Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 MBBS Counselling: Dates, Fees & Documents

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has announced the schedule for NEET UG 2026 MBBS counselling. Eligible candidates must submit their online application forms between 9 and 12 August 2026 to be included in the merit list. The board will conduct four rounds of counselling — 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy — across government and private medical colleges in Jharkhand. This notice sets out all eligibility criteria, application deadlines, fees, security deposits, and the complete timeline for seat allotment and admission.

Who Is Eligible to Apply

To apply for MBBS admission through Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 counselling, you must meet two sets of criteria: age and educational qualifications. Both must be satisfied — missing either one will make your application ineligible.

Age: You must have completed 17 years of age by the time of admission, or you must turn 17 on or before 31 December 2026. There is no upper age limit. This means if you are 17 now or will be 17 by 31 December 2026, you are eligible on age grounds.

Education: You must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as separate subjects in your qualifying examination (usually Class 12). You must also have scored a minimum of 50% marks in these three subjects combined. Additionally, you must have obtained a rank in the NEET (UG)-2026 merit list — simply appearing for NEET is not enough; you must have a valid rank to be eligible for counselling.

Special Eligibility Rules for Reserved Categories

If you belong to a Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Other Backward Class (OBC), the minimum marks requirement is lower than for unreserved candidates. This is a significant advantage — you need only 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology combined, instead of 50%.

Similarly, if you are a PwD (Person with Disability) candidate, the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (or Botany & Zoology)/Biotechnology combined is also 40% instead of 50%. These relaxations apply only to the marks requirement; all other eligibility criteria (age, NEET rank, individual subject passes) remain the same.

Important: Even with these relaxations, you must still pass Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology individually — the 40% concession applies only to the combined marks threshold, not to individual subject passes.

Important Dates: Application and Merit List

The application window is short — you have only four days to submit your online form. Applications open on 9 August 2026 and close on 12 August 2026. After this date, no late applications will be accepted. The merit list will be published on 13 August 2026.

If you have already applied for inclusion in the merit list in a previous notification, you do not need to fill the online application form again. Your name will automatically be considered for the subsequent rounds of counselling. This applies only if you have already submitted an application; if you have not, you must apply by 12 August.

How to Apply Online

All applications must be submitted online through the JCECEB website. Visit http://jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in and click on the tab labeled 'Click here for All Online Application Submission – JCECEB 2026'. Fill in all required information carefully — any errors or omissions may lead to rejection.

You will need to pay the registration/application fee and counselling fee at the time of submission. Payment must be made online using a Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking through the payment gateway. These fees are non-refundable, so ensure you are eligible before paying.

After submitting your form, you will receive a confirmation. Keep this confirmation safe — you will need it to log in for choice filling and seat allotment in the counselling rounds. Do not share your login credentials with anyone.

Registration and Counselling Fees

You must pay two separate fees: a registration/application fee and a counselling fee. Both are non-refundable. The amount depends on your category and quota. All payments must be made online through the payment gateway using Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking UPI.

For unreserved candidates (UR/EWS/BC-I/BC-II/SC/ST) who are residents of any region of India except Jharkhand, the registration fee is ₹500 and the counselling fee is ₹1,000. For unreserved candidates who are local residents of Jharkhand, the fees are the same: ₹500 registration and ₹1,000 counselling.

SC/ST candidates who are local residents of Jharkhand pay a reduced registration fee of ₹250 and counselling fee of ₹500. Female candidates of all categories (both local and non-local residents) pay ₹250 registration and ₹500 counselling. Divyang (PwD) candidates of all categories pay no registration fee but must pay ₹500 counselling fee.

The Four Counselling Rounds: Schedule and Process

Jharkhand MBBS counselling consists of four separate rounds: 1st Round, 2nd Round, 3rd Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. Each round follows the same basic process: choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and admission. However, the dates differ for each round. New candidates can apply in the 2nd, 3rd, and Stray Vacancy rounds if they did not apply in the 1st round.

In each round, you will fill your choice of colleges and courses online. The board will then allot seats based on your rank, choices, and availability. You will receive a provisional seat allotment letter, which you must download. You then attend document verification at your allotted college, where you must present original certificates. If all documents are in order, you will be admitted.

Important: If you do not report for admission after receiving a seat allotment in the 2nd Round or any subsequent round, your security deposit (explained below) will be forfeited. This is a strict rule — do not accept a seat unless you are ready to join immediately.

1st Round Counselling: Dates and Timeline

The 1st Round is the first opportunity to secure a seat. Choice filling begins on 13 August 2026 and closes on 20 August 2026. You must fill your choices within this window. Seat allotment will be announced on 22 August 2026, and you can download your provisional allotment letter between 22 and 28 August 2026.

