The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has opened a correction window for candidates whose names appear on the State Merit List published on 7 September 2026 but contain errors. If your personal details, category, or supporting certificates (caste, income, LRC) are wrong on the merit list, you must reapply between 14 and 18 September 2026 with corrected documents. This is a one-time opportunity — applications received after 18 September at 6:00 PM will not be accepted. The board will use only corrected applications that follow the original advertisement rules (Advertisement No. JCECEB/46/26-47 dated 6 August 2026) to update the merit list before counselling rounds begin.

If your name is on Jharkhand's NEET UG 2026 merit list (published 7 Sept) but has errors in category, DOB, gender, name, or certificates, you must reapply with corrected documents by 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM — no exceptions.

JCECEB — Advt. No. 81 dated-12.09.2026 Important Notice regarding correction in State Merit List Based on NEET (UG)-2026 Result — ViewOfficial PDF notice published by JCECEB. Always confirm details against the official document.

What is this correction window and why does it matter?

On 6 August 2026, JCECEB published Advertisement No. JCECEB/46/26-47 to prepare the State Merit List for NEET UG 2026 counselling. This merit list was published on 7 September 2026 and will be used to conduct the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy rounds of online counselling for MBBS, BDS, and BHMS seats under the State Quota.

However, the board has received representations from some candidates pointing out errors in their entries on the published merit list — such as wrong category, date of birth, gender, name, or incorrect or missing certificates. To address this, JCECEB is now allowing a one-time correction window.

This is critical: if your details are wrong on the merit list, your counselling rank and eligibility may be affected. You must correct them now, or you risk being rejected during seat allotment. The board will only consider corrections submitted during this window (14–18 September 2026) that follow the original advertisement rules.

Who is eligible to apply for correction?

You are eligible to apply for correction if your name appears on the State Merit List published on 7 September 2026 AND you have one or more of the following errors:

Any error in your personal details (date of birth, gender, name spelling) or category classification. This includes if you were placed in the wrong category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) or if your category is missing.

Missing or incorrect supporting certificates — specifically your Caste Certificate (if applicable), Income & Assets Certificate, or LRC (Local Resident Certificate) of Jharkhand.

Important: the board will only accept ST/SC/BCI(NCL)/BCII(NCL)/I&A (for EWS) certificates issued by an Officer not below the level of Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) of the Jharkhand State. Certificates from lower-ranking officers will not be accepted. If your certificate does not meet this standard, you must obtain a fresh one before applying.

  • Your name must be on the published merit list (7 September 2026)
  • You must have at least one error in personal details, category, or supporting certificates
  • Your caste/income/EWS certificate must be issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher rank in Jharkhand

Important: Certificate issuing authority rules

The board has clarified a strict rule: ST/SC/BCI(NCL)/BCII(NCL)/I&A (for EWS) certificates will ONLY be accepted if issued by an Officer not below the level of Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) of the Jharkhand State.

This means certificates issued by lower-ranking officers (such as Tehsildar, Patwari, or Block Development Officer) will NOT be accepted, and your application will be rejected. If your current certificate is from a lower authority, you must obtain a fresh certificate from the correct authority (Sub-divisional Officer or above) before submitting your correction application.

Do not delay this step. If you need a new certificate, contact your local Sub-divisional Officer's office immediately. The correction deadline is 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM — there is no extension.

  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/BCI(NCL)/BCII(NCL)): must be issued by Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher
  • Income & Assets Certificate (for EWS): must be issued by Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher
  • LRC (Local Resident Certificate) of Jharkhand: must be issued by Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher
  • Certificates from lower authorities will result in automatic rejection

What corrections can you request?

You can request corrections in the following areas. The board's notice specifically lists these as the types of corrections it will consider:

Personal details: Date of Birth (DOB), Gender, Name (spelling or full name), and any other personal information.

Category and sub-category: If you were placed in the wrong category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) or if your category is missing from the merit list.

Supporting certificates: Caste Certificate, Income & Assets Certificate, and LRC (Local Resident Certificate) of Jharkhand. If any of these are missing, incorrect, or issued by an authority below Sub-divisional Officer level, you can request an update.

The board will only consider corrections that align with the original advertisement (JCECEB/46/26-47 dated 6 August 2026). If your correction request falls outside these categories or violates the original rules, it will be rejected.

  • Date of Birth (DOB)
  • Gender
  • Name and name spelling
  • Category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS)
  • Caste Certificate
  • Income & Assets Certificate
  • LRC (Local Resident Certificate) of Jharkhand

Important dates and deadline

The correction window is open for a very short period. Mark these dates clearly:

Correction application window opens: 14 September 2026

Correction application window closes: 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM (18:00 hours)

No applications will be accepted after 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM under any circumstances. There is no extension, no grace period, and no exceptions. If you miss this deadline, you will not be able to correct your details, and your merit list entry will remain as published.

