Dr. NTRUHS NEET UG 2026 NRI Category Admission: Dates, Eligibility & Documents

Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Vijayawada, has opened applications for NRI category seats in MBBS and BDS courses for the 2026-27 academic year. This notification applies to three types of seats: Competent Authority (NRI) seats in new government medical colleges, Category-C (NRI) seats in private non-minority and minority colleges, and NRI seats at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women. Candidates who have already registered under Management Quota can now upload NRI documents without paying the application fee again. Those who missed the earlier registration window can register now with a late fee. The document upload window is open from 13 September 2026 (2:00 PM) to 16 September 2026 (2:00 PM).

What is this notification about?

This is a detailed admission notification from Dr. NTRUHS for NRI category seats in MBBS and BDS courses for the 2026-27 academic year. It covers three separate seat categories: (1) Competent Authority (NRI) seats in new government medical colleges permitted from 2023-24 onwards, (2) Category-C (NRI) seats in private un-aided non-minority and minority medical and dental colleges affiliated to Dr. NTRUHS, and (3) NRI seats at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women (under SVIMS), Tirupati.

The notification sets out the complete eligibility criteria, required documents, cutoff scores for different categories, and the application process. It also explains the NRI Lapsed Category — seats that remain vacant after all NRI applicants have been considered and are then filled from the Management Quota merit list, subject to a security deposit and bank guarantee.

This is NOT a merit list, result, or allotment. It is an application-opening notification. You must apply during the specified window to be considered for counselling.

Who is eligible to apply for NRI category seats?

To apply for NRI category seats, you must meet ALL of the following conditions:

First, you must have scored the NRI cutoff mark or higher in NEET UG 2026 conducted by NTA. The cutoff scores vary by category (General, SC/ST/BC, Persons with Disability, etc.) — see the cutoff table below.

Second, you must fall into one of these four NRI categories: (1) Actual NRI Candidate — a person who holds the citizenship of a country other than India; (2) Foreign Student — a person who studied their qualifying examination (10+2) outside India and holds a passport from another country; (3) OCI/PIO Cardholder — a person registered as an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) on or after 4 March 2021 (those registered before this date are NOT eligible); or (4) Child or Blood Relative of an NRI — defined as real uncle/aunt, maternal uncle/aunt, grandfather/grandmother, maternal grandfather/grandmother, or first-degree paternal/maternal cousin of an NRI who ordinarily resides abroad and has looked after you as a guardian.

Third, you must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination, securing at least 50% of marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology), or Bio-technology combined. If you belong to OBC/BC/SC/ST, the minimum is 40%. If you studied outside India, you must provide an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU); if you cannot, the minimum marks requirement will apply.

Fourth, you must be at least 17 years old by 31 December 2026. If you have not completed 17 years by this date, you are not eligible and should not apply.

What are the NRI cutoff scores in NEET UG 2026?

The cutoff scores determine whether you are eligible to apply for NRI seats. These are the minimum NEET UG 2026 scores (out of 720) you must have achieved. The cutoff varies by category — General, SC/ST/BC, Persons with Disability, and Benchmark Disability categories each have different cutoffs.

The table below shows the exact cutoff scores. Note that for SC/ST/BC and OBC/PwBD categories, the lower percentile or percentage of marks is used ONLY to determine eligibility for the cutoff score; it does not affect your rank or merit position in counselling.

Important dates and application window

The document upload window is very short — only 3 days. You must upload all your documents during this window or you will not be considered.

Document upload opens on 13 September 2026 at 2:00 PM and closes on 16 September 2026 at 2:00 PM. You can access the portal only on a desktop or laptop — mobile phones are not supported.

If you have already registered under Management Quota in response to the earlier notification dated 1 September 2026, you do NOT need to pay the application fee again. You can simply log in and upload your NRI documents during this window.

If you did not register earlier, you can register now, but you must pay a late fee of Rs. 20,000 in addition to the regular application fee of Rs. 11,000 (total Rs. 31,000).

