What is this merit list and why does it matter?

This is the final, revised priority list of candidates eligible for MBBS and BDS admission under Andhra Pradesh's sports quota for 2026-27. The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has prepared this list based on candidates' sporting achievements, NEET scores, and performance in a mandatory skill test held on 28 September 2026.

The list has been revised following multiple High Court orders (dated 14 October 2026 and earlier) that directed SAAP to reconsider certain candidates' cases and ensure fair evaluation. This is the final list that will be used for counselling and seat allotment.

If your name appears on this list with a priority rank, you are eligible to participate in the sports quota counselling round. Your rank determines the order in which you will be offered seats during counselling.

Who is eligible for sports quota admission?

To be eligible for sports quota MBBS/BDS admission, you must have:

• Qualified NEET UG 2026 with a valid score • Represented Andhra Pradesh or India in a recognized sport at national or state level (as defined by SAAP guidelines) • Submitted valid sports achievement certificates issued by the recognized sports authority • Attended and passed the mandatory skill test conducted on 28 September 2026 • Submitted all required documents (Form II, Form IV, sports certificates, NEET admit card, etc.) within the prescribed deadline

Candidates are ranked in two categories: Individual (single-sport athletes) and Team (team-sport athletes). Your category is shown in the merit list. Some candidates are marked 'NE' (Not Eligible) with specific reasons—these candidates cannot proceed to counselling.

How to find your name and rank on the list

The merit list contains 208 entries, each showing: Serial number, NEET rank, NEET score, NEET roll number, candidate name, sport/discipline, sports achievement details, category (Individual or Team), and final priority rank.

To locate yourself: (1) Search by your NEET roll number or name in the table. (2) Note your serial number and final priority rank. (3) Check the 'Remarks' column for any notes about your eligibility or status. (4) If marked 'NE' (Not Eligible), read the remark carefully to understand why.

Candidates ranked 1–84 are eligible and will be called for counselling in priority order. Candidates ranked 85 onwards are marked 'NE' with reasons such as: not attending the skill test, invalid certificates, certificates older than 3 years, ineligible sports discipline, or missing required documents.

Understanding the 'Remarks' column—why some candidates are marked NE

The 'Remarks' column explains why a candidate is eligible (with a rank) or ineligible (marked 'NE'). Common reasons for ineligibility include:

• **Not attended skill test conducted on 28 Sep 2026**: You did not appear for the mandatory skill test. Without passing this test, you cannot be admitted under sports quota, even if your sports certificates are valid. • **Certificates older than 3 years**: Sports achievement certificates must be dated within 3 years of the notification date (16 October 2026). Older certificates are not accepted. • **District-level or ineligible certificates**: Only national and state-level sports achievements are recognized. District-level, regional, or association-level certificates that are not recognized by SAAP are rejected. • **Missing or invalid documents**: Form II, Form IV, or backup certificates not submitted or invalid. • **Sport not recognized by SAAP**: Some sports (e.g., CISCE sports, DAV sports, certain martial arts) are not recognized by SAAP for quota purposes. • **Sub-junior or junior category not eligible**: Achievements in sub-junior categories do not qualify for senior-level MBBS/BDS admission.

If you are marked 'NE', you cannot appeal through this list. However, if you believe there is an error, you may file a petition to the High Court or contact SAAP directly with supporting evidence.

What happens next if you are eligible?

If your name appears on the list with a priority rank (1–84), you are eligible for counselling. SAAP and NTRUHS will announce the counselling schedule separately. Counselling will proceed in priority order: candidates with lower rank numbers are called first.

During counselling, you will: (1) Report to the designated counselling centre with original documents. (2) Verify your eligibility and documents. (3) Choose your preferred college and course (MBBS or BDS) from available sports quota seats. (4) Be allotted a seat based on your priority rank and availability.

Seats available under sports quota are limited and vary by college. Your final seat allotment depends on your rank, your choices, and seat availability. After allotment, you must report to your allotted college and complete admission formalities (fee payment, document submission, hostel registration, etc.) by the deadline set by the college.

Important dates and deadlines

• **Merit list release date**: 16 October 2026 (today) • **Skill test date (already held)**: 28 September 2026 • **Grievance redressal period (already closed)**: 30 September to 7 October 2026 • **High Court orders incorporated**: Up to 14 October 2026

Counselling dates have not yet been announced. SAAP will issue a separate notification with counselling schedule, reporting dates, and venue details. Watch the official SAAP website (www.apsports.in) and NTRUHS website for updates.

Sports disciplines recognized under this quota

The merit list includes candidates from the following sports: Roller Skating, Archery, Shooting, Fencing, Kho-Kho, Hockey, Softball, Basketball, Badminton, Ball Badminton, Table Tennis, Swimming, Cycling, Boxing, Athletics, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Chess, Volleyball, Handball, Football, Cricket, and others.

Achievements must be from national or state-level competitions recognized by the respective sports federation or SAAP. School-level, district-level, or unrecognized association competitions do not qualify.

How the merit list was prepared

SAAP followed a multi-step process: (1) Candidates submitted sports achievement certificates and required forms. (2) Physical verification was conducted. (3) A skill test was held on 28 September 2026 to assess sports proficiency. (4) A tentative priority list was released on 30 September 2026 for grievance redressal. (5) Grievances were invited and redressed by 7 October 2026. (6) The scrutiny committee finalized the list on 9 October 2026. (7) High Court orders (dated up to 14 October 2026) were incorporated, directing reconsideration of specific candidates.

