If you appeared for NEET UG 2026 with a Goa domicile claim, the state's medical admission process has now moved into its most important phase. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa has finalised its NEET UG 2026 merit list and opened Round 1 counselling for MBBS, BDS and BPharm seats under the state quota. This list decides your seat at institutions like Goa Medical College, Panaji, and any error or delay at this stage can cost you a seat in the very first round. Here's what changed, what the dates mean, and what you need to have ready before you report for counselling.

Goa-domicile NEET UG candidates should download the final DTE Goa merit list, confirm their rank and eligibility, and report with complete original documents within the August 25–28, 2026 window to avoid losing their Round 1 seat chance.

What DTE Goa has actually announced

DTE Goa first put out a provisional NEET UG 2026 merit list on August 16, 2026, giving candidates a chance to raise objections about rank, category or eligibility errors. After reviewing these objections, the department locked and published the final merit list on August 19, 2026, at dte.goa.gov.in.

This final list is the basis for filling seats under Goa's 85% state quota in MBBS, BDS and BPharm programmes. The remaining 15% of seats in Goa's medical and dental colleges fall under the All India Quota (AIQ), which is counselled separately by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), so candidates competing for both routes need to track two different timelines.

Round 1 counselling: key dates to note

DTE Goa issued the Round 1 admission notice on August 21, 2026, and scheduled reporting and admission for NEET-based degree courses (MBBS, BDS) and BPharm between August 25 and 28, 2026. This is an offline process — candidates must physically report to the counselling venue notified by DTE Goa, not just submit choices online.

How Round 1 seat allotment works

Seat allotment in this round is based purely on your merit position on the final list and your category. There is no online choice-filling step described here — candidates report in person, undergo document verification at their assigned slot, and participate in offline seat allocation based on rank.

Once a seat is offered, the candidate must accept it on the spot and pay the prescribed admission fee to confirm the allotment. Because this happens in real time at the venue, arriving without your paperwork in order, or arriving late, can mean losing a seat that your rank had otherwise earned you.

Documents you must carry — no exceptions

DTE Goa has specified a standard set of originals plus self-attested photocopies for verification at the counselling venue. Missing even one document can lead to your allotted seat being cancelled on the spot, so this list is worth checking off a day in advance, not on the morning of reporting.

  • NEET UG 2026 admit card and official scorecard
  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates
  • Birth certificate as proof of date of birth
  • Domicile certificate issued by the competent Goa authority
  • Category certificate, for candidates claiming reserved-category seats
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • A valid government photo ID such as Aadhaar

Why this round matters more than later ones

In small states like Goa, the number of state quota MBBS and BDS seats is limited, and Goa Medical College, Panaji remains the primary destination for local aspirants. Skipping or missing Round 1 usually means competing for a much narrower set of leftover seats in Round 2 or the mop-up round — rounds whose dates DTE Goa has not yet announced.

For candidates who are also in contention for AIQ seats through MCC, it's worth remembering that accepting and confirming a state quota seat can affect your standing in the parallel AIQ round, depending on the seat-acceptance rules in force. Read the official notice carefully before accepting any offer if you're still waiting on an AIQ outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I check the Goa NEET UG 2026 final merit list?

The final merit list is available as a PDF on dte.goa.gov.in under the Notices section. You can search it by name or NEET application number to find your merit position and course eligibility.

Is Round 1 counselling online or offline?

It is offline. Candidates must report in person to the counselling venue notified by DTE Goa, complete document verification, and go through seat allotment and fee payment on-site.

What percentage of Goa's medical seats does this list cover?

This final merit list governs 85% of the state quota seats in MBBS, BDS and BPharm programmes in Goa. The other 15%, the All India Quota seats, are counselled separately by the MCC.

What happens if I miss the Round 1 reporting dates (August 25–28)?

You would have to wait for Round 2 or the mop-up round, for which DTE Goa has not yet announced dates. Seat options in later rounds are generally fewer, since many seats get filled in Round 1.

What documents should I carry to the counselling venue?

Bring your NEET admit card and scorecard, Class 10 and 12 certificates, birth certificate, Goa domicile certificate, category certificate (if applicable), passport photos, and a government photo ID like Aadhaar — originals plus self-attested photocopies.

Can I still apply for AIQ seats if I take a Goa state quota seat?

You can be in contention for both, but accepting and confirming a state quota seat may have implications for your AIQ participation depending on MCC's seat-acceptance rules for that round. Check the official notices for both processes before deciding.

If you're on the Goa NEET UG 2026 list, don't wait until the last reporting day — verify your rank now, assemble your documents, and reach the venue early within the August 25–28 window. Keep watching dte.goa.gov.in for the Round 1 outcome and for Round 2 or mop-up round dates, which haven't been announced yet.
