MCC NEET PG 2026 Round 3: NRI Eligible Candidates List & Allotment Priority

MCC releases provisional list of 1,000+ NRI-eligible candidates for NEET-PG 2026 Round 3. Two priority tiers determine seat allotment. Candidates must produce original NRI proof documents at reporting or risk seat cancellation.

MedAdmit News Desk 14 Oct 2026 8 min read

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the provisional list of candidates found eligible to fill NRI (Non-Resident Indian) category seats in NEET-PG 2026 Round 3 counselling. This list follows document scrutiny by an MCC committee and includes over 1,000 candidates across two priority tiers. The allotment will proceed sequentially, first filling Priority 1 seats (NRI candidates and children of NRIs), then Priority 2 seats (first- and second-degree relatives of NRI wards), subject to seat availability. This is a critical milestone: if your roll number appears on either Annexure I or II, you are provisionally eligible to compete for NRI seats in Round 3. However, the notice carries a major warning—all original documents proving NRI status and relationships must be produced at the time of reporting at your allotted college, or your seat will be cancelled.

Over 1,000 candidates have been provisionally approved as NRI-eligible for NEET-PG 2026 Round 3, divided into two priority tiers, but admission is conditional on producing original NRI proof documents at the time of reporting.

What This Notice Means for You

This notice is a provisional eligibility declaration, not a seat allotment. It means the MCC has reviewed your submitted documents and found you eligible to compete for NRI category seats in Round 3 of NEET-PG 2026 counselling. Your name appears in one of two annexures (Annexure I or Annexure II), each representing a different priority tier in the allotment process.

Being on this list does NOT guarantee you a seat. It means you are now eligible to fill NRI choices during the choice-filling window for Round 3. Your actual seat allotment will depend on your rank, your choices, and seat availability in your preferred colleges and specialties. The allotment algorithm will process Priority 1 candidates first; only if Priority 1 seats remain unfilled will Priority 2 candidates be considered.

The Two Priority Tiers: Who Gets Seats First

The NRI seat allotment operates on a strict two-tier priority system. Understanding which tier you fall into is essential because it directly affects your chances of getting a seat.

**Priority 1 (Annexure I):** This tier includes two categories: (1) NRI candidates themselves—doctors who hold NRI status—and (2) children of NRIs. If you are listed in Annexure I, you have the highest priority. The allotment algorithm will process all Priority 1 candidates' choices first, filling seats in order of merit rank within this tier. Only after all Priority 1 candidates have been processed will Priority 2 candidates be considered.

**Priority 2 (Annexure II):** This tier includes first-degree relatives of NRI wards (such as spouse, children, parents, or siblings) and second-degree relatives (such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins). If you are in Annexure II, you will be considered for allotment only if NRI seats remain after Priority 1 processing is complete. This is a significant disadvantage in a competitive round.

  • Priority 1: NRI candidates and children of NRIs (Annexure I)
  • Priority 2: First- and second-degree relatives of NRI wards (Annexure II)
  • Allotment proceeds sequentially—Priority 1 first, then Priority 2, subject to seat availability

How to Check If Your Name Is on the List

The notice includes two complete annexures listing all eligible candidates by roll number and name. Annexure I contains approximately 150 Priority 1 candidates; Annexure II contains approximately 850 Priority 2 candidates. To verify your eligibility, search for your NEET-PG roll number in the tables provided.

If your roll number appears in Annexure I, you are Priority 1. If it appears in Annexure II, you are Priority 2. If your roll number does not appear in either annexure, you are not provisionally eligible for NRI seat allotment in Round 3 and should not attempt to fill NRI choices. Attempting to claim NRI status without being on this list will result in rejection of your application.

  • Search for your NEET-PG roll number in Annexure I (Priority 1) or Annexure II (Priority 2)
  • If found in Annexure I: you are Priority 1 (highest priority)
  • If found in Annexure II: you are Priority 2 (lower priority)
  • If not found: you are not eligible for NRI seats in Round 3

The Critical Document Requirement: Original Proof at Reporting

This is the most important trap in this notice. Being on the eligible list is provisional only. Your admission is conditional on producing original documents at the time of reporting at your allotted college. The notice explicitly states: 'Candidates are advised to ensure that all required original documents (proof of NRI status, relationship certificates, etc.) are submitted correctly at the time of reporting at the allotted medical college and in case there is deficiency of documents, the college can cancel the seat allotment.'

This means: if you are allotted an NRI seat but fail to produce the original documents at reporting, the college will cancel your seat. You will lose the seat entirely. There is no grace period, no chance to submit documents later. The college has the authority to cancel on the spot if documents are deficient or missing.

