Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh has released the prospectus for Management Quota admissions into MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) courses in private un-aided non-minority dental colleges for the 2026-27 academic year. Important dates: When to apply

Online applications open on 21 September 2026 at 7:00 PM and close on 24 September 2026 at 10:00 PM. No late fee is charged during this window. If you miss this deadline, you can still apply on 25 September 2026 only, between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, but you must pay an additional late fee of ₹10,000 on top of the registration fee.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must have qualified NEET MDS 2026 conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, and achieved the minimum cut-off score for your category. You must hold a BDS degree recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI), have completed your internship by 31 May 2026, and be registered with any state dental council. If your BDS is from outside India, it must be recognised by the DCI for enrolment as a dental practitioner in India, and you must have permanent registration with the Dental Council of India or a state dental council.

The minimum NEET MDS 2026 cut-off scores are: General category 308 out of 960 (50th percentile); General PwBD 289 (45th percentile); SC/ST/BC/OBC including PwBD 271 (40th percentile). These lower cut-offs for SC/ST/BC/OBC/PwBD are for eligibility only and do not confer any reservation quota, as there are no reserved seats in management quota.

Management Quota seat categories and local area rules

Management Quota seats are divided into three subcategories. Subcategory-1 (S1) comprises 25% of the sanctioned intake: 15% (S1A) are open to candidates from across India, but the notice states that S1A seats are not available in MDS courses due to limited seats in each specialty. The remaining 85% (S1B) are exclusively reserved for local candidates of Andhra Pradesh—specifically those who studied in the Andhra University (AU) or Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) areas. Candidates who completed BDS outside Andhra Pradesh or outside India are eligible only for Subcategory-2 (NRI) or Subcategory-3 (Institutional) seats.

Subcategory-2 (S2) comprises 15% of total intake and is for NRI (Non-Resident Indian) candidates, foreign students, OCI/PIO cardholders, and children/blood relatives of NRIs. Subcategory-3 (S3) comprises 10% of total intake and is for institutional preference or in-service management quota—candidates sponsored by the college management (either alumni of that college, employees of that college with 1+ year experience, or children of such employees).

Local area for S1B seats is defined as the entire state of Andhra Pradesh divided into two zones: Andhra University area and Sri Venkateswara University area. For candidates who completed BDS before 2024-25 from government dental colleges in Vijayawada or Hyderabad, local area is determined by the maximum study period of 4 years out of 7 years from 6th class to Intermediate/10+2 in Andhra Pradesh.

NRI Quota (Subcategory-2) eligibility and documents

To apply under NRI Quota, you must be an actual NRI candidate, a foreign student, or hold an OCI/PIO card (registered on or after 4 March 2021). Alternatively, you may be a child or blood relative of an NRI. Eligible blood relatives are: real brother/sister of father (uncle/aunt), real brother/sister of mother (maternal uncle/aunt), father/mother of father (grandfather/grandmother), father/mother of mother (maternal grandfather/grandmother), or first-degree paternal and maternal cousins. The NRI relative must be ordinarily residing abroad and must have acted as your guardian with evidence to prove this.

You must submit a Declaration of Blood Relative (Annexure-I) signed by both you and the NRI, along with a Family Tree Certificate issued by the Competent Revenue Authority showing the relationship. You must also provide the latest 6 months' bank statement of the NRI's NRE (Non-Resident External) bank account and a copy of the NRI's passport. If the NRI status certificate from the embassy is not readily available, you may upload an affidavit signed by your parent and yourself stating it will be submitted at the college after joining.

Institutional Quota (Subcategory-3) eligibility and sponsorship

Institutional Quota seats are for candidates sponsored by the college management. There are three eligibility criteria. Criteria 1: You completed your BDS at that particular college. You must upload your BDS Study Certificate to the university for sponsorship consideration. The college will then upload a sponsorship letter online for every eligible candidate at the time of verification. Allotment is strictly by merit based on NEET MDS 2026 rank. Per a High Court order (W.P. No. 2220 of 2026), the college must sponsor all eligible candidates and the university will allot seats purely on merit.

Criteria 2: You are an employee of that college with a minimum of 1 year experience and are currently working there as of the application date. You must upload your appointment order, last 6 months' payslips, and 6 months' bank statement showing salary credit from the college.