Document verification and admission at your allotted college will take place from 23 to 28 August 2026. You must attend during this period with all original certificates. If you do not report, you will lose your seat and your security deposit will be forfeited.

2nd Round Counselling: Dates and Timeline

The 2nd Round begins after the 1st Round is complete. New candidates who did not apply in the 1st Round can submit their online application forms between 25 and 28 August 2026. The merit list for the 2nd Round will be published on 30 August 2026, and the vacant seat matrix will be displayed on 31 August 2026.

Choice filling for the 2nd Round starts on 31 August 2026 and closes on 6 September 2026. Provisional seat allotment letters will be issued between 8 and 14 September 2026. Document verification and admission will occur from 9 to 14 September 2026. Remember: if you do not report for admission after receiving a seat in the 2nd Round, your security deposit will be forfeited.

3rd Round Counselling: Dates and Timeline

The 3rd Round is the third opportunity to secure a seat. New candidates can apply between 11 and 13 September 2026. The merit list for the 3rd Round will be published on 15 September 2026, and the vacant seat matrix will be displayed on the same day.

Choice filling for the 3rd Round runs from 16 to 24 September 2026. Provisional seat allotment letters will be issued between 26 September and 1 October 2026. Document verification and admission will take place from 27 September to 1 October 2026.

Stray Vacancy Round: Dates and Timeline

The Stray Vacancy Round is the final opportunity to fill any remaining seats. New candidates can apply between 28 and 30 September 2026. The merit list for the Stray Vacancy Round will be published on 2 October 2026, and the vacant seat matrix will be displayed on the same day.

Choice filling for the Stray Vacancy Round runs from 3 to 4 October 2026. Provisional seat allotment letters will be issued between 5 and 10 October 2026. Document verification and admission will take place from 6 to 10 October 2026. This is the last round — after this, no further counselling will be conducted.

Security Deposit: Amount, Forfeiture, and Refund

When you are allotted a seat, you must pay a security deposit to the college. This is separate from the registration and counselling fees you paid earlier. The security deposit amount depends on the type of college (government or private) and the course (MBBS or BDS). For government medical colleges, the deposit is ₹20,000 for unreserved/EWS candidates and ₹10,000 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates. For private medical colleges, the deposit is ₹2,10,000 (2.1 lakh). For government dental colleges, it is ₹10,000 for unreserved/EWS and ₹5,000 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD. Private dental colleges require ₹1,10,000 (1.1 lakh). For stray/mop-up seats, the deposit is ₹50,000 across all college types.

Your security deposit will be forfeited (not returned) if: (1) you do not report for admission after receiving a seat allotment in the 2nd Round or any subsequent round, or (2) your admission is cancelled because you provided false information during registration, or (3) you do not present the required original certificates at the time of admission. These are strict rules — once forfeited, the deposit is lost.

Your security deposit will be refunded if you are allotted a seat and actually take admission at any stage of counselling. The refund will be credited to the bank account from which you made the payment, within 3 months after the last round of counselling ends.

Colleges Included in This Counselling

This counselling covers MBBS admission to the following government and private medical colleges in Jharkhand: Laxmi Chandravansi Medical College & Hospital (Bishrampur), Palamu Medical College (Palamu), Neelkantha Subhas Medical College and Hospital (Adityapur), and Seraikela-Kharsawan Medical College. These are the only colleges participating in this round of counselling. If you are interested in any of these colleges, you must fill them in your choice list during the choice-filling window for each round.

Additionally, NRI quota seats are available in these colleges. If you are an NRI candidate, you will need to fill a separate application format and produce original certificates at the time of admission. NRI candidates follow a different process — contact the board for specific NRI counselling guidelines.

Critical Traps: What Gets Your Application Rejected

Your application will be rejected if you do not meet the eligibility criteria. The most common reasons are: (1) you do not have a valid NEET rank — simply appearing for NEET is not enough; you must have a rank in the merit list, (2) you did not pass Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as individual subjects, (3) you scored less than 50% marks (or 40% if SC/ST/OBC/PwD) in these three subjects combined, or (4) you will not be 17 years old by 31 December 2026.

At the time of admission, your admission will be cancelled if: (1) you do not present original certificates — photocopies are not accepted, (2) your certificates show false or misleading information, (3) you provided wrong information in your online application form, or (4) you do not have the required category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/Divyang) if you applied under a reserved category. These are grounds for immediate cancellation and forfeiture of your security deposit.

Do not make these mistakes: Do not apply if you do not have a NEET rank. Do not claim a category (SC/ST/OBC/Divyang) unless you have a valid certificate. Do not provide false information about your marks, subjects, or age. Do not skip document verification — if you do not attend, you lose your seat and your security deposit. Do not accept a seat unless you are ready to join immediately, especially from the 2nd Round onwards, because non-reporting forfeits your deposit.