What documents are required? The notice does not specify the exact list, but based on standard NRI verification, you will likely need: (1) proof of NRI status (passport, NRI certificate, or OCI card), (2) relationship certificates (birth certificate, marriage certificate, adoption deed, etc., as applicable), (3) affidavit from the NRI relative, and (4) any other documents the college requests. Contact your allotted college immediately after allotment to confirm the exact list.

  • ⚠️ Original documents must be produced at reporting—not copies, not scans
  • ⚠️ Deficient or missing documents = seat cancellation by the college
  • ⚠️ No grace period or second chance
  • ✅ Collect and organize all NRI proof and relationship documents NOW, before Round 3 allotment
  • ✅ Contact your allotted college immediately after allotment to confirm the exact document list required

What 'Provisional' Means: Why Your Status Can Change

The notice repeatedly uses the word 'provisional.' This is not accidental. It means the MCC has reviewed your documents based on what you submitted and found them acceptable for now. However, this is not a final determination of your NRI status. The college, when you report, will conduct its own verification. If the college finds that your documents do not genuinely prove NRI status or the claimed relationship, it can reject your claim and cancel your seat.

The note at the end of the list reinforces this: 'The above candidates have been converted provisionally from INDIAN to NRI for the purpose of PG counselling 2025-26 on the basis of scrutiny of documents sent by them to MCC of DGHS. However, the candidates have to produce the same original documents at the time of Reporting in case NRI seat is allotted to them, failing which their admission is liable to get cancelled.' In other words, you were initially registered as an Indian candidate; the MCC has provisionally reclassified you as NRI based on your submitted documents. But this reclassification is not final until the college verifies your original documents.

  • Provisional = MCC has accepted your documents for now, but final verification happens at the college
  • The college can reject your NRI claim if original documents do not match or are insufficient
  • You were initially registered as Indian; this list provisionally converts you to NRI for counselling only

What Happens During Round 3 Choice-Filling and Allotment

Once you confirm your eligibility on this list, you will be eligible to fill NRI choices during the Round 3 choice-filling window. The exact dates for choice-filling and allotment have not been announced in this notice, but they will be published separately by MCC. Watch the MCC website and your registered email for the schedule.

During choice-filling, you will log into the counselling portal and select your preferred colleges and specialties from those available under the NRI quota. The allotment algorithm will then process all choices. If you are Priority 1, your choices will be processed first. If you are Priority 2, your choices will be processed only if Priority 1 seats remain. Allotment is based on merit rank within your priority tier and seat availability.

After allotment, you will receive an allotment letter showing your assigned college and specialty. You must then report to that college on the specified date with all original documents. Failure to report or failure to produce documents will result in seat cancellation.

  • Watch for Round 3 choice-filling dates (not yet announced)
  • Fill NRI choices during the choice-filling window
  • Allotment is processed by priority tier and merit rank
  • After allotment, report to your assigned college with original documents on the specified date

Who Is Eligible for NRI Seats: Definitions

NRI (Non-Resident Indian) status is defined by Indian law. For the purpose of medical PG counselling, an NRI is an Indian citizen who is residing outside India or holds a foreign passport. Children of NRIs are also eligible if they can prove the relationship. Relatives of NRI wards (first- and second-degree) are eligible if they can prove both the NRI status of the relative and their relationship to that NRI.

The key point: you must be able to prove your NRI status or your relationship to an NRI. Mere claim is not enough. The MCC has provisionally accepted your documents; the college will verify them. If you cannot produce the original documents at reporting, your seat will be cancelled.

  • NRI: Indian citizen residing outside India or holding a foreign passport
  • Children of NRIs: eligible if relationship is proven
  • First-degree relatives of NRI wards: spouse, children, parents, siblings
  • Second-degree relatives of NRI wards: grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins

Important Dates and Next Steps

This notice was issued on 27 January 2026. It is a provisional eligibility list, not a schedule. The notice does not announce the dates for Round 3 choice-filling or allotment. Those dates will be published separately by MCC, likely within the next few weeks.

Your immediate action: (1) Check if your roll number is on this list. (2) If yes, note whether you are Priority 1 or Priority 2. (3) Begin collecting and organizing all original documents proving your NRI status and relationships. (4) Watch the MCC website (mcc.nic.in) and your registered email for the Round 3 schedule. (5) When choice-filling opens, log in and fill your NRI choices carefully.

  • Notice issued: 27 January 2026
  • Round 3 choice-filling dates: Not yet announced (watch MCC website)
  • Round 3 allotment dates: Not yet announced (watch MCC website)
  • Reporting date: Will be specified in your allotment letter

Common Mistakes That Get Seats Cancelled

**Mistake 1: Not bringing original documents to reporting.** Many candidates assume copies or scans are acceptable. They are not. The college will cancel your seat if you do not produce originals.

