The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has issued an urgent notice for candidates whose names appear in the State Merit List published on 14 August 2026. The Board has received requests from certain candidates to correct their category and other details. This is a one-time correction window — if your category, caste certificate, or EWS status needs to be corrected, you must resubmit your application by 3 September 2026 with the correct documents. Applications received after this date or without supporting documents will not be accepted. This affects your eligibility for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy rounds of counselling for MBBS, BDS, and B.H.M.S. seats in Jharkhand.

If your name is in the Jharkhand State Merit List (published 14 August 2026) and your category or documents are wrong, you must resubmit your application by 3 September 2026 with corrected details — no exceptions.

JCECEB — Advt. No. 77 dated-01.09.2026 Important Notice regarding correction in State Merit List Based on NEET (UG)-2026 Result — ViewOfficial PDF notice published by JCECEB. Always confirm details against the official document.

What is this notice about?

The Jharkhand JCECEB published a State Merit List on 14 August 2026 based on NEET UG 2026 scores. This list is used to conduct counselling for State Quota seats in MBBS, BDS, and B.H.M.S. courses across Jharkhand.

After the merit list was published, some candidates approached the Board asking for corrections to their category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) and other personal details. The Board has now opened a one-time window to allow these corrections. However, only corrections that follow the Board's rules will be accepted — specifically, only those submitted under Clause 7 of the original advertisement (JCECEB/46/26-47 dated 6 August 2026).

This is a critical opportunity: if your category or documents are incorrect in the merit list, correcting them now can change your counselling rank and seat allocation. If you do not correct them by the deadline, you will be counselled based on the wrong information.

Who needs to resubmit their application?

You need to resubmit your application if your name appears in the State Merit List published on 14 August 2026 AND you have any of the following issues:

Your category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) is incorrectly listed in the merit list. Your caste certificate, OBC certificate, or EWS certificate details are wrong or missing. Your personal information (name, date of birth, contact details) needs correction. You have an EWS certificate that was not properly recognized in the original list.

  • Your category is incorrectly listed
  • Your caste certificate, OBC certificate, or EWS certificate is wrong or missing
  • Your personal information (name, date of birth, contact details) needs correction
  • You have an EWS certificate that was not properly recognized

Critical rule: Which certificates will be accepted?

The Board has made it very clear that only certain types of certificates will be accepted for correction. This is a major trap — submitting the wrong type of certificate will result in your application being rejected.

Accepted certificates are: ST/SC/OBC(NCL)/BCI(NCL)/JLA/A (for EWS) certificates. These must be issued by an Officer not below the level of Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) of the Jharkhand State government.

What this means: If your certificate is from a lower-level officer (tehsildar, block development officer, or any non-government source), it will NOT be accepted. If your EWS certificate does not explicitly state 'A (for EWS)' or is issued by the wrong authority, it will be rejected. Do not submit any other type of certificate — it will waste your correction opportunity.

  • ST/SC/OBC(NCL)/BCI(NCL)/JLA/A (for EWS) certificates only
  • Must be issued by an Officer at Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) level or above in Jharkhand
  • Certificates from lower-level officers or non-government sources will be rejected
  • EWS certificates must explicitly state 'A (for EWS)'

Important dates and deadlines

There is only one deadline for this correction window, and it is absolute — no extensions will be granted.

The Board will scrutinize all applications received on 3 September 2026 and take appropriate action. Applications received after 3 September 2026 will not be entertained under any circumstances.

  • Last date to submit corrected application: 3 September 2026
  • No applications will be accepted after this date
  • No extensions or exceptions

How to submit your corrected application

The process is simple but strict — follow every step exactly as described, or your application will be rejected.

Step 1: Prepare a fresh application clearly stating the correction(s) you are requesting. For example, if your category is wrong, write 'Correction: Category should be OBC instead of General' or 'Correction: EWS certificate to be added'. Be specific about what needs to be changed.

Step 2: Gather all supporting documents that prove your correction is valid. These must be the correct type of certificate (see the 'Critical rule' section above). Scan or photograph them clearly.