Plan ahead: if you need to obtain a fresh certificate from the Sub-divisional Officer, do so immediately. Do not wait until the last day.

  • Application window: 14 September 2026 to 18 September 2026
  • Deadline: 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM (no extensions)
  • Submit early — do not wait until the last day

How to apply for correction: step-by-step process

The board has specified a simple but strict process. Follow these steps exactly:

Step 1: Prepare your correction application. Write a fresh application (you will need to reapply entirely) clearly mentioning the required minor correction(s) you are requesting. Specify exactly what needs to be corrected — for example, 'DOB correction from 15-01-2005 to 15-01-2006' or 'Category change from General to OBC'.

Step 2: Gather all supporting documents. Collect the corrected or fresh versions of all documents related to your correction. For example, if you are correcting your caste category, include your Caste Certificate issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher. If correcting DOB, include your birth certificate or 10th-grade mark sheet. If correcting income category, include your Income & Assets Certificate.

Step 3: Send your application via email. Email your fresh application and all supporting documents to: controller.jceceb@gmail.com. The subject line should clearly state your name, roll number, and the type of correction you are requesting.

Step 4: Ensure you submit before the deadline. Your email must be received by 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM. Emails received after this time will not be considered. Keep a copy of your email and the timestamp for your records.

  • Write a fresh application clearly stating the correction(s) needed
  • Gather all supporting documents (certificates, birth certificate, mark sheet, etc.)
  • Email to: controller.jceceb@gmail.com
  • Include your name, roll number, and correction type in the email subject
  • Submit before 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM
  • Keep proof of submission (email timestamp)

Documents you must submit with your correction application

The board's notice does not provide an exhaustive list of documents, but it specifies that you must include 'requisite supporting documents' related to your correction. Based on the types of corrections allowed, here are the documents you will typically need:

For DOB correction: Original or certified copy of your birth certificate, or your 10th-grade mark sheet (which shows DOB).

For gender or name correction: Your birth certificate, Aadhaar card, or 10th-grade mark sheet.

For category or caste correction: Fresh Caste Certificate issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher rank in Jharkhand. The certificate must clearly state your caste and the category (SC/ST/BCI(NCL)/BCII(NCL)).

For EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category: Fresh Income & Assets Certificate issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher rank in Jharkhand.

For LRC (Local Resident Certificate) of Jharkhand: Fresh LRC issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher rank.

Important: do not submit photocopies unless they are certified. The board may reject uncertified copies. If in doubt, obtain certified copies from the issuing authority.

  • Birth certificate (for DOB, gender, or name correction)
  • 10th-grade mark sheet (for DOB, gender, or name correction)
  • Aadhaar card (for gender or name correction)
  • Caste Certificate from Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher (for category correction)
  • Income & Assets Certificate from Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher (for EWS category)
  • LRC (Local Resident Certificate) from Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher (for Jharkhand residency)
  • All documents must be original or certified copies

What happens after you submit your correction application?

Once you submit your correction application by 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM, the board will review it. The board has stated that it will only consider applications that comply with the original advertisement (JCECEB/46/26-47 dated 6 August 2026) and include all requisite supporting documents.

If your application is approved, your details will be corrected in the merit list before the counselling rounds begin. You will be notified of the outcome, though the notice does not specify the exact date or method of notification. Check the JCECEB website (https://jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in) regularly for updates.

If your application is rejected (for example, because your certificate is from an authority below Sub-divisional Officer level, or because you did not include supporting documents), you will not be able to reapply. Your merit list entry will remain as originally published.

The board will use the corrected merit list for all subsequent counselling rounds (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy rounds). If your correction is approved, your new rank and category will be used to determine your eligibility and seat allotment.

  • Board reviews your application against original advertisement rules
  • Approved corrections are updated in the merit list before counselling
  • Check JCECEB website for notification of outcome
  • Rejected applications cannot be resubmitted
  • Corrected merit list is used for all counselling rounds

Common mistakes that will get your application rejected

The board's notice makes clear that applications not meeting specific criteria will be rejected. Here are the most common reasons for rejection:

Submitting a certificate from an authority below Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) level. This is the most critical rule. If your Caste Certificate, Income & Assets Certificate, or LRC is issued by a Tehsildar, Patwari, Block Development Officer, or any lower authority, your application will be rejected automatically. Do not submit such certificates.

Missing supporting documents. The board states that 'no request received after the stipulated date or without the requisite supporting documents shall be entertained under any circumstances.' If you do not include the documents needed to verify your correction, your application will be rejected.

Submitting after the deadline (18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM). The board is explicit: no extensions, no exceptions. If your email arrives even one minute after 6:00 PM, it will not be considered.

