The Selection Committee under the Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME), Chennai, has published the tentative counselling schedule for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu government medical and dental colleges for the 2026-27 session. This particular notice covers three special reservation categories — Eminent Sports Persons, Children of Ex-Servicemen, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) — and fixes their counselling for a single day, 13 August 2026, at a venue in Chennai. It lists exact reporting times for each category, the documents candidates must carry, and the tuition fee (as demand draft) applicable to each course and community group. This is a schedule notice, not a result — candidates named in the eligible lists must physically appear for counselling on the given date and time.
Eligible candidates under Eminent Sports Person, Children of Ex-Servicemen, and PwBD categories must report at Lecture Hall-II, TN Govt Multi-Super Speciality Hospital, Omandurar Estate, Chennai, on 13 August 2026 at their allotted time, carrying all nine original documents and the prescribed demand drafts — missing even one document means no entry into counselling.
Who is being called, and when
This counselling day is reserved for three special categories only. Each category has its own reporting time and its own serial-number range, based on the eligible list published on the official website (tnmedicalselection.net).
Candidates should check the eligible list on the website to confirm their own serial number falls within the range called for their category.
| Time | Category | Who is called |
|---|---|---|
| 08:00 AM | Eminent Sports Person | Serial numbers 01 to 25 from the eligible Eminent Sports Person list |
| 08:30 AM | Children of Ex-Servicemen | Serial numbers 01 to 30 from the eligible Children of Ex-Servicemen list |
| 09:00 AM | Person with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) | ALL candidates on the eligible PwBD list |
Venue and how to reach it
All three sessions will be held at the same venue in Chennai. Candidates travelling from outside the city should plan their journey using the transport landmarks given in the notice.

- Nearest bus stand: Simpson / Omandurar bus stop

Documents you must bring — no exceptions
The notice is explicit: candidates who do not bring every one of these original certificates will NOT be allowed to participate in counselling. There is no provision for submitting them later. Photocopies alone are not sufficient — carry the originals.
- NEET UG 2026 Admit Card and Score Card
- 10th Std Mark Sheet
- 11th Std Mark Sheet
- HSC / Equivalent Mark Sheet (12th Std)
- Certificate for proof of study from 6th Std. to 12th Std. — required only for candidates who have studied completely in Tamil Nadu
- Transfer Certificate from the school last studied, OR a Bonafide Certificate from the institution where the candidate is currently pursuing further studies
- Nativity Certificate
- Community Certificate (of the candidate)
- Community Certificate of either parent — father or mother (any one)
Fees you must pay — carry demand drafts
Two separate payments are involved. First, every candidate must produce a Demand Draft of Rs. 500, payable at Chennai in favour of 'The Secretary, Selection Committee, Chennai – 10', as a processing fee — this is required just to enter counselling, regardless of whether a seat is finally allotted.
Second, if a seat is actually allotted, the candidate must produce a further Demand Draft towards tuition fee, at the amount shown below depending on the course (MBBS/BDS), category, and community. If a candidate does not have this DD ready, the notice says a facility to prepare one is available at the venue itself — but it is safer to bring it ready-made to avoid delays.
| Course | Community | Demand Draft Amount (Processing fee + Tuition fee) |
|---|---|---|
| Govt. MBBS | OC / BC / BCM / MBC | Rs. 500 + Rs. 18,073 |
| Govt. MBBS | SC / SCA / ST (if annual income is more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs) | Rs. 500 + Rs. 12,073 |
| Govt. BDS | OC / BC / BCM / MBC | Rs. 500 + Rs. 16,073 |
| Govt. BDS | SC / SCA / ST (if annual income is more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs) | Rs. 500 + Rs. 12,073 |
| Govt. MBBS/BDS (Person with Benchmark Disabilities) | OC / BC / BCM / MBC | Rs. 500 + Rs. 10,073 |
| Govt. MBBS/BDS (Person with Benchmark Disabilities) | SC / SCA / ST (if annual income is more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs) | Rs. 500 + Rs. 10,073 |
Rules and traps to watch for
A few instructions in the notice can genuinely cost a candidate their turn or their seat if missed.
- No individual call letters will be sent — it is the candidate's own responsibility to check the eligible list and turn up on time.
- Candidates must report ONE HOUR before the scheduled start time, accompanied by one parent, and travel is at the candidate's own cost.
- More candidates are being called to counselling than there are seats in these special categories — allotment is NOT guaranteed to everyone who attends.
- Candidates can only choose from vacancies actually available when their turn comes — earlier choices by other candidates may have already filled some seats.
- Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the counselling hall during a candidate's turn.
- The eligible list for the PwBD category will be published on the official website only on 12 August 2026 — one day before counselling — so PwBD candidates should check the list as soon as it is released.

See My CollegesFrequently asked questions
Is this counselling only for special category candidates?
Yes. This particular schedule covers only three categories — Eminent Sports Person, Children of Ex-Servicemen, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) — for Tamil Nadu government MBBS/BDS seats. General category counselling rounds are scheduled separately.
What if my serial number is not within the range called (e.g., above 25 for Sports Person)?
The notice specifically calls Sl. No. 1 to 25 for Eminent Sports Person and Sl. No. 1 to 30 for Children of Ex-Servicemen. If your serial number falls outside these ranges, you are not called for this session — watch the official website for further schedules.
Does attending counselling guarantee me a seat?
No. The notice explicitly states that since more candidates are being called than there are seats, allotment is not guaranteed to everyone who attends.
What happens if I forget one of the required documents?
You will not be allowed to participate in counselling. All nine listed original documents are mandatory — there is no exception mentioned in the notice.
I studied outside Tamil Nadu for part of school. Do I still need the 6th-to-12th study certificate?
That certificate is required only for candidates who studied completely in Tamil Nadu from 6th to 12th standard. If you studied partly or fully outside the state, this specific document does not apply to you, but check the other requirements (Transfer Certificate/Bonafide Certificate, Nativity Certificate) carefully.
How much money do I need to carry for the tuition fee demand draft?
It depends on the course and your community/category — ranging from Rs. 10,073 (PwBD candidates, any community) to Rs. 18,073 (MBBS, OC/BC/BCM/MBC), plus the Rs. 500 processing fee in every case. See the fee table above for exact figures.
When will the PwBD eligible list be published?
The notice says the eligible list of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities will be published on the official website on 12 August 2026, one day before the counselling date.
Can I bring a mobile phone to the counselling hall?
Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the counselling hall during your turn.
Eligible candidates should check their serial number against the official lists on tnmedicalselection.net without delay, arrange every one of the nine listed documents in original, and prepare the Rs. 500 processing fee demand draft plus the applicable tuition fee draft before 13 August 2026. Since this is a tentative schedule, keep checking the official website for any updates or changes before the date.
