The Admission Committee for Professional Post Graduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPPGMEC), Government of Gujarat, has released the provisional in-service merit list for MD, MS, and Diploma courses for the 2026-27 academic year. This list shows the top-ranked in-service candidates (doctors already employed in government or private institutions) who have qualified for postgraduate medical admission in Gujarat. The merit list includes 12 candidates ranked by their NEET PG scores and all-India overall rank. Importantly, this is a provisional list — your reserved category claim is subject to final verification by the Gujarat State competent authority. The cutoff scores for different categories are also published, which will guide future counselling rounds.
The provisional in-service merit list for Gujarat NEET PG 2026-27 shows cutoff scores of 262 (General/EWS), 226 (SC/ST/OBC), and 244 (PwD); check if your rank appears and verify your category eligibility before counselling.

Unlock My College ListWhat is this merit list and who does it apply to?
This is the provisional in-service merit list for MD, MS, and Diploma postgraduate medical courses in Gujarat for the 2026-27 session. 'In-service' means this list is exclusively for doctors who are already employed — either in government medical colleges, government hospitals, private medical colleges, or private hospitals. If you are a fresh MBBS graduate with no employment, you are NOT eligible for this list; you will appear in the general merit list instead.
The list ranks 12 in-service candidates by their NEET PG 2026 score and all-India overall rank. Each candidate is assigned an in-service rank (1 to 12 in this provisional list) and shown their pass institute (the medical college where they studied MBBS). The list also notes any special eligibility — for example, whether a candidate is eligible for NRI seats, reserved category seats, or both.
Important: This is a provisional list — what does that mean?
The word 'provisional' is critical. It means this list is NOT final. Two things can still change: (1) Your claim of reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or PwD) is subject to final verification by the competent authority of Gujarat State. If your caste or disability certificate is found to be invalid or fraudulent during verification, you will be moved to the general category or removed from the list. (2) The list may be updated if errors are found, if additional candidates become eligible, or if appeals are processed.
Do NOT assume your position on this provisional list is guaranteed. Wait for the final merit list before making any decisions about which college or speciality to choose. If you are on this list, keep your documents (caste certificate, disability certificate, employment proof, MBBS degree) ready for verification.
Cutoff scores by category — what do they mean?
The notice publishes three cutoff scores — the minimum NEET PG score needed to qualify for each category:
These cutoffs apply to the in-service merit list. If your NEET PG score is at or above the cutoff for your category, you are eligible to appear in counselling for in-service seats. If your score is below the cutoff, you will not be called for counselling in this category, even if you are employed. The cutoff is the gateway — without meeting it, you cannot proceed.
- General/EWS: 262 score
- SC/ST/OBC: 226 score
- PwD (Persons with Disability): 244 score
| Category | Minimum Cutoff Score |
|---|---|
| General / EWS | 262 |
| SC / ST / OBC | 226 |
| PwD (Persons with Disability) | 244 |
Understanding the remarks column — what do the numbers mean?
Know the exact MD/MS/DNB seats your rank can get
Official round-wise closing ranks with fee and stipend, matched to your rank.
The 'Remark' column in the merit list uses numbers to flag special eligibility. These numbers tell you which seats a candidate is eligible for. Here is what each number means:
For example, if a candidate has remark '-1', they are eligible for only reserved category seats (their own SC/ST/OBC/EWS category). If they have '-1-5', they are eligible for both reserved category seats AND NRI seats. If there is no remark, the candidate is eligible for general merit seats. These remarks determine which seats you can be offered during counselling — if you are marked as eligible for only NRI seats, you cannot be offered a general merit seat even if one is available.
- No remark: eligible for general merit seats
- -1: eligible for only reserved category seats (your own SC/ST/OBC/EWS category)
- -3: eligible for only NRI seats
- -4: eligible for NRI + GQ (Gujarat Quota) + MQ (Merit Quota) seats
- -5: eligible for only in-service candidate seats
- -1-5: eligible for both reserved category seats AND in-service seats
- -1-3: eligible for reserved category seats AND NRI seats
What is the difference between 'GEN MERIT' rank and 'CAT MERIT' rank?
'GEN MERIT' rank is your rank among ALL candidates (general and reserved) in the all-India NEET PG merit list. 'CAT MERIT' rank is your rank within your own reserved category (if you belong to SC, ST, OBC, or EWS). For example, if you are SC and your GEN MERIT rank is 4348, but your CAT MERIT rank is SE-1044 (where SE stands for Socially and Educationally backward), it means you are ranked 4348 overall but 1044 among SC candidates.
During counselling, you will be offered seats based on your CAT MERIT rank if you are in a reserved category, or your GEN MERIT rank if you are general/EWS. Reserved category candidates are called in order of their CAT MERIT rank, not their GEN MERIT rank. This is why two candidates with very different GEN MERIT ranks can both be on the same merit list — they are competing in different categories.