Documents you must upload — complete checklist

Every document must be scanned as a PDF or JPG/JPEG file and uploaded through your login. File sizes must not exceed the limits shown in the table below. The verification of your eligibility will be done based on these uploaded documents in your absence — you will not be called for an in-person verification. Custodian certificates are NOT accepted.

Some documents are marked MANDATORY — if you do not upload these, your application will be rejected. Other documents are conditional — upload them only if they apply to you (e.g., caste certificate only if you are claiming a reserved category, PwBD certificate only if you have a disability).

For NRI category applicants, you must upload ALL NRI-related documents as a single combined PDF file (up to 2 MB). This includes your passport, NRI status certificate from the embassy, equivalence certificate (if you studied abroad), OCI/PIO card, or the blood relative declaration and family tree certificate.

Critical trap: Qualifying exam certificate — marks memo only, NOT grade certificate

This is a common reason applications are rejected. The notification explicitly states: 'Grade Certificate not Accepted.' You MUST upload your Intermediate (10+2) Marks Memo or an Equivalent Certificate if you studied abroad. A grade card or grade certificate will NOT be accepted, even if it shows your marks.

If you studied in India, upload your official marks memo from your board (CBSE, ICSE, state board, etc.). If you studied outside India, upload the equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). If you cannot obtain the AIU equivalence certificate, the minimum marks requirement (50% for General, 40% for OBC/BC/SC/ST) will be applied to determine your eligibility.

Check your certificate NOW before the upload window closes. If you have only a grade card, contact your school or board immediately to obtain the marks memo.

NRI category: Who qualifies and what documents you need

The NRI category has four sub-categories. You must fall into exactly one of them and provide the correct documents.

**Actual NRI Candidate or Foreign Student:** You must hold the citizenship of a country other than India. Upload your passport issued by that country. You must also upload an NRI status certificate issued by the embassy of your country under their official seal. If you cannot obtain this certificate immediately, you can upload an affidavit signed by both you and your parent stating that the certificate will be submitted without fail after you join the college. If you studied your qualifying examination (10+2) outside India, you must also upload an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

**OCI/PIO Cardholder:** You must hold an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) or PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card that was registered on or after 4 March 2021. If your card was registered before this date, you are NOT eligible for NRI seats. Upload a scanned copy of your OCI/PIO card. Note: OCI/PIO cardholders registered before 4 March 2021 are not eligible for any seat reserved exclusively for Indian citizens, but they may be eligible for other quotas — check the full prospectus.

**Child or Blood Relative of an NRI:** You must be related to an NRI through one of these specific relationships: real uncle/aunt (father's brother/sister), maternal uncle/aunt (mother's brother/sister), grandfather/grandmother (father's parents), maternal grandfather/grandmother (mother's parents), or first-degree paternal or maternal cousin. The NRI must ordinarily reside abroad and must have looked after you as your guardian. You must upload: (1) a Declaration of Blood Relative signed by BOTH you and the NRI (use the form provided in Annexure-I), (2) a Family Tree Certificate issued by the Competent Authority of the Revenue Department showing the relationship between you and the NRI, and (3) a copy of the NRE Bank Account Pass Book of the financial supporter (the NRI).

In all cases, you must submit a Declaration stating that you are an NRI or a child/blood relative of an NRI, and you must abide by the NRI candidature eligibility criteria.

NRI Lapsed Category — what it is and how to apply

NRI Lapsed seats are a special category. They are NRI seats that remain vacant after all NRI applicants have exercised their choices during counselling. These vacant seats are then converted to 'NRI Lapsed' seats and filled from the Management Quota merit list based on NEET ranks, subject to specific conditions.

To apply for NRI Lapsed seats, you do NOT need to be an NRI. Instead, you must upload a Notarized Affidavit of Parental Financial Status (use the form provided in Annexure-II). This affidavit must be signed by your parent/guardian and notarized by a notary public. In the affidavit, your parent must declare their total annual family income from all sources, the specific sources of income (occupation, business, profession, agriculture, etc.), and confirm that they have the financial capacity to pay the full tuition fee and other fees for the entire duration of the course (4.5 years for MBBS, 4 years for BDS) without default.

