Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot — the body that runs Punjab's NEET UG state counselling — has issued a follow-up public notice naming 14 more candidates who are barred from Punjab's 85% State Quota MBBS/BDS seats for the 2026-27 academic session. This is a continuation of an earlier notice dated 28.08.2026. The reason in every case is the same: these candidates applied for Punjab's state quota counselling while also applying for state quota counselling in another state or union territory. BFUHS says this breaks a specific condition (Clause 18) of the Punjab Government's notification dated 10.07.2026, and has removed them from consideration for the Punjab quota. This is not a result or a merit list — it is a disqualification/debarment notice.
If you applied for Punjab's 85% State Quota and also applied for another state's/UT's state quota at the same time, you can be permanently debarred from the Punjab quota — and if you applied to more than one other state besides Punjab, even a provisional seat allotment can be cancelled.
What BFUHS has announced
BFUHS verified applications for Punjab's 85% State Quota (the seats Punjab fills through its own counselling, as opposed to the 15% All India Quota) and found that certain candidates had also registered for state quota counselling in a different state or union territory. Under the rules that govern Punjab's state quota, a candidate cannot do both at the same time.
This is the second such list — an earlier notice on 28.08.2026 already debarred a first batch of candidates on the same grounds. This notice adds 14 more names to that debarred list for the same reason.
The rule that was broken: Clause 18
Punjab's State Quota counselling operates under a Government of Punjab notification dated 10.07.2026. Clause 18 of that notification lays down conditions a candidate must follow to be eligible for the 85% Punjab State Quota — one of these conditions is that the candidate should not simultaneously be pursuing state quota counselling/admission in another state or UT.
BFUHS cross-checked candidate records and found the 14 candidates listed below had, in addition to applying in Punjab, also applied against the state quota of another state — for example, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, J&K, Assam, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh/Chhattisgarh, as shown against each candidate's NEET roll number.

What debarment actually means for these candidates
Debarment means BFUHS will not consider these candidates for any Punjab State Quota MBBS/BDS seat for the 2026-27 session, regardless of their NEET rank or merit position within Punjab. This is separate from — and in addition to — whatever action the other state where they also applied may take against their application there.
BFUHS has also given a stricter warning for a related but different situation: if a candidate is found to have applied for state quota seats in more than one state or union territory OTHER than Punjab (i.e., in two or more non-Punjab states at once), their provisional seat allotment can be cancelled outright, on top of any other action allowed under law, the counselling rules, or the admission prospectus.
Why this trap matters — and how to avoid it
Many NEET UG candidates apply to multiple state counselling boards hoping to maximise their chances of getting an MBBS/BDS seat. This notice is a reminder that state quota counselling is usually meant to be tied to your home state (or the state where you meet domicile/residence criteria), and most states — including Punjab — do not allow you to simultaneously chase another state's own quota seats through their separate counselling process.
The All India Quota (15% AIQ, counselled by MCC) is different — every eligible candidate can participate in that regardless of home state. The restriction in this notice is only about STATE quota seats, where holding parallel applications in two different states' own quotas is treated as a rule violation.
