If you registered for Himachal Pradesh's state quota MBBS/BDS seats through NEET UG 2026, take note: Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), which conducts this counselling, has revised its Round 1 schedule. The final merit list, choice filling window, and seat allotment dates have all been pushed to new dates on the official portal amruhp.ac.in. Since every later step — choice locking, provisional allotment, final allotment, and college reporting — depends on this merit list date, aspirants and parents tracking HP counselling should update their calendars immediately. This matters because missing even one date in a compressed counselling window can cost a candidate their preferred seat.

AMRU has revised the HP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling calendar, so candidates must recheck every date on amruhp.ac.in rather than relying on the schedule they may have noted earlier.

What changed and why it matters

AMRU, the body that runs Himachal Pradesh's state quota counselling for MBBS and BDS seats, has issued a fresh timeline for Round 1 that supersedes whatever dates it had announced earlier. Registered candidates now need to go strictly by the new dates published on amruhp.ac.in — not by any earlier notice, screenshot, or forwarded message they may have seen.

This kind of revision is fairly routine in state counselling and usually happens because of processing delays, verification backlogs, or alignment with other states' schedules. What matters for an aspirant is not why the date moved, but making sure their own preparation — documents, choice list, fee payment — is ready before the new deadlines arrive.

Revised Round 1 timeline

The table below lists the updated schedule as notified by AMRU for HP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling. Candidates should bookmark these dates and set reminders, since choice filling and locking happens over a short window.

Registration fee and who can take part

Only candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and meet Himachal Pradesh's domicile requirements are eligible for this state quota round. Reserved category candidates must also hold valid category certificates to claim benefits during seat allotment.

The counselling registration fee, paid during the earlier registration window, was tiered by category. Candidates who did not register within that window cannot join Round 1 now, though vacant seats (if any) may open up in later rounds or the stray vacancy round.

  • General, NRI, OBC and Others: Rs 2,500
  • SC, ST and EWS: Rs 1,500
  • Persons with Disability (PwD): No fee

Documents to carry for reporting

Allotted candidates must report to their assigned college with original documents — photocopies alone will not be accepted for verification. It's worth organising these well before the reporting dates so there is no last-minute scramble.

  • NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
  • Himachal Pradesh domicile or bonafide certificate
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, where applicable)
  • Aadhaar card or other valid photo ID
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Counselling registration fee receipt

What comes after the merit list

Once the merit list is out, candidates named on it move to choice filling, where they rank their preferred colleges, courses and quota options. Seat allotment is then decided purely on rank, the choices submitted, and category status — so the order in which choices are filled matters as much as the rank itself.

AMRU has indicated that two more counselling rounds will follow Round 1, along with a stray vacancy round expected in September 2026 for seats that remain unfilled. This gives candidates who don't get a seat in Round 1 further opportunities, provided vacancies exist.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I check the HP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 merit list?

On the official AMRU portal, amruhp.ac.in. Once released, search the PDF using your registration number to find your rank, category and merit position.

I registered late for HP counselling — can I still join Round 1?

No. Registration was mandatory within the window AMRU announced earlier, and candidates who missed it cannot enter Round 1. They may get another chance in Round 2, Round 3, or the stray vacancy round if seats remain vacant.

Do I need to pay anything again after the merit list is released?

The registration fee (Rs 2,500 for general/OBC/NRI/others, Rs 1,500 for SC/ST/EWS, and nil for PwD candidates) was collected during the registration stage. No separate fee has been mentioned for choice filling itself, but always confirm on the portal before proceeding.

What happens if I don't lock my choices in time?

Choice filling and locking is open only from August 22 to 25, 2026 in this revised schedule. Missing this window means you will not be considered for provisional or final seat allotment in Round 1.

How many more counselling rounds will HP NEET UG 2026 have?

Besides Round 1, AMRU has indicated two more rounds and a stray vacancy round in September 2026 for seats left vacant after earlier rounds.

Who do I contact if I have a doubt about the schedule or my rank?

AMRU has set up a WhatsApp helpline (9459139364) for counselling queries. For any schedule change, rely only on official updates posted on amruhp.ac.in rather than second-hand information.

The core lesson here is simple: state counselling calendars can shift, so treat the amruhp.ac.in portal as your single source of truth rather than any date you noted earlier. Keep your documents and fee receipt ready now, and check the portal daily through the choice-filling and allotment stages so you don't lose time reacting to changes.
