The Special/Mop-Up Round is the final counselling round in the NEET UG 2026 admission process for Jammu & Kashmir. This round gives candidates who were not allotted a seat in previous rounds, or those who wish to change their choice, one last opportunity to secure admission.
This is typically the last official counselling round. After this round closes, any remaining seats may be filled through spot counselling or other mechanisms decided by the state, but the formal online counselling process ends here.

Seats Available in This Round
The mop-up round includes remaining MBBS and BDS seats across colleges in Jammu & Kashmir. The exact number and type of seats available will be displayed on the counselling portal once the round opens. Seats may include those from government colleges, private colleges, and seats under various quotas (General, OBC, SC, ST, and other reserved categories as applicable in J&K).
The seat matrix and availability will be visible on the portal at the start of the round. Check the portal carefully to see which colleges and courses have seats available before filling your choices.
Documents You Must Have Ready
Before you begin the counselling process, ensure you have all required documents scanned and ready. You will need to upload these during registration or choice filling. Common documents required include your NEET admit card, NEET score card, 10th and 12th mark sheets, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and other documents as specified by JKBOPEE.
Check the official JKBOPEE notification or the counselling portal for the complete list of required documents. Missing or incorrect documents can lead to rejection of your application or allotment.
- NEET UG 2026 admit card
- NEET score card
- 10th mark sheet and certificate
- 12th mark sheet and certificate
- Caste certificate (if applicable)
- Domicile/residence certificate for Jammu & Kashmir
- Any other documents specified by JKBOPEE
Choice Filling and Locking: Critical Steps
Choice filling is the process where you list the colleges and courses you are willing to accept, in order of preference. The system will try to allot you the highest-preference college where you have a seat based on your rank and category. Once you lock your choices, they cannot be changed, so think carefully before locking.
Many candidates make the mistake of not filling all available choices. Fill as many choices as possible — the more choices you fill, the better your chances of getting a seat. Also, do not lock your choices too early; use the full 28 hours to research colleges and make an informed decision. However, do not wait until the last minute — the portal may experience heavy traffic near the deadline.

- Fill all available choice slots — do not leave them blank
- Arrange choices in order of your genuine preference
- Research colleges and courses before filling
- Lock your choices well before midnight on 8 October
- Do not change your mind after locking — you cannot unlock
Allotment and Seat Confirmation
After the choice-locking deadline passes, JKBOPEE will process all choices and generate an allotment list. The allotment will be based on your NEET rank, category, and the choices you filled. You will be allotted the highest-preference college where a seat is available for your rank and category.
Once allotted, you will need to report to the allotted college for document verification and admission confirmation. The exact date and process for reporting will be announced by JKBOPEE. Failure to report on time may result in forfeiture of your seat.
Important Warnings: Avoid These Mistakes
The 28-hour window is extremely tight. Many candidates miss the deadline because they underestimate how quickly time passes or because they wait until the last moment. Start your registration and choice filling as soon as the portal opens on 7 October at 8 PM.
Do not assume you will get a seat just because you have a NEET score. Seats are limited, and allotment depends on your rank, category, and the choices you fill. If you do not fill choices or if your rank is below the cutoff for available seats, you will not be allotted a seat.
Ensure your caste certificate (if applicable) is valid and issued by the correct authority. An invalid or incorrectly issued certificate can lead to rejection. Similarly, your domicile certificate must clearly establish your residency in Jammu & Kashmir.
- ⚠️ Do not wait until the last hour — register early on 7 October
- ⚠️ Fill all available choices; leaving slots blank reduces your chances
- ⚠️ Lock your choices well before midnight; do not risk missing the deadline
- ⚠️ Ensure all documents are valid and correctly issued
- ⚠️ Do not ignore the allotment result — check the portal regularly after 8 October
