What 'FLOAT' means and why this notice matters
In MCC counselling, after each round of seat allotment, a candidate who has been allotted a seat gets two choices: FREEZE or FLOAT.
FREEZE means you accept the allotted seat as final for this round and must physically report to that institute to confirm your admission.
FLOAT means you accept the seat provisionally but want to remain in the running to get a better seat in the next round of counselling. You do not have to physically report right away, but you still have to complete online document upload and verification to keep the current seat safely reserved in case you do not get upgraded.

The single biggest trap: missed re-upload after discrepancy
The notice is explicit and unforgiving on one point: if an institute flags a discrepancy in your uploaded documents (Step 5) and you do not re-upload the corrected documents by 11:59 PM on 31.08.2026 (Step 6), your allotted seat will be cancelled outright.
This gives candidates a very narrow window — documents are checked by institutes between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, and the corrected version has to go back up before midnight the same day. There is no mention of any further extension or second chance beyond this cut-off.
Practically, this means a FLOAT candidate cannot afford to be away from internet access or their MCC login on 31 August evening. Keep scanned copies of all required documents ready in advance, in the correct format and size the portal expects, so any correction can be uploaded within minutes of a query being raised.
What happens after documents are verified
Once the discrepancy window closes at midnight on 31 August, the ball moves to the institute. Each institute must confirm or cancel the admission of every allotted FLOAT candidate by 11:00 AM on 1 September 2026.
Candidates are then advised to log into their MCC account after 12:30 PM on 1 September 2026 to check their final admission status — whether the seat has been confirmed or cancelled.
Since FLOAT candidates are still in line for a possible upgrade in a later round, this confirmed/cancelled status for Round-1 is what determines whether they currently hold a seat while waiting to see if they move up.
Who this notice does NOT cover
This schedule is only for candidates who chose FLOAT in Round-1. Candidates who chose FREEZE follow a separate, already-known process — their key deadline here is the last date of physical reporting, which is 5:00 PM on 31.08.2026 (Step 1 in the table above), and they are not part of the document-upload cycle described for FLOAT candidates.
