Delhi NEET UG 2026 MBBS/BDS Admission: Complete Guide to Registration & Documents

The University of Delhi's Faculty of Medical Sciences has released its official Bulletin of Information for MBBS and BDS admissions in the 2026-27 academic year. This document governs admission to three MBBS colleges (Lady Hardinge Medical College, Maulana Azad Medical College, University College of Medical Sciences) and one BDS college (Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences) under both the 85% Delhi quota and 15% All India quota. The counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. All eligible NEET UG 2026 candidates must register online on the MCC portal and then complete a separate registration on the University's admission portal to secure their seat.

Who Can Apply: Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for MBBS/BDS admission under the 85% Delhi quota, you must meet all of the following criteria. First, you must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December 2026. This means you must be born on or before 31.12.2009. If you turn 17 on 1 January 2027 or later, you are not eligible.

Second, you must have passed the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). There is no separate entrance exam by the University; NEET UG 2026 is the only qualifying test.

Third, and critically for Delhi quota, you must have passed your 11th and 12th standard examinations under the 10+2 system from a school situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT). The school must be recognized by CBSE, Indian School Certificate Examination, Jamia Millia Islamia, or any other equivalent board. If you studied at Patrachar Vidyalaya or National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), both your study centre and examination centre must have been within NCT Delhi, and you must upload a certificate from the controlling authority confirming this.

Fourth, you must be medically fit for the course. The University may conduct medical examinations to verify this. Note: Candidates who passed 10+2 from NIOS, state open schools, or as private applicants from recognized state boards, or with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject, will be allowed only subject to the outcome of special leave petitions filed by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Seat Matrix 2026-27: How Many Seats Are Available

The University of Delhi offers a total of 660 MBBS seats and 50 BDS seats across its affiliated colleges. The seats are divided between the 85% Delhi quota and 15% All India quota. Within each quota, seats are further reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Armed Forces (CW) categories.

For MBBS, Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) has 240 seats (but only female applicants are eligible), Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) has 250 seats, and University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) has 170 seats. For BDS, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) has 50 seats. Additionally, 21 MBBS seats (6 at MAMC and 15 at LHMC) are reserved for Government of India Nominees under the Central Pool Scheme and are not part of the regular counselling.

Course Duration: How Long Is MBBS and BDS

The MBBS course at the University of Delhi has a normal duration of 4.5 years of academic study, divided into nine semesters, followed by one year of compulsory rotating internship training. In total, you will spend 5.5 years completing the MBBS degree.

The BDS course has a duration of 4 years of academic study, followed by one year of compulsory rotating internship training. In total, you will spend 5 years completing the BDS degree.

Important span period rules apply: For MBBS, you are allowed a maximum of four attempts to pass the first professional examination, and the total period to complete the first professional course must not exceed four years. You cannot graduate more than 10 years after joining the first part of the MBBS course. For BDS, you must complete the course within 9 years from the date of admission, including the one-year compulsory rotating internship, or you will be discharged from the course.

Two-Step Registration Process: MCC Portal Then University Portal

Admission to MBBS/BDS at Delhi University involves two separate online registrations. Do not confuse them or miss either deadline.

Step 1 – MCC Counselling Registration: First, you must register online on the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) portal at www.mcc.nic.in to participate in the counselling for both the 85% Delhi quota and 15% All India quota. The MCC will conduct the entire counselling process and allot seats based on your NEET UG 2026 rank and category. The start and closing dates for MCC registration will be notified by the MCC on its website. You must check www.mcc.nic.in regularly for updates.

Step 2 – University Admission Registration: Only after the MCC allots you a seat in a college affiliated to the University of Delhi will you be eligible to register on the University's admission portal at https://fmsc.du.ac.in. This second registration is mandatory to confirm your admission. You must complete this registration by uploading all required documents, a photograph, your signature, and paying the registration fee. Without this second registration, your MCC allotment will not be converted into a confirmed admission at the University.