How to check if you are on this list
To find yourself on the merit list, look for your User ID or Roll Number in the table. Your User ID is the unique identifier assigned to you when you registered for NEET PG 2026. Your Roll Number is your NEET PG exam roll number. If you find your name and rank, note down: (1) your in-service rank (the number in the 'IN Service' column), (2) your all-India overall rank, (3) your NEET PG score, (4) your pass institute (the college where you did MBBS), and (5) any remarks about your eligibility.
If you do NOT find your name on this list, it could mean: (1) you are not an in-service candidate (you are a fresh graduate), (2) your NEET PG score is below the cutoff for your category, (3) your employment status could not be verified, or (4) there is an error in your registration. Contact ACPPGMEC immediately if you believe you should be on the list.
What happens next? Timeline and counselling
This provisional merit list is released on 22 October 2026. The next steps will be announced by ACPPGMEC in a separate notification. Typically, after the merit list is released, the authority will: (1) invite objections or appeals if you believe there is an error in your rank or eligibility, (2) publish the final merit list after resolving appeals, (3) announce the counselling schedule (dates for choice filling, seat allotment, and joining), and (4) begin the counselling process.
Keep checking the ACPPGMEC website (medadmgujarat.ncode.in) regularly for updates. Do not miss any deadline — if you fail to fill your choices or report for joining by the announced date, you may lose your seat. In-service counselling may happen in separate rounds or may be integrated with general counselling; the authority will clarify this in the next notification.
Reserved category eligibility — what you must verify
If you are claiming a reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, or EWS), your eligibility is PROVISIONAL. This means the Gujarat State competent authority will verify your caste or EWS certificate during the counselling process. If your certificate is found to be invalid, forged, or issued incorrectly, you will be removed from the reserved category list and moved to the general category. Your rank will change, and you may not qualify for counselling.
To avoid rejection, ensure your caste certificate: (1) is issued by the correct authority (District Magistrate or Collector for SC/ST, or the prescribed authority for OBC/EWS), (2) shows your name, date of birth, and caste/community correctly, (3) is not older than the validity period set by your state, and (4) matches the information in your NEET PG registration. If you have any doubt about your certificate, get it verified by the issuing authority BEFORE counselling begins.

PwD (Persons with Disability) candidates — special eligibility
If you are a PwD candidate, you have a separate cutoff score of 244 (compared to 262 for general/EWS and 226 for SC/ST/OBC). This means you need a score of at least 244 to qualify for counselling as a PwD candidate. PwD candidates are also eligible for reserved seats in addition to general seats, depending on your state's policy.
To claim PwD status, you must have a valid disability certificate issued by a medical board recognized by the government. The certificate must specify the type and percentage of disability. During counselling, you will need to produce this certificate for verification. If your disability is not recognized or your certificate is invalid, you will be treated as a general candidate and your rank will change.
NRI candidates — eligibility for NRI seats
Some candidates on this list are marked as eligible for NRI seats (remarks -3 or -4). NRI stands for Non-Resident Indian — a candidate who is an Indian citizen but holds a foreign passport or has been residing abroad. NRI seats are a separate quota, and the number of NRI seats available is limited. If you are marked as eligible for NRI seats, you can be offered an NRI seat during counselling, but only if NRI seats are available and your rank qualifies.
If you are an NRI candidate, you will need to produce proof of NRI status (foreign passport, visa, or proof of residence abroad) during counselling. The exact documents required will be specified in the counselling brochure. NRI seats typically have higher fees than general seats, so be prepared for this cost difference.
Common mistakes that get candidates rejected
Many candidates lose their seats or are rejected during counselling due to preventable errors. Here are the most common traps:
1. **Unverified or invalid caste certificate**: If your SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate is not issued by the correct authority or is outdated, you will be rejected. Verify your certificate NOW, not during counselling.
2. **Employment status not verified**: If you claim to be in-service but cannot produce valid employment proof (appointment letter, salary slip, service certificate), you will be moved to the general merit list and your rank will drop significantly.
3. **Missing or incorrect documents**: If you do not bring all required documents (MBBS degree, NEET PG admit card, ID proof, caste/disability certificate, employment proof), your admission will be delayed or cancelled.
4. **Not meeting the cutoff score**: If your NEET PG score is below the cutoff for your category, you are not eligible for counselling, even if you are on the provisional list. The final list will remove candidates below the cutoff.
5. **Ignoring the 'provisional' status**: Do not assume your position is final. Wait for the final merit list and keep your documents ready for verification.
Colleges and specialities available for in-service candidates
The merit list shows the pass institutes (colleges where candidates studied MBBS) but does NOT show which specialities or colleges are available for counselling. The specialities and colleges available for in-service candidates will be announced in the seat matrix, which ACPPGMEC will publish separately. The seat matrix will show: (1) which medical colleges in Gujarat are participating, (2) how many seats are available in each speciality (MD, MS, Diploma), (3) how many seats are reserved for in-service candidates, and (4) the category-wise breakdown (general, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, NRI).