This revised final list reflects all corrections, grievance redressal, and High Court directions. It is now ready for counselling.

Common mistakes that led to ineligibility

Many candidates were marked 'NE' (Not Eligible) due to preventable errors. Learn from these to avoid similar issues:

• **Not attending the skill test**: This was mandatory. Absence = automatic ineligibility, regardless of sports certificates. • **Submitting old certificates**: Certificates older than 3 years from the notification date are rejected. Always check the certificate issue date. • **Submitting district-level certificates only**: Only national and state-level achievements count. District-level certificates alone are insufficient. • **Missing Form II or Form IV**: These forms are mandatory. Incomplete or unsigned forms lead to rejection. • **Submitting certificates from unrecognized associations**: SAAP recognizes only official sports federations and government-recognized bodies. Certificates from private clubs or unrecognized associations are rejected. • **Participating in ineligible sports**: Some sports (e.g., CISCE sports, DAV sports, certain martial arts) are not recognized by SAAP for quota purposes. • **Submitting backup certificates without originals**: Backup certificates (photocopies or digital copies) are not accepted; originals are mandatory.

What if you disagree with the merit list?

If you believe there is an error in your ranking or eligibility status, you have limited options at this stage:

• **If marked 'NE' and you believe it is wrong**: File a petition to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh with supporting evidence (original certificates, proof of participation, etc.). The High Court has already intervened in several cases (as noted in the merit list), so precedent exists. • **If ranked but believe your rank is incorrect**: Contact SAAP directly with evidence. However, the final list is now closed for grievances; further changes require High Court intervention. • **Do not delay**: If you plan to challenge, act quickly. Counselling will begin soon, and once seats are allotted, reversals become difficult.

Frequently asked questions

I am on the merit list with a rank. What do I do now?

Congratulations! You are eligible for counselling. Wait for SAAP to announce the counselling schedule (date, time, venue). When announced, report to the counselling centre with all original documents listed in the notice. Bring your NEET admit card, sports certificates, Form II, Form IV, and other required documents. Counselling will proceed in priority order based on your rank.

I am marked 'NE' (Not Eligible). Can I still participate in counselling?

No. 'NE' means you are not eligible for this sports quota round. However, if you believe the decision is wrong, you can file a petition to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh with supporting evidence. The High Court has already intervened in several cases in this merit list, so it is possible to challenge. Act quickly, as counselling will begin soon.

Why was I marked 'NE' for not attending the skill test?

The skill test held on 28 September 2026 was mandatory for all sports quota candidates. It assesses your actual proficiency in your sport. If you did not attend, you are automatically ineligible, regardless of your sports certificates or NEET score. This is a strict requirement and cannot be waived.

My sports certificate is from 2023. Is it still valid?

No. SAAP accepts only certificates dated within 3 years of the notification date (16 October 2026). Certificates from before 16 October 2023 are considered old and are rejected. You must have recent certificates (issued on or after 16 October 2023) to be eligible.

I have a district-level sports certificate. Is it enough?

No. Only national and state-level sports achievements are recognized. District-level certificates alone are not sufficient. You must have participated in and won medals/places in national or state-level competitions recognized by the official sports federation.

When will counselling begin?

The merit list was released on 16 October 2026, but the counselling schedule has not yet been announced. SAAP will issue a separate notification with counselling dates, reporting time, venue, and other details. Check the SAAP website (www.apsports.in) and NTRUHS website regularly for updates.

What if I don't report for counselling on the scheduled date?

If you do not report on the scheduled date and time, you will be considered absent and will forfeit your seat. Your rank will be cancelled, and the next candidate will be called. Always report on time with all original documents.

Can I change my sport or category after being on the merit list?

No. Your sport and category (Individual or Team) are fixed based on your application and the skill test. You cannot change them after the merit list is released. If you wish to apply under a different sport, you would need to apply in a future admission cycle.

I am ranked 150+. Will I get a seat?

Candidates ranked 85 onwards are marked 'NE' (Not Eligible) and cannot participate in counselling. Only candidates ranked 1–84 are eligible. If you are ranked 85 or higher, you are not eligible for this round. Check the 'Remarks' column to understand why.

What documents do I need to bring to counselling?

Bring all original documents: NEET admit card, NEET score card, 10th and 12th certificates, Aadhar card, all sports achievement certificates, Form II, Form IV, caste certificate (if applicable), income certificate (if applicable), and any other document mentioned in the counselling notification. Photocopies or digital copies are not accepted.

Can I choose both MBBS and BDS during counselling?

During counselling, you will be asked to rank your preferences for colleges and courses. You can indicate preference for both MBBS and BDS, but you will be allotted only one seat based on your rank, your choices, and seat availability. Once allotted, you must accept that seat.

What if I don't get a seat in the first counselling round?

If seats remain unfilled after the first round, SAAP may conduct additional counselling rounds. However, this is not guaranteed. If you are not allotted a seat in the first round, you may be called for a second or third round if it is conducted. Wait for further notifications from SAAP.

The revised final sports quota merit list for MBBS and BDS 2026-27 is now live. If your name appears with a rank (1–84), you are eligible for counselling—prepare your documents and watch for the counselling schedule announcement. If you are marked 'NE', review the remarks carefully; if you believe it is an error, consider filing a High Court petition with supporting evidence. Counselling will begin soon, so act quickly.
