The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the schedule for medical assessment of candidates applying under the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category for NEET-PG 2026 Round 1. The PwD portal will open on 1 October 2026, and all eligible candidates must complete their medical assessment at either the Primary or Appellate Medical Assessment Board within strict deadlines. This is a mandatory step for PwD candidates before they can proceed to choice-filling and allotment. Missing the assessment window will result in disqualification from the round.

PwD candidates must complete medical assessment between 1–9 October (Primary Board) or 5–12 October (Appellate Board) — missing this deadline means losing your seat in Round 1.

What is this notice about?

This is an official announcement from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the body that conducts national-level postgraduate medical counselling for NEET-PG. It sets out the dates and process for medical assessment of candidates who have applied under the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category for Round 1 of NEET-PG 2026 counselling.

Medical assessment for PwD candidates is a mandatory verification step. It confirms that your disability claim is genuine and that you meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for PwD-reserved seats. Without this assessment, you cannot proceed to the choice-filling stage, even if you have a valid NEET-PG score and have registered for counselling.

Who must do medical assessment?

All candidates who have applied for NEET-PG 2026 Round 1 counselling under the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category must undergo medical assessment. This includes candidates with any recognized disability — physical, sensory, or mental — as defined by the Persons with Disabilities Act.

If you have claimed PwD status in your NEET-PG registration and have been allotted a PwD seat or are eligible for PwD consideration, you must complete this assessment. Candidates who did not apply under PwD category do not need to attend.

Important dates: Primary and Appellate Assessment

The MCC has set up two separate assessment boards with different timelines. The Primary Medical Assessment Board is the first opportunity; the Appellate Board is for candidates who wish to appeal or re-assess their disability status.

It is critical to note that these are not two separate rounds — you attend ONE board. If you are assessed by the Primary Board and are satisfied with the outcome, you do not need to appeal. The Appellate Board is only for candidates who disagree with the Primary Board's decision or who missed the Primary Board window.

  • Primary Medical Assessment Board: 1 October 2026 to 5:00 PM on 9 October 2026
  • Appellate Medical Assessment Board: 10:00 AM on 5 October 2026 to 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026
  • PwD portal activation: 1 October 2026

The PwD portal will become active on 1 October 2026. This is the online gateway through which you will register for medical assessment and receive your appointment details. You must log in using your NEET-PG registration credentials (your roll number and password).

Once you log in, you will be able to select your preferred assessment centre and time slot. The notice does not specify the exact URL of the portal, but candidates should visit the official MCC website at www.mcc.nic.in for the portal link and detailed instructions. Do not use any third-party website or link — always access the portal directly from the official MCC site.

  • Portal goes live: 1 October 2026
  • Access via: www.mcc.nic.in
  • Login required: Use your NEET-PG registration roll number and password
  • You will select your assessment centre and time slot through the portal

Where to go for medical assessment

The notice refers to 'Primary Medical Assessment Centre' and 'Appellate Medical Assessment Board' but does not list the specific centres or their addresses in this document. The MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in) and the PG Information Bulletin will contain the full list of assessment centres, their locations, and contact details.

When you log into the PwD portal, you will be shown the available centres near you or across the country. You must select one and book your slot. Ensure you note the exact address, date, and time of your appointment and arrive at least 15 minutes early. Bring all required documents (see below).

  • Assessment centres are listed on www.mcc.nic.in and in the PG Information Bulletin
  • You will select your centre and time slot through the portal
  • Arrive early and bring all required documents

Documents and certificates to bring

The notice does not explicitly list the documents required for medical assessment. However, standard practice for PwD assessment requires you to bring your disability certificate, NEET-PG admit card, identity proof, and any medical reports that support your disability claim. The exact list is provided in the PG Information Bulletin, which you must download from www.mcc.nic.in.

Do not assume — check the PG Information Bulletin and the portal instructions carefully. Missing a required document on the day of assessment can result in your assessment being deferred or rejected. If you are unsure, contact the MCC helpline or email adgme@nic.in before your appointment.

  • Disability certificate (issued by competent authority)
  • NEET-PG admit card
  • Valid identity proof (Aadhaar, passport, or PAN)
  • Medical reports or diagnostic documents supporting your disability
  • Any other documents specified in the PG Information Bulletin

What happens during medical assessment?

During medical assessment, a board of medical professionals will review your disability certificate and may conduct a physical or clinical examination to verify your disability status. The board will assess whether your disability is genuine, whether it falls within the recognized categories, and whether it meets the severity threshold for PwD reservation.

The assessment is not a test you can pass or fail in the traditional sense — it is a verification process. If the board is satisfied that your disability claim is valid, you will receive a clearance certificate. If there are doubts or if your disability does not meet the criteria, the board may reject your claim or ask for additional documentation. You will be informed of the outcome on the same day or within a few days.

  • Board reviews your disability certificate
  • Physical or clinical examination may be conducted
  • Board verifies authenticity and severity of disability
  • You receive a clearance certificate or a rejection notice
  • Outcome is usually communicated on the day or shortly after

What if you disagree with the Primary Board's decision?

If the Primary Medical Assessment Board rejects your disability claim or you believe their assessment is incorrect, you have the right to appeal. The Appellate Medical Assessment Board will conduct a fresh assessment of your case from 10:00 AM on 5 October 2026 to 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026.

To file an appeal, you must follow the process outlined in the PG Information Bulletin. The notice does not detail the appeal procedure in this document, so you must refer to the Bulletin or contact the MCC for step-by-step instructions. Note that the Appellate Board's decision is final — there is no further appeal after this stage.

