JCECEB Jharkhand NEET UG 2026: 1st Round MBBS & BDS Counselling Schedule Revised Again — New Dates Inside

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has issued a fresh press communique changing the dates for the 1st round of online counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Jharkhand. This is not a new round — it is a further revision of the already-ongoing 1st round, made necessary because the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi, directed states on 19 August 2026 to extend the schedule for 1st Round UG State Counselling 2026. The changes apply to three separate counselling streams run by JCECEB: State Quota seats, All India Quota MBBS seats in four named colleges, and All India Quota BDS seats in one dental college. Candidates who have already registered or are in the process of filling choices now get extra time, but the entire process — including document verification and admission — must be finished by 5 September 2026.

Why the dates changed again

JCECEB had already revised its 1st round schedule once earlier this month. On 19 August 2026, MCC New Delhi directed all states to extend the schedule for the 1st Round of UG State Counselling 2026. Acting on this direction, JCECEB has now issued a second, 'updated' schedule that pushes the dates further than both the original and the first revision.

This means candidates should ignore the earlier notified dates and the 'revised' dates that were circulated before — only the 'Updated Notified Date' column below is currently valid. Because JCECEB has changed dates twice in quick succession, candidates must keep checking the official website regularly so they do not miss a step.

Updated schedule: State Quota seats (MBBS & BDS)

State Quota seats are the seats Jharkhand fills through its own counselling process (as opposed to seats reserved for candidates from anywhere in India). The table below shows how each activity's date has moved — from the original notification, to the first revision, to the final 'updated' date that is now in force.

• Online registration, choice filling, and editing of choices will run simultaneously and both close on 25 August 2026 — there is no separate later date for editing.
• After choices close, seat allotment results and provisional allotment letters will be released between 27 August and 5 September 2026.
• Document verification and admission at the allotted college must be completed within the same window: 28 August 2026 to 5 September 2026.

Updated schedule: All India Quota seats in named Jharkhand colleges

JCECEB is also conducting the 1st round for a small set of All India Quota seats — seats that, in this case, are being counselled through the state board for specific institutions, as directed by MCC. The same 'push forward' pattern applies here too.

For MBBS, this applies to four colleges: Laxmi Chandravansi Medical College & Hospital, Palamu; Netaji Subhas Medical College and Hospital, Seraikela-Kharsawan; Sido Kanhu Medical College & Hospital, Dumka; and Birsa Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Khunti.

For BDS, this applies to Vananchal Dental College and Hospital, Garhwa (under Babu Dinesh Singh University, Garhwa). Both the MBBS and BDS All India Quota schedules carry identical dates.

• Same closing date for registration and choice filling: 25 August 2026.
• Same allotment window: 27 August to 5 September 2026.

BHMS seats: still pending, not yet counselled

The notice clarifies that seats for the BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) course have not yet been received from the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand. JCECEB says it will announce recommendations for BHMS admission — based on the NEET (UG)-based State Merit List — only once the seat details are made available.

Disability certificate: RIMS Ranchi now authorised

Candidates who need to submit a disability certificate as part of their NEET UG counselling documents (for example, candidates applying under the Persons with Disability category) should note an important update: the Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand, has authorised Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, to issue disability certificates for admission to MBBS, BDS, and BHMS courses for the current 2026–27 session.

This is significant because counselling authorities generally accept disability certificates only from designated/authorised centres — a certificate from an unauthorised hospital can be rejected during document verification. Candidates in Jharkhand needing this certificate should get it issued from RIMS, Ranchi.

What happens after this round, and which older notices are affected

JCECEB has stated that the revised schedule for the 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy rounds of counselling will be published later, in line with whatever directions the Medical Counselling Committee, New Delhi issues for State Counselling at that time. No dates for later rounds have been announced yet.
