and are out of the counselling process. Your seat is offered to the next candidate, and you cannot reclaim it. If you choose NO for upgradation, you lock in your current seat and do not participate in further rounds, but you remain admitted to that college. Choose NO if you are happy with your seat; resign only if you want to exit the process entirely.

Can I edit my upgradation option after I report to the college?

Yes. The notice states that candidates can edit their upgradation option at their candidate login until 11 November 2026 (up to 11:59 PM). So even after you report to the college and make your initial choice, you have until 11:59 PM on 11 November to change your mind online. After that, your choice is final.

Your immediate action: mark all dates in your calendar, starting with registration (10–20 Oct) and choice filling (24–27 Oct). Register on the DME portal (dme.mponline.gov.in) as soon as possible — do not wait until the last day. On 21 October, study the merit list and vacancy list carefully to plan your choices. Fill your choices between 24–27 October, lock them with OTP, and check your allotment on 29 October. If allotted, report to your college by 11 November 2026 (06:00 PM) with all required documents. Remember: this is a tentative schedule — check the official portal regularly for any updates.