Criteria 3: You are the son or daughter of an employee of that college who has a minimum of 1 year experience and is currently working there. You must upload the employee's appointment order, proof of your relationship (SSC/Birth Certificate), last 6 months' payslips of the employee, and 6 months' bank statement showing salary credit from the college. If the number of sponsored candidates exceeds available S3 seats, allotment is by merit based on NEET MDS 2026 rank.

All documents must be uploaded as PDF or JPG/JPEG files during online registration. NEET MDS 2026 score card (without password protection) is mandatory. Your BDS degree certificate (provisional or original), BDS study certificate, and internship completion certificate are all mandatory. You must also upload your Aadhar card (photo identity), a recent passport-size photo, and your specimen signature. If you completed BDS from government dental colleges in Vijayawada or Hyderabad, upload your 6th to Intermediate/10+2 study certificates. If you migrated from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh, upload a local status certificate from the MRO of AP.

If you hold an OCI/PIO card, upload it. If you have another PG degree, upload that certificate. Your Temporary or Permanent Dental Registration from your state dental council is mandatory; if your BDS is from outside India, Permanent Dental Council Registration is mandatory. If applicable, upload your caste category certificate or minority certificate (note: there are no Muslim minority dental colleges in PG dental courses in AP).

Registration and application fees

The registration and processing fee depends on where you completed your BDS and whether you apply on time or with a late fee. If you apply between 21–24 September 2026 (no late fee): candidates with BDS completed within Andhra Pradesh pay ₹7,000; candidates with BDS completed outside AP pay ₹7,000 plus ₹3,000 verification fee (total ₹10,000); candidates with BDS completed outside India pay ₹7,000 plus ₹7,000 verification fee (total ₹14,000).

If you apply on 25 September 2026 with the late fee: candidates with BDS within AP pay ₹7,000 plus ₹20,000 late fee (total ₹27,000); candidates with BDS outside AP pay ₹10,000 plus ₹20,000 late fee (total ₹30,000); candidates with BDS outside India pay ₹14,000 plus ₹20,000 late fee (total ₹34,000). Tuition fees and university fees

All selected candidates must pay a non-refundable University Fee of ₹54,600. This is paid at the time of downloading the provisional allotment order and is separate from tuition fees. Tuition fees vary by course type and seat category and are payable to the college after admission.

For Category-B (Management Quota Subcategory-1) seats: Clinical degree/diploma courses cost ₹7,85,565 per year; Para-clinical degree/diploma courses cost ₹5,74,759 per year. For Category-C (NRI/Institutional Quota Subcategory-2 and 3) seats: Clinical degree/diploma courses cost ₹15,87,000 per year; Para-clinical degree/diploma courses cost ₹9,25,750 per year. How to apply: Step-by-step process

Read the prospectus carefully before starting. Gather all required documents and keep them ready in digital form (scanned PDFs or JPG images). Visit the university website https://drntr.uhsap.in and access the online application portal. Fill in your personal details, NEET MDS 2026 information, and course preferences. Upload all scanned certificates and documents as per the checklist. Ensure all information is accurate and complete—no changes or additions are permitted after submission.

Select your preferred subcategory (S1, S2, or S3) at the time of initial application. If you are applying for S2 (NRI) or S3 (Institutional) seats, indicate this clearly during application. Once the phase-wise merit list is published and counselling begins, no changes to S2 or S3 category preferences will be allowed; such modifications can only be made before the commencement of subsequent phases. Pay the registration fee through the payment gateway using debit card, credit card, or net banking. Take a printout of your completed application form and keep it safe for future reference.

Do not submit multiple applications. Only one application per candidate will be considered. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Counselling phases and seat allotment process

There are four rounds of counselling: Phase-I, Phase-II, Phase-III (Mop Up), and Stray Round. In Phase-I, the seat matrix is displayed on the university website before web options open. Candidates exercise unlimited choices for any number of specialties and colleges. Candidates who participated in Stray rounds of CQ/MQ counselling in 2025-26 and were allotted but did not join are debarred from 2026-27 counselling. Candidates who discontinued their course from 2023-24 onwards are also debarred (list displayed on website). After allotment, selected candidates download their provisional allotment order by paying ₹54,600 University Fee and report to the college by the specified date.

In Phase-II, candidates who were allotted and reported in Phase-I are eligible for upgradation. Candidates not allotted in Phase-I, or allotted but not joined, are also eligible. However, if you did not join your Phase-I allotted seat, that seat is not available for you in Phase-II. Phase-I joined seat becomes your default last option. Candidates upgraded in Phase-II have no claim on their Phase-I seat.

