Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi has announced the Stray Round of online counselling for MBBS (Code 103) for the 2026–27 academic session. This is a final opportunity for NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates to secure a seat in Delhi's affiliated medical colleges if they did not get one in the main counselling rounds. The Stray Round uses fresh registration and choice-filling — you cannot carry forward choices from earlier rounds. Admissions are made purely on NEET UG 2026 All India Rank (AIR) and merit. If you are eligible and interested, you must act quickly: registration and choice-filling close on 27 October 2026.

Delhi MBBS Stray Round opens 23 October 2026 for fresh registration and choice-filling; closes 27 October 2026; result declared 27 October 2026 (tentative).

What is the Stray Round and who should apply?

The Stray Round is a final counselling round held after the main rounds of GGSIPU online counselling are complete. It is designed to fill any remaining vacant seats in MBBS programmes across Delhi's affiliated medical colleges. If you qualified in NEET UG 2026 but did not secure a seat in Rounds 1, 2, or 3, or if you did not participate in those rounds, the Stray Round is your last chance to get admission in the 2026–27 session.

Admissions in the Stray Round are made purely on merit — your NEET UG 2026 All India Rank (AIR) and percentile. There is no separate merit list; candidates are allotted seats in order of their rank. This is different from earlier rounds where some seats may have been reserved or filled through state quota. In the Stray Round, all seats are filled on NEET UG 2026 All India Rank merit alone.

Who is NOT eligible for the Stray Round?

The university has clearly listed four categories of candidates who cannot participate in the Stray Round. Understanding these rules is critical — if you fall into any of these groups, your application will be rejected, and you will lose your application fee.

Read the list carefully and check yourself against each criterion before you register.

  • Candidates who did NOT register for the Stray Round at all.
  • Candidates who registered but did NOT fill any choices or preferences for the Stray Round.
  • Candidates who already joined or are holding a seat at the time of Stray Round counselling — either through State Quota (conducted by State Counselling Authorities), Central/All India Quota (conducted by MCC, DGHS, Govt. of India), or any other authority across the country. If you have already been allotted and joined a seat anywhere in India, you are ineligible.
  • Candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 3 of GGSIPU Online Counselling and did not complete the post-allotment process (i.e., did not join or report to the college). If you were allotted in Round 3 but did not join, you cannot participate in the Stray Round.

Who IS eligible for the Stray Round?

All candidates who do NOT fall into the four ineligible categories above are eligible for the Stray Round. This includes candidates who participated in earlier rounds but were not allotted a seat, as well as candidates who did not participate in earlier rounds at all. The key requirement is that you must have qualified in NEET UG 2026 and must not currently hold a seat anywhere in India.

Important eligibility criteria you must meet

Beyond the four ineligibility rules, there are several other eligibility criteria that apply to all candidates in the Stray Round. These are non-negotiable — if you do not meet them, your seat will be cancelled and all fees forfeited.

First, you must have secured the minimum required Cut Off percentile and score in NEET UG 2026 as per NMC (National Medical Commission), DCI (Dental Council of India), or NCISM regulations. The exact cutoff varies by category (General, OBC, SC, ST) and is set by the national regulator. Check the GGSIPU website or the NMC website to confirm your category's cutoff before you apply.

Second, since Class 12 results have now been declared, you must upload your Class 12 marksheet (or qualifying examination marksheet) to prove your eligibility. This is mandatory. If you have a valid Reserved Category Certificate (for SC, ST, OBC, or other reserved categories), you must also upload that. If your documents are invalid or missing, your seat will be cancelled.

Third, if you studied Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized school or college in Delhi and passed your qualifying exam from a Delhi school or college only, you are eligible for the Delhi Category Quota. If you studied outside Delhi, you are not eligible for Delhi Category Quota seats — you can only compete for open merit seats. The notice makes clear that candidates must upload both Class 11 and Class 12 marksheets in a single PDF file to prove their eligibility for Delhi Category Quota.

Fourth, candidates with a 'compartment' (a failed subject that must be retaken) in their qualifying exam will NOT be considered for admission. If you have a compartment, you are ineligible.

Important dates and schedule

The Stray Round follows a tight schedule. All key activities happen between 23 October and 27 October 2026. Mark these dates in your calendar and do not miss any deadline — there are no extensions.