Step 3: Send your application and documents via email to controller.jceceb@gmail.com. Do not send to any other email address. Include your name, roll number, and the specific correction(s) requested in the email subject line.

Step 4: Send your email on or before 3 September 2026. The Board will only consider emails received on this date or earlier.

  • Prepare a fresh application clearly stating the correction(s) needed
  • Attach all supporting documents (correct type of certificate only)
  • Send via email to controller.jceceb@gmail.com
  • Include your name, roll number, and correction details in the subject line
  • Send on or before 3 September 2026 — no exceptions

What documents must you attach?

Every application must include the supporting documents that prove your correction is valid. The Board will not accept applications without these documents. If you are correcting your category, you must provide the original certificate or a certified copy.

If you are correcting your EWS status, you must provide your EWS certificate issued by the correct authority (Sub-divisional Officer or above). If you are correcting your caste (SC/ST/OBC), you must provide the caste certificate issued by the correct authority. If you are correcting personal information (name, date of birth), you must provide proof such as your NEET admit card, Aadhaar, or birth certificate.

  • Category correction: Original or certified copy of ST/SC/OBC(NCL)/BCI(NCL)/JLA/A (for EWS) certificate
  • EWS status correction: EWS certificate issued by Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or above
  • Caste correction: Caste certificate issued by the correct authority
  • Personal information correction: NEET admit card, Aadhaar, or birth certificate
  • All certificates must be issued by Jharkhand State government (Sub-divisional Officer level or above)

What happens after you submit your application?

Once you submit your corrected application by 3 September 2026, the Board will scrutinize it. This means they will check whether your correction is valid, whether your documents are correct, and whether you meet the eligibility criteria for the category you are claiming.

If your correction is approved, your name in the State Merit List will be updated with the correct category. This will change your counselling rank and may affect your seat allocation in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy rounds.

If your correction is rejected (for example, because your certificate is from the wrong authority or does not meet the Board's criteria), you will be counselled based on your original category as listed in the merit list. The Board will not notify you separately of rejections — you will only know when counselling begins.

  • Board will scrutinize your application and documents
  • If approved, your merit list entry will be corrected
  • Your corrected category will be used for all counselling rounds
  • If rejected, you will be counselled based on your original category
  • No separate notification of rejection — check your status when counselling begins

Common mistakes that will get your application rejected

Many candidates make errors that result in automatic rejection. Avoid these traps:

Submitting a certificate from the wrong authority (e.g., from a tehsildar, block officer, or any officer below Sub-divisional Officer level). The Board will reject it immediately. Submitting an EWS certificate that does not explicitly state 'A (for EWS)' or is issued by a non-government source. Submitting your application after 3 September 2026, even by one day. The Board has stated 'no request received after the stipulated date shall be entertained under any circumstances.' Sending your application to an email address other than controller.jceceb@gmail.com. Submitting an application without any supporting documents. The Board will not accept it. Submitting a photocopy or screenshot of a certificate instead of a clear scan or photograph of the original. Submitting a correction for a category you are not eligible for (e.g., claiming OBC without an OBC certificate). The Board will reject it during scrutiny.

  • Certificate from wrong authority (below Sub-divisional Officer level) — automatic rejection
  • EWS certificate without 'A (for EWS)' label or from non-government source — rejection
  • Application submitted after 3 September 2026 — will not be entertained
  • Email sent to wrong address — will not be received
  • Application without supporting documents — rejection
  • Unclear or low-quality scans of certificates — may be rejected
  • Claiming a category without valid certificate — rejection during scrutiny

Which courses and seats are affected?

This correction window applies to all State Quota seats in the following courses: MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), B.H.M.S. (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery).

Your corrected category will be used for all four counselling rounds: 1st Round, 2nd Round, 3rd Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. If your category changes, your rank in the merit list will change, which will affect your seat allocation in all these rounds.

  • MBBS (State Quota)
  • BDS (State Quota)
  • B.H.M.S. (State Quota)
  • Applies to all four counselling rounds: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy

Frequently asked questions

My name is in the Jharkhand State Merit List published on 14 August 2026, but my category is wrong. What should I do?