Requesting corrections that fall outside the allowed categories (personal details, category, certificates). If you try to correct something else — such as your NEET score, rank, or course preference — your application will be rejected.

Submitting an application that does not comply with the original advertisement (JCECEB/46/26-47 dated 6 August 2026). If your correction violates the rules set out in that advertisement, it will be rejected.

  • ⚠️ Certificate from authority below Sub-divisional Officer level = automatic rejection
  • ⚠️ Missing supporting documents = automatic rejection
  • ⚠️ Submission after 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM = automatic rejection
  • ⚠️ Requesting corrections outside allowed categories = automatic rejection
  • ⚠️ Application not complying with original advertisement rules = automatic rejection

Frequently asked questions

My name is on the merit list published on 7 September 2026, but my category is wrong. Can I correct it?

Yes. If your category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS) is wrong or missing on the merit list, you can request a correction. You must submit a fresh application between 14 and 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM with a fresh Caste Certificate (if applicable) issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher rank in Jharkhand. Email your application and documents to controller.jceceb@gmail.com. No corrections will be accepted after 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM.

What if my Caste Certificate is issued by a Tehsildar or Block Development Officer, not a Sub-divisional Officer?

Your application will be rejected. The board will only accept Caste Certificates (and Income & Assets Certificates, and LRC) issued by an Officer not below the level of Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) of Jharkhand. If your certificate is from a lower authority, you must obtain a fresh certificate from the Sub-divisional Officer's office immediately. Do not submit a certificate from a lower authority — it will result in automatic rejection.

I missed the merit list publication date. Can I still apply for correction?

No. You can only apply for correction if your name appears on the State Merit List published on 7 September 2026. If your name is not on that list, you cannot use this correction window. You would need to contact the board directly to understand why your name is missing.

What is the deadline for submitting my correction application?

The deadline is 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM (18:00 hours). Your email must be received by this time. No applications will be accepted after this deadline under any circumstances — there is no extension or grace period. Submit early to avoid missing the deadline.

I want to correct my date of birth. What documents do I need to submit?

You need to submit your birth certificate or your 10th-grade mark sheet (which shows your date of birth). Submit these along with your correction application via email to controller.jceceb@gmail.com. Make sure to clearly state in your application what your correct date of birth should be.

Can I correct my NEET score or rank using this window?

No. This correction window is only for personal details (DOB, gender, name), category, and supporting certificates (Caste Certificate, Income & Assets Certificate, LRC). You cannot correct your NEET score, rank, or any other information. If you believe there is an error in your NEET score or rank, contact the board directly.

What happens if my correction application is rejected?

If your application is rejected (for example, because your certificate is from an authority below Sub-divisional Officer level, or because you did not include supporting documents), you will not be able to reapply. Your merit list entry will remain as originally published on 7 September 2026. You will not be able to correct it later.

When will I know if my correction has been approved?

The board's notice does not specify the exact date or method of notification. You should check the JCECEB website (https://jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in) regularly for updates. The corrected merit list will be published before the counselling rounds begin. If your correction is approved, your updated details will appear in the new merit list.

I need to get a fresh Caste Certificate from the Sub-divisional Officer. How long will it take?

The time required depends on your local Sub-divisional Officer's office. It can take anywhere from a few days to 2-3 weeks. Since the deadline is 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM, you should contact your Sub-divisional Officer's office immediately and request an urgent certificate. Do not wait — apply as soon as possible.

Can I submit my correction application by post or in person instead of email?

No. The board has specified that you must submit your application via email to controller.jceceb@gmail.com. The notice does not mention any other method of submission. Email is the only accepted method.

If my correction is approved, will my rank in the merit list change?

Possibly. If your correction involves a change in category (for example, from General to SC), your rank may change because the merit list is organized by category. Your new rank will be determined based on your corrected category and the original NEET score. The corrected merit list will be used for all counselling rounds.

What should I write in the subject line of my email?

The board's notice does not specify an exact format, but you should clearly include your name, roll number, and the type of correction you are requesting. For example: 'Correction Request — Name: [Your Name], Roll No: [Your Roll No], Correction: Category Change from General to OBC.' This helps the board identify and process your application quickly.

If your name is on Jharkhand's NEET UG 2026 merit list (published 7 September 2026) and contains errors in personal details, category, or supporting certificates, you must act now. Submit a fresh correction application with all required documents to controller.jceceb@gmail.com between 14 and 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM. Ensure your Caste Certificate, Income & Assets Certificate, or LRC is issued by a Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) or higher — certificates from lower authorities will be rejected. Do not wait until the last day; apply immediately. After 18 September 2026 at 6:00 PM, no corrections will be accepted, and your merit list entry will remain unchanged.
