If you are a Himachal Pradesh domicile candidate hoping for an MBBS or BDS seat under the state quota, the counselling calendar you were tracking has just changed. Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), which conducts HP's NEET UG counselling, has revised its Round 1 timetable, moving the release of the final merit list and every step that follows it. Since seat allotment, choice filling and even your reporting dates are all tied to this one document, even a small shift matters a great deal to your planning. This piece lays out the new dates, the fees, the paperwork, and what to do if you missed registration.
AMRU has revised the HP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling schedule, so check the merit list and every downstream date afresh on amruhp.ac.in rather than relying on the calendar you noted earlier.
The revised Round 1 timeline
AMRU's updated schedule sets out a tight sequence of events from the merit list through to reporting at the allotted college. Candidates should treat this revised version as final unless AMRU issues a further update on its portal.
Every step in this chain depends on the one before it, so a delay anywhere pushes the rest of the calendar too. This is why candidates are advised to check the portal daily rather than assuming the dates below are fixed forever.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Final Merit List of Round 1 | August 21, 2026 |
| Filling and Locking of Choices (Course/College/Quota) | August 22–25, 2026 |
| Round 1 Provisional Seat Allocation | August 27, 2026 |
| Round 1 Final Seat Allocation | August 29, 2026 |
| Joining the Allotted College and Course | September 1–3, 2026 |
Who can take part, and who cannot enter Round 1 now
Only candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and meet Himachal Pradesh's domicile requirements are eligible for this state quota process. Reserved category candidates additionally need valid category certificates to claim their benefit.
Registration for this round had a fixed window in August, and that window is now closed. Candidates who did not register in time cannot join Round 1 at this stage. Their realistic option is to wait for a later round — AMRU has two more counselling rounds planned, plus a stray vacancy round expected in September 2026, and to apply if seats remain unfilled at that stage.
Registration fee by category
The counselling registration fee, already collected during the August registration window, was structured by category as follows. This fee is separate from any tuition or college fee and does not guarantee a seat — it only covers entry into the merit-list process.
- General, NRI, OBC and other categories: Rs 2,500
- SC, ST and EWS categories: Rs 1,500
- Persons with Disability (PwD): No fee
Documents to keep ready before choice filling
Once the merit list is out and you move to choice filling, you will eventually need to report to your allotted institute with original documents — photocopies are not accepted for verification. It is worth assembling these now rather than at the last minute, since the gap between provisional and final allotment is short.
- NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
- Himachal Pradesh domicile or bonafide certificate
- Category certificate (for SC, ST, OBC or EWS candidates)
- Aadhaar card or another valid photo ID
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Counselling registration fee receipt
What happens after the merit list is out
Candidates who appear on the final merit list move to choice filling, where they rank their preferred colleges, courses and quota in order of priority. Seat allotment is then decided using rank, the choices submitted, and category, so how carefully you order your preferences during the August 22–25 window will directly shape which seat you get.
Allotted candidates must report to the assigned institute with original documents within the joining dates. Missing the reporting window can risk the allotted seat, so treat these dates as firm deadlines, not suggestions.
Rounds ahead and where to get help
Round 1 is only the first of several stages. AMRU has indicated two further counselling rounds after this one, along with a stray vacancy round likely in September 2026 for seats that remain vacant. Candidates who do not get an allotment in Round 1, or those who missed registering this time, should watch for these later rounds.
For queries during counselling, AMRU has set up a WhatsApp helpline at 9459139364. As always, candidates should rely only on the official portal, amruhp.ac.in, for any change in dates rather than second-hand information.
