If you registered for Maharashtra's state-level NEET UG 2026 medical counselling (known as CAP), a revised provisional merit list, a revised registered-candidate list and a list of rejected candidates have now been published for Round 1. This matters because your rank, category and document status on this list decide whether you can move to choice filling at all. The revision was made to align Maharashtra's schedule with an extension the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) made to the All India Quota process. Anyone in the Maharashtra CAP pool should check their name and details immediately, since there is only a short grievance window before the list becomes final.

Check your name, rank and category on the revised Maharashtra merit list right away and file any correction before the grievance window closes, because the final list locks in just before choice filling opens.

What exactly was released

Maharashtra's Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, which runs the state's medical admission counselling under CAP (Centralised Admission Process), has issued three separate documents for Round 1: a revised provisional merit list, a revised list of registered candidates, and a list of candidates whose applications were rejected.

These are provisional documents, not final. They exist so that candidates can spot errors — wrong category, missing rank, incorrect documents — before the list that will actually be used for seat allotment is published.

Why the schedule was revised

Maharashtra had earlier extended the online document verification stage, pushing its completion to August 23. This adjustment was made because MCC extended its own timeline for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats it administers nationally. Since many candidates apply for both AIQ and state quota seats, states typically re-align their dates whenever MCC shifts its schedule to avoid clashes and confusion.

The remaining steps for Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 CAP Round 1 are tightly packed. Aspirants should mark these dates and set reminders, since counselling schedules rarely allow late entries.

How to check the list and raise a grievance

Candidates need to visit the official counselling portal for the CAP round, click on the provisional merit list link for their group, and open the PDF that appears. Search by name or application number, and verify rank, category, and other personal details carefully — a mismatch here can affect which colleges and seats you become eligible for during choice filling.

If any detail is incorrect, the CET Cell's grievance process must be used within the stated window. Waiting until the final list is out is not an option, because the correction cycle closes before choice filling begins.

  • Visit the official Maharashtra NEET UG counselling website used for CAP Round 1.
  • Open the provisional merit list link for your applicable group.
  • Search for your name or application number in the downloaded PDF.
  • Cross-check NEET UG rank, category, and personal details against your original documents.
  • If there is a discrepancy, submit a grievance before the deadline; do not wait for the final list.

What comes after the merit list

Once grievances are resolved, Maharashtra will release the final merit list along with the seat matrix — the actual list of MBBS and BDS seats available across government and private colleges in the state for this round. Choice filling then opens for a few days, during which candidates rank their preferred colleges and courses.

After choices are locked, the seat allotment result is declared, and allotted candidates must report physically to their college within the given window to confirm admission. Missing this reporting deadline typically forfeits the allotted seat, so candidates should plan travel and document arrangements in advance.
