If you're a NEET UG 2026 candidate hoping for an MBBS, BDS or BHMS seat through Jharkhand's state quota, take note: the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has revised the Round 1 counselling timeline. Seat allotment results, originally expected on an earlier date, will now be declared between August 22 and August 28, 2026, and candidates who get a seat must report to their allotted college by August 28. This kind of last-minute date shift is common in state counselling and can genuinely affect your admission if you're not tracking the portal closely. Missing a revised deadline pushes you out of Round 1 and into later, less favourable rounds where preferred colleges and courses may already be filled.
Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment now comes out between August 22–28, and reporting to the allotted college must be completed by August 28 — mark this window and check the JCECEB portal daily.
What exactly changed
JCECEB uploaded a revised notice on August 19, 2026 updating the Round 1 schedule for Jharkhand's NEET UG counselling, which covers MBBS, BDS and BHMS seats in the state.
Under the new timeline, choice locking closed on August 19, seat allotment results will roll out over a window from August 22 to August 28, and document verification plus college reporting must also be completed by August 28.
- Online registration and choice filling: began August 13, 2026
- Final choice locking deadline: August 19, 2026
- Round 1 seat allotment result: August 22 to August 28, 2026
- Document verification and college reporting: August 23 to August 28, 2026

| Online registration and choice filling begin | August 13, 2026 |
| Final choice locking deadline | August 19, 2026 |
| Round 1 seat allotment result | August 22 to August 28, 2026 |
| Document verification and college reporting | August 23 to August 28, 2026 |
Who can join this counselling
Only candidates who qualified NEET UG 2026 and feature on Jharkhand's state merit list can register for this counselling round. Eligibility also requires Indian citizenship, Jharkhand residency, and a minimum age of 17 years by December 31, 2026.
Academic eligibility is based on Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology: General and EWS candidates need 50% aggregate, while SC, ST, BC-I, BC-II and PwBD candidates need 40%.
Fees and security deposit to keep ready
Candidates should keep the correct amount ready before starting registration, since payment is only accepted online via net banking, debit/credit card or UPI.
Beyond the application and counselling fee, a refundable security deposit is charged at the time of seat allotment — this money is returned later but must be paid to confirm your seat.
- General/EWS/BC-I/BC-II: Rs 500 application fee, Rs 1,000 counselling fee
- SC/ST/Women/Divyang (PwBD): Rs 250 application fee, Rs 500 counselling fee
- Security deposit for General/EWS: Rs 20,000
- Security deposit for reserved categories (government colleges): Rs 10,000
Why aspirants should not treat this as a minor delay
State counselling boards revise dates fairly often — for administrative reasons, court directions, or to sync with the central MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) schedule. Jharkhand itself extended its Round 3 deadlines twice in the 2025 cycle, so this kind of shift is part of a recognisable pattern rather than a one-off glitch.
The practical risk for a candidate is simple: if you don't check the portal and miss the new allotment or reporting window, you don't get a second chance in Round 1. You would instead have to wait for Round 2 or the stray vacancy round, by which time many good government MBBS and BDS seats are already taken by those who reported on time.

What is the new date for Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment?
JCECEB will declare the Round 1 seat allotment result sometime between August 22 and August 28, 2026, according to the revised schedule.
By when must I report to my allotted college?
Document verification and reporting at the allotted college must be completed by August 28, 2026.
Can I still change my choices after locking them?
No. Choices had to be locked by August 19, 2026; after this, candidates cannot edit their preference order for Round 1.
Is this counselling only for MBBS, or also BDS and BHMS?
This JCECEB counselling round covers admissions to MBBS, BDS and BHMS seats in Jharkhand.
What happens if I miss the reporting deadline?
Missing the deadline means you lose the allotted seat and can only try again in Round 2 or a later stray vacancy round, where fewer preferred college-course combinations are usually left.
Is the security deposit refundable?
Yes, it is a refundable deposit collected at seat allotment (Rs 20,000 for General/EWS and Rs 10,000 for reserved categories in government colleges), returned as per the board's process.
Candidates in the Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 pool should check jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in daily until the seat allotment result appears, since boards sometimes adjust dates again without much advance notice. If you get a seat, complete document verification and reporting well before the August 28 deadline rather than waiting till the last day.