Phase-III (Mop Up) requires a refundable security deposit of ₹3,00,000 from candidates wishing to participate, to prevent seat blocking. Candidates who joined Phase-I or Phase-II are eligible for upgradation up to Phase-III only. If you are allotted in Phase-III, you must compulsorily report and join; failure to do so results in forfeiture of the security deposit and debarment from further counselling. Candidates allotted in Phase-III cannot participate in subsequent Stray rounds. In Stray Round, fresh registrations and fresh choice filling are required; choices from earlier phases are not considered. Candidates already in the merit list but not holding a seat may participate without re-registering.

Critical traps and common rejection reasons

⚠️ **Incomplete applications are rejected outright.** Every mandatory document must be uploaded. Missing even one mandatory certificate (NEET score card, BDS degree, internship certificate, dental registration, Aadhar, photo, signature) will result in rejection. Ensure all files are in the correct format (PDF for certificates, JPG/JPEG for photos and signature) and within size limits (500 KB for PDFs, 100 KB for images).

⚠️ **False or concealed information leads to disqualification and admission cancellation.** If you submit false information or conceal relevant facts, you will be disqualified for admission. If already admitted, your admission will be cancelled and disciplinary action will be taken. Legal proceedings may be initiated. This applies to false documents, false NRI status, false blood relationship, false employment details, or any misrepresentation.

⚠️ **Permanent Dental Registration is mandatory if your BDS is from outside India.** If you have a foreign BDS, you must have Permanent Registration with the Dental Council of India or a state dental council. Temporary registration is not acceptable. Equivalency verification fee must be paid and is non-refundable.

⚠️ **Internship must be completed by 31 May 2026.** If your internship completion date is after 31 May 2026, you are ineligible. The internship completion certificate must clearly show the completion date.

⚠️ **NRI blood relationship must be proven with a Family Tree Certificate from the Competent Revenue Authority.** A simple declaration is not enough. The certificate must show the exact relationship (uncle, aunt, cousin, etc.) and must be issued by the Revenue Department. Without this, your NRI application will be rejected.

⚠️ **Declaration of Blood Relative (Annexure-I) must be signed by BOTH the candidate and the NRI.** If only one signature is present, the document is invalid. Both signatures must be original (not photocopied or scanned from an unsigned document).

⚠️ **You cannot change your S2 (NRI) or S3 (Institutional) category preference after the merit list is published.** If you initially applied as S1 and later want to apply as S2 or S3, you can only do so before the commencement of the next phase. Once a phase begins, no category changes are allowed.

⚠️ **If you do not join your Phase-I or Phase-II allotted seat, that seat is blocked for you in all subsequent phases.** You cannot exercise options for that seat again. This rule prevents seat blocking and ensures fairness.

Seat matrix: How many seats are available?

The prospectus includes a detailed seat matrix showing the total number of MDS seats available in each specialty at each private dental college in Andhra Pradesh for 2026-27, broken down by Competent Authority Quota (CQ) and Management Quota (MQ). A total of 421 MDS seats are available across all participating colleges: 236 under CQ and 185 under MQ. Academic regulations: What you must know before joining

MDS degree courses are 3 years; MDS diploma courses are 2 years. You must maintain 80% attendance in each calendar year (all 365 days counted as working days) to be eligible to appear for university exams. Absences beyond 30 days per year (including maternity leave) will extend your study period. You are allowed 30 days leave per year and cannot take more than 8 consecutive days off. Women students can avail maternity leave up to 180 days only once during the entire MDS course, and the study period will be extended accordingly.

You cannot engage in private practice or part-time employment during your postgraduate studies. A maximum of two breaks of study are allowed during the entire course. If you are absent continuously for 91 days or more, you must apply for re-admission through your college principal. You must complete the course within twice the duration (6 years for a 3-year degree), or you will not be permitted to re-admit. You must register your dissertation topic within 6 months of commencement and submit it within 2.5 years (or 1.5 years if you received a 1-year exemption). You must present one poster, read one paper at a national/state conference, and publish/accept one research paper to be eligible for the final exam.

All admitted candidates must complete the Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) through the ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology online platform before submitting their thesis synopsis. Successful completion and submission of the BCBR certificate is mandatory to appear in the first-year MDS university exam. After completing your postgraduate course, you must work for one year as a Senior Resident in the institution where you studied (as per G.O.Ms.No.57, HM & FW (C1) Dept., dated 28 April 2023).