Start with your identity and academic documents: (1) Passport-size photograph (120×130 pixels, JPG only, max 150 KB), (2) Scanned signature (200×50 pixels, JPG only, max 100 KB), (3) Self-attested NEET UG 2026 Admit Card (PDF, max 200 KB), (4) Self-attested NEET UG 2026 Score Card (PDF, max 200 KB), (5) Self-attested Aadhar Card (PDF, max 200 KB), (6) Self-attested Matriculation Certificate for date of birth verification (PDF, max 200 KB), (7) Self-attested 11th standard marksheet (PDF, max 200 KB), (8) Self-attested 12th standard marksheet (PDF, max 200 KB), (9) Self-attested 10+2 Certificate (PDF, max 200 KB).

Next, you must upload a school certificate on the prescribed proforma (available on https://fmsc.du.ac.in) from the Principal of your school stating: (i) the school is situated within NCT Delhi, (ii) the school is recognized by CBSE/ICSE/Jamia Millia/NIOS, (iii) the school conducts regular classes (except NIOS/Patrachar Vidyalaya), and (iv) you attended regular classes in 11th and 12th (except NIOS/Patrachar Vidyalaya). This certificate is critical for Delhi quota eligibility.

If you studied at Patrachar Vidyalaya or NIOS, you must upload a certificate from the controlling authority confirming that your study centre and examination centre were within NCT Delhi. You must also upload a self-attested Character Certificate in the CBSE proforma, issued by the Principal of your last school or any Gazetted Officer (PDF, max 200 KB).

Finally, upload the Allotment Letter issued by the MCC, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. At the time of physical admission at your allotted college, you must bring a printout of your registration form, the allotment letter, and original certificates (two sets of self-attested photocopies).

Registration Fee: How Much You Must Pay

The online registration fee is non-refundable and must be paid during the online registration process on the University's admission portal. The fee amount depends on your category.

If you belong to SC, ST, or PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category, the registration fee is ₹1,000. If you belong to any other category—General, OBC, or EWS—the registration fee is ₹1,500. Payment must be made through one of the available online payment options (credit card, debit card, net banking, etc.). Your application submission is complete only after payment is made. Once payment is done, no changes or corrections to your application form are allowed.

Category-Wise Reservations: SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, CW

The University of Delhi reserves seats for candidates belonging to specific categories. Understanding which category you fall into and what certificate you need is crucial, as missing the correct certificate or submitting an invalid one will result in rejection.

Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST): 15% of seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates. To claim SC/ST reservation, you must attach a certificate from a competent authority (District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Collector, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Chief Presidency Magistrate, or Revenue Officer not below Tehsildar rank). The certificate must clearly state: (a) your caste/tribe name, (b) whether you belong to SC or ST, (c) the district and state/union territory of your usual residence, and (d) the Government of India Schedule under which your caste/tribe is listed. If you do not have the certificate at registration time, you may upload an acknowledgement slip, but you must produce the original certificate at the time of admission. SC/ST students whose parents do not pay income tax may be exempted from tuition and admission fees.

Other Backward Classes (OBC): 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates. You must belong to the Non-Creamy Layer and your caste must appear in the Central List of OBCs notified by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The OBC certificate must be issued by a competent authority (District Magistrate, Additional Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Collector, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Chief Presidency Magistrate, or Revenue Officer not below Tehsildar rank). Critically, the non-creamy layer certificate must be issued on or after 01.04.2026 for the financial year 2026-27. If you are in the creamy layer, you are not eligible for OBC reservation.

Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates. You must meet the income and asset criteria prescribed by the University of Delhi. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 5% of seats are reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016. You must obtain a Disability Certificate from one of the 16 designated disability assessment boards across India (listed in the document) before the scheduled date of online counselling. The certificate must specify the exact percentage of disability. PwBD candidates are exempted from all fees except admission fee, Delhi University Students' Union subscription, and identity card fee. If you meet the cut-off for the unreserved category and take admission there, you will pay the PwBD fee rate.

