What is the Stray Vacancy Round and who should apply?

The Stray Vacancy Round is the last phase of UGMAC 2026 counselling. It exists to fill seats — in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and BUMS programmes — that were not taken up by candidates in earlier rounds. These may be seats that were offered but rejected, or positions that remained unallocated after the main and supplementary phases concluded.

You are eligible to apply if you hold a valid NEET UG 2026 scorecard, meet UGMAC eligibility criteria, and fall into one of these categories: you were registered with BCECEB but did not receive a seat in previous rounds; you were allotted a seat but chose not to join; or you are a fresh candidate (if the official notice permits). You must also have Bihar domicile proof as required by the board.

  • Candidates who remained unallotted after main and supplementary rounds
  • Candidates who were allotted but did not report to the college
  • Candidates with valid NEET UG 2026 scorecard and Bihar domicile
  • Fresh candidates (subject to board rules and official notice)

Critical dates: when to register, fill choices, and report

The timeline for the Stray Round is compressed. Registration and choice filling open today (19 October) and close on 21 October at 11:59 PM. Registration is entirely online through the BCECEB portal at bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. You will log in using your UGMAC user ID and password (the same credentials you used for earlier rounds). The process involves filling an online application form, paying the counselling fee and refundable security deposit, and then selecting and locking your college and course preferences.

Before you start, ensure you have scanned copies of all required documents ready for upload, and that you have arranged payment via debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. Download and print your confirmation page after completing registration — keep this for your records and for reporting to the college.

Fee structure: what you will pay

The counselling fee and security deposit vary by category and college type. For government medical colleges, the counselling fee is ₹1,200 for General/OBC candidates and ₹600 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. For private colleges, all candidates pay ₹1,200. The security deposit is refundable and depends on the college sector: ₹10,000 for government medical colleges (₹5,000 for SC/ST/PwD), ₹2,00,000 for private medical colleges, and ₹50,000 for private dental colleges.

The security deposit is returned after the counselling process ends, provided you either join an allotted seat or do not receive any allotment. Keep proof of payment for your records. Plan your finances accordingly, as you must pay both the non-refundable counselling fee and the refundable deposit upfront during registration.

  • Counselling fee (Government College): ₹1,200 (General/OBC), ₹600 (SC/ST/PwD)
  • Counselling fee (Private College): ₹1,200 (all categories)

Documents you must have ready for verification

Prepare scanned copies of all key documents before you register. These will be uploaded during the online process. Original documents will be verified when you report to your allotted college. Missing or incomplete documentation can delay or jeopardize your admission, so double-check everything.

Essential documents include your NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard, Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates, a Bihar domicile certificate issued by the competent authority, and your Aadhaar card. If you belong to a reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, or EBC), bring the relevant category certificate. If you are a person with disability (PwD), bring your PwD certificate. Also have a recent passport-size photograph ready.

Why this is your final chance and what happens if you miss it

The Stray Vacancy Round is the last admission phase under UGMAC 2026. Any seats that remain unfilled after this round will stay vacant for the academic session — they will not be carried forward or reopened. If you do not register and secure a seat now, you will not have another opportunity to join a state medical or dental college in Bihar for 2026.

This is particularly important if you were unallotted in earlier rounds or if you were allotted but did not join. Skipping this round means losing your shot at a medical seat in the state for this cycle. The window is short and the stakes are high, so treat this as urgent.

  • Stray Round is the final admission phase for UGMAC 2026
  • Unfilled seats after this round will remain vacant for the session
  • No further rounds or reopening of seats will occur
  • Missing the deadline means no state medical seat for 2026

Checking the seat matrix and making informed choices

The seat matrix — showing the number of available seats in each college, course, and category — was posted on 18 October 2026 on the BCECEB website. Before you register, visit bceceboard.bihar.gov.in and review the seat matrix carefully. This will help you understand which colleges have vacancies and in which courses, so you can make informed choices during the choice-filling stage.

When filling your choices, rank colleges and courses in order of your preference. Remember that seat allotment is based on your NEET rank, category, and the choices you submit. Lock your choices only after you are certain of your preferences — you cannot change them after the deadline.

What to do after you receive your allotment

Once the provisional seat allotment result is published on 24 October, download your allotment order from the portal (24–26 October). Check which college and course you have been allotted. Then, on 25–26 October, report to your allotted college with all original documents for verification and admission. Bring your confirmation page, NEET scorecard, domicile certificate, category certificate (if applicable), and all other required originals.

Arrive on time and complete the document verification process. Once verified, you will be formally admitted to the college. If you do not report within the specified dates, your seat may be cancelled and offered to the next candidate on the merit list.

  • Download provisional allotment order on 24–26 October from the portal