In-service candidates typically have a smaller pool of seats compared to general candidates, as most seats are reserved for fresh graduates. The exact number of in-service seats will depend on the state's policy and the colleges' intake capacity. Check the seat matrix carefully to understand your options before counselling begins.

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
I am on the provisional merit list. Does this mean I will definitely get a seat?
No. Being on the provisional merit list means you have qualified for counselling, but a seat is not guaranteed. Your final eligibility depends on: (1) verification of your reserved category claim (if applicable), (2) your rank relative to other candidates, (3) the number of seats available in your chosen speciality and college, and (4) your choices during counselling. Many candidates on the merit list will not get a seat if their rank is lower than the number of available seats or if they do not fill their choices correctly.
What does 'provisional' mean? Can the list change?
Yes, the list can change. 'Provisional' means it is not final. The authority may update the list if: (1) reserved category claims are rejected after verification, (2) employment status cannot be verified, (3) errors are found in the ranking, (4) appeals are processed, or (5) additional candidates become eligible. Always check for the final merit list before making any decisions.
My NEET PG score is 260. I am General category. Am I eligible for counselling?
No. The cutoff for General/EWS is 262. Your score of 260 is below the cutoff, so you are not eligible for counselling as a general candidate. You will not be called for in-service counselling. If you are SC/ST/OBC, check the cutoff for your category (226); if your score is 260, you would be eligible.
I am SC category and my score is 230. I am on the provisional list. Will I definitely get a seat?
You meet the cutoff (226), so you are eligible for counselling. However, whether you get a seat depends on your rank among other SC candidates and the number of SC seats available. If there are 100 SC seats and you are ranked 50 among SC candidates, you will likely get a seat. If you are ranked 150, you may not. Check the seat matrix when it is released to understand how many SC seats are available.
What documents do I need to bring for counselling?
The notice does not specify the exact documents required for counselling. However, typically you will need: (1) MBBS degree certificate, (2) NEET PG admit card and score card, (3) ID proof (Aadhaar, passport, or driving license), (4) caste/disability certificate (if claiming reserved category), (5) employment proof (appointment letter, salary slip, service certificate), and (6) any other documents specified in the counselling brochure. Check the ACPPGMEC website for the detailed document list when the counselling brochure is released.
I am marked as 'eligible for only NRI seats' (remark -3). Can I be offered a general seat?
No. If you are marked as eligible for only NRI seats, you can ONLY be offered NRI seats during counselling. You cannot be offered a general merit seat, even if one is available. This restriction is based on your eligibility status. If you believe this is an error, contact ACPPGMEC immediately to request a correction.
My caste certificate is 10 years old. Is it still valid?
The notice does not specify the validity period for caste certificates. However, most states accept caste certificates issued within the last 5-10 years. If your certificate is 10 years old, it may be rejected during verification. Contact the issuing authority (District Magistrate or Collector) to check if it is still valid, or get a new certificate issued if needed. Do this BEFORE counselling begins.
I am not on the provisional merit list. What should I do?
If you are not on the list, it could be because: (1) you are not an in-service candidate, (2) your NEET PG score is below the cutoff for your category, (3) your employment status could not be verified, or (4) there is an error in your registration. Contact ACPPGMEC with your User ID or Roll Number to clarify. If there is an error, you may be able to appeal and be added to the final list.
When will the final merit list be released?
The notice does not specify the date for the final merit list. It will be released after objections and appeals are processed. Check the ACPPGMEC website (medadmgujarat.ncode.in) regularly for updates. The final list will be followed by the counselling schedule.
What is the difference between 'in-service rank' and 'all-India overall rank'?
'In-service rank' is your rank among in-service candidates only (doctors already employed). 'All-India overall rank' is your rank among ALL candidates (in-service and general) in the NEET PG 2026 exam. Your all-India rank is typically much higher (larger number) than your in-service rank because there are far fewer in-service candidates. During counselling, your in-service rank will be used to determine your position in the in-service merit list.
I am PwD candidate with a score of 245. Am I eligible?
Yes. The cutoff for PwD candidates is 244, and your score of 245 is above the cutoff. You are eligible for counselling as a PwD candidate. However, you must have a valid disability certificate issued by a recognized medical board. Bring this certificate for verification during counselling.
Can I change my category from SC to General if I want?
No. Your category is determined by your NEET PG registration and your valid caste/disability certificate. You cannot change it during counselling. If you registered as SC and have a valid SC certificate, you will be treated as SC. If you want to be considered as general, you would need to have registered as general during NEET PG registration, which is now closed.
This provisional in-service merit list is the first step in the counselling process for Gujarat NEET PG 2026-27. If you are on the list, verify that your name, rank, score, and remarks are correct. Immediately check your caste/disability certificate and employment proof for any issues — these will be verified during counselling. Keep checking the ACPPGMEC website (medadmgujarat.ncode.in) for the final merit list, seat matrix, and counselling schedule. Do not delay — missing any deadline can cost you your seat.
