Tamil Nadu's Selection Committee under the Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME), Chennai, has issued the tentative Round-1 counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-2027 session. This particular schedule is only for candidates covered under the 7.5% seat reservation for students who studied in Tamil Nadu Government Schools — a special quota within Tamil Nadu's medical admission process. It tells eligible candidates exactly which date and time slot to report for counselling, based on their rank and NEET marks, and lists the documents they must carry. Counselling will be held on 13 August 2026 (Thursday) at a venue in Chennai. This is a schedule/call notice, not a result — being called for counselling does not guarantee a seat.
Candidates falling in the listed rank/marks ranges for the 7.5% Tamil Nadu Government School quota must report in person on 13 August 2026 at the specified time, with all original documents — no individual call letters will be sent.
What is the 7.5% Government School quota?
Tamil Nadu reserves 7.5% of MBBS and BDS seats specifically for candidates who studied in a Tamil Nadu Government School from 6th to 12th standard. This is a separate merit list from the general NEET rank list, and candidates in this quota are called for counselling using their rank on this 7.5% merit list, not their overall NEET rank.
This schedule applies to admissions in Tamil Nadu Government Medical/Dental Colleges, Government-quota seats in self-financing Medical/Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College (K.K. Nagar, Chennai), and Private Universities.
Counselling date, time slots and eligible ranks
Candidates are called in batches based on their rank on the 7.5% merit list (shown as GR = General Rank, or CR = Community Rank for reserved categories) and their NEET marks range. Only candidates whose rank and marks fall within the ranges below should report for this round.
All timings and ranges below are for 13 August 2026 (Thursday).

Traps and rules candidates must not miss
A few points in this notice can cost a candidate their turn or their seat if overlooked.
First, item 5 (the CEO-issued bonafide certificate) is conditional — it is not needed by everyone. Only candidates who finished HSC before 2022, or those flagged in the official 'Ineligible list' due to an EMIS mismatch, must produce it. Check the official website's ineligible list if you are unsure whether this applies to you.
Second, no individual call letters are being sent by post or courier. It is entirely the candidate's responsibility to check their rank/marks against the schedule and turn up on time.
Third, and most important: more candidates are being called for counselling than there are seats in the 7.5% quota, so being called does not mean you will get a seat. Vacancies are allotted strictly in rank order and only from what is available at your turn — you cannot opt for a college/course outside the vacancies open when your turn comes.
- Report ONE HOUR before your slot's start time, along with one parent, at your own cost.
- No processing fee or tuition fee needs to be paid for participating in this counselling.
- Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the counselling hall during your turn.
- This is a TENTATIVE schedule — timings/ranges could be revised by the Selection Committee.

Who is eligible for this Round-1 counselling on 13 August 2026?
Only candidates whose rank on the 7.5% Tamil Nadu Government School merit list (and NEET marks) fall within the ranges listed in the schedule — either under 'All Communities' or under SC, SCA, or ST community ranks.
Will I get a call letter by post?
No. The notice explicitly says no individual call letters will be sent. You must check the published schedule yourself and report at the correct date and time.
Do I need to pay any fee for this counselling?
No. Candidates participating in this MBBS/BDS counselling do not need to pay a Processing Fee or Tuition Fee for this round.
Do I need the CEO bonafide certificate (item 5)?
Only if you completed your HSC before 2022, or if your EMIS number could not be matched and your name appears in the Ineligible list on the official website. Other candidates do not need this particular certificate.
If I am called for counselling, am I guaranteed a seat?
No. The notice states clearly that since more candidates are being called than there are seats, allotment is not guaranteed to everyone. Seats are given strictly by rank order from whatever vacancies remain at your turn.
Can I bring my phone into the counselling hall?
No. Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the counselling hall during a candidate's turn.
Who should accompany me to counselling?
One parent (father or mother) should accompany you, at your own travel cost. You must both be present at least one hour before your scheduled slot.
What happens if my documents are incomplete?
The notice says candidates will not be allowed to participate in counselling without producing all listed original certificates/documents, so missing even one document could cost you your turn.
If your rank and NEET marks fall within the ranges listed for the 7.5% Tamil Nadu Government School quota, mark 13 August 2026 on your calendar, arrange every original document listed above, and reach the Omandurar venue at least an hour early with a parent. Keep checking the official TN Medical Selection website for any revision to this tentative schedule before the date.