Documents you must upload — complete checklist

Before you register or fill choices, gather all required documents. You will need to upload them during the registration or correction window (23–27 October 2026). Missing or incorrect documents are the most common reason applications are rejected. The notice specifies exactly what you must upload.

Every candidate must upload the following:

  • Educational Testimonials: Your Class 12 marksheet (or qualifying examination marksheet). If you are claiming Delhi Category Quota, you must upload BOTH Class 11 and Class 12 marksheets in a single PDF file.
  • NEET UG 2026 Score Card: Your official NEET UG 2026 score card showing your All India Rank (AIR), percentile, and marks.
  • Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable): If you belong to SC, ST, OBC, or any other reserved category, you must upload a valid Reserved Category Certificate issued by the competent authority. This certificate must clearly show your category and sub-category (if any). Without this, your reserved category claim will not be considered.
  • Proof of Category and Region: If you are claiming Delhi Category Quota, you must prove that you studied Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized school/college in Delhi AND passed your qualifying exam from a Delhi school/college. Upload both marksheets as proof.

How to register and fill choices — step-by-step process

The Stray Round uses a fresh registration and choice-filling process. You cannot carry forward choices from earlier rounds — you must register and fill choices again, even if you participated in Rounds 1, 2, or 3.

Here is what you need to do:

  • Step 1: Visit the GGSIPU online counselling portal (https://ipu.admissions.nic.in or www.ipu.ac.in) between 23 and 27 October 2026.
  • Step 2: If you have not already registered, complete Fresh Registration. You will need your NEET UG 2026 roll number, date of birth, and other basic details. Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 2,500.
  • Step 3: Upload all required documents (Class 12 marksheet, NEET score card, Reserved Category Certificate if applicable) during the correction/edit window (23–27 October 2026, 12:00 noon to 12:00 noon).
  • Step 4: Correct or edit your application form, specifically your Category, Sub-Category, and Region (if you studied in Delhi or outside Delhi). This is critical — if you claim Delhi Category Quota, you must select that region and upload proof.
  • Step 5: Fill your choices/preferences for colleges and seats. You can rank colleges in order of your preference. The system will allot you a seat based on your rank and your choices. Choice-filling closes at 12:30 p.m. on 27 October 2026 — do not miss this deadline.
  • Step 6: After 27 October 2026, the result will be declared (tentatively on 27 October 2026). Check the portal for your allotment.
  • Step 7: If you are allotted a seat, you must join the college as per the instructions that will be notified by the university on 27 October 2026. The detailed procedure will be announced separately.

Application fee and payment

The application fee for the Stray Round is Rs. 2,500 (non-refundable). This fee must be paid at the time of registration. Once paid, it cannot be refunded, even if you do not get a seat or if your application is rejected due to incorrect documents. Make sure you have the correct amount ready before you start registration.

Critical trap: Delhi domicile and Class 11–12 location rules

One of the most common reasons applications are rejected is incorrect or missing proof of Delhi domicile for Delhi Category Quota. Read this section carefully.

If you studied Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized school or college in Delhi AND passed your qualifying exam from a Delhi school or college, you are eligible for Delhi Category Quota seats. These seats are reserved for Delhi residents and are typically easier to secure than open merit seats.

However, if you studied Classes 11 and 12 outside Delhi (even if you live in Delhi now), you are NOT eligible for Delhi Category Quota. You can only compete for open merit seats, which are more competitive.

The notice explicitly states: 'Candidates who have studied 10+2 (11th and 12th) from a recognized School/College in Delhi and passed the qualifying examination from any School/College located in Delhi only shall be eligible for the seats of Delhi Category/Quota.' This is strict — both your school location AND your exam location must be in Delhi.

When you fill your application, you must select the correct region (Delhi or Outside Delhi) based on where you studied. If you select Delhi Category but your documents show you studied outside Delhi, your application will be rejected. Upload both Class 11 and Class 12 marksheets in a single PDF to prove your eligibility.

Reserved category certificate — what is accepted and what is not

If you belong to a reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, or other category recognized by the government), you must upload a valid Reserved Category Certificate. The certificate must be issued by the competent authority (usually the District Magistrate or Tehsildar in your state).

The certificate must clearly show your category and, if applicable, your sub-category. For example, if you are OBC, the certificate should specify whether you are OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) or OBC-CL (Creamy Layer). If the certificate does not show this, it may be rejected.

If you do not upload a valid Reserved Category Certificate, you will be treated as a General category candidate, even if you belong to a reserved category. This could significantly affect your rank and chances of getting a seat. Do not skip this step.