If you are allotted a seat under NRI Lapsed Category, you must pay a Security Deposit of Rs. 3,00,000 (three lakh rupees). In addition, you must submit a Bank Guarantee for the tuition fee at the college where you are allotted a seat. This is to ensure that the seat is not blocked.

In Minority Colleges, preference for NRI Lapsed seats is given to Minority candidates first. If no Minority candidates are available, non-Minority candidates are considered, but the number of non-Minority candidates admitted to a Minority College cannot exceed 30% of the total seats.

How to apply: Step-by-step process

**Step 1: Check your eligibility.** Before you start, verify that you meet ALL eligibility criteria: you scored the NRI cutoff or higher in NEET UG 2026, you fall into one of the four NRI categories, you passed 10+2 with the required marks, and you are at least 17 years old by 31 December 2026. Download the full Prospectus/Regulations from the university website (displayed on 1 September 2026) and read them carefully.

**Step 2: Gather and scan all documents.** Collect all the documents listed in the checklist above. Scan them as PDFs or JPG/JPEG files, ensuring file sizes do not exceed the limits. For NRI documents, combine them into a single PDF file (up to 2 MB). Check that your Intermediate certificate is a Marks Memo, NOT a grade certificate.

**Step 3: Log in to the portal.** Go to https://drntr.uhsap.in or https://apuhsugadmissions.aptonline.in/MBBSMQ/Home/Home using a desktop or laptop (NOT a mobile phone). If you registered earlier under Management Quota, use your existing login. If you are registering for the first time, create a new account.

**Step 4: Upload documents.** Log in and upload all scanned documents through your account. If you are applying for NRI Category, upload your NRI documents. If you are applying for NRI Lapsed Category, upload the Notarized Affidavit. The same application will be considered for all rounds of counselling.

**Step 5: Pay the fee (if required).** If you registered earlier, you do NOT need to pay again. If you are registering for the first time, pay Rs. 31,000 (Rs. 11,000 application fee + Rs. 20,000 late fee) through the online payment gateway.

**Step 6: Wait for verification.** The university will verify your eligibility based on the documents you uploaded. You will not be called for an in-person verification. Custodian certificates are NOT accepted.

**Step 7: Watch for further notifications.** The university will issue a separate notification for exercising web options (choosing your preferred colleges and courses). Important rules and warnings

**Application is non-refundable.** Once you pay the application fee, it cannot be refunded under any circumstances. Check your eligibility carefully before applying.

**Documents are for this academic year only.** The documents you upload are valid only for the 2026-27 academic year. You cannot use them for future years.

**False or forged documents will result in disqualification and legal action.** If the information you provide in your application is found to be incorrect, false, or fake, or if any of your certificates or documents are forged, the university will disqualify you from counselling. If you have already been admitted, your seat will be cancelled without notice. The university will take further legal action against you as per the rules. You may also face criminal prosecution.

**Blocking seats is a serious offense.** If you have already secured admission in a medical college in another state, joined the course, and are now blocking seats under Management/NRI quota in Dr. NTRUHS, the university will initiate legal action. The university will also inform the National Medical Commission (NMC) or National Dental Commission (NDC) for further action.

**Undertaking at admission.** All selected candidates must submit a Joint Undertaking in the form of an affidavit (Annexure-III) at the time of joining. This undertaking confirms that all your certificates are genuine and that you accept the Rules and Regulations of Dr. NTRUHS. You also agree not to enter into legal litigation if your seat is cancelled for the reasons mentioned above.

**Beware of touts and brokers.** Some people may approach you claiming they have connections in Dr. NTRUHS and can guarantee you a medical or dental seat through unfair means. This is false. All counselling and seat allotments are conducted strictly according to the rules, based on your NEET UG merit score and the options you exercise. Do NOT trust any such persons. Any official information will be posted only on the university website.