Armed Forces (CW): 5% of seats are reserved on a horizontal (compartmental) basis for children/widows of defence personnel, para-military personnel, and police personnel. You must upload an Educational Concession Certificate (ECC) in the prescribed format from one of the authorized authorities (Kendriya Sainik Board, Rajya Zila Sainik Board, Record Office, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, or Ministry of Home Affairs). Critical Traps: What Gets Your Application Rejected

Many candidates lose their seats because they miss a single requirement or submit the wrong type of certificate. Here are the most common rejection reasons:

School Location Trap: You must have studied 11th and 12th in a school within NCT Delhi. If your school is outside Delhi, you are not eligible for the 85% Delhi quota, even if you are a Delhi resident. The school certificate from the Principal must explicitly state that the school is situated within NCT Delhi. This is non-negotiable.

OBC Non-Creamy Layer Trap: An OBC certificate alone is not enough. You must also submit a separate non-creamy layer certificate issued on or after 01.04.2026. If your non-creamy layer certificate is dated before 01.04.2026, it will be rejected. If you do not submit a non-creamy layer certificate at all, your OBC claim will be rejected.

SC/ST Certificate Trap: The certificate must clearly state your caste/tribe name and the Government of India Schedule under which it is listed. If the certificate does not mention the Schedule or if your caste is not actually listed in the Schedule, your claim will be rejected. Do not assume your caste is listed—verify it on the official Govt. of India website.

PwBD Certificate Trap: You must obtain a Disability Certificate from one of the 16 designated disability assessment boards listed in the document. Certificates from private doctors or other hospitals will not be accepted. The certificate must specify the exact percentage of disability. Do not wait until the last date to get this done—get it immediately.

Document Format and Size Trap: All documents must be in the correct format (PDF or JPG as specified) and within the file size limit (usually 200 KB). If a document is too large or in the wrong format, the upload will fail or be rejected. Test your uploads before the final submission deadline.

Photograph and Signature Trap: Your photograph must be exactly 120×130 pixels and your signature exactly 200×50 pixels. If the dimensions are wrong, the upload may fail. Use an online image resizer to get the exact dimensions.

No Changes After Payment Trap: Once you click 'Make Payment' and complete the transaction, you cannot make any changes to your application form. No corrections, no additions, no deletions. If you realize you made an error after payment, you cannot fix it. Review everything carefully before paying.

Eligibility Mismatch Trap: If you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria (age, NEET score, school location, etc.), your admission will be cancelled even after you are allotted a seat and pay the fee. The University will not refund your fee. Apply only if you are 100% sure you meet all criteria.

Counselling Process: How Seats Are Allotted

The entire counselling and seat allotment process is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The University of Delhi does not conduct a separate entrance exam or counselling; it follows the MCC process completely.

After you register on the MCC portal (www.mcc.nic.in), the MCC will release a merit list based on your NEET UG 2026 rank and category. Seats will be allotted strictly on merit—that is, on the basis of your percentile and rank in NEET UG 2026. The MCC will conduct the counselling in multiple rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and possibly a Stray Vacancy Round). In each round, you will be given the option to choose your preferred college and course (MBBS or BDS) based on your rank and the available seats.

Once you are allotted a seat by the MCC, you will receive an Allotment Letter. This letter is your proof of allotment. You must then register on the University's admission portal (https://fmsc.du.ac.in) within the stipulated deadline and upload all required documents and the allotment letter. Only after this second registration and payment of the registration fee will your admission be confirmed by the University.

If you do not register on the University portal within the deadline, your MCC allotment will lapse and your seat will be given to the next candidate. There is no grace period or extension. The University will not send individual communications for counselling or admission—you must check the MCC website and the University website regularly for updates and deadlines.