  • Appeal window: 5 October to 12 October 2026
  • File appeal only if you disagree with Primary Board's decision
  • Refer to PG Information Bulletin for appeal procedure
  • Appellate Board's decision is final
  • Contact MCC (adgme@nic.in) if you need clarification on appeal process

Critical trap: Missing the assessment deadline

This is the most important point: if you do not complete medical assessment by 5:00 PM on 9 October 2026 (Primary Board) or 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026 (Appellate Board), you will be disqualified from Round 1. There is no extension, no grace period, and no exception. Your seat will be forfeited.

Many candidates miss this deadline because they assume they can do it later or because they are waiting for the appeal outcome. Do not wait. If you are eligible for PwD assessment, complete it at the Primary Board by 9 October. If you need to appeal, do so immediately after receiving the Primary Board's decision — do not delay.

  • ⚠️ Hard deadline: 5:00 PM on 9 October 2026 (Primary Board)
  • ⚠️ Hard deadline: 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026 (Appellate Board, if appealing)
  • ⚠️ Missing the deadline = automatic disqualification from Round 1
  • ⚠️ No extensions or exceptions — plan ahead and complete assessment early

What happens after medical assessment is complete?

Once you have completed medical assessment and received clearance from either the Primary or Appellate Board, you will be eligible to proceed to the next stage of Round 1 counselling — choice-filling. The MCC will announce the choice-filling window separately, and you will log into the counselling portal to select your preferred colleges and specialties.

Your PwD status and the assessment clearance will be recorded in the system, and you will be considered for PwD-reserved seats during allotment. Keep your assessment clearance certificate safe — you may need to produce it at the time of joining your allotted college.

  • Assessment clearance makes you eligible for choice-filling
  • Choice-filling dates will be announced separately by MCC
  • You will be considered for PwD-reserved seats during allotment
  • Keep your clearance certificate for college joining formalities

Frequently asked questions

I applied under PwD category. Do I have to do medical assessment?

Yes. All candidates who applied under the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category for NEET-PG 2026 Round 1 must undergo medical assessment. It is mandatory and is a verification step to confirm your disability claim is genuine. Without assessment clearance, you cannot proceed to choice-filling and will lose your seat in Round 1.

When does the PwD portal open, and how do I access it?

The PwD portal becomes active on 1 October 2026. You access it by visiting www.mcc.nic.in and logging in with your NEET-PG registration roll number and password. Through the portal, you will select your preferred assessment centre and book your appointment slot.

What is the deadline for medical assessment?

The Primary Medical Assessment Board is open until 5:00 PM on 9 October 2026. If you miss this deadline and need to appeal, the Appellate Board is open until 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026. If you miss both deadlines, you will be disqualified from Round 1 — there is no extension.

What is the difference between the Primary Board and the Appellate Board?

The Primary Board conducts your initial medical assessment (1–9 October). If you are satisfied with the outcome, you do not need to go to the Appellate Board. The Appellate Board (5–12 October) is only for candidates who disagree with the Primary Board's decision and wish to appeal or request re-assessment. You attend only one board.

What documents do I need to bring for medical assessment?

The notice does not list specific documents in this announcement. You must refer to the PG Information Bulletin on www.mcc.nic.in for the complete list. Typically, you will need your disability certificate, NEET-PG admit card, identity proof, and medical reports. Check the Bulletin before your appointment to avoid rejection.

What happens if the Primary Board rejects my disability claim?

If rejected, you have the right to appeal to the Appellate Medical Assessment Board between 5–12 October 2026. The appeal process is detailed in the PG Information Bulletin. The Appellate Board will conduct a fresh assessment, and its decision is final — there is no further appeal after that.

Can I choose any assessment centre, or is it assigned to me?

You will select your preferred assessment centre through the PwD portal when you book your appointment. The portal will show available centres. Choose one that is convenient for you and book your slot. The exact list of centres and their addresses is available on www.mcc.nic.in and in the PG Information Bulletin.

What happens after I complete medical assessment?

Once you receive clearance from the Primary or Appellate Board, you will be eligible to proceed to choice-filling for Round 1. The MCC will announce the choice-filling dates separately. You will then log into the counselling portal and select your preferred colleges and specialties. Your PwD status will be recorded, and you will be considered for PwD-reserved seats during allotment.

I missed the Primary Board deadline. Can I still do assessment at the Appellate Board?

The Appellate Board is intended for candidates who wish to appeal the Primary Board's decision, not for those who missed the Primary deadline. However, check the PG Information Bulletin or contact MCC (adgme@nic.in) to confirm whether you can still be assessed. Do not assume — contact MCC immediately if you missed the Primary deadline.

Where can I get the full list of assessment centres and their addresses?

The full list of assessment centres, their locations, and contact details is available on the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in) and in the PG Information Bulletin. When you log into the PwD portal, you will also see the available centres. If you cannot find a centre near you, contact MCC at adgme@nic.in for assistance.

Is there a fee for medical assessment?

The notice does not mention any fee for medical assessment. It is likely free, but to confirm, check the PG Information Bulletin or contact MCC at adgme@nic.in. Do not assume — verify before your appointment.

What if I have questions about the appeal process?

The appeal process is detailed in the PG Information Bulletin, which you must download from www.mcc.nic.in. If you have specific questions, email adgme@nic.in or check the MCC website for helpline contact details. Do not delay — if you need to appeal, do so immediately after receiving the Primary Board's decision.

If you applied under the PwD category for NEET-PG 2026 Round 1, mark your calendar: the PwD portal opens on 1 October 2026, and you must complete medical assessment by 5:00 PM on 9 October (Primary Board) or 5:00 PM on 12 October (Appellate Board, if appealing). Missing this deadline means automatic disqualification. Log into www.mcc.nic.in on 1 October, book your assessment appointment immediately, and download the PG Information Bulletin for the full list of required documents and assessment centres. Do not delay — complete your assessment early to avoid last-minute issues.