You must submit a fresh application by 3 September 2026 to controller.jceceb@gmail.com clearly stating the correction needed (e.g., 'Category should be OBC instead of General') and attach the correct certificate issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or above in Jharkhand. The Board will scrutinize your application and update your merit list entry if the correction is valid. If you do not submit by 3 September 2026, you will be counselled based on the wrong category.

What type of certificate will the Board accept for category correction?

Only ST/SC/OBC(NCL)/BCI(NCL)/JLA/A (for EWS) certificates issued by an Officer at Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) level or above in Jharkhand State will be accepted. Certificates from lower-level officers (tehsildar, block officer) or non-government sources will be rejected. EWS certificates must explicitly state 'A (for EWS)'. If your certificate does not meet these criteria, your application will be rejected.

I have an EWS certificate, but it does not say 'A (for EWS)' on it. Can I still submit it?

No. The Board has specifically stated that only EWS certificates marked as 'A (for EWS)' will be accepted. If your certificate does not have this label, it will be rejected. You should contact the issuing authority to obtain a corrected certificate with the proper designation before submitting your application.

What is the last date to submit my corrected application?

The last date is 3 September 2026. The Board has stated that 'no request received after the stipulated date or without the requisite supporting documents shall be entertained under any circumstances.' Applications received after 3 September 2026 will not be accepted, even if submitted one day late.

Can I submit my corrected application by post or in person, or must it be by email?

You must submit your application via email to controller.jceceb@gmail.com. The notice does not mention any other method of submission. If you send your application by post or try to submit it in person, it will not be considered.

If my correction is approved, when will my merit list be updated?

The notice does not specify an exact date for when corrections will be processed and the merit list updated. The Board will scrutinize applications received on 3 September 2026 and take appropriate action. You should check the Board's website and your email for updates. Your corrected category will be used for all counselling rounds (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy).

What happens if my correction is rejected?

If your correction is rejected (for example, because your certificate is from the wrong authority or does not meet the Board's criteria), you will be counselled based on your original category as listed in the merit list. The Board will not send you a separate notification of rejection — you will only know when counselling begins and you see your rank based on your original category.

I need to correct my personal information (name, date of birth), not my category. Can I submit a correction?

Yes, you can submit a correction for personal information. You must provide supporting documents such as your NEET admit card, Aadhaar, or birth certificate to prove the correction. Submit your application by 3 September 2026 to controller.jceceb@gmail.com with the corrected information and supporting documents.

Does this correction window apply to MBBS, BDS, and B.H.M.S. courses?

Yes. The correction window applies to State Quota seats in MBBS, BDS, and B.H.M.S. courses. Your corrected category will be used for all four counselling rounds: 1st Round, 2nd Round, 3rd Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

I submitted my application during the original registration, but I did not include my EWS certificate. Can I add it now through this correction window?

Yes, if you have a valid EWS certificate issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or above in Jharkhand and marked as 'A (for EWS)', you can submit it now as a correction. Send your application by 3 September 2026 to controller.jceceb@gmail.com stating 'Correction: EWS certificate to be added' and attach the certificate. The Board will scrutinize your application and update your merit list if the certificate is valid.

What email address should I send my corrected application to?

Send your corrected application to controller.jceceb@gmail.com. Do not send it to any other email address. Include your name, roll number, and the specific correction(s) requested in the subject line of your email.

If I do not submit a correction by 3 September 2026, can I request one later?

No. The Board has stated that this is a one-time correction window. After 3 September 2026, no corrections will be accepted. If you do not submit by the deadline, you will be counselled based on the information currently in the merit list, even if it is incorrect.

If your name is in the Jharkhand State Merit List (published 14 August 2026) and your category, caste certificate, EWS status, or personal information is incorrect, you must act immediately. Prepare your corrected application with the right type of certificate (issued by a Sub-divisional Officer or above in Jharkhand), and email it to controller.jceceb@gmail.com by 3 September 2026. Do not miss this deadline — the Board will not accept applications after this date under any circumstances. Your corrected category will determine your rank in all four counselling rounds, so getting this right now is critical to your seat allocation.
