KNRUHS MDS 2026-27 Counselling: First Phase Web Options (19–21 Sept)

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana, has opened the first phase of web-based counselling for MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) admissions under the Competent Authority Quota for the academic year 2026–27. All candidates whose names appear on the final merit list published on 19 September 2026 and whose certificates were uploaded and provisionally verified during registration are now eligible to file their choice of colleges and specialties online. This is a critical step: candidates who do not exercise options in this first phase will be permanently barred from participating in any subsequent counselling rounds. The choice-filing window is just 48 hours — from 6:00 PM on 19 September to 6:00 PM on 21 September 2026.

What is this counselling round?

This is the first phase of web-based counselling for MDS admissions under the Competent Authority Quota (CQ) — the seats that the Telangana government fills through its own counselling process, separate from the national NEET-PG counselling. It applies to Government and Non-minority Dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS across Telangana.

In this phase, you will not be assigned a seat automatically. Instead, you will log into an online portal and tell the university which colleges and specialties you are interested in, ranked by your preference. The university will then use an algorithm to match your choices with available seats, taking into account your merit rank and the seats available in each specialty at each college.

Who is eligible to participate?

You are eligible if and only if:

• Your name appears on the final merit list published by KNRUHS on 19 September 2026 on the KNRUHS website.

• You uploaded all your certificates (degree, category, caste, domicile, etc.) at the time of online registration.

• Your certificates were provisionally verified by the staff of the concerned departments (your college or the university).

• You are a NEET-PG 2026 qualified candidate.

If your name is not on the final merit list, you cannot participate in this round. Check the KNRUHS website immediately to confirm your eligibility.

Important dates and deadlines

The choice-filing window is extremely short — only 48 hours. You must complete your options before the deadline; late submissions will not be accepted.

How to file your choices online

You will file your choices through the online portal at https://tsmds.tsche.in/. You must use a computer with an internet connection — do not use a mobile phone or tablet, as the portal may not work correctly on those devices.

When you save your choices, the system will send a One-Time Password (OTP) — a six-letter code using capital letters A to Z — to your registered mobile number. You will need to enter this OTP to confirm your choices. After you save, print out a copy of your saved options for your records.

There is no limit on the number of choices you can make. You can select any number of specialties and colleges that you are interested in and eligible for. However, rank them carefully in order of your preference, because the allotment algorithm will try to match you to your highest-ranked available option.

Critical trap: If you don't file options now, you cannot participate later

⚠️ This is the most important rule to understand. The notification explicitly states: 'If they do not exercise web options in the first phase of counseling, they are not eligible to exercise web options in subsequent phases of counseling to prevent seat blocking.'

This means if you are on the merit list but do not file your choices between 19–21 September, you will be permanently excluded from all future counselling rounds — even if seats remain unfilled. You will lose your chance at an MDS seat entirely. There is no second chance, no appeal, no exception. If you are eligible, you must file your choices during this window, even if you are unsure about your preferences.

Another critical trap: If you are allotted a seat and don't join, you lose future rounds too

⚠️ If you file options, are allotted a seat, and then decide not to join that college, you will also be barred from participating in any subsequent counselling rounds. The notification states: 'If they exercise web-options for a seat and allotted a MDS seat as per their choice in the web-counseling and if they do not join the course at the allotted college, they will not be eligible for exercising web-options for subsequent rounds of counseling.'

This means you should only file options for colleges and specialties you are genuinely willing to join. Do not file options 'just to see' or as a backup. If you are allotted a seat and reject it, you are out of the entire counselling process.

Fees you must pay

There are two separate fees:

**University Fee: ₹35,000** — This is a one-time fee paid to KNRUHS through an online payment gateway (debit card, credit card, or internet banking). You must pay this fee before you can download your allotment order. This fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

**Tuition Fee** — This is the course fee paid to your allotted college. The amount is set by the Government of Telangana and varies by college and specialty. You will pay this fee directly to the college after you join, not through the online portal.

What happens after you file your choices?

After the choice-filing window closes on 21 September at 6:00 PM, the university will run an allotment algorithm. This algorithm will try to match each candidate to their highest-ranked available choice, based on merit rank and seat availability.

Once allotments are made, you will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number informing you whether you have been allotted a seat. You should also log into the portal and check your allotment status online.

If you are allotted a seat, you will then download your allotment order from the portal after paying the university fee of ₹35,000 online. The allotment order will specify the college, specialty, and the last date and time by which you must report to the college to complete your admission.

What you must do after receiving your allotment

If you are allotted a seat, you must report to the Principal of your allotted college on or before the last date and time specified in your allotment order. You cannot delay or miss this deadline — if you do, your admission will be cancelled automatically, and you will be barred from participating in any subsequent counselling rounds.

When you report to the college, you must bring all your original certificates (degree, category, caste, domicile, etc.), any relevant bonds (if applicable), and be ready to pay the tuition fee. The college's admission committee will conduct a final verification of your original certificates. If there is any discrepancy between what you submitted online and your original documents, your provisional allotment will be cancelled and action may be taken against you under the university regulations.

Once you have submitted your documents and paid the tuition fee, your admission is complete. However, note that your original certificates will not be returned to you unless you discontinue the course before the second phase of counselling.

The number of MDS seats available in each specialty at each college is published in the seat matrix on the KNRUHS website at http://knruhs.telangana.gov.in. You should review this before filing your choices so you know which specialties and colleges have seats available.

The allotment of seats will be made in accordance with existing Government orders and relevant Supreme Court and High Court orders, which may include reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and other categories as per Telangana government policy.
