The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala has begun Phase 1 option registration for NEET PG 2026 medical counselling. Doctors who qualified NEET PG and appear on the Kerala State Merit List (published October 26, 2026) can now log in to the official CEE portal and rank their preferred colleges and specialties. This is a critical step: the options you submit will directly determine which MD, MS, or PG Diploma seat you are offered in the first allotment round. The registration window is short—you have until October 31, 2026 at 10 AM to finalize your choices.

If you are on Kerala's NEET PG 2026 merit list, log in to cee.kerala.gov.in by October 31, 2026 (10 AM) and submit your ranked college and course preferences; your final saved list will be used for Phase 1 seat allotment.

What is Phase 1 Option Registration and Why It Matters

Option registration is the process by which you tell the admission authority which colleges and specialties you wish to be considered for. In Kerala's NEET PG 2026 counselling, Phase 1 is the first allotment round. The seats you are offered depend entirely on three things: your rank on the merit list, the options you have submitted in order of preference, and the availability of seats in each college and specialty.

This is not a guarantee of a seat—it is a ranked wish list. If your rank is high and your top choice has seats available, you are likely to be allotted there. If your top choice is full or your rank does not qualify for it, the system will move to your second choice, and so on. Therefore, the order in which you list your options is as important as which options you choose.

Key Dates for Kerala NEET PG 2026 Phase 1 Option Entry

The registration window opened on October 27, 2026 and will close on October 31, 2026 at 10 AM. This is a tight four-day window, so do not delay. You can modify your options as many times as you wish during this period—only your final saved list at the time of closure will be considered for allotment.

Colleges and Courses Covered in Phase 1

CEE Kerala conducts centralised admission to MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), and PG Diploma seats across government, self-financing, and private medical colleges in Kerala. All three streams are included in Phase 1 option registration. When you log in, you will see the full list of colleges and the specialties available at each. Study this list carefully before you begin filling your options.

Strategy for Filling Your Options: What NEET PG Aspirants Should Know

Do not rush through option registration. Spend time understanding the college list, the specialties offered, and your own rank position. A common mistake is to fill options randomly or to list only your dream choices without realistic backup options. Remember: if your rank does not qualify for your top choices, the system will automatically move to your next preference. If you have not listed enough realistic options, you may end up unallotted in Phase 1.

A balanced approach is to list your options in genuine order of preference, mixing aspirational choices (high-ranked colleges or competitive specialties) with realistic choices (colleges and specialties where your rank is likely to qualify). For example, if you are ranked 500, do not list only the top 10 colleges; include colleges where candidates with ranks around 500–800 have been allotted in previous years. This information is often available in counselling brochures or from senior doctors who have gone through the process.

You can modify your list any number of times before the deadline. Many candidates change their options multiple times as they think through their preferences. This is normal and encouraged. However, make sure you save your final list before 10 AM on October 31, 2026. After that time, the portal will close and no further changes will be allowed.

What Happens After You Submit Your Options

Once the option registration window closes on October 31, 2026, CEE Kerala will process all submitted options and generate a provisional allotment list based on your rank and your preferences. This provisional allotment will be published in the coming weeks (the exact date will be announced on the CEE portal). You will then be able to see which college and specialty you have been allotted in Phase 1.

If you are satisfied with your Phase 1 allotment, you will proceed to report to your allotted college. If you are not allotted in Phase 1 or wish to try for a different option, you may be eligible to participate in Phase 2 (if it is conducted). The rules for Phase 2 participation will be published along with the Phase 1 allotment result.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During Option Registration

Do not assume you will be allotted your first choice just because you have submitted it. Allotment depends on your rank, the number of seats, and how many candidates ahead of you have chosen the same option. Always have a realistic backup plan.

Do not leave your option list incomplete. If you submit only three options and are not allotted any of them, you will be unallotted in Phase 1. Aim to submit at least 8–10 options, even if some are less preferred.

Do not wait until the last minute to register. The portal may experience heavy traffic on October 31, and you risk being unable to log in or save your options if you try at the last moment. Register by October 30 if possible.

Do not forget to save your final list. Simply filling options is not enough; you must click 'Save' to confirm your choices. Take a printout for your records.

Next Steps: What to Do Now

First, confirm that your name appears on the Kerala NEET PG 2026 State Merit List. If it does not, or if there is an error, file a discrepancy complaint immediately. Second, download the official college and course list from cee.kerala.gov.in and study it carefully. Third, research the colleges and specialties you are interested in—look at previous years' cutoffs, college infrastructure, and training quality. Finally, log in and register your options well before the October 31 deadline. Keep a printout of your saved options for future reference.