**Mistake 2: Bringing incomplete documents.** If the college asks for a relationship certificate and you bring only a birth certificate, or if you bring a photocopy of a passport instead of the original, your documents will be deemed deficient and your seat will be cancelled.

**Mistake 3: Assuming provisional eligibility is final.** Being on this list does not guarantee your seat will not be cancelled. The college will verify your documents. If they find discrepancies or fraud, your seat will be cancelled and you may face legal consequences.

**Mistake 4: Filling NRI choices if you are not on the list.** If your roll number is not on this list, do not attempt to fill NRI choices. Your application will be rejected.

**Mistake 5: Missing the reporting date.** Even if you are allotted a seat, if you do not report on the specified date, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate.

  • ⚠️ Original documents only—copies will not be accepted
  • ⚠️ All documents must be complete and match the college's requirements
  • ⚠️ Provisional eligibility is not final; college verification is mandatory
  • ⚠️ Do not fill NRI choices if you are not on this list
  • ⚠️ Report on time with all documents or lose your seat

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am eligible for NRI seats in Round 3?

Search for your NEET-PG roll number in the two annexures provided in this notice. If your roll number appears in Annexure I or Annexure II, you are provisionally eligible. If it does not appear, you are not eligible for NRI seats in Round 3.

What is the difference between Priority 1 and Priority 2?

Priority 1 (Annexure I) includes NRI candidates and children of NRIs. Priority 2 (Annexure II) includes first- and second-degree relatives of NRI wards. Priority 1 candidates are processed first during allotment; Priority 2 candidates are considered only if Priority 1 seats remain. Being Priority 1 gives you a significant advantage.

Does being on this list guarantee I will get an NRI seat?

No. Being on this list means you are provisionally eligible to compete for NRI seats. Your actual allotment depends on your merit rank, your choices, and seat availability. There is no guarantee of a seat.

What documents do I need to bring at reporting?

The notice does not specify the exact list, but you will need original documents proving your NRI status (passport, NRI certificate, or OCI card) and relationship certificates (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc., as applicable). Contact your allotted college immediately after allotment to confirm the exact list required.

What happens if I do not bring original documents at reporting?

The college will cancel your seat allotment. There is no grace period or second chance. You will lose the seat entirely. This is explicitly stated in the notice.

Can I use photocopies or scans of documents instead of originals?

No. The notice explicitly requires original documents. Copies or scans will not be accepted. If your documents are deficient or missing, the college will cancel your seat.

When will Round 3 choice-filling and allotment happen?

The dates are not announced in this notice. They will be published separately by MCC. Watch the MCC website (mcc.nic.in) and your registered email for the schedule.

I am on the Priority 2 list. What are my chances of getting a seat?

Your chances depend on how many Priority 1 candidates fill their choices and how many NRI seats remain after Priority 1 allotment. If all Priority 1 candidates are satisfied, few or no seats may be left for Priority 2. You should have backup choices ready.

Can my NRI status be rejected after I am allotted a seat?

Yes. Being on this provisional list does not guarantee your NRI status will be accepted by the college. The college will verify your original documents at reporting. If the college finds that your documents do not genuinely prove NRI status or the claimed relationship, it can reject your claim and cancel your seat.

What if I was initially registered as an Indian candidate but am now on the NRI list?

The notice explains that candidates on this list have been 'converted provisionally from INDIAN to NRI' based on document scrutiny by MCC. This conversion is provisional only. The college will conduct final verification at reporting. If your documents do not satisfy the college, you may be reclassified back to Indian category or rejected entirely.

Can I appeal if my seat is cancelled due to document deficiency?

The notice does not mention an appeal process. The college has the authority to cancel seats for document deficiency. You should ensure all documents are correct and complete before reporting to avoid this situation.

What should I do now if I am on this list?

Immediately: (1) Confirm your roll number and priority tier on the list. (2) Begin collecting and organizing all original documents proving NRI status and relationships. (3) Watch the MCC website for Round 3 choice-filling and allotment dates. (4) When choice-filling opens, fill your NRI choices carefully. (5) After allotment, contact your assigned college to confirm the exact documents required and report on time with all originals.

If your roll number appears on this provisional NRI eligible candidates list, you are now eligible to fill NRI choices in NEET-PG 2026 Round 3. However, your admission is conditional on producing original documents at reporting—copies will not be accepted, and any deficiency will result in seat cancellation. Begin collecting and organizing all NRI proof and relationship documents immediately. Watch the MCC website (mcc.nic.in) for the Round 3 choice-filling and allotment schedule, which will be announced separately. When allotment is declared, contact your assigned college to confirm the exact document list required, and report on time with all originals to secure your seat.