Surety Bond: ₹3 Lakhs Requirement and When You Must Pay

At the time of your provisional admission at the college, you must execute a surety bond worth ₹3 lakhs with two sureties. This bond is a legal document that binds you to complete the course. Your admission will not be valid unless and until this bond is executed. The proforma for the surety bond is available on the University website (https://fmsc.du.ac.in).

The bond money is forfeited (you lose it) if: (1) you surrender your seat in violation of MCC rules/instructions after joining the college, (2) you leave the course before completion, or (3) your admission is cancelled by the University due to unsatisfactory performance, misconduct, or indiscipline. If none of these conditions apply, the bond money is returned to you after you complete the course.

The University keeps 30% of the bond money collected and deposits it with the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The remaining 70% is retained by the college and can be used for development of undergraduate teaching and training programmes. Important: If you leave the course due to terms and conditions in the NMC/DCI Regulations or University Ordinances (e.g., examination rules), you will not be liable to pay the bond money.

Important Rules: Joining, Migration, and Undertakings

Once you are allotted a seat and complete the University registration, you will be provisionally admitted to the course. You must join the assigned college by the date mentioned in your admission letter. If you fail to report by that date, your admission is liable to be cancelled. College fees are paid directly to the college at the time of joining, not to the University.

You must give an undertaking that you are not pursuing MBBS/BDS courses anywhere else in India. If you are already admitted to or pursuing MBBS/BDS at another college, you must produce a cancellation certificate from that college at the time of reporting to your allotted college. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of your admission.

No migration (transfer) is permitted between medical colleges at the University of Delhi. Once you are admitted to a college, you cannot transfer to another college within the University system. This is a strict rule.

All admissions are provisional and subject to fulfillment of eligibility requirements. If at any stage it is found that you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria, your admission will be cancelled and no refund of fees will be made. If you have furnished false information or withheld material information, your candidature will be cancelled, you may face criminal prosecution, and you will be disqualified from future admissions.

Special Categories: Government of India Nominees (NGOI) and Armed Forces (CW)

Twenty-one MBBS seats (6 at MAMC and 15 at LHMC) are reserved for Government of India Nominees (NGOI) under the Central Pool Scheme. These seats are filled on the basis of recommendations from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, for candidates sponsored by various authorities. If you are eligible under this scheme (e.g., you are a student from a state with no medical college, a ward of defence personnel, a child of para-military personnel, a Tibetan refugee, a national bravery awardee, or a civilian affected by terrorism), you should not apply through the regular counselling. Instead, you must apply directly to the sponsoring authority after obtaining the minimum marks in NEET UG 2026. The list of sponsoring authorities and their contact details is provided in the document.

For Armed Forces (CW) category, 5% of seats are reserved on a horizontal basis. You must upload an Educational Concession Certificate (ECC) in the prescribed format from one of the authorized authorities. The certificate must clearly state your priority level (Priority I through IX) based on your relationship to the defence/para-military/police personnel. Admission is offered strictly in order of priority. No changes or additional documents are allowed after submission. If there is any dispute about your priority, the issuing authority is responsible for defending the case in court, not the University.

Ragging and Sexual Harassment: Zero Tolerance

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the premises of the college, the University, and on public transport. Ragging includes any act, conduct, or practice by which senior students use their dominant power or status to harass, intimidate, or humiliate junior or newly enrolled students. This includes physical assault, threats, verbal abuse, indecent gestures, obscene behavior, and any act that violates the status, dignity, or honor of women students or students belonging to scheduled castes or tribes.

Any student found guilty of ragging will face severe punishment, including rustication (expulsion) from the University for a specific number of years, expulsion, or cancellation of examination results. If you have already obtained a degree from the University and are later found guilty of ragging, the University may withdraw your degree. The Medical Council of India (now National Medical Commission) Regulations on ragging in medical colleges are also strictly enforced.

Sexual harassment of women at the workplace is governed by the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Any form of sexual harassment is a serious offense and will be dealt with under this Act and the University's ordinances.
