What This Notice Means for You

This is the official revised timetable for the first and only counselling round in Himachal Pradesh for NEET UG 2026 MBBS and BDS seats. The state counselling authority has updated the schedule based on the revised timeline from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in New Delhi. If you have qualified for Himachal Pradesh counselling — either through the state's own merit list or through the All India Quota — you must follow these exact dates.

The schedule covers five critical steps: release of the merit list, the window to fill and lock your course and college choices, provisional seat allocation, final seat allocation, and the deadline to join your allotted college. Missing any of these dates can mean you lose your seat, so mark your calendar now and set reminders.

Important Dates: The Complete Timeline

Below is the exact schedule for Himachal Pradesh 1st round MBBS/BDS counselling. All dates are in 2026. Note that the schedule may change if the state or MCC issues further revisions, so check the AMRU website regularly.

Step 1: Merit List Release (21 August 2026)

On 21 August 2026, AMRU will publish the Final Merit List for the 1st round of counselling. This list will show all candidates who are eligible to participate in counselling, ranked by their NEET UG 2026 score and category. Your rank on this list determines the order in which you can choose your college and course.

Check the AMRU website (www.amruhp.ac.in) on or immediately after 21 August to find your name and rank. If you do not appear on the merit list, you are not eligible for this round of counselling in Himachal Pradesh. Keep a screenshot or printout of the merit list for your records.

Step 2: Choice Filling and Locking (22–25 August 2026)

This is the most critical step. Between 22 August and 25 August 2026, you must log into the counselling portal, view all available MBBS and BDS seats in Himachal Pradesh colleges, and fill in your choices in order of preference. You can rank colleges and courses in any order you wish — the system will allocate you the highest-ranked choice for which you are eligible based on your merit rank and category.

After you have entered all your choices, you must 'lock' them before the deadline on 25 August. Once locked, your choices cannot be changed. If you do not fill and lock your choices by 25 August 2026, you will not be considered for seat allocation and will lose your chance in this round. The portal link will be available on the AMRU website.

Important: You must have your NEET UG 2026 admit card, roll number, and password ready to log in. If you have forgotten your password, reset it in advance — do not wait until the last day.

  • Log in to the counselling portal using your NEET UG roll number and password
  • View all available MBBS and BDS seats, colleges, and quotas in Himachal Pradesh
  • Rank colleges and courses in your order of preference
  • Click 'Lock' to finalize your choices before 25 August 2026 at the deadline time
  • Do not attempt to fill choices after the deadline — the portal will close

Step 3: Provisional Seat Allocation (27 August 2026)

On 27 August 2026, the system will run an algorithm based on your merit rank, category, and locked choices. It will allocate you a provisional seat — the highest-ranked college and course on your preference list for which you are eligible. This is called 'provisional' because it is subject to document verification and final confirmation.

Check the AMRU website on 27 August to see your provisional allocation. Note the college name, course (MBBS or BDS), and quota (General, OBC, SC, ST, or other) you have been allocated. This is not yet final, but it gives you an idea of where you may study.

Step 4: Final Seat Allocation (29 August 2026)

On 29 August 2026, after document verification and any other checks, AMRU will release the Final Seats Allocation list. This list shows your confirmed seat — the college, course, and quota you have been allotted. Once your name appears on this final list, your seat is confirmed, provided you join the college by the deadline.

Download and save a copy of the final allocation letter from the AMRU website. You will need this document when you report to the college.

Step 5: Joining the College (1–3 September 2026)

You must physically report to your allotted college between 1 September and 3 September 2026 to complete admission formalities. This includes submitting original documents, paying fees, and registering for your course. If you do not join by 3 September 2026, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.

Bring all original documents (10th and 12th certificates, NEET admit card, category certificate if applicable, domicile certificate, and any other documents the college specifies). Contact your allotted college in advance to confirm the exact reporting time and location, and to ask for a list of documents required.

  • Report to your allotted college between 1 and 3 September 2026
  • Bring all original documents and the final allocation letter
  • Complete admission formalities and pay fees as instructed by the college
  • If you do not join by 3 September, your seat will be cancelled

Who Is Eligible for This Counselling

You are eligible for Himachal Pradesh 1st round counselling if you have qualified for NEET UG 2026 and have been included in the merit list released on 21 August 2026. Eligibility is based on your NEET UG score, category (General, OBC, SC, ST, or other as per state rules), and domicile status (if applicable).

The notice does not specify the exact cutoff scores or category-wise eligibility criteria, as these are determined by the state based on the number of seats available and the number of qualified candidates. Check the merit list on 21 August to confirm you are eligible.

Seats Available and Quotas

Himachal Pradesh offers MBBS and BDS seats through state counselling. The exact number of seats and their distribution across colleges, courses, and quotas (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.) will be shown on the counselling portal when it opens for choice filling on 22 August 2026.

The notice does not list the specific colleges or seat numbers in this document. You will see the full list of available seats and colleges when you log into the portal to fill your choices. Typically, Himachal Pradesh has government medical colleges in Mandi, Shimla, and other locations, but confirm the current list on the AMRU website.

How to Access the Counselling Portal

The counselling portal will be accessible through the AMRU website: www.amruhp.ac.in. The notice does not provide a direct portal link in this document, but it will be published on the website before 22 August 2026.

To log in, you will need your NEET UG 2026 roll number and the password you created during NEET registration. If you have forgotten your password, use the 'Forgot Password' option on the portal to reset it. Do this well before 22 August so you are ready to fill choices on time.

  • Visit www.amruhp.ac.in
  • Look for the counselling portal link (will be published before 22 August 2026)
  • Log in using your NEET UG roll number and password
  • If you forgot your password, reset it in advance

Important: Check the Website Regularly for Updates

The notice explicitly states: 'Any change or subsequent round counselling schedule, shall be uploaded on the University website www.amruhp.ac.in. Therefore, the candidates are advised to remain in touch regularly with the University website till the completion of admission process.'

This means the dates in this schedule may change if the state or MCC issues a revision. Do not rely only on this document. Visit the AMRU website every few days from now until your admission is complete. If dates change, the university will post the new schedule on the website. Missing an update could cost you your seat.

  • Check www.amruhp.ac.in regularly for any schedule changes
  • Subscribe to email alerts or follow the university's social media if available
  • Do not assume dates will not change — stay informed

Common Mistakes That Get Your Application Rejected

**Missing updates on the AMRU website:** If the schedule changes and you do not check the website, you may miss a new deadline and lose your seat.

**Logging in with the wrong credentials:** Make sure you use your NEET UG 2026 roll number and the correct password. If you are unsure, reset your password before 22 August.