What happens after the result is declared?

The result of the Stray Round will be declared on 27 October 2026 (tentatively). Once the result is out, the university will notify the detailed procedure for joining the allotted seat. This procedure will be announced separately on 27 October 2026.

If you are allotted a seat, you must join the college as per the instructions. Failure to join within the specified time will result in forfeiture of your seat. The exact joining date and procedure will be provided in the separate notification.

Your responsibility: verify all information before submitting

The notice makes clear that it is your sole responsibility to ensure that all information you provide is correct and that you meet all eligibility criteria. If at any stage of the admission process your information is found to be incorrect or false, your admission will be cancelled and all fees will be forfeited. There is no appeal or refund.

Before you submit your application, double-check: your NEET score, your category, your region (Delhi or outside), your Class 12 marksheet, your Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable), and your college choices. A small mistake can cost you your seat.

Frequently asked questions

I did not get a seat in Rounds 1, 2, or 3 of GGSIPU counselling. Can I apply for the Stray Round?

Yes, if you qualified in NEET UG 2026 and did not get a seat in earlier rounds, you are eligible for the Stray Round. However, you must register and fill choices again — you cannot carry forward choices from earlier rounds. Registration and choice-filling are open from 23 to 27 October 2026.

I already have a seat in another college (outside Delhi or through another counselling). Can I participate in the Stray Round?

No. If you are already holding or have joined a seat at any college in India — whether through State Quota, Central/All India Quota, or any other authority — you are ineligible for the Stray Round. The university will cancel your application if you try to participate.

What is the application fee, and is it refundable?

The application fee is Rs. 2,500 and is non-refundable. Once you pay it, you cannot get it back, even if you do not get a seat or if your application is rejected.

I studied Class 11 and 12 outside Delhi but live in Delhi now. Can I apply for Delhi Category Quota?

No. Delhi Category Quota is only for candidates who studied Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized school/college in Delhi AND passed their qualifying exam from a Delhi school/college. If you studied outside Delhi, you can only compete for open merit seats. You must select 'Outside Delhi' as your region when you apply.

What documents do I need to upload?

You must upload: (1) Class 12 marksheet (or qualifying exam marksheet); if claiming Delhi Category Quota, upload both Class 11 and 12 marksheets in one PDF; (2) NEET UG 2026 score card; (3) Reserved Category Certificate if you belong to SC, ST, OBC, or another reserved category. All documents must be uploaded during the correction window (23–27 October 2026).

I have a compartment in my Class 12. Am I eligible?

No. Candidates with a compartment (a failed subject that must be retaken) in their qualifying exam are not eligible for admission. You must have passed all subjects without any compartment.

When will the result be declared, and what do I do if I get a seat?

The result will be declared on 27 October 2026 (tentatively). If you are allotted a seat, the university will notify the detailed joining procedure on the same day. You must join the college as per the instructions provided. Failure to join within the specified time will result in forfeiture of your seat.

Can I change my choices after I submit them?

The notice does not explicitly state whether you can edit choices after submission. However, it does allow correction and editing of your application form and documents until 27 October 2026 (12:00 noon). Choice-filling closes at 12:30 p.m. on 27 October 2026. It is safest to assume you cannot change choices after the deadline, so fill them carefully the first time.

What is the minimum NEET score required?

You must have secured the minimum required Cut Off percentile and score in NEET UG 2026 as per NMC, DCI, or NCISM regulations. The exact cutoff varies by category (General, OBC, SC, ST). Check the GGSIPU website or NMC website for your category's cutoff before you apply.

If my application is rejected due to incorrect documents, can I get my fee back?

No. The application fee of Rs. 2,500 is non-refundable. If your application is rejected at any stage due to incorrect or false information, you will lose the fee and your admission will be cancelled. Make sure all your documents are correct before you submit.

I was allotted a seat in Round 3 but did not join. Can I apply for the Stray Round?

No. If you were allotted a seat in Round 3 of GGSIPU counselling and did not complete the post-allotment process (i.e., did not join or report to the college), you are ineligible for the Stray Round.

Where do I register and fill choices?

Register and fill choices on the GGSIPU online counselling portal at https://ipu.admissions.nic.in or www.ipu.ac.in. The portal will be open from 23 to 27 October 2026. Choice-filling closes at 12:30 p.m. on 27 October 2026.
